Crossroads V3
[Ohya cleans up the counter, preparing to open. She's been making a mess of the counter enough the past few days. Once she's done she makes sure to set the sign to open, and briefly glances outside to shout.] Hey, anyone awake?! [She is still a bit drunk it seems.] Bar's open! You know, bar? That place that is supposed to serve alcohol?! Just saying! [She walks back in and takes a seat behind the counter.] I still miss Lala-chan...
*A boy clearly in his teens notices the yelling and comes by to see what the commotion is all about.* Geez lady, could you be any louder? I get you need to attract paying customers and all, but there are more subtle methods than that. Whatever, while I'm here I'll take some water or something.
Hmph, well it worked, didn't it? Though I suppose a glass of water isn't something I can request payment for. [She moves away from the counter and quickly pours a glass of water, passing it to Lowe.] Well, better for a kid your age to get water than buy a drink and get me in trouble.
(A young girl walks through the doors, a cheerful grin on her face as she absently looks at a black jewel of some sort. Though once she notices the people nearby it vanishes) Oh hello everyone! What's this place anyways... I've never been somewhere like it before. (She glances at Lowe before walking a bit closer to him and waving) Oh and it's nice to meet you, Homura Akemi... So whatcha doing around here this late? I'm just... Out looking around yup! (Her voice sounds unsteady on that last bit, obviously her reasons aren't so simple. Regardless she then turns to Ohya, the same smile as usual showing) Oh and I guess I'll have something sweet! Just as long as there's no alcohol and lots of sugar I'm happy!
*The boy takes the glass happily, and smiles at Ohya.* Thanks lady, I appreciate you at least giving me a glass of something to drink; and yeah, I suppose your yelling did work. *He turns to Homura, an inquisitive look on his face at the sudden disappearance of the black jewel. He decides not to pry, though.* Right back at ya, Homura. The name's Lowe, and I was just out for a walk when I heard someone screaming. Turns out it was just to draw in customers to this place, but I guess it worked with both of us here, eh?
Hmm, something with no alcohol? Lemme see what we've got. [Ohya turns to face the wall of alcohol behind her, and pours a glass of water for Homura.] Sorry, no sugar. This is a bar after all. [She rubs her temple and says something under her breath.] Jeez, Lala-chan would freak if she found out I let a kid this young come in.
I guess so? I didn't even notice honestly... I was thinking about stuff actually. And it's good to see you're not... A gun toting talking rodents for example. Always a plus. (Her face while still cheerful through the exchange looks rather confused by the end, clearly even Homura's not sure of the things her eyes have seen here. Quite the feat regarding one who's seen living rose bushes try to kill people) Oh water... Eh it's good, thanks! And don't worry about that, this place is almost totally lawless as far as I can see. I've even found stores openly selling military weapons without anyone asking about it!
(A quiet looking man with a solemn expression would slide into the bar quietly. He looks over the patrons and the bartender before taking a seat at the counter. From his coat pocket he'd grip onto something before waving over the barkeep with his free hand.) Excuse me miss, can I get a glass of whiskey on the rocks and a glass of water or Dr. Pepper? Preferably the latter. (After speaking he'd cast his eyes down to the counter upon hearing of the lawlessness of the world.)
[Ohya returns from pouring her own drink, hiccuping before she takes a sip.] Sorry kid, guess I forgot about this stuff, found this. [She leans forward and hands a soda to Homura, she reeks of whiskey.] Guess it's just one of those nights, *hic* completely forgot. I've been bringin' in more of this kinda stuff since a lot more underage kids have been coming in lately. Not that I mind, better than this place being totally empty every night.
(Homura glances at the glass before taking a sip. The smell doesn't even phase her, whatever this girl has seen? Far worse has come up) It's no big deal... Oh and what's your name anyways? I'm Homura Akemi if you didn't hear earlier. (She turns to Okabe, smiling at the man and wondering why he's staring at the counter so intently) Oh hello there Mr, you look new around here... So then what's brought you around this crazy place anyways?
[Ohya pulled a glass out and put in a few large ice cubes, pouring whiskey into the glass, passing it to Okabe.] Now let's see... Dr. Pepper, was it? [Ohya moves to where she kept the sodas, and looks for the Dr. Pepper, she takes a few minutes trying to find it, likely drunk, before returning and putting in on the counter.]
Nice to see a new face, Akemi-san. My name is Ichigo... Go? Ko... ko! Ichiko! Ichiko Ohya! *hic* Though, is it really a good idea for ya to be out on the town this late?
*Lowe pipes up at Ohya's notion, and points at Homura with his index finger, the rest of them wrapped around his glass.* She makes a fair point. Not to be a downer or anything, but it's late. no time for a girl of your build to be wandering around. Judging from what you're wearing and your face I'd say you aren't even out of middle school yet.
(The attention gives him a start, causing him to drop the small pill bottle he was holding in his pocket. He quickly scrambles off the chair and picks up the bottle before turning to the young girl, slightly embarrassed.) I uh...yes? I've been here for some time now, but I've never really left my abode. I've got a bad case of anxiety so walking around a foreign world is....not my desired method of killing time to say the least. (With a wry smile, the man would turn from the girl and grab the soda to open it. Placing it back on the counter, he'd take a few tablets from his pill bottle and toss them into his mouth, chasing them down with the soda.) Much obliged, Miss Ohya, was it? My name is Okabe Rintarou. (He'd bow his head before lifting it back up and taking a swig of whiskey.)
Oh I see... I guess I understand. (She looks around the room for a moment, pausing to think her words out) I used to be in the hospital all the time actually... Heh, when I got out it was. Well weird I guess, you stay away from people long enough going out just seems scary ya know... But even so being like that isn't good! I'm sure you can get over it Okabe-san! (The girl's face turns to a heartfelt grin as her voice sounds a bit louder than before, she's clearly trying to help... Even if she's a little clueless) Oh and I'm fine out here Ohya-san, I've figured out how to take care of myself pretty well so don't worry about me alright!
Oka...ge... Okabe! Okabe-san, got it! All right, if you say so Homura. Just be careful.
*Lowe turns to Okabe, concerned.* Whoa there buddy, you're drinking a lot of booze in very little time. Are you good over there?
(He shakes his head as the whiskey works its way down his throat. He'd place down his glass and turn to Homura.) It's not just other people I'm scared of...but you're right. Humans can move past atrocities and pain in a matter of years...time heals all wounds they say... (His eyes narrow as he brings his right hand to his face.) ...it also delivers pain like no other. (He'd compose himself before turning to Lowe with a tired expression.) This is all I'll be having for the night. Just something to take the edge off. I do, however, appreciate the concern sir! (He turns back to his Dr.Pepper and chases the previous sip of whiskey.)
... Time huh? (The girl looks down at a ring on her finger, a purple jewel sits in the center. The look on her face turns pensive as she considers that turn of phrase) Yes Okabe-san. Time is really quite something isn't it... Can you imagine if someone could turn it back? How wonderful that might sound.. For some reason I don't think it'd work out like you hope, what about you? (Homura pulls her glasses off, rubbing them on her shirt to clean them off. Her face looking older and more worn out than it did a few minutes ago)
*Lowe shrugs, and takes a sip of his water.* Alright, do whatever you want man, but don't expect me to carry your ass home if you get wasted.
(He nervously looks down at his drink, his knuckles going white as he grips it.) N-No...I don't think it would go quite how you'd plan it to if you turn back the clock. (A broken smile forms on his lips.) Sometimes the universe just has a set path and nobody can do anything to stop it...no matter how hard you are to try... (He'd look back to the girl with his solemn expression.) So I suppose we're on the same page.
Trust me, I won't be that bad. It isn't my first rodeo pal. I know my limits, but thanks for the warning! (He'd turn to Lowe with a forced smile.)
[Ohya takes a sip and sighs, leaning on the counter a bit.] Wish I could turn back time til before this whole Nexus thing... back when every night was a fun time with Lala-chan. Now it's a quiet bar, sometimes filled with angst, sometimes with edge.
A set path you can't change... Maybe that's possible, you sound like you speak from experience in this regard Okabe-san, am I right to think that? (The girl looks up at him with a dead serious face, obviously any attempts at seeming normal have been tossed out the window) I'm getting the sense you know a thing or two about time Okabe-san... So I'll be honest, yeah I've turned back the clock a time or two myself... Every time the same result plays out a little different than before. An entire month and bam I'm back where I started. Sound anything like you? (Rather than the former tone of cheer, at this point Homura simply sounds somber at best. Her voice seeming all too much like this girl has... Well not seen it all, but enough that by now she's become far more mature than she's got any right to be)
*Lowe stands up, setting his empty glass on the bar.* Well, I guess I should get back. The place I'm staying at has issues with it's door, needs someone to watch it pretty often. Later. *He leaves through the front door, a very subtle singe is left on the arm of the chair his right arm was resting on. Might have something to do with the black cloth he was wearing on it, who knows?*
(A wave of shock hits the man as he turns to the girl.) You......you did what? (His eyes a mixture of pain sorrow. He balls his hands into fists as he looks the girl in the eyes.) Yes....no use hiding it...I have leapt through time and it is as you say. Nothing ever goes right. People die because fate cannot be overwritten...we aren't gods...what say do we have? (He looks away.) And yet knowing this, I still struggled against the forces of time and fate...slowly eating away at myself until I was a broken wreck... (He covers his face with his right hand, absentmindedly waving off Lowe with his left. He composes himself before sitting back down.) Good night sir.
OOC: Pain and sorrow. Fuck my life I guess
[At some point Ohya had passed out when no one noticed, slumped over on the counter away from the others. She seems to have been prepared for it however, and in her hand she holds a pen, her notepad laying on the counter in front of her. The drunken writing is difficult to decipher, but it seems to read... "l0ck up wen leaf"]
... We aren't god's huh, maybe not.. But I guess I can't really just stop, well actually, it's utterly pointless to worry about in this world. (The girl looks down at her ring once more, the gem in the center looks a bit dark as her face shows obvious sadness) Even so Okabe-san, I really believe that somehow someway we can change the future... I'm not really sure what it takes do that. (She turns up from the gem, looking back at Okabe with a hopeful expression, her voice going from seeming a bit dead to something like it's usual optimistic tone) I'll find a way to save everyone somehow Okabe-san! And when I do... I'll help you too! If I've made one person's life a little better then it'll all be worth it in the end! (A yawn comes from Homura as she pulls her hand up to her mouth, looking a bit flustered by it) Um anyways I should probably go home now, I'm actually feeling worn out tonight. But it was very nice meeting you... Especially since we seem to have something in common! (She takes one final drink from the glass and waves goodbye to Okabe, this little talk may not have been very cheerful. But nonetheless she's still happy to meet someone who seems to understand what she's seen. And with that Homura Akemi walks off into the darkness of the early morning. Going home... For the first time in a day and a half or so)
