Dark / Light affinities pre P5
Okay, I've played P4G to completion and now I'm half way through P3 FES and I'm a little confused as to the point of these. I get the point of having reflect or resist on Hama / Mudo skills but what does the weakness actually do? I figured it would make it a guaranteed insta kill, but obviously that doesn't make sense since then there'd be no difference in the tiered variations for those weak to it. Plus, I've missed already against shadows weak to it. Is it just there for show or does being weak to light / dark actually change anything pre Persona 5? Thanks ^_^
Weakness makes the instakill basically guaranteed. That's it.

It probably had dodge-light or something. Also, none of you are Naegi.
It also leaves your vulnerable if hit (it knocks you down) in Persona 5, and does more damage. Not sure if that's in P4 though. Only Hama and Mudo skills exist in P4 and P3, the instant kill ones with a chance of failing,
Well I haven't played P4 but I think the use of the light and dark weaknesses in P3 for me was so you'd get a 1 more.

I found the insta-kill moves ONLY worked when used against something weak to them. (Going to erase my post now).

No, it does work when you are neutral to them, just unlikely, you can clear waves of shadows with Mudo boost and MaMudoon
Yeah, but with my luck, it might as well be never. So I only used them against weak and had no problems. Even on the low chance kills.
Rip, try Die For Me! on Alice or Samsara on Daisoujou, they both have Mudo boost and Hama boost respectively, near end game it just wipes everything, and at that point, SP is stupidly easy to get with invigorate 3
Thanks, but I already know how to play. Instakills only came in handy when I was rushing through the ending of the game to restart it (when I realized I had run out of time to do everything I wanted), and in that I used Daisoujou. Apart from that, I like battling, otherwise I'd just use Ryuji's ultra crap Insta-kill ability before the fight.
