Ryuji would have been better if they didn't poke fun at him for being pretty dumb so much. Add in the drama with Morgana, and they both become harder to like

Sure, he's kinda dull, but they seriously did not need to have the guy yell out their secret identities or try fighting a cat for no reason over and over again, to the point where those have practically become his character. in before PQ2 Ryuji is the exact same as normal Ryuji, they can't possibly Flanderize him further

Pretty much, yeah. Its an unfortunate fate, that which befell Ryuji, one I would never wish upon any character. I get the feeling that I might have liked him if they didn't... Well, "take that whole 'idiot' thing to the max". but as it is, he's unfortunately just an annoyance

- - - Yeah, they seemed to take that whole "idiot" thing to the max and it makes him really aggravating to listen to. I literally have no idea how anybody could possibly like that guy as an actual character. He's nothing more than a joke, and a bad one at that. - - - You're oversimplifying him if that is what you think. The game's writing goes beyond mere caricatures. Ryuji has his role, but is still a character nonetheless. Layers, motivation, backstory, progression. Just like the rest. He is the most blunt and simplistic, sure, but some people are like that. And I feel he adds to the group dynamic. I feel the Thieves never would've become what tget did without his passion. And ironically, that same passion led them down the wrong path later on.

But you'll probably go through P5 10 full times before that kind of luck happens...

Ryuji is one of my favorites

Ryuji is one of my favorites He's my favorite of the P5 bunch. Badass design, badass personas, and a badass party member to boot. He has a tendency to yell a lot though.
