A Stormy Story: Beyond the Wind
A fairly unfamiliar face stands atop a large skyscraper, despite the great height, he stands right at the edge of the building. He seems dressed in a fairly odd getup. He has a black rain jacket with network cables hanging off of it, and his pants are a bright pink that fade into yellow and blue pixels. His countenance is plastered with an eerie grin. His only action seems to be observing the city below him. Clouds appear to be gathering in the distance, and a rumbling thunder permeates the area. His grin only ceases as the first few droplets of rain splash against his face. "How boring..." Whatever he seemed to be waiting for must have not kept him there. He leaves the top of the building, much more favoring the open streets. He seems to stroll aimlessly about as the rain begins to pick up about him. Small puddles from on the edges of the street. Almost as soon as the rain started, it abruptly ends. The clouds loom overhead threatening to release another torrent of rain at any second. The young man's jacket and hair are soaked, but he walks as though nothing is happening.
(A 7'3 Snake centipede hybrid jumps onto building to building, following the weird rain man)...hm, water on him...no wet hair...no wet nothin'...interesting....

An older, silver-haired teenager wanders the street, looking at a notepad he keeps on him at all times. He briefly puts the notepad under his grey jacket, looking up at the sky and holding out his hand to catch a few raindrops. Yet, in seconds it has stopped. That's rather strange, with clouds like that I'd expect the rain to keep going. With that, the teen turns to a new page in his notebook and begins writing, some sort of notes, perhaps he will look into the matter, weather phenomena are not particularly uncommon, but it would be nice to discover the cause of this one

I don't get why people are so worried bout rain, who care-wait, another yu?...how many yu's are there!
(edited by Reperzel)
*walks onto the scene* Huh? What's with the weather today? I thought there wasn't going to be any rain today...
(He keeps on jumping from building to building, still following the rain man)...whatever, just gonna follow this guy, and that's all
Walking around the city with his jacket's hood up and using a seemingly pointless cane, Eito frowns upon seeing the rain dissapear. "Nothing good happens when the rain disappears suddenly..." "Don't you agree, John?" A gray haired yet young looking man in completely black clothes steps over to Eito, his expression squarely neutral. He doesn't respond. "Yeah, I thought so..."
(edited by Eito)
The man continues walking through the wet street, some drops of water splashing down beside him from the tops of buildings. A crack pierces the clouds, and several rays of sunlight shine down. The light all centers on the man walking along. His otherwise disinterested gaze looks down at the ground beneath him, noticing it's well lit. "Interesting, I guess..." As soon as he leaves the light, the clouds begin to shift place, and close up to a dreary gray once more. Thunder once again rumbles in the distance, and some drops splash down to the pavement exposed to the sky.
...I knew I should have brought an umbrella. Oh well. *Marisa pulls her robe up to protect her from any rain* Hmm...based on observation, something usually comes out to kill me by now...
(He continues following the rain man)...betting he has "water powers"..... Probably
"Very, very interesting..." Eito starts following the man, humming a melody that's recognizable only to him. John follows in complete silence.
Yu quickly puts his notepad away, careful not to let it get wet, seems its simply spotty showers today. Not particularly uncommon. What is a little odd, is the man the light seems to follow. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, it is worth trying to strike up a conversation with the man. So Yu walks over to Parad and waves, a wide grin across his face Hello there, rather dreary out isn't it? Care to tell me where you're going this afternoon?
Parad stops. He doesn't bother to look at the silver-haired young man. "Yeah, I guess it is...hopefully somewhere fun..." He retrieves an odd ring from within his pocket and begins to fiddle with it. It seemed to be the only thing that brought his smile back to his face. His pace picks up, and he begins to wander away with a slightly faster speed. Almost as if his destination was revealed to him. The rain showers pick up once again, but this time it seems to not bother him at all. Instead he laughs quietly to himself as he makes his way down the street, splashing through puddles.
(He also speeds up)...this is probably a bad idea
Why did this have to happen? The one day I forget to bring an umbrella just in case, suddenly rain happens. Oh well, lesson learned. I'll remember to bring my umbrella next time I go out. *Marisa walks down the road at a brisk pace*
That's... Certainly an odd answer, seems like the person hardly knew, or perhaps cared what was going on. Yu shakes his head as the rain picks back up, he briefly checks his notepad, good, not wet yet, and, seeing the other man get a significant distance away, with somewhat of an entourage, Yu blinks for a moment, and, in an instant, decides to follow after him. Perhaps he'll find something to look into himself.
Eito quickly starts running, John following close behind. Upon reaching Zane's position and hearing him, Eito frowns. "You don't say." He huffs and moves a bit faster.
(He looks over at eito) yeah, but, who knowsssssss, may be sssssometing actually interesssssting well happen
"Can you stop with the hissing?" Eito is obviously irritated at Zane's way of speaking. John also expresses his dislike for Zane by flashing him a murderous stare.
(edited by Eito)
Whoa...1st: it happensss randomly, and 2nd: who the hell is the other guy
As he walks further down the street, the rain picks up. Torrential waves of rain now pound against the buildings that stand to the sides of the way. Lightning arcs across the sky, and thunder crashes shortly following it. If one had a keen eye, they might be able to notice that the thunder echoes across the city in time with Parad's gait. An ominous purple light seems to flow from his person, but it seems to split into red and blue along the fringes. Abruptly Parad seems to fade away from his path, leaving nothing behind nothing but an odd plastic bag, and the ring he was carrying.
This is way too much water! *Marisa flips open a tome and suddenly a bubble is around her, blocking any water from hitting her* I didn't want to use this spell, seeing as how it only has so many uses, but oh well I guess.
"What the hell?" Eito rushes over to the bag and ring to examine them, having give his cane to John. "I'll explain who he is later."
(He jumps off the building, right by eito)....a bag and ring...that'ssss ah new one
(edited by Reperzel)
The ring seems to have a spot for an inlaid gemstone, but currently is lacking one. The bag on the other hand, contains two items. A scrap of paper, and a blue puzzle piece. It's likely inadvisable to open the bag, since it's still raining. From somewhere a voice echoes. "Hey... if you're gonna take the bag, make sure you do something fun, alright?"
...oh God, my father must be getting to me. I'm hearing voices in my head. That, or I'm mistaken and just think I'm going crazy.
Huh?, what?, who?, ah who cares, let's see what it doesss!
(edited by Reperzel)
The ring does nothing of any importance, other than fit snugly on an average size ring finger. As for the bag, it remains unopened so It's hard to see what the scrap of paper says. The rain shows no signs of letting up. The thunder crashes as lightning strikes the rooftops of nearby skyscrapers. A few odd sparks of red and blue fall in the area where Parad once stood.
(He quickly grabs the ring and puts it on one if his centipede arms)....looks good
*Marisa looks at the bag and picks it up* Huh? What's with this bag? Hmm...well, it shouldn't get wet if I open it, thanks to the bubble shield... *Marisa opens it up and takes a look at the scrap of paper*
The small bit of paper reads as such. 'Endless desires for this worthless prize. Perhaps the key to True Victory?' As for Zane the ring burns with the heat of the sun, severely burning the arm he placed it on. After that it simply fell off onto the ground harmlessly. There seems to be one thing left in the bag. A deep blue puzzle piece, the flipside of the puzzle piece seems to be emblazoned with an odd fiery pattern.
...hmm... *Marisa picks up the ring and looks at the puzzle piece* Maybe...these two things go together?
AHHHHHH, FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCKING, OWWWWW
pretty sure yeah
The puzzle piece seems to shimmer and vibrate. As if trying to go somewhere. The ring too vibrates, but instead of attempting to move, it simply glows a soft purple light. By this time, an inexplicable divide appeared in the clouds. Instead of the pure blue sky it would have revealed minutes ago, it looks to be a pitch black night, speckled with stars. The voice reverberates about the area one last time. "This better not get boring alright? I don't want to have to make all the fun myself."
Oh holy shit, this is gonna get weird..
Well, it probably won't get boring. Daughter of the goddess of insanity and general chaos, you know. Wait, who's talking in the first place!? Hell, what do I do with these!? Stick them in random holes throughout the city!?
The rain stops, and the night sky seems to be unobstructed by the normal city lights. Nothing else seems to happen in the sky, but the puzzle piece still vibrates with an immense vigor. "Daughter of a goddess, eh? I knew a god once, interesting, but not that fun. As for the gimmick, why don't you use whatever you have inside that skull of yours and figure it out? Nothing's more boring than idiots who don't know how to play the game."
Oh fuck ya mate...anyways..guess we gotta put the puzzle together?
Okay, let's see here...based on observation, these two items react when close to each other. The paper said something about a key to victory, so...that means that there's a lock somewhere? Maybe the ring fits onto something on the puzzle piece? But that wouldn't explain the change in time, so...hmm...perhaps if I wear it while holding the piece? *Marisa gives the puzzle piece a good long look over to see anything that might give her a clue as to what to do.*
Other than a solid blue side, and a fiery red side, nothing seems out of the ordinary save for its bone chilling coldness. It still vibrates intensely, but other than that nothing seems strange. The puzzle piece seems to be made of an otherworldly metallic substance. "I guess I can give you a hint, staring at it isn't the key."
Hmm...maybe...I have to wear the ring a certain way? It looks like it's missing something...maybe the puzzle piece can help? But there's fire and ice on it...wait...maybe I need to fool around with the temperature of the ring? But why is it vibrating? Well, it's worth a shot. Probably won't work, but all options should be explored before a conclusion is reached. *Marisa puts the ring on while holding the puzzle piece in the same hand*
Imma jussssst leave this to y'all..
Nothing appears to happen for the briefest of moments. Suddenly the ring begins to blaze once more, burning Marisa's finger. The puzzle piece grows increasingly frigid, and could give anyone frostbite from just standing near it. In the night sky, a shooting star passes overhead. "I said try to not make it boring... geez how can anyone here have fun?"
I'm just...not gonna do anything..sense I ain't no anything
Ahh! Hot hot hot! *Marisa removes the ring from her finger* Well I'm sorry, it's not exactly very easy to figure out currently! Wait, when I put the ring closer to the puzzle piece...hmm... *Marisa touches the ring and puzzle piece together*
All that touching them together does is seemingly neutralize the polar opposite temperatures. Nothing more, nothing less. The vibrating seems to stop when the ring touches the puzzle piece, but starts up once again once they separate. "Nobody's fun these days. I set up the game, and people can't play it... Might as well take it back." Parad materializes on a nearby rooftop, and with a quick snap, the ring and puzzle piece fly straight to his hands. He slips the ring on his finger, and stares at the puzzle piece inquisitively. "Hey... how can you think just trying to figure out what it does is any fun to watch...?" He tosses the puzzle piece into the air, and promptly punches it on the fiery side with the side bearing the ring. The piece bursts into a red light, and the ring glows blue. "Such a simple task..." The light falls into the ring, revealing a white gemstone which hadn't been there prior. "I guess the old man WOULD get mad if I played around with his precious research, I thought it'd be fun too..."
Sigh...can ya quit saying "fun"....its getting annoying mate
(edited by Reperzel)
...oh...so you have to use the ring to get to the gemstone that was in the puzzle piece...? Damn, and I was so close to figuring it out! All I needed was one more minute and I could have solved it! Oh well, not like I needed a ring. Father has a few dozen of magic ones back home. Never figured out what they all do...
"Guess you'd never have figured it out either... that puzzle piece? It WAS the gemstone. I'd never let you keep it anyway. I did quite a bit to get this bad boy, so wasting it on someone so dense and boring as you'd be like setting my blood on ice. I'm looking for someone to set my heart ablaze. Not much to do with you morons." He takes off the ring and places it back in his jacket. Not his most powerful item, but it should have at least been interesting. Too bad...
Then show us how it is then, what it can do..
Well, father would be more than fire to you...or anybody, really. She's strong enough to fight armies with nothing but her fists. And when I say armies, I'm talking about a billion soldiers of the highest caliber coming at her with the strongest weapons they have. She's badass like that. To bad she's currently dieing from evil infection.
Parad claps his hands together, his expression taking on a serious look. "Then what are you doing here? If it is as you say, you shouldn't be playing around while someone's dying. Not to mention, I specialize in infections to say the least. Seek professional help, my abilities won't be of any use."
It's not exactly the easiest thing to go into someone's world when they know how to lock it. The plan is simply: go into her world, take out the infection, get out. The lock should be gone by tomorrow. Until then, all I can of is wait and train myself up.
And I'm joining that...tomorrow
Parad fades from sight, his expression a glare. "This is all Decade's fault."
...who the hell is Decade? Whatever, I'm going to McDonald's. Gonna get myself a Happy meal... *Marisa walks off the scene, heading for the nearest McDonald's apparently.*
Agreed. Hiiro appears and disappears as soon as he does Also my girlfriend is still dead.
