The Darkest Moth(?)'s Revival
A large, dark shape descends from the sky towards the trees below. A park. Perfect for a soft landing. A soft buzzing fills the minds of those below. It's like radio static, blocking out all other thoughts. The massive moth-like creature digs its claws into the ground and sweeps the area with its glassy gaze. Good. Everyone down here is too dazed to do much. A slight nudge, and a primal fear is inserted into their minds, paralyzing them. No sense in letting them run off.
A young woman in black armor with an insect-like mask would wander into the area... Upon spotting the beast in front of her, there's also a very large number of bugs trailing behind the girl, mixed into one huge swarm of various types. there's almost this odd sense of static for a moment, right until her mind is overwhelmed with a burning desire for conflict, any sense of fear there might have been is swiftly replaced by something urging the girl to fight. "So, do you always come out here and make people cower in fear? Or is that just your day job? Then again, I'm not sure why I'd expect some giant bug that isn't really a bug at all to speak with me. Let's just get this done quickly." At that she'd pull two things off her belt, a capsule of some unknown design, and a bottle of water. As Skitter opens the water and tosses the other item into it, a few moments later it'd rumble and shake as a huge beast bursts forth. Thick scaled armor coats the thing's body, and it appears to be a giant scorpion, about the size of a battle tank, beyond that there's waves of heat flowing around the beast, and a fire can almost be seen in its body. Even as she speaks, Taylor would take control of her "pet" and urge it to rush forward, aiming to slam its stinger right into the giant moth's chest, and at the same time a swarm of a few hundred wasps would rush for the thing's eyes, aiming to bite and sting at them in order to hopefully distract it and cause an opening.
The moth lets out something between a snarl and a shout and leaps back, the stinger just slashing its chest. All that comes out is a small burst of black. Its eyes don't even blink in response to the wasps. Their stingers bounce off this glass-like substance. Rather disorienting... Your mind is everywhere. It's beyond human. It sounds vaguely excited. It leaps upwards, screeching to disorient the wasps. The tiny bugs aren't a threat, but this may throw off the strange human indirectly.
Taylor's control of the wasps drops, as they get hit by the horrid yelling she'd simply allow their minds to go back to normal, it's a bit cruel, but it'll save her a headache. The wasps simply stumble around confused for a bit, many dropping to the ground and falling dead, those that live through being stunned are quickly taken over again and returned to the swarm. "My mind is everywhere huh? Yeah, that's my power after all! Controlling bugs may not seem like a bunch, but I'd like to think its useful." She's rather annoyed at how the small bugs bounce off, but there must be something... Rather than attempting to sting and bite, she'd aim to send gnats into the thing's body, trying to go through ears and even the mouth if possible to get a look at what's inside her foe. At the same time, the Demon Beast would retort to the moth with its own roar, along with the feeling of heat going up a great deal as jets of flame rush from its mouth, it would spread them all around Heart, aiming to light the creature on fire simply to see how it reacts.
The moth screeches as its flammable fur lights up, crashing down onto the scorpion despite the flames. It's certainly in pain, but still has enough focus to grip the beast's tail in its maw and front claws, giving it a strong tug in an attempt to tear it off. Inside the moth, all the bugs can see is blackness. Around them is a perpetual scream that shakes them to the core.
Taylor's seen enough, that darkness... This thing isn't even alive, is it? She'd quickly cut the link between herself and the gnats. There's no sense being driven mad by this. "I don't know what you are, but I intend to make sure you cease being an issue very shortly." Her words are cold and short, she's clearly not too happy with the whole thing. As for her scorpion, while it is rather harmed by the attempt at tearing its tail off, the thing's armor is connected to it pretty strongly. It would aim to grab hold of Heart between its pincers, hoping to keep crushing the being's body with more and more while blasting out even more flames from its mouth with a roar of pain and rage.
STOP The scorpion's flames cause the moth's stomach to burn away. Multiple black "hands" of darkness emerge from the new hole, grabbing onto the scorpion's head to force its jaws shut. The moth's front claws still dig into the tail, but it's, quite literally, having a hard time keeping itself together.
There's an aura of command in what the beast is trying to do... Taylor almost does stop for a moment. But her Shard is having none of that, instead her mind is filled with bloodlust. She's not about to just let this thing get away and hurt more people though. The hands would indeed force her "pet" to close its jaws, at that point however the girl would get more proactive, she rushes forward and draws the stun baton from her waist, slamming it down into the dark hands with electrical energy flowing through it, she'd aim to force them off and hopefully get her Demon Beast's mouth open again. "I won't stop, not until I've won or lost! That's the way these things go after all, all about getting stronger!" Even she's not sure where that came from, but regardless she'll press on. If the scorpion got it's mouth open, then it would quickly aim to turn upward and begin burning away at the rest of her foe's body, this time mostly hoping to turn the head to dust. It would then take it's own front claws and aim to counter the pulling on it's tail, though the beast can feel that becoming slightly loose by now. If Taylor's efforts to pull the hands off failed however, it would only have one claw to try and push Heart off the tail, as instead the other would be busy slamming itself down onto the hands gripping its mouth.
This is not a favorable matchup, Taylor both senses and hears from the moth. Rather than stay in this lock, the hands retreat, and it jumps back with one of its legs and most of its head gone. Darkness creates crude substitutes for these burned-away parts, but it's clearly unstable. You command a magical beast, I see. Very powerful. But I do wonder, what is inside of you? It seems... They let out a sigh that's more like a thousand whispers. ...like me.
Unknown to Taylor, the moth would begin to hear a voice for a moment. "Administrator shard engaging contact, query. What manner of being are you to speak with us so directly? Statement: I am not sure I would call us alike, but I am simply a shard of something greater, and my host cannot answer your questions on my nature, for she does not know I exist. Even as her shard makes contact with the Moth, Taylor would simply keep on pressing the attack, this time she'd aim to rush toward the giant moth's head, trying to slam her stun baton into it with a leaping strike. Her "pet" on the other hand would try to rush forward, it slices its tail about madly aiming to drag the limb through any part of its foe inside reach, yet only doing so wherever Taylor isn't even as the girl keeps slamming her baton into the moth's body after landing. Its claws would attempt to reach around the moth, hoping to open them and slam the sharp bits right into her back as both other assaults keep going. "Like you? I'm nothing like you! I just want to try and help people where I can... I'm not sure what the point of driving random humans mad is, but I am sure that it's not something I'll stand for!"
I see. I do not know what exactly I am, but it's just as unexplainable as yourself. The response is directed towards the Shard, but Taylor doesn't know that. It seems to be tiring out as its black hands try to push away the claws, while one of its "middle legs" tries to lash out at Taylor. Said leg is promptly stabbed off a second later. Our supernatural nature makes us similar in that respect.
"Statement: I would not call myself supernatural, I am simply... Hm. Retraction: It does seem to fit, in that I am not quite able to explain why the entities I am a shard of exist. Clarification: Regardless of that, my loyalty is to my host, and as she wishes you defeated I shall be sure to do just that. "What are you even talking about? I'm not exactly sure who you're speaking with, but it can't be me, right? I'm just a Parahuman, nothing magical about it." She wasn't quite prepared for that leg to lash out, and it would slam into the girl before being chopped off, that reminds her to gather up her swarm, but rather than attacking they simply watch the Moth for movement... Stupid to lose track of observation. With that, she pulls herself up off the ground and keeps going, slamming away at whatever dark limbs are near her. The scorpion, on the other hand, would quickly mix it up a bit as Taylor suddenly breaks off her attack, once more it roars and lets loose jets of flame from its mouth. Aiming to burn into the darkness that makes up most the moth's body at this point, Taylor simply watching from afar and to evade the flames.
At this point, the moth's body is nearly completely burned up. It debates trying a psychic attack on the scorpion, but its master is resilient enough to make it less effective than usual. A shame. And it had just achieved its most complete form, too. I cannot hold this shape any longer... I understand why you and her allied, though. A competent force, although I feel this beast isn't part of your little deal. With that, what's left of the moth collapses, eventually burning into ash. A trail of shadow flows out of the body and soon vanishes.
Taylor sighs in relief as the moth fades away to nothing... Phew, that one was up there with a guy turning into a dragon, not really sure what she'd have done without that Demon Beast. Speaking of it, the scorpion would begin breaking down as well, it fades into a pile of melted goo on the ground next to the ashes of its foe. "Well, as far as I can nobody got hurt too badly... All in all, I guess this can be called a decent day on the job. Geez, wonder what might have happened here if nobody came to stop that thing?" That cheerful thought in mind, the girl walks off into the city once more. Casually humming to herself and gather up more bugs for her swarm, one thing is sure now... Those monster's of Femt's are something she can use to great effect, no doubt, but relying on them too much seems an unwise choice to her.
