Fightus Catus: Long-Awaited Semi-Final!
It's almost time for round 3's last match. The golden-eyed feline commentator is sitting on a crate in the middle of a maze, with walls about six feet high. In the dead center is a golden cat statue on a pedestal. All that's left to do is wait...
Patiently sitting among the crowd in the stands with his arms and legs crossed was Jiyu. He stared at the golden cat statue in the middle of the arena, remembering his previous fight with Eito. "Let's see how this one plays out..."
Ok Sayaka, you look good, you feel great. You. Can. Do. This. The young girl speaks to herself from atop the arena wall. After taking a deep breath, Sayaka leaps out into the air, creating a single platform for herself to step off, several stories in the air, she soon descends to the edge of the arena, fist first, satisfyingly cracking the floor a little before she stands up IT WORKED, SUPERHERO LANDING!!!!
With a brief flash of light, Sonic appears on the edge of the arena holding a chaos emerald and wearing a cocky grin on his face. He turns to Sayaka and give her a friendly wave. Hey there Sayaka. Long time no see. You ready to make it to the finals? The hedgehog starts idly stretching to pass the time as he waits for their opponent to arrive.
Quibtus would simply walk into the maze-like battlefield they'd be destined to fight in. He was wearing a gray cloak over his usual attire and had an oddly calm look on his face even considering what he was up against. "Well, here I am. Can I make it to the finals? Well, I think it was pretty miraculous I made it this far even." He would simply sigh with a smile on his face before getting into proper position. Win or lose he'd still just have to try his best.
OOC: sorry for the slow responses, still at work for another hour IC:Sayaka let’s out a small sigh before smiling and waving at Sonic Ready as ever. Honestly I’m a little relieved. Guess there’s not much time for that though Sayaka cheerfully stretches her arms before heading to the intended starting position, now that their opponent’s here it should start soon
"Good, good, everyone's finally here! Lemme get the rules down so we can go right away! One! The goal is to grab a golden cat statue and hold onto it! The longer you have it, the more points you earn! There's one sitting on a fancy pedistal here in the center with me. However, I also hid another one somewhere, and there's half of a statue somewhere else... although you'll have to think hard to find the last one! Two! This ends when time's up or a team is taken down! Three! Should anyone go out of the horizontal boundaries of the maze, that's a ring-out! Ready? Begin!" Panthera Dox sets their mic down and... begins eating some chips while sitting on their little crate seat.
Quintus...wouldn't move from the beginning of the maze. He'd stand idly for a moment as a golden aura surrounds him. The only motion he'd make is pushing his arm forward. "Yggdrasil Prime! It's time to take root! Earthly Roots!" The tree Persona would immediately begin sprouting from the ground within the maze, however, it would adjust its size to stay beneath the six-foot limits of the walls. Along with the tree taking place Quintus himself would continue concentrating to bring out fives separate roots. He'd begin focusing his power rather than acting himself in order to increase the number of roots he normally can bring out at once. "This could end pretty badly but I'd say for now the benefits outweigh the costs, well, as long as I don't have to act for a little while." He'd send 3 roots forward down the maze in order to burrow under the walls potentially and reach the middle. A separate root would begin digging underground around the left side of the maze in order to try to feel if anything was amiss underground. The final root would simply remain idle at Quintus' side. Unfortunately, Quintus couldn't exactly see through his roots, only feel, but he hoped he was at least somewhat coordinated enough to properly use them even without seeing. If worse came to worse he also had another trick up his sleeve to make this plan work better. For now, he'd simply sit idly by trying to concentrate on increasing the number of roots he has out.
OOC: what do you mean by “horizontal boundaries?” Can we not go too high, can we not go too far from the maze?
By that, I meant to say there's no limit to how high you can go, so long as you don't go out of the boundaries of the maze
(I got a bit held up, sorry for the wait.) So it's a timed capture the flag? Shouldn't be a problem with my speed. Let's split up and search for those statues Sayaka. I'll get the one in the center before anyone can think twice. With a quick super peel out, Sonic runs up the nearest wall and surveys the top of the arena. Once he determines where the center should be the hedgehog runs along the top of the maze in an attempt to get a one up on Quintus and secure a statue.

Sayaka grins, 6 feet? That’s nothing, the girl casually leaps atop the nearest wall and turns to her partner You’re a bit faster than me, so you should search the maze while I keep our opponent busy, alright? If you ever see him, be sure to shout for me. With that, Sayaka begins jumping from wall to wall, passing by the center in favor of finding the other maze entrance. Since her and Sonic are faster than most, it’s a good place to start searching, and she’d definitely see anyone else trying to go over
The roots travel under the platform, which is elevated about a foot over the actual ground. Sayaka and Sonic can only see the pedistal statue at the moment.
Sayaka grins and passes over the statue, shouting to her partner This is where we split for now, good luck finding the others.... Oh, and do you need a sword? I’ve got plenty. Without actually waiting for a response, Sayaka continues on her way to the other starting area so she can start searching for their opponent
Quintus feeling out the platform would have the roots creep up the sides at a remarkable speed. All three would attempt to wrap themselves around the statue before trying to pull it off to the side to drag it back underground with them. The earlier root that went in a random direction would return back to Quintus having been unsuccessful in its search. Quintus would get up from his meditative trance to prepare something else. "If I can't see anything then that makes searching around near impossible. Alright, Hookworm, it's time for that trick we've been practicing. Resonance Mode: Roots of Hell..." At first Quintus would simply stand completely still before a blood-red energy seems to spread throughout Yggdrasil Prime. The trees color would darken further as red veins spread over not only the tree but to any roots that spread from the tree as well. From the roots, small red insect-like eyes would sprout allow Hookworm to see through the roots. Quintus himself couldn't exactly tell what was going on still but his parasite companion would be able to act on his behalf through the roots. With that done he'd once again have one of the roots take a random position off to the left of the maze but this time it would extend over the walls to look for anything suspicious aside from the center. This would also give his enemies a false position if they were searching for him.
I'll be fine. I'm at home fighting without weapons. With out losing a step, Sonic jumps down and makes a grab at the statue in the center and takes a second to look at his options for progressing through the maze from here. Not the first time I've been in a labyrinth. Should be easier than that time I couldn't run at full speed. That was a nightmare.
Both Sonic and the roots grab the statue. The Blue Blur managed to catch it before it could be dragged away, but it's time for some tug-of-war. Besides our lovely host sitting on their crate in the central area and crunching chips, the area is plain and uniform.

Hookworm could see that Sonic had interjected the root's ability to take the statue away and was ready to strike back. Two of the roots would remain on the statue while the third would extend further trying to wrap around sonic as well. From the root, many thorns would suddenly grow but instead of acting as usual thorns do they would pass straight through anything they touched and begin draining the energy from whatever they passed through instead. Quintus wouldn't know what to make of what Hookworm described the rest of the arena to look like but He already had a feeling of where the other statue might be hidden. Quintus would once again pour all his focus into extending his arsenal of roots, hoping to make another couple to aid in this battle. The root he had sent to scout out the area would return back underground and begin heading for their generous host. It would appear in front of them and begin gesturing at the crate as if to ask if there was anything within it.
Roots? So that's his game. Well I don't think I've seen that before. Not looking to lose that easily, he starts running in an attempt to yank the statue from the grip of the roots when he remembers he has a chaos emerald. I'l play with you some other time. Chaos Control! Distorting the space and time around himself, Sonic warps back to the entrance of the maze, hopefully with the statue as well. Whether he has the statue or not, he'd end up breathing heavier than he started thanks to Hookworm's energy drain.

Alright then, I’ll leave it to you Though Sonic is doubtless our of view by the time she says this, Sayaka shouts in hopes of him hearing. The girl watches their host’s box curiously before descending, while shouting Sorry, I’m gonna need to borrow this. before landing in front of their host and trying to pick up the box, whether or not the host got off. If there’s nothing particularly heavy inside, Sayaka would take the box with her as she jumps to the next wall in search of their opponent
Sonic teleports out with statue in hand. Panthera Dox is taken along for the ride as the box is lifted up. There's no bottom, so the statue underneath just gets uncovered. Quintus will probably be able to snatch it since Sayaka's still holding both the crate and the catto on top at the moment.

The root would latch onto the statue quickly and try to drag it into the ground. Meanwhile, the other three roots would return to Quintus' position having no further reason to remain where they are. Quintus having had time to concentrate further brings out a sixths root before finally releasing his focus. It seemed this was his limit for now. "Alright, time to find that half a statue. I wonder where they might've hidden it." With that question put out there Quintus himself would begin walking through the maze casually as Yggdrasil Prime remains at the starting point. Around Quintus, as he walks would be five out of the six roots he brought out swirling around him while moving through the ground beneath.
Sayaka was honestly hoping the cat would jump off so she could use the box as a projectile, but finding the second statue is probably the next best thing. Sayaka would toss the box aside, before trying to scoop up the statue. Whoever got it, Sayaka wouldn’t fool with the statue further, instead just leaping atop the nearest wall to continue her journey to the other starting area
Alright. One down, just another one to find and keep away. Keeping the statue close to his chest, the hedgehog make his way through the maze at a more normal jogging pace. Deciding to place his bets on the opposite direction than what Qunitus chose, he hangs to the left walls of the maze in his search. It wouldn't just be lying out in the open would it? At times like this I should think like Knuckles. He always found a way to get to the treasure.
The remaining half a the statue is nowhere in sight in this dull place, nor are there any hidden passages save for the holes the Persona's roots made. Panthera Dox huffs slightly as they're tossed aside with their box (but somehow stays on). A root oh-so-rudely prevents Sayaka from taking the statue as it tugs said statue undeground.

Quintus would continue walking a little longer before stopping again at a wall. He wasn't sure how to proceed. Should he attempt to fight his opponents directly or continue trying to find the other statue half? He wasn't too confident in his ability to take on someone like Sayaka directly but he also didn't feel like the final half was going to be simple to find. He had an idea, it wasn't likely to work but a more simple route was better than grasping at straws. He would attempt to make his way through the maze to reach the center where Panthera Dox would be sitting. As an extra precaution, he'd also have one of the five roots burrow itself into the ground. He'd use it as an element of surprise as his opponents should only expect a maximum of four roots from him.
makes what amounts to the exact same post for the fifth time in a row in hopes of maybe getting to do something. No, I'm not bitter. not even slightly. Why would you suggest that?
OOC: I mean, you've been going to the same location unimpeded for several posts so I'd think that you could just assume you reached it.
Sorry, sorry. The narrator nudges Sayaka over to where Quintus is, because from up high, it's not hard to see him heading to the center.
After walking around a little longer in hopes of finding something of note, Sonic changes his approach up. Curling into a ball and revving up for a spindash, he releases and goes up a wall, launching into the air. Uncurling, he looks around the maze from his temporary bird's eye view to try and get a better idea of the maze's layout.
The maze is very simple, with the only thing of note being the chaos in the center. Panthera Dox doesn't move from their spot as they overdramatically pout on their crate.
Quintus would continue making his way to the maze's center at a moderate pace. He was unaware that Sayaka was looming above but he still had his guard up, ready to defend against potential attacks with the four roots surrounding him. The one beneath him within the ground was also ready to strike but not as suddenly considering it would take time for it to dig out of the ground. As for the root with the statue. It would remain underground near Yggdrasil Prime. There was no need for it to surface and if need be it could even hide the statue within the Persona.
It's looking pretty empty in here after all. Unless the statue's under the ground I don't know where it could be... With nothing to lose he curls into a ball again and suddenly rockets towards Panthera, homing onto his position. Uncurling at the last second and taking hold of the feline host and attempting to drag him off the crate and down to the ground below. It's not against the rules to ask the host for a hint is it?
OOC: my apologies, I don't think I can do any more. Sorry for the inconvenience
Understandable, we'll make arrangements for another time
