I played Danganronpa.
Gotta say that was some crazy shit. Unfortunately, the actual gameplay with the class trials just started feeling like a slog after a while, so I'll likely just watch playthroughs for the rest of the series on youtube. I did see that there was one action game, so I may check that out at some point.
No, you should definitely play the games yourself. Trust me, the class trials get WAAYYY better after the first game, and playthrough thumbnails can spoil you. As for the action game, that one is 100% better experienced played. But yeah, play them yourself if possible. It really ramps up the ~despair~ factor. Upupupupu~
I actually have 2 as part of the PS4 collection, so I guess I may as well play through it. And I was definitely intending to play the action game (I keep forgetting the name). As for spoilers, I've already seen a bit, but they were out of order and not too long, so I likely won't remember enough for it to affect my enjoyment.
Also as a note, V3 is probably the best in term of trial games. They add a bunch of new debate types, make a few hated games more fun to play, etc. However, the ending is a bit of a hit-or-miss in the fanbase, but all you need to know is if you decide to get V3, know you're in for a huge mind-fuck, all the time. 4 out of 5 murder bears recommend it!
The gameplay does indeed improve, but be prepared for the story to get wild. I don't necessarily mean in a good way though, but it's a matter of opinion. Personally the second game gameplay wise does an amazing job of building off from the end of the first game, but everything else drove me to madness. Story wise the series just got very, very... not good.
V3 is my favorite of the games trial-wise. While I love the ending, I can see how many people might not like it. Danganronpa 1 was my favorite story-wise, but that it because it was the first one and afterward, I had an idea of how things will go. I recommend playing the games in order. Playing in order will help with any confusion that might happen.
I am a murder bear myself so I can indeed say that I recommend it.
It's better to play the games yourself. Spoilers are crazy for a game like this.
Ain't there like 53 games in the series?
Fifty three and some books.

Story wise the series just got very, very... not good. Eh even by the end of the first game, the story gets pretty stupid what with a teenage girl taking over and destroying the world and going through all the steps to orchestrate her little killing game all for the sake of fulfilling what's essentially a deranged fetish. Plus I've already seen bits of AE and some of the end of V3

Don't kill me plz. Don't worry, I won't. yet
