Do we really need a Persona 6?
Recently i saw a thread about what do«people want to see in Persona 6, however I think P6 is a bad idea. I'm probably with the minority here, but I want to hear your opinion.
Well they're obviously not gonna release it now, but in a few years they could do it.
Well of course they're not going to release it now, that would be stupid. P-Studio is now focused on Catherine for Ps4 and PQ2.
Why not P6
Gin
There'll be a new one, but not for about 5 or so years yet. Gotta get some spin-offs going first, after all.
Why not P6 It would either be the same as P5 (in terms of gameplay) or it would be worse. I think P5 is the limit for Persona games, and with our boi Katsura Hashino leaving I don't think they will be able to maintain the series alive.

Also, the persona games all have unrelated plots, so it’s not like they keep reviving a dead story. It’s a different story each time, with similar premises, and personas, which I think are a cool thing.

But I'm not talking about the story, I'm talking about gameplay which for a JRPG is one of the most important parts

Also, as long as they keep adding new, interesting game mechanics, it isn’t necessary to completely change the gameplay. Like in P5, there are a bunch of new things that weren’t in any other persona games.

While the earlier games are not as well known compared to P3 and onwards, the series and franchise has proven before the series can do quite well without Katsura Hashino, and it did do quite well without Kouji Okada. While you may like what they bring to the table for these games, the series does not solely stay afloat due to one person's involvement. Besides, Persona 5 is definitely not the limit. P5 improved a lot from previous games, but it still had a lot that could be improved upon in many regards both in narrative and gameplay structure. A simple example would be P5 adding Confidant skills, a genius idea that expands upon something from an earlier game if you ask me, but there are several examples of these being awkwardly balanced.
I hate this it's rude for me to hate it but I just hate it
There'll always be a new Persona. And sure some of the senior team has moved on, but that just means fresh blood and fresh ideas. We had it going from P2 into P3, and we'll get it from P5 going into P6. Heck, Final Fantasy does it all the time. And even Nintendo is going through a sea change in their senior development. And sure P5 might be the best Persona game so far, but it's not a 10/10 game, nor was it even Game of the Year. Given how.... rather bland and predictable the story had become with P5 and how.... eh the cast was, maybe we actually need fresh ideas.
In my eyes P5 is flawed, and not of the quality of a 2017 game, but is incedbily inventive and well-made nontheless. If they made P6 using a similar engine to P5 but an updated and refined version, P6 could very well be a masterpiece
