The boy would look over to the teacher with a sigh.
"It's fine, just gave me a chance to start explaining a little bit."
He'd look over to everyone as if trying to size them all up.
"Alright then, guess we can get started. I better introduce myself. I'm Mino Kenshin, I used to be a student here as well. Anyway, guess I'll be blunt in saying that while I did go to school here I never actually graduated.
That's actually the reason so many rumours have spread around about me, to most of the students who attended along with me it seemed like I had just disappeared out of nowhere but actually, it has more to do with my success at the time.
Uh, I suppose there's no point in hiding it. Not sure if anyone here has heard of it but there was a piece of software released a few years back. It was kind of like a virtual world of sorts with realistic AI that was able to mimic emotion from the ones using the program.
It was mostly popular among tech fanatics but...
I was actually the one who developed that. It was because of that program that I got hired for some other projects. To keep it short, I dropped out of school to pursue those projects but because of my success, the school also agreed to let me host a club here.
It's a little complicated and hardly the reason why any of you are here from what I can tell."
Mino almost seemed a little uncomfortable explaining his own situation as if he barely knew how to in the first place. As if just skipping over any more details about himself he'd go back behind the desk where his computer was set up and pull out a bag.
"I already have a test set up for today. In this bag are something from the last project I worked on. A special device that can create VR so advanced that it's indistinguishable from reality. When you're all ready, feel free to reach into the bag and take a device. They'll look like electronic watches so they should be self-explanatory as to how you put them on.
However, the moment you've put one on you should be aware that that's like a promise that you'll stay in this club. The watches aren't cheap and once you put one on it sorta recognizes you as its user.
Oh right, Mr. Kisaragi, you should take one too of course. You'll be partaking in today's test too I'd assume?"
Mino would hold the bag open for everyone to take one of the devices. Inside the bag would e a large number of silver watches with screens attached to them. The watches would remain dormant for the moment as if they had yet to be powered on.
