Phansona 6-Shadow Operatives Side: A New Chance
OOC: Same deal as with the other thread. The participants of this thread were decided ahead of time. The day would begin to dawn on Sefer highschool as the final bell would begin to ring. Everyone would be either heading home or to their respective clubs, well, everyone except a group of students who had been told to stay after class. It had been a trend of one homeroom teacher to have the kids in his class stay after school for a few days now. He said it was to perform a test of sorts that was mandatory for all students to participate in. Today was the day a particular set of students was called out. They would all be sitting in the class still waiting for the teacher to arrive. About 30 minutes had passed already since school had ended.
Shinobu, as usual, would have his head buried in his arms atop his desk. The slow rising and falling of his shoulders the only indication he was still with the living. He was stopped before he headed home to stay behind and thus decided he would simply continue to dream until whatever kind of test was being done was finished.
Niko would be sitting at her desk, her fingers impatiently tapping on the surface, her eyes darting around eagerly. She'd occasionally try and peer out of the window, a hopeless effort to try and see the newspaper club gathering, despite the fact that she knew they wouldn't gather outside spontaneously. Why am I being held after class anyways? She mumbled to herself, her eyes narrowed in frustration.
A young man sits at his desk, a notebook out as he scribbles down various things. Most might think he's taking notes for school, he's not. " I Wonder if those rumors about some so-called other-world recently are worth anything? If so, it's one heck of a case to crack." The notes are runes and formulas, most of which Tadashi is reasonably sure aren't worth too much that are more for practice than anything. A few however are, if not overly important of at least some mystic significance. Even so, he shuts the notebook with a sigh and looks around the room. After a moment, he looks towards Shinobu before deciding against bothering the other boy. "Geez, what's this test about anyways, nobody's tossing stupid papers at me so it can't be the usual brand of tests. Hah, maybe they're testing for magical power or something. As if a school would know how."
The blond boy would be standing by the window a few moments after the bell rang. His blue eyes would dance around the schoolyard, watching his schoolmates go about their business. He grins before spinning on his heel and marching back to his desk to gather his learning materials. He'd quickly place them into his bag before slicking back his hair and sliding into his seat. "I wish Sensei would've saved this for another day... geez... I have some pretty lousy luck!" The boy sighs and a smile quickly reclaims his face. Hearing Tadashi speaking would prompt him to turn to the boy. "Yo, Tada-chan! Still chasing ghosts I see! Find anything good lately?"
FInally after waiting for a while a man with messy black hair would walk into the room wearing an overly formal suit. The students would recognize this man as their homeroom teacher, Yamane Suezo. He seemed tense at the moment as if he just got off the phone with someone. Mr. Suezo: "I apologize for the delay, I got an important call that I had to take. Hope you weren't waiting too long. Anyway, uh, I know this seems a bit awkward but I'd like you all to reintroduce yourselves. Some of you may not be properly acquainted and it would help me check you off my list." The man would go over to a desktop computer on his desk and begin checking over a list he had made previously to ensure all the students were tested. Mr. Suezo: "This test shouldn't take too long as long as we don't discover anything abnormal. Think of this as a physical exam if that helps. Also, I see one student is absent today. That's not exactly good but since most of you showed up it won't matter too much."
Tadashi turns to Kaito with a sigh, he could easily go over and give the guy a good blow for that stupid name but that'd be a horrible abuse of his skills. So he just glares for a moment before speaking to the boy. "Define good, I've always got the usual... Our world's a mess ya know. But anything I can properly verify? Iffy, ghost stories float around and people. On the other hand, I do have some interesting accounts of a man in Chicago over in the US, a lot of people say he's a wizard, and oddly he's also solved some serious murder cases. Beyond that though, not really." As the teacher enters the room Tadashi sighs, giving their names out and crap all over again. As if anyone here doesn't know his name. "Geez, fine I can say it again. Tadashi Yagami, aspiring detective and it's nice to meet you on the off chance anyone didn't know. Beyond that, my hobbies include looking into the occult as I'm sure you'll hear if you didn't by now."
Shinobu would be called from the world of dreams by the teachers voice. Listening intently before letting out a yawn. He wouldn't stand, instead introducing himself from his seat. "Hashimoto Shinobu. Sensei, what exactly is this all about? Does it have anything to do with a few recent rumors?" the boy would ask, though judging from his face whether he was really a boy or girl was another matter.
"Physical exam? But... Suezo-Sensei, isn't this supposed to be handled by gym teachers? I mean this hardly seems like the environment for that." She tilted her head and shrugged, standing up and walking to the front of the class. She'd put her arms to her sides and bow to the class. "My name is Kobayashi Niko, avid member of the Sefer High Newspaper Club! A pleasure to be reacquainted with you!" She trots back over to her seat, giving Tadashi a quick glance with a raised eyebrow and a quick mumble. He's got a good imagination huh?
He flashes Tadashi a wink. "Very nice Tada-chan! Keep up the hardwork!" He happily listens to the introductions of his classmates before standing up from his seat. "Looks like I'm up next, huh? Well the name's Kaito Rikai, and I'm nothing special! I'm not in a club, but I volunteer around to help out where I can! Pleased to meetcha all again!" He does a brief salute before bowing deeply. As he rises his attention is pulled to his teacher. "So what's the test Suezo-sensei? 'Cause I'm ready to rock 'n roll!"
Kira was seen rushing into the room, panting "..Sorry I'm late everyone!" He said rather apologetically
Yamane would nod along with each students response as he marked them off his list. Finally, Kira would barge into the room causing Yamane to have to stand up and greet him after checking him off his list as the last one. Mr. Suezo: "Tachibana Kira, correct? Did you get lost somehow on the way? It doesn't matter. It seems like everyone's mostly acquainted already so I'll be explaining the test now." He'd reach into his bag he was carrying with him and pull out a strange looking device. It almost looked like a gun or medical device of some sort. There was a screen on the side of the device that would be completely black as if not turned on. "Mr. Suezo: "The reason your gym teachers wouldn't be conducting this test is simply that this isn't a serious test at all. All I'm going to do is press the tool up to your arm. It will detect your blood levels and stress. This test is mostly to see if students are overly stressed and require special attention. I promise you won't feel a thing, mostly because this tool only scans you from the outside. Now, one at a time I'll ask you all to come up, then after I've scanned you, you should sit back down so that I can report any abnormal results." Little did most of the students know but this tool actually was a special evoker meant to measure Persona arcana and potential. Each time he scanned someone it would give information on arcana and overall potential. The score would estimate with a number between 1-100. Anything above 50 was what he was really looking for, so far most students couldn't seem to pass this mark with either no potential or limited potential but above 50 should be able to manifest a persona through the right means.
OOC: Uh, no, sorry Rep. This is a closed thread. Those who are participating planned ahead of time in my plot planning discord server.
"Um...Ok...?" Kira said slightly confounded. Do you normally use a...device like that to test abnormal stress on the body? Wouldn't that usually be the case for Stethoscopes and blood pressure tests? However, because he didn't want to interrupt, he refrained from asking any questions and just shrugged the thoughts out. He decided to walk forward and go first
(edited by Kira_Tachibana)
Tadashi walks forward, he'd like to get this strange stuff over with so he can get back to his strange stuff sooner. "Well then go ahead and get this over with man, I'm kinda curious on the sudden shift in what this school is doing but hey not my problem to worry with right." He'd stand in front of the teacher long enough for this thing to be done, followed by simply walking back to his seat and simply laying down on the desk for now. Geez, there are many better cases out there to try and solve rather than sitting around here. "Ugh, nothing exciting ever happens in this school..."
Niko trots over to the teacher, standing before him like a statue for just long enough for the test to be performed before walking back to her seat, stiff as stone. She'd then go back to tapping the desk impatiently, still waiting for an opening to leave.
Kaito laughs boisterously as his teacher explains the test. "Bwahaha! Sorry Sensei, I expected something a little more. And if this thing is going to measure stress then I'm curious to see the results! Nothing can get me down after all!" He quickly stands up and almost skips up to the front desk. He was quite excited by the fancy looking tool.
im sorry to ask mid rp mino, but sense i wanna, can ya send the discord, cuz why not?
Shinobu would be skeptical though he doesn't show it. There were plenty of other ways to go about this and considering that the school didn't even announce a health exam made this shady at best. It was as if they were checking for something else. He wouldn't comment on it and would take the test as well so he could try to get a better understanding of whats really going on. He walks up to his sensei, let's him scan him while trying to get a small glimpse of the computer before returning to his seat.
Yamane would look over each of the results seemingly by looking at the small screen on the device. Shinobu would see nothing on the computer by a roster with each students name on it. Finally, Yamane would nod as he looked somewhat pleased. Mr. Suezo: "Alright, found exactly what I was looking for... Tachibana Kira - 63 Yagami Tadashi - 95 Koboyashi Niko - 93 Rikai Kaito - 80 Hashimoto Shinobu - 61 I apologize, as a teacher, I should never lie but it's an important part of my other job to keep things somewhat of a secret. I'll come clean now but only if I have you're assistance in a new club that has just been formed here in this school. Perhaps you could even tell me what you believe those numbers represent." The man would put the device back into his bag and begin to pull out a somewhat small but shiny briefcase. He'd hold it at his side for a moment before continuing to speak. "Now, the proposition I'm about to make is important, however, if any of you don't wish to continue this conversation then you're free to leave now."
"Well you said stress levels, right? I am part of the newspaper club, I've got quite a busy schedule. But you're talking about a new club... does this mean I have to give up writing?" Niko looked a little distressed for a moment, but she still seemed level headed enough. As soon as a 'proposition' is mentioned, her face grows stern, eyes narrowed in focus. "I don't have a reason to leave. Let's hear it, Sensei."
"Well..." Kira thought for a moment, could this be a clue to where she went? Perhaps he knows? Whatever the case, he must know. "...I will listen to what you have to say." He said, with determination in his words.
Tadashi sits up a bit, giving the "teacher" a dead serious look as he stands up and places his hands in his pockets. "If I had a buck for every time some teacher offering strange mysterious stuff turned out to lead to danger I'd be filthy rich... But hey, I'd be a crappy detective if I wasn't willing to get into a little trouble for a case, so hell with it let's see where this one leads." He walks forward to the man with a sly smirk on his face, something about this whole mess feels strange and he turns around to face the others in the classroom with a solemn look on his face. "Now, I can't speak for you guys... Something tells me whatever we're going into here is dangerous, if you want to back down now's the time and I wouldn't begrudge anyone for that. Me though, as an aspiring detective of all things supernatural my mind's been made up for ages."
Kaito looks over to the window for a moment. "So Sensei had to up and lie to us, huh?" The boy lets out a soft chuckle before marching up to his teacher. He looked the man right in the eye and smiled. "I'm not sure what those numbers are all about, but what I do know is if you had to lie... then it must have been very important. And if I can help out in any way, well... it looks like I'm finally joining a club Sensei!" He spins on his heel once again after hearing Tadashi's warning. "No good, no good... Tada-chan, you need to say something like, I will make sure to protect all of you, so let's do our best! You got the highest score after all!"
He would stare at the numbers while his head rested upon his arms. So these weren't measuring stress levels. And he mentioned a second job? This couldn't have anything to do with that government project could it. That would be ridiculous to enact it in a high school. Well, in the end he didn't exactly know that for sure. "What is this really about. A club that can only be joined if your numbers are high enough. Something like that isn't sanctioned by the school board is it?" it was a stretch but he would ask anyways "Maybe, the government has a hand in this?"
Yamane would begin walking towards the doors and making sure they were locked. He would then go over to the windows and begin closing the blinds. He seemed to be ensuring nobody could see or hear what would be being said in the room at the moment. "I'll get to the point then, perhaps you've heard of strange events occurring all over Japan in the last several decades. Tokyo being closed off randomly for a few days, rumours oddly coming true, An extra hour in the day only certain people can witness, a string of murders in a small town with no external wounds on the victims, a group capable of making the guilty confess their crimes, and even people disappearing with no trace... I suppose you could say that such tasks are part of my job when they meet a certain specification. Though you could say recently we've been a bit more involved with the government. Usually, our organization doesn't require much interference from the Japanese government. We're funded by a separate group and our leader doesn't trust the military not to try and abuse the powers at hand but apparently, that doesn't stop the government from conducting certain 'experiments' that have gone a bit haywire. The bottom line is that our organization is in need of help from some fresh faces with adequate potential and so far you're the only group with scores consistently above 50. I'll be blunt about this, disappearances within the past few years have been tied back to this. People didn't know what they were dealing with and caused a lot of harm and now that the government has lost control of their 'experiment' there's no telling what could happen." Finally, he would open the briefcase to reveal a set of five silver watches. They would all shine as if they were brand new. "I'll cut the vague talk but only if you truly accept. Take a watch and put it on but the moment you put one on it isn't coming off. You'll be committed to this and become a member of our group. I may be a member of that organization but I'm also still a teacher, I'd never ask my students to commit to something they didn't want. This is your last chance to walk away if that's what you choose."
Kira stared at the watches for a moment. Part of him was already telling him 'No! don't you stupid idiot! do you want to be in danger?! Do you want to die?!' ...But he threw that aside for a moment where he stepped forward and took a watch before he started putting it on. "I would, but there's someone who I know that went missing lately, and I need to find her before its too late, so count me in." He said, a pure fire of determination can be seen in his eyes. Whatever he had done right now, there is no turning back.
Protect everyone... Something like that's a big deal, he'd look at Kaito with a cool face and speak up a bit. "Maybe so, but I've got a saying about things like that... 'Don't make an oath you can't keep.', I'm as clueless as anyone when it comes down to life or death struggles. So yeah, this sounds interesting to me no doubt. But I won't promise I can protect people when I'm not even sure I can protect myself. I'll say I'll do my best because that's what I always strive for, but any more would be empty words I can't truly assure." He then glances at Shinobu, yeah the thoughts there are obvious. The info broker's got a detective's mind in many ways so it's no shock he'd get there too. Tadashi nods, but then walks up and takes hold of a watch, placing it on his right wrist and looking down at the thing with a keen eye. "Now then, I've looked into these rumors you mention of course. Like I say, our world's a mess teach so it doesn't shock me to hear that at all. And as for the little vanishing acts, honestly, I was expecting some cult of madmen or another but the government..." He laughs for a bit, for once Tadashi actually guessed too sensibly. "People call me crazy all the time, so it's kinda funny knowing for once my theory was actually too normal."
In one way many of his questions were answered but in another many more were created. But even more so what he heard was something he could not ignore. Shinobu quickly leaped onto his feet from his chair causing it to fall to the floor as he, for the first time in front of his classmates, lost his composure. "You said disappearances?! Does that mean you know what happened back then!? At the Nijo grade school incident!" he practically shouted at the teacher as he felt his heart pump. He practically stomped up to the teacher, snatching one of the wrist watches. "I'll have you tell me everything." he said as he put the watch on.
Niko widened her eyes at hearing all of this. Extra hours in the day? Murders in a small town? A group making the guilty confess their crimes? It was all quite a bit for her. On top of that, he's mentioning government experiments! This was something way larger than she had ever hoped to be involved with in her life. She put a hand on her chest, as if trying to ease herself. "Suezo-Sensei, I just have one question. If we decide to accept this, would we be putting ourselves at risk?"
Kaito does his best to follow along with his teacher's explanation. He had known about some strange goings on in the past, but never the details surrounding any of the incidents. As the briefcase opened, he swallowed hard. "Sensei's group needs our help to make things right? I can't help but feel like you may be passing the buck to people in way over their heads..." He walks over to the case and takes out a watch. It sparkles as he fastens it to his right wrist. "I can't sit back knowing that I could be out there making a difference. So I'm game to do what needs to be done Sensei. Because that's what youth is all about! Having the guts to do what you want to and living life to the fullest! Bwahahaha!" His boisterous laugh once again fills the room before coming to a sudden stop. Kaito's face would almost get as white as a ghost before speaking up. "O-Oi... Sensei... c-can we actually not take these off now? Are they waterproof!? Sensei, I can't live without my baths!"
Seeing most of them take the watch Yamane would smile nervously. It was never easy watching students accept such a responsibility but his choices were limited and he knew how desperate the situation actually was. "There's always a bit of risk with circumstances like this. I was around your ages as well when I was first recruited. As long as you can survive though you won't be hurt, not physically at least. We wouldn't be doing this but things have become... Desperate and those watches are actually half of the reason why. They can only be handed safety to those with no experience with what we call Personas and Shadows. It'd be hard to explain everything right now and I'd rather take this a little slowly at first. This stuff isn't easy for everyone to adjust to. If you're worried then you won't be forced to stay Kobayashi." Yamane would look at Kaito with a somewhat more cheery expression. "The watches were designed to survive much worse than a little water. Taking off the watch wasn't literal, these watches bond with their wearers in a way though, there aren't many ways to unbind them from the wielders either. I promise I'll reveal everything when the time is right, I'm on the side that want's to find out what's going on as well but even the information I have is limited in some ways."
Personas? Those are words he's heard on strange message boards full of bad info, hearing it from Yamane is... Strange to say the least. "So, are the stories about those Persona things true? I've never seen any truly verified reports but... Some toss about the idea of such things as beings which can be summoned forth somehow, like that story of the 'Persona Game' thing that floats around now and then. Weird to know those exact rumors were true, however. And Shadows, that's new to me." He looks down at the watch, tapping whatever seems to be a power button on the thing and then looking up to the Shadow Op. "So anyway, what exactly do those Shadow things do, and for that matter are Personas actually what I think... Moreover, how do the watches relate to either?"
"Desperate, huh? Sounds like it's even worse than I had initially thought. That's rough Sensei! And you're not really making it sound too safe..." Kaito grins even at the sound of something so risky. "But if Sensei managed to do it, then I'll do my best to make sure everyone who joins stays safe." His expression softens into a warm smile after hearing that the watches wouldn't get in the way of his baths. "By the way, when is the time going to be right to talk about these shadows and personas? 'Cause what do they have to do with anything?"
Personas? Shadows? Kira thought to himself, those sound like Jungian psychology, but what do they have to do with the current situation at hand. The "Persona Game" was slightly familar to him once Tadashi brought it up, but more importantly... "...Is there any way we can find people who went missing due to this?"
"Well I respect the honesty. I'll go through with it. I doubt you would be offering me this position if you didn't have faith in us, Sensei." Niko reaches for a watch, raising a brow before putting it around her wrist. Definitely not my style... She stares at the group before her, sighing. This was to be her team, right? Best get along.
Shinobu would remain quiet. Patience is what he needed now. He would calm his breathing as he combed his memories. All the things he talked about were familiar and he had quite a bit of info on them he collected throughout the past couple years but he never had anything really solid besides some unreliable testimonies and blurred photos with ambiguous shots. "I'll help for now. Can't say I'm looking forward to where this will take me." But if there is even the slightest chance he'll grab hold of it with his own hands. That's what he thought as he looked over the watch
(edited by Shinobu_Hashimoto)
The watch would power on simply from Tadashi moving his hand near it as if it was motion powered. The screen would flash a brief animation with the word "HOPE" flashing across the screen before bringing up a small menu with an icon in the topmost corner that seemed to indicate the need for voice commands. From top to bottom only two phrases could be seen as visible with others simply not being visible at the moment: Log In Persona Yamane would look back at the students and address their questions one at a time. First, he would turn to Kaito. "Perhaps it may be better for you to experience what shadows are first hand, though that could be dangerous as well. These watches have some strange features programmed in that don't exactly make shadows easy to deal with the usual way but they also have their own set of defences too. I suppose it wouldn't be too dangerous if I start off with the basics but first I should instruct you with how the watches work. They're somewhat complicated, not exactly designed for ease of use." Yamane's lecture would be interrupted by Kira's question. Yamane would look sombre for a moment as if not sure how to answer the question. "Nothing can be guaranteed but at very least the fates of those who have disappeared is still unknown which means there is still hope. The alternative...well the people who have reappeared aren't in a very stable state. Perhaps it's better if I leave it at that but this is the first time we'd be exploring the cause of where people seem to be disappearing too." He would continue looking around the room as if waiting for everyone to settle in before going any further. "Alright, first of all, if I wasn't clear before, these devices are called HOPE devices. We're not sure on their exact origin as the government supplied them to us without explaining much behind how they work and who created them. The most we know is the HOPE stands for Hyper Oriented Persona Emulation. Think of them as a way to naturally invoke what we call a Persona, a being who's somewhat like another version of yourself. In the past, we who are called the Shadow Operatives utilized devices know as Evokers to force a Persona awakening but there were allows risks involved with that method. The sheer fact that these devices can accomplish what we haven't in years even with our resources is...well, it's hard to believe and we even have reason to believe that the creator of the shadow world we discovered has some connection to the creation of the devices as well. Oh right, I forgot about shadows, if Personas are a manifestation of your will then I guess shadows are kind of like the opposite, manifestations of stray uncontrolled emotion. Most of them are more the result of many people's stray emotions being pieced together then of just one person so they don't exactly have much coherent thought. Anyway, a shadow world is where these creatures reside and until recently we only believed they could manifest in the physical world or at least in an interpretation of the physical world. To be honest, this new shadow world defies all logic and reasoning. From what little information we have it seems as though someone in the government figured out how to capture shadows made from emotions being sent out through the internet. Any questions so far? I know it's a lot to take in and probably not that easy to understand."
Shinobu would be looking over the device as he listened to sensei before he caught two pieces of information that stuck out to him. "You said the creator of the shadow world? The shadow world you're referring to is artificial? Aren't they supposed to be like natural phenomena?" he said assuming the world themselves worked similar to the shadows that inhabited them. "Also, if you think these watches were made by the creator of this 'artificial' shadow world then for what purpose? Is there any motive that can be inferred from giving such an advanced device to the government? What would he get out of this?" he would then look up at his sensei, staring him in the eyes "And what do you mean sending them through the internet? How exactly would you even go about that?" a curious glint in his eyes
"This is quite a bit to take in... I guess it's to be expected though." She stared down at the watch as her teacher spoke about their purpose. Shadow world, Personas, shadows. Such an outrageous concept, yet in some way, she almost felt like all the pieces were aligning. Every single incident she'd heard about, from Inaba to the vigilante group in Tokyo almost seemed to explain themselves at that point. "So... Sensei, you said shadows in the past have been capable of manifesting in the real world, right? Are people aside from us in danger of being attacked by shadows?"
"Hope..." Kira said thoughtfully to himself...yes, there was still hope after all...and hope in dealing with the shadows...perhaps thats why the HOPE devices were named such. "Yeah, there is still hope..." He said to himself again, within an earshot. But the word "Evoker" got his attention, though, more importantly... "...WHY does the government not tell us where they came from?" he asked, a bit concerned on that part.
Tadashi... Just smirks and nods along, so far this is making perfect sense to him. But he's got some questions as well. "First off I'll second the questions asked by Shinobu, all of those are solid things to wonder about... Moreover though, how exactly do these watches get used?" This other world, Personas, nothing he didn't have a guess at. Shadows are new but add up fairly well all things considered. However, some bits stick out to him as well. "And, why exactly are they called emulation devices? Does this mean it's not quite an actual Persona, but rather something else?" "Beyond that, I'm rather curious when we'll actually get to put them to use. If this place is a danger to people as you say... Then I'm not planning to waste any time sitting around, someone has to help and it might as well be us."
Kaito cracks his knuckles as he listens intently to his teacher, eyeing his new bracelet as he does. All the info all at once was kind of disorienting, but it couldn't be helped. Upon hearing Tadashi finish speaking, Kaito would walk over and clap his hand against Tadashi's back. "Very nice, Tada-chan! That's the type of impact you need if you want to really help people!" He laughs boisterously before turning his attention back to his teacher. "I don't have much to add on my own, Sensei. However, Shin-chan and Niko-tan both raise very good questions. Of course I'm all for hands on learning with Shadows. I don't want to let anyone get hurt anymore!"
Yamane would look at Shinobu as he tried to figure out how to best answer their questions. "Those certainly are some questions and the answers are no simple thing. Honestly, I'm not a complete expert on the topic of shadows. I only really understand the basics of what they are and what a shadow world is. If you wanted answers to all those questions then you'd have to ask the person responsible directly. All that's known is that people are suffering because of their actions in this. That's all we need to know before deciding to get involved but the government's involvement certainly makes this more difficult to deal with." Yamane would look at Niko next before continuing with his answers. "Certain shadows within this virtual space seemed to have been "reprogrammed" into powerful entities that have been identified as "sefirots". We can only assume this is the work of the same individual who created the world. Regardless, the most troubling ability these beings possess is how they affect real people. All it takes is any kind of connection to the internet and they can pull those who are unaware into the virtual world. We don't know why they do this or what exactly happens to the victims aside from the fact that not all of them disappear. Some are simply put into a deep sleep that none of them have seemed to wake up from while others simply vanish all at once." Next he would address Kira's question, this time with a much more simple answer. "Your guess is as good as mine. They couldn't give us the identity of the one who programmed the devices and the shadow world either. If I were to guess I'd say they did something to delete themselves along with all their notes from the government's databases before they started this whole mess." He would turn to Tadashi next while thinking about the nature of his question. "How to explain...Well, an evoker, for example, is a way to force a Persona forth by invoking certain emotions in an individual. There are many risks involved in such a method however that sometimes causes Personas to lose a bit of their stability. Later on, though, Persona users were also found in Inaba who utilized a completely different, although limited, method for summoning Personas more naturally. What these devices do is utilize that method by...Uh, I'm not too sure on that part. The point being that whatever it is those users used to summon Personas these devices mimic in a way." Yamane finally would notice the time before turning to Kaito and nodding. "It's already starting to get late so I'll try to show you the basics of the virtual world today. I don't really have too much set up since we've been unable to enter the world ourselves but we've been able to set up an entry point into the world that should be safe for training. I have limited control over the virtual world using an application from my computer but the most I can actually do is create entrances and exits within the world, as well as open up communications with you all. If you're ready to enter the world then I'll ask you to make sure you're comfortable in your seats and then to simply wave your hand over the device and say "Log in". The devices should recognize you as new users of the program and grant you entry. It's almost as if the programmer ment for only those meant to use the watches to receive them. Anyway, whenever you're all ready."
Right then so this is some very screwy bullshit they're dealing with here. The occult has mixed with tech, and lord only knows what more could go wrong from this point on... That said, he can't help grinning as he looks up. "Alright, let's get this freaking show on the road then! I'm ready to learn how this stuff works the fun way for one, and there's nothing more fun than diving right into impossible things without a second thought! LOG IN!" As he waves his hand over the watch, he'd shout out in an excited voice. Wondering what exactly he'll find inside this madhouse up ahead, and for that matter how a world made of data even appears.
Kaito runs back to his seat in a hurry and sits himself down. His face was painted with an excited grin as he prepared to activate his device. "Alright, let's get going! Sensei is counting on us!" With that he waves his hand over the device with a shout. "Log In!" As he spoke his eyes flashed with determination. He may not have any idea as to what may happen, but he knows that failure isn't an option.
Shinobu would stare at the device for a few seconds before hearing Tadashi's boisterous declaration. A smile appeared on his face as he shrugs his shoulders. "Great. Now I have to pull this fool out of the flames huh?" He was finally at the starting line to getting the answers he so desperately search for before. He would sit at his desk and reach inside his school bag, simply to feel the protection charm his uncle gave him in the form of an antiquated stone dagger. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't even a little nervous but nonetheless he waved his hand over the device. "Log In."
"Well, alright then..." Kira, upon seeing others are logging in quickly tries to do the same too. Even though what may happen might put him into a dangerous situation, he has to do it...for her sake...and perhaps everyone else too. Whatever happens, he and the others must succeed. "Log in!" he shouts, his anticipation comes as he waits for something to happen
Niko stared at the others with a bit of hesitation. She'd gulp for a moment in paranoia before her eyes glared down at the watch. There was no other option at this point. She chose her fate. "Log in!" Her eyes clench shut, her whole body tensing in anticipation.
The world for all in the room would at first seem to spark into static but soon the static would begin overtaking everything as Yamane faded from view behind the veil of static. "Alright, let's hope nothing goes wrong!" The group might feel disoriented for a moment as they felt the world spin away from them. The static would glow brighter and brighter until finally it all seemed to shut down and darkness filled the space around them. Only Yamane's voice could be heard in the darkness. "Damn! Uh, this is fine, just need to reboot the system real quick." The world would flicker once more until in the place of the darkness a strange forest appeared. The trees of the forest almost seemed to line up into a wall in an artificial way. They seemed to be keeping the group from walking in any direction besides a path directly in front of the group that seemed to lead through the forest. The grass beneath was obviously overgrown but above all else, it felt like real grass. Everything felt oddly real despite supposedly being a virtual world. Even the air had a fresh forest smell to it. The only sign that this wasn't the real world was the sky. It had an odd green tinge to it without a cloud to be seen. If one looked closely enough they may see a flickering transparent number that seemed to periodically change in value occasionally floating through the sky. Yamane's voice could still be heard but it sounded as though he was speaking through a radio of some sort now. "Alright, it seemed to work. Sorry for any discomfort but this was the safest place we could find without alerting the programmer behind this world."
As darkness engulfed the room, the young girl let out a whimper of confusion and fear. Quickly though, any fear she would have was dispelled, her eyes wandering the surroundings in a mixture of awe and slight discomfort. "Well... At least they look like real trees. Even if it all seems so artificial... I'm gonna have to get used to this. Sensei? You're still here, right? N-Not physically of course, but in spirit?" Niko knelt down, examining the grass. Her minty green hair almost seemed to blend into the environment, making her camouflage like another plant. Or at least, that's what she thought, earning a chuckle out of her. She glanced around to make sure she wasn't alone, observing the group.
Tadashi looks around with a grin on his face, this place looks pretty neat to him and he's not exactly one to show fear in the face of the unknown. "How curious, I've never seen anything quite like this... At any rate boss, you said this place was dangerous somehow right? Hope the fancy watches come with weapons of some kind." He shrugs, moving forward after Niko. He's looking around too, unlike the girl, however, Tadashi's search is more for possible attackers than other people. He'd speak out to her in a whisper. "Hope you have a clue what you're doing, I haven't exactly been in too many deathmatches but I know a thing or two about fights. The one who strikes first wins, generally so keep your eyes sharp."
Shinobu, like the rest of the group, would be engulfed in darkness. Shinobu's stomach began to churn as he felt a gagging feeling. The familiarity of this transition was all too familiar. Looking around frantically as he tried to gauge everyone's presence. When the darkness recede will he once again be the only one left? What was it that lied beyond the darkness? He now felt himself worrying more about the others whom came here with him more than himself. Soon the scenery finally changed to that of the artificial forest and he knew right away. This may not have been the same place as that time but this place was the same in nature. This was indeed a different world, a fact that was made clear as he looked up at the sky. A nervous smile cracked onto his face as he saw the green tinged sky. "I've finally found a lead." he mumbled to himself before taking the time to calm himself and look around. "Is everyone here?" he said, making sure that no one was missing all the while examining the environment for anything that could be a threat.
Niko turned to Tadashi, offering him a friendly smile. She peers through the grass, putting a hand to her forehead. "I can't say I really have an idea at all, but I'm not sure there are too many bad ideas right now as long as we stick together. But I'll keep my ears to the ground and my eyes forward!" She nod-nods with determination before scooching closer to the tree wall. As if it were an instinct however, she grimaced as she got closer. Suddenly she darts her gaze to Shinobu, putting a finger to her lips. "Not so loud! Or you may not like who answers your question!"
When the darkness eclipsed, Kira was startled for a moment, not expecting that "I-is it...?" he said before he heard Yamane's voice and then suddenly saw the virtual world, with everything obviously planted artificially. "...So, this is the virtual world?" he said to himself before hearing Tadashi, and then Niko, agreeing with both of them, "Yeah, I think we should stick together right now, it seems to be the safest way to handle this for now..." he said, before hearing Shinobu's yelling, in which, he, like Niko, instinctively darts his gaze at him and puts his finger between his lips as well, "SHH!"
Kaito would look around in a daze as he was thrust into the virtual world. The static started to give him a headache, but it was luckily overcome by darkness. He barely heard his teacher's voice while he worked at keeping his lunch down. "Urk... glad to hear it Sensei..." Kaito catches his breath before taking in his surroundings. "Whew! Graphics ain't too shabby! Almost makes me wish I played more video games!" His joke failed to get a chuckle from himself as he heard the concerns of his classmates. Kaito sheepishly scratched the back of his head and brought his voice down. "So, when do we get our first trial. I don't know about you guys, but waiting around isn't my forte. And besides, I feel like we can do this, no sweat!"
Bump de boop to keep this alive
