Apocrypha Chapter 3D: First Mission
It's been nearly a week since Raiden has arrived at the base in a location he wasn't very familiar with. He had seen the other members of Black Hound leave for days on end for their own missions and returned tired and rugged. Nothing much changed for him personally and the other members of the unit weren't very welcoming excluding Kana Hanakawa, and Vera Bertalt whom seemed to warm up to him quickly. Despite this they seemed loathe to talk about themselves much or how they ended up here. Today was a little different than usual however. The reason for it was because for the first time since arriving he had been called into the briefing room by the unit leader who everyone referred to simply as Boss. The room seemed almost like a small university classroom with rows of seats, each row raised up by a level and a large screen in front that had information on it. The only ones in the room were Raiden, Kana, Krill, and the unit leader herself who stood at the in front of the screen on the lowest level. "The mission is simple. We will be picking up cargo at the camp of one of our contacts. You will leave by jet in 0800 hours and arrive in 0300 hours. You will meet the contact, confirm the contents of the cargo, pay the contact and return with the cargo. The target location will be in the northern region of south america along the onicido river near the edge of the Amazon Rain-forest. Are there any questions?" the general asked as the information she said as well as the location all appeared on the screen behind her as she said it.
Raiden jolted the information in his notebook, while the fat bunny did the same with a notepad. Raiden ponder the information and thought to himself. "How long will the whole mission take? And what are we to expect in terms of danger." Except wild animals, is there another reason for us taking it? Is the contents of the cargo? Then again, we're arms for hire, I shouldn't think too long on it. Raiden said to himself,
"As far as the mission time, excluding the amount of time it will take to arrive, it shouldn't take more than an three hours to confirm the cargo, load it, and leave. There shouldn't be any danger that the contact hasn't taken care of before your arrival. If there is then they are to contact you and change rendezvous points. This entire operation is to remain secret. What that means is eliminate anyone who witnesses the trade who is not directly involved. The contact will be Alfred Blackshear, leader of the Red Lion Mercenary outfit." After she said that a man appeared on the screen with three scars that ran horizontally across his face. He had short, wild black hair with tattoos covering his left arm and right shoulder with grey colored eyes. He seemed to be from Hispanic descent. "Is there anything you do not understand?" she asked as she looked at the three Kana and Krill seemed to know exactly what needed to be done without asking anything. Most likely not the first time they have ever done little missions like this one.
Raiden wrote the information in his notebook, including a small sketch of Blackshear. His plump bunny shivered and hid back under Raiden's top hat. Raiden looks towards the General, with a nod as he put his notebook away in his Black Void of Mystery. "I'm good here, Ma'am." Raiden said. *I doubt they're going to tell me anything about the cargo. The fact that those two aren't saying about it means it probably isn't important to know.
"Alright. If there are no more questions then you're dismissed. Krill, meet me in my office. I need to discuss something with you." Snow and Krill left the briefing room, leaving Raiden and Kana alone. Kana stretched as she she yawned. "Haven't done one of these in a while. Easy enough mission." she said before turning her head over to Raiden. "You look like you have a question burning a hole in your pocket" she said with a mischievous smile "If is has anything to do with my three sizes, you'd have to undress me first to find out" she said with a giggle
Raiden nodded as Krill was lead away. If I'm a bettingman, then Krill would be leader of this operation. The meeting is probably for that anyway. Hmm. Or i could be wrong. Raiden simplies laughs, a small grin forms on his face. "Oh my, is that a invitation, Kana? Or-" Raiden said with a bow. "A challenge." Really all i want to know about these people is their powers. Had too much bad experiences with not knowing what some one can't do. *Flash back to getting caught on fire by Alex*
"I'll leave that to you imagination." Kana said as she walked out of the briefing room. You only had one hour to get your things together and to meet up in the hanger. Your guns should have been finished as of yesterday and placed in the Armory. You have enough time to see one team mate before leaving if you choose to. Currently only Leo and Vanessa are available as well as the mysterious girl that Snow brought back with her along with yourself. She remained unconscious until three days ago and hasn't really left the quarters assigned to her. The only thing you know about her is she is a new esper and that her name is Agatha.
Raiden was left alone by himself, to ponder what the best use of his time would be. Knowing my "teammates" it's either a cold shoulder or a cold response. Sometimes both. After weighting his options he opt to go see Agatha. Really one question went through his head and in the end he probably won't ask it. Raiden tilt down his top hat and made way to the quarters.
Upon arrival he would see that Agatha's door was unlocked as when he came close to it, it slid open. Inside the room the lights were for the most part turned off. The only thing illuminating it was the blue light of a nearby lamp in the shape of a dolphin that sat atop a small night table. Everything else was strewn onto the ground or torn up. The room looked like a tornado had blown through or at the very least a child with a very large temper tantrum. Curled up under a mound of blankets and sitting at the corner of the bed was the young teenage girl named Agatha. Her emerald green eyes, still puffy from crying, turned to look at Raiden. She didn't really say much as she could be seen slowly moving back, away from the man. She seemed more scared than anything else. You didn't really know much of anything about her but you did know she was brought here while unconscious so odds are she may have been brought here against her will. [It would become more difficult to use any power while in the room and any power that is used will be unstable.]
Raiden didn't know what to expect when he walked through the doors or why he went in. Maybe it was his performer side wanting an audience to watch, maybe he wanted his name known to someone who make keep it, maybe its him taking condolence with someone else being here against their will or maybe because she remind Raiden of... Even i don't want to say his past. "Hello, I'm Raiden Genesis." He said, instead of a handshake he placed down his satchel and wand, then lifting both hands in the air. "I just want to talk is all."
She stared at him for a few minutes, watching to see if he tried anything before nodding her head to him. She was cautious, making sure to always keep a certain distance, as she looked for any signs of enmity. She finally calmed down a little. "......I-I'm Agatha." she said, voice cracking as she seemed to pull the covers over her body even more tightly. "What do you want?" a gaze of suspicion washing over him
Raiden nodded in agreement as he bowed his head down. "What a lovely name you have. I just came here to talk." Raiden said as his hat shakes again, a head of a fat ass bunny pops out. "Or rather I just came by to perform for you. Are you fine with that?" Raiden took a breath as he bowed once more.
The girl was a bit shocked by the sudden appearance of the bunny when she heard him speak. She slowly nodded her head to him but he could tell her full attention was on the bunny and not him. When she finally turned her attention to him she tilted her head in confusion. "Perform? You're.....an entertainer?" skepticism in her voice as her suspicious gaze grew
"Of course. I made be the Floudre Magician by creation, but I can still do magic." Raiden said letting out a breath. He was aware of his power not being the most optimal thing to use for an esper. But with his limited knowledge of them, he had to try. "What would you like to see first m'lady?" Raiden said tilting his top hat as his fat bunny tilts a smaller one in sync.
The girl stared at her feet for a little while, remaining silent before turning her head over to the dolphin lamp. She seemed to reminisce only for a moment before turning her gaze back towards Raiden. She opened her mouth to speak but as if the words were caught in her throat she simply opened and closed her mouth for a while. She tightened her grip on the blanket that covered her as she seemed to try to find the words she was looking for. "Mama. I....I want to see my mama." she said, a single tear rolling down her cheek
Raiden fell silent at the mention of her mother. He nodded his head. "Of course. I will try. What did she look like?" Raiden said, holding back his emotions. That was after all, how he had such good control of the elements.
"......Beautiful, long platinum hair. Rosy cheeks and emerald eyes like mine. Always smiling. No matter.......no matter...what happened." she replied, another tear rolling down the opposite cheek "No matter what happened." she repeated as her face twisted in pain, as if remembering something painful. Her skin had begun to give off a dim white glow, her irises beginning to give off the same glow. "But then that man." her voice began to crack as the tears continued to stream down her face. "He.....to mama." Her body began to tremble as she began to hold herself, the blanket half falling off of her, revealing scars on her skin. Scars that wouldn't be visible if she were wearing the normal attire for Germans out in those frigid lands. The temperature in the room felt as if it had dropped by ten degrees as you could feel the bone chilling hate that emanated from her body. She seemed to be in pain, trapped by a memory that tortured her and yet even with this change nothing else seemed to happen. Her esper power didn't seem to activate as Raiden looked at her.
Raiden took a deep breath as he approached her, his left hand his side as he moved forward. "Hey," Said Raiden as calmly as he could. He didn't want every meeting to end up the same. "He isn't here anymore. It's just me. Your friend." Raiden stopped in front of the bed, on the other side of her. From his satchel his fat bunny popped out. He handed something to Raiden and he took to his left hand. It was a liquid that stored in a bottle. "Assistant is here too and..." Raiden felt a shiver as he opened his left hand to her. A woman, who looked like an older Agatha faced her. Her eyes gleamed green, the hair a perfect grey with sparks flying from it. It was just a head, but Raiden didn't know how long he could keep the form.
The girl trembled as she looked up at the construct Raiden created. Her hand slowly moved towards it between her sobs. She moved towards it with her hands out as if she was going to embrace it. As if she was in a trance her arms touched it and for a moment Raiden would feel the sickening feeling of being completely disconnected from the star Sirius as he felt all of his power drain from him as the construct shattered to her touch. The feeling that ran through his whole being lasted for only a moment as the moment the construct shattered he could feel his connection return and thus his power as well. Agatha stared at the fragments as they scattered around her and disappeared. The glow grew more intense only for a moment before completely disappearing. She stared at the blank space before her for a few more seconds before her expression was filled with pain once more, grabbing the nearby pillow and crying into it.
Raiden fell back, feeling his life before his eyes as started to hyperventilate. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves. Assistant jumped onto the bed with Agatha, flickering it whiskers as he tries to get her attention. Raiden stands up, moves toward Agatha. "I'm sorry." Raiden finally said. He felt bad of course as an performer and a human. He coughed to clear his voice. "But you don't have to cry. Your mother... " He closed his eyes and he remember his mother, but then it changed back to Amy. "... She wouldn't want you to cry for her. And your father. Hmph! If that man ever comes back, I'll personally take care of him."
Agatha continued to cry into her pillow. It seemed any words you spoke couldn't reach her at the moment. "Unless he can rise from the dead, her papa is no longer a threat to her." Vanessa said as she stood at the doorway, her emotionless gaze falling onto the crying girl. "After all, she killed him herself." she said as she turned around and left the two with those words. The time was drawing near for you to start your first mission.
Raiden sighed and ponder for a minute on Vanessa. Figures, after an transformation they pretty much destroy everything around tell them. It's just... Raiden scratch his head. Don't know if she knows that. Raiden took a breath. In fact, it was entirely possible she killed her mother too, along with her father. At least in that way, it made sense to take her away. But Raiden had to try at least something. "Look you may not listen to me, but I'll listen to you." Raiden takes out a kind of beeper button and puts it on a drawer. "Tap it and I'll always be there to respond." Assistant went inside the satchel as Raiden collected his things to leave.
After gathering his things he would make his way to the port within the base. An underground waterway with a dock and four small transport ships with small weapons for defense. The ships seemed to prioritize speed and stealth more than anything else. Two were currently missing since the others in his group were sent out on missions already. Kana and Krill were seen walking onto one of the ships most likely to be the one you would be using to get to your next destination while carrying their own personal dufflebags . "Ya-ho~~" Kana waved to Raiden "We'll be taking the ship out to the see where we'll be heading to out personal plane runway. From there it'll be a straight shot to our destination." she said as she pulled out a small pill bottle, opening it and tossing the pill into her mouth. Even at a quick glance you might be able to see that it was seasickness medicine. Despite that she continued with a smile. She walked on ahead of you as you could see a few more people on board probably serving as the main crew which meant until you reached your destination you wouldn't really have anything else to do. The ship would soon be leaving in 10 minutes. Make sure you have all the things you needed for the trip. If you want anymore info on the mission itself Krill would be the person to ask.
Raiden didn't won't know if he got through to her or not, but in the end made he made his way to the dock. He had to survive anyway he thought as he saw Kana call out to him. "Alright then," Raiden called back to his "Onii-chan". "I'll gofinish up then." Raiden made his way to the Armory, getting his gun with hopefully without any issues.
When Raiden went to the lockers he would find his gun sitting against the wall with a note on it. It seems all the guns he turned in were fixed and had slight modifications done to them but they were all now available in the armory. The note on the gun just explained basic functions for the gun as well as explaining how to replaces the cartridges for the resin that allowed the bullets to interfere with personal realities. One cartridge could easily last through several clips of ammo for the gun but they still needed to be replaced regularly after use. It was recommended that to bring at least three resin cartridges for a short term mission for safeties sake and nine for long term missions. You would notice a few of the other weapons in the armory had already been taken by the others but none of the resin equipment had been touched. Whether that was a sign they had their own customized equipment or that they simply didn't trust the resin equipment is up for debate. Leo could be seen leaving the training room on the other side of the armory wiping the sweat from his brow. He looked at Raiden and gave a simple wave. "You're going on your first mission right? Good luck. Hope nothing bad happens and make sure you keep your wits about you. And a word of advice. Rarely do things ever go according to plan." the man said with a grim tone yet you could tell he was just trying to look out for you. "Now hurry up and go before you're late. Krill doesn't like it when people aren't punctual and you do not want to be on the other side of his lectures." a small smile appearing on his visage
Raiden waved back, taking the note into his notebook as he turned to Leo. Raiden laughed softly. "In the 3 weeks i been here, I figured out that nothing ever really does." Raiden said meeting his gaze. "But thanks nonetheless, I don't really feel like sitting through another lecture." Radien took 5 cartridges, putting the gun and ammo away, some how not changing the shape of the satchel at all. He turned over to Leo. "I'll get going then, see you around." Raiden said with a small bow for a farewell as he made his way back.
Raiden was the last one to arrive and as soon as he got on the ship the stairs to the port receded and the ship began to weigh anchor. The ship shifted in the water a bit as it pulled from the port causing Raiden to somewhat lose his footing but was able to remain standing thanks to the nearby guardrail. The ship pulled forward as you saw a few of the crew running around and making sure everything was in working order one final time before finally moving forward. Krill and Kana most likely already moved below deck. The ship didn't take more than 5 minutes before it was already moving at a pretty incredible speed through the tunnel that seemed to have been carved out of miles of ice. The cold air bit into your skin almost made it feel like it was trying to set you ablaze at the speed the ship was going. There were numerous tunnels ahead and the ship navigate through each one without problem before finally emerging out onto the frigid sea. Large ice caps covered the seas surface yet the ship moved between them without problem showing the skill of the crew but now you were probably beginning to understand why it was Kana took sea sickness medication as the constant turns and swaying of the boat could make any person who hadn't found there sea legs to become nauseous. The sea of stars were fully visible in the sky above as there was no light pollution to dim them and as the ship pulled out farther from the polar ice caps you could see those self same stars reflected into the water below. It would be about another hour before arriving at the next destination. Maybe taking a nap or wondering the ship would help you pass the time.
Seeing the vast array of stars above them sent calmness that help him escape the dreadful sickness that was climbing up his stomach. Raiden has done light speed travel before of course, but without any protection that would be a nauseating experience. Here however was something more akin to thrusters on a rocket if he had to guess. Doubting he can been sleep with this many turns, he opted to look around for a little, maybe even find Kana for some of the medicine.
Raiden would wonder the ship for a little, as he did he would realize just how much the ship was made for stealth. Despite all of the movement it was making and the speed it was going it didn't make any noises. The only sound that could be heard was the sound of the water parting as it cut through it moving forward. A few devices could be seen around that he would know as Jammers that prevented it's detection by other ships. It really was made to make sure no one knew it existed and the fact it existed meant that who ever was supporting hound dog had a lot of weight they could throw around. As you went below deck you would eventually come across what seemed to be a glass cage that had white ceiling and a white floor. Small vents found throughout the interior but you would know they were for ventilation and seemed to be making a very subtle ringing sound. On a small bed laying down was Kana. She looked over and noticed Raiden before pointing to a speaker located on the side of the Cage. It seems she was trying to tell you that she couldn't hear anything you say unless you spoke through it.
Raiden yawned as he walked down the flight of stairs, seeing a glass cage with Kana laying back. I know we're suppose to be hounds, but this might be a bit much. Raiden walked towards what he assumes to be an intercom. He looked for a button or switch if he had to turn it on. If not or if he turned it on he would talk into the speaker. "Bonjour Kana, can I guess this is where we'll sleep if we need it?" Raiden said, eyeing the room and guessing it might be a nursery or dorm for them.
Kana gave a wry smile as she spoke and her voice was transmitted through the speaker. "No. This is an esper containment cell. It nullifies the powers of espers inside of it. My power is a bit difficult to control and considering how easily I get sea sick, its much too dangerous to have me on a boat without being in one of these. My first time getting on one of these boats my power leaked out and destroyed half the ship. Really don't want a repeat." She shrugged before sitting up and looking directly at Raiden "You don't seem so well yourself. There's a first aid kit on the wall over there with sea sickness medicine. Try not to push yourself." she said pointing to the far left wall where a small cabinet was.
Raiden nodded, the explanation making sense as he met her gaze. Now with the fear of getting annihilated by her, he got a good look at her teammate, looking at her missing arm. After he a minute he walked over to the first aid kit, opening it as he looked for the pills, once found he would take them. He already dealt with a ship blowing up in half, he wouldn't really want that to happen again. He walks back. "You know where Krill is?" Raiden said speaking into the intercom.
"Knowing him he's probably in his room going over the mission details again. A kid like him needs to stop trying to act like an adult and just act his age. Him and Vanessa are the youngest ones we have and neither one of them can barely even be considered teenagers much less adults. His room is down the left hallway, third door on the right. Tell him this onee-san is worried that if he keeps working like this at his age I'm afraid he won't be able to get it up when it counts when he grows up." she laughed at her own joke before regretting it as her face turned green She laid back down and grabbed a nearby towel, laying it on her forehead as she groaned "Why couldn't the carrier ship be closer?"
Raiden sighed, looking at the sickly Kana as he nodded. He walked down the hallway, making note of the other doors tags. He stood in front of the door, giving it 3 knocks before waiting or walking inside if given the okay.
Raiden would be given the okay after a few moments and after entering he'd see the young boy sitting on his cabin bed looking information on his electronic tablet. He didn't even look up to see who it was as he spoke. "What do you want?"
"Well for one I came here to make sure I have all the information for the mission. But first and foremost." Raiden looked towards Krill. "Kana asked for you to rest up, you know; not dig your self into an early grave of stress." Raiden said, trying his best not to say Onee-chan. "Why do you work this hard?"
"That bitch needs to mind her own business" he muttered with a click of his tongue before replying to Raiden "Those who are not useful or competent are thrown away. Its simply the way the world works. Even a child can understand that. I've found a person who needs me. So I will make myself useful, as simple as that." he spat out at Raiden as he continued to scroll down the tablet. "For what reason do you fight? Why are you here?" Finally turning his gaze to meet Raidens. "Where do your loyalties lay?" his sharp gaze scrutinizing Raiden
Raiden took in his hurtful words. He never really got why people used them, it was disgusting at best. Though he it's not like he didn't know it, there's just no reason for it. He gazed up before closing his eyes and looking back at the child with his calm glance. "I fight for a fairly simple reason; To leave my legacy to this universe. One hold with prestige of beauty. I fight to get ahead, no point in staying in one place if no one remembers you. That's why I travel, join and make connections. My name spread throughout the cosmos. But..." Raiden shook his head. "My legacy is not above a life."
"I don't see what the boss sees in a naive guy like you. The world isn't so kind as to allow that way of doing things. People die so that others may live. For you to live means that some one else died in your place." he said with a scowl before turning his gaze back to the tablet. "Humans do not remember the great kindness of others. One mistake will overwrite a hundred feats of good will. No matter how much we struggle to be good, to help others, to make those connections, none of it matters in the end. We do not leave a legacy. Just an empty grave of broken promises. In the end people will only remember the results and not the means. History has proven that time and time again. Isn't that the real reason you're here?" he said referencing the things that happened to Raiden at that lab. Krill had seen the videos. He wanted to know the type of person he'd be working with and was sorely disappointed. He may say he was here to leave a legacy but in the end didn't he simply run away from comrades who threw him away? Comrades that cared not a wit of his well being. These same comrades who abandoned him and set him ablaze were continuing there lives without a second thought to his wellbeing. In Krills eyes, Raiden was simply a pitiful man who still looking for purpose. "After all. Isn't the real reason you travel simply to run away from your responsibilities?"
"I don't need to hear the value of a life..." A flash of people filled Raiden's vision, Markus, Melssia, the 106th squad and... her. "From someone wasting his away." "My legacy is not for my name, if that was true then I would be a performer like my teacher before me. No, mine is of a search for the beauty in this vast universe. The meaning, the action and character. It's quite obvious there's no such thing as an absolute, I'm native sure but no idiot. However the prospect of finding something greater than one's already is, is always a delight to find." Raiden said with a smile looking into his clench fist with a look of disgust. "Besides, making alot of assumptions here kid. They were at best partners and worst competition. As to the why, they had beauty in them. Minus the coward wizard and the insane Necromancer, the Dragon was searching for the unknown and the Queen had people to lead. Their story couldn't end there."
He would raise a brow at the mention of a queen but decided not to comment on it. "Its funny how someone whose making assumptions about me without any knowledge about me is accusing me of making assumptions when I only spoke the truth or did my words hit a little too close to home?" the boy scoffed at Raiden. "If you think I'm wasting my life then why are you here, with me, in this group. Aren't you simply wasting away all the same? Do you even have any idea what we do or did you just throw yourself to the wolves for the so called 'righteous sacrifice'?" He said with a mocking laugh before finally showing a more serious look and staring into Raidens eyes "Espers. The cargo we are picking up are espers and once we pick them up they will be sent to the labs like the one we found you in. What will you do? The world is a cruel and ugly place that shows no mercy to anyone. Will you try to save them with that half assed resolve of yours or will you do the job you were sent to do?" The boy asked but didn't wait for an answer, instead going back over the data on the pad as if saying he'll be waiting to see what choice Raiden would be making
Raiden smiled and bowed. Turning to him, with a small chuckle. "Nevertheless, Kana wanted you to rest. Make of it what you want. After all, actions speak louder than words." Said Raiden chuckling while waving out of the room. With a small stretch, strides to the bathroom, holding his stomach as he walked in front of the sink. His face darkens, a sudden daze consume him as he instinctively put his hand to clasp his mouth, coughing blood drops as he clenched his bloodied fist. He straighten up his back, readjust his hat, fixed his hair and walked back to Kana to tell her about Krill, if nothing stops him.
Raiden wouldn't have any problem getting back to Kana but once he reached the room where her containment cell was a broadcast came over the intercoms. "We will be approaching the carrier ship in approximately ten minutes. This vessel will now slow to cruising speed. Please make all neccesary preparations as we arrive. Black Hounds, may you be met with another successful mission. Godspeed. Captain Harvey, over and out." Kana began to get up from the bed and grab her belongings. Since she hadn't taken anything out of them she didn't really have to repack so now she simply sat there to wait for the ship to slow down so she could regain her bearings. The ships constant rocking had finally begun to calm down and it almost felt as if it had come to a near halt with the difference. "Did you find Krill?" she asked
Raiden nodded, not needing to repack anything because he didn't unpack anything he packed from his package. He walked towards Kana, the question he once had only grew hotter as he talked. "Of course. We had a nice talk too, very interesting that man. Anyway we have to head out soon?" Raiden said, hoping to confirm what the Captain.
"Yeah. We will be reaching the carrier ship soon. From there we'll be taking a carrier to the drop off point where we'll rendezvous with our contact. After that we'll confirm the cargo and bring it back." she said, finally looking a little better and grabbing her dufflebag. She took another swallow of her sea sickness medicine and then took a deep breath before exiting the containment cell. "We just gotta wait on the deck until the carrier comes up." she said as she began to walk towards the stairs, walking at a pace where Raiden would be able to walk with her. "You look like something is bothering you. Did that kid say something to you?" she added, not really looking back at him as she asked
Raiden kept a steady pace by her, walking as he thought for a moment. "Just some insightful dialog is all, although..." Raiden looked back at Kana. She's an esper, yet is fine with the experiments. But why? If i bring it up, it may induce after scene like Vera, and nobody wants that. Hmmmm. "Nah, I'll tell you later. So is the Amazon still as wondrous as i last saw it?" Said Raiden looking ahead in no particular direction.
"Should be, assuming the last time you've seen it is within the last ten years." she chuckled "For the most part as long as nothing goes wrong then we'll be in and out. Shouldn't take more than two hours to confirm the cargo and transfer the funds so we won't really be seeing much of it." They exited the stairs as they made their way to the front deck. Krill was coming from the opposite staircase with a suitcase with wheels on the bottom he drug behind him. He didn't really say anything to anyone as he stood waiting on the deck. "Krill-kun, did you get some nice sleep? At your age you should be in bed at this time" she teased him only for him to give an annoyed grunt. "Stop treating me like a kid, stupid bitch." a click of his tongue "Krill-kun is so shy." she laughed After a few more moments the water began to shift a little in front of them before a large shadow could be seen under the water. Soon the surface of the water broke and what seemed like a 6 kilometer flight deck atop a submarine came out. Soon after it came up and the water cleared from it's top a lift brought a carrier plane onto the deck and a bridge was made between the two ships. Krill and Kana made there way onto the deck, heading straight to the carrier. "Don't fall behind" Kana waved to Raiden as she steadily walked The back of the carrier opened to let them on board and a few people from the crew were standing at attention as you passed them onto the carrier. Krill and Kana strapped themselves into the safety belts as they sat down across from each other.
Raiden weakly waved over to Kana as he walked to the carrier plane. He turned to the crew and bowed. "Thank you for your service." He took his top hat off as he did. turning around to see Kana and Krill strap themselves in. Raiden went inside, taking a seat next to Kana.
It took approximately six hours of flying over what almost seemed like nothing but ocean until finally land was within sight. Soon that land was filled by a sea of trees and other magnificent sites you could only see from the skies. A waterfall off in the distance, wildlife congregating around a river as they drink their fill. The inside of the cargo ship however was completely empty save for both Kana and Krill who were fast asleep the entirety of the trip. Soon the carrier plane finally slowed down as it seemed to closing in on it's destination. A small clearing could be seen ahead and in that clearing was three people and a armored vehicle. You couldn't make out their features from where you were but they seemed to be the contacts you were coming to see. "We will be reaching our destination in ten minutes. Hope you guys don't take too long." the voice of the pilot filled the plane from the speakers. The other two slowly opened their eyes as they let out a yawn. Seeming to be trying to readjust themselves and remember why they were here. Upon looking out the windows of the aircraft they had finally remembered the reason for their trip. To pick up some cargo. Basically, to send a group of espers into a new living hell. "We here already" Kana said as she yawned and stretched "Lets get this over with quickly" he said before looking over to Raiden "right?" Kana looked between the two in a little confusion before shrugging her shoulders and deciding it not best to get involved.
Raiden kept on himself, playing Solitude as the plane landed. He got up, taking in a yawn, as he glanced at his awakening companions. Raiden closed his eyes and thought back to what transpired over the week and sighed, readjusting his Black Void of Mystery. Raiden met his glare and nodded, doing a quick bow. "Of course, Sir~" He said with a slight chuckle.
The aircraft landed in the clearing and the back of it began to lower. Krill and Kana had already grabbed their belongings or at least what they needed for this task as they exited the plane, Raiden following behind them. Krill went on to talk to the shortest man in the group who showed Krill his cell phone screen which had a special emblem on it that seemed to be how they verified their identities. After that they began to talk a little as Kana looked around to the three that were waiting on them. "Those two are kinda cute, in a rustic mercenary kind of way" she said with a laugh as she seemed to be feeling a lot better now that her feet were on the ground. She waved to the red haired man before the shorter one that Krill was speaking to showed them to the inside of the armored vehicle. They then departed towards the place where they would be verifying the contents of the cargo. Raided would be sitting inside the armered car with the others as they sat in a little silence. The faint smell of alcohol coming from the female driver. Sit in silence or speak, it was all up to him.
Raiden nodded, mostly following them. Raiden didn't bother with much of the military equipment around him. He can handle a war. Maybe several. But after 8, not so much. He did take note of positioning and what goes around. Also the emblem. "Ha. Cute..." Raiden said turning away. "Most mercenaries i might are usually powerful colorful groups or all the same person. There is not in between." Raiden said shaking his. He follows them back to the armored vehicle, smelling the alcohol with a sigh as he sits down. He though for a moment before speaking. "So, can I ask something? As a lost, confused, newbie, what is the relationship between Black Hounds and The Red Lion Mercenary?"
