Apocrypha Chapter 3: D,C Intersection
Kevin: Berma stared at the two in disbelief as she began to rub the bridge of her nose. "After I specifically said not to make any trouble you decide to pick up a stray. Right after I paid a mercenary to bring two people across the border. I assume you have the finances to pay for your plus one? Also, tell me Tam. You say she can pull her weight. Are you telling me she can fight a full fledged Magi without assistance then? You are aware of where we're going aren't you Tam?" she was clearly annoyed at this point as she asked Tam those questions and yet, even though the questions seemed to be directed to Tam she was looking directly at Kevin the entire time she spoke. Kai & Raiden: The magician had asked what the relationship was between his group and the mercenaries. At the very least that meant this person was new to the whole thing though this brought up the question of why he wasn't fully informed though in the end it could be something as simple as common sense between the two. The one armed japanese woman was the first to speak. "It's simply a relationship of interest. They are mercenaries and so we pay them for their services. They gather the" she coughed to cleared her throat before continuing "cargo, and we pay them for it while supplying them with some beneficial information. Everyone wins." She said with a shrug of her shoulders and a smile That really did sum up their relationship for the most part. If there were any more questions to be asked they should be asked now before arriving back at the camp. Mariko: Since Mariko decided to leave the strange tents alone she wouldn't find much more difficulty in finding the tent with their leader in it. There didn't seem to be anyone there to bar entry. Whether that was complacency or if he put that much faith into his skills was a whole other matter. Inside was the leader of these mercenaries. Will she go in now to speak with him or leave for another time.
Woah there he is! I might take care of the business I have here before traveling... Nah, learning magic would make it way easier and faster. I'll just speak with him and ask where my dad is. After that I'll wait for my magic lessons! Mariko stepped inside the tent and began walking towards the leader.
Kai
*Kai chuckles lightly. Cargo was certainly one way to put it. Still, Kai thinks. Wonder who these guys are. They seem... off somhow. Kai glances around at the three "VIPS", curious about them.*
Hmm... information you say? Raiden thought to himself for a moment, as he nods. To what extent does your information go? Such as how much does your Company know? Raiden looked at her intently
"Of course I can" Kevin said patting his jewels. "Since she's a Magi I only really need like five." Tam paused at Berma's question. Listen lassie, she made her choice, and ye can trust me she at least won't drag us down. If she doesn't want to come she can leave. Nothing ill about it. Kevin nodded at Tam's response.
Mariko: The moment Mariko walked into the tent she would be staring down the barrel of a gun from a middle aged man behind the far desk. He looked at Mariko with sharp eyes before sighing and putting the gun down on the desk while planting his butt back into the chair. He then gestured for her to sit down on the nearby seat. "Hello, Miss Kureji. My name is Alfred Gregory Dressier. It is nice to finally make your acquaintance. I assume you've traveled all this way because you father never made it home." he said to her with a respectful tone. Kai & Raiden: Kana looked over to Krill as if pleading for a little help before he turned his head from her as if saying you're own your own. "It's info regarding the worlds current politics." Bartlow spoke up as if to finish what she was saying. "That way the boss can go through special channels to contract the safer jobs that pay more before others snatch them up. It's one of the reasons we're not constantly recruiting people after every contract like most other places." All in all Black Hound seemed to have ties to some really powerful people if they could gather info from about the worlds current politics. At the very least info that doesn't make the news. Kevin: The annoyance in Berma's gaze seemed to lesson as she turned her gaze over to Tam. "You will be responsible for her. If she dies then her life will be on your hands. Do not expect me to save her when shit inevitably hits the fan." she said before pointing to one of the armored vehicles. "We were given permission to sleep in the back of that van. Get some rest. We'll be leaving three hours before daybreak." she said as she walked over to the tent that was being used to bathe, leaving the two behind.
Mariko's hand flew to the handle of her hammer when she saw the gun, but she sighed in relief seeing him lower it down. Then she had so many questions about what he just said. What? How do you know my name? What do you mean my father...? Also hi
Kevin wiped the sweat off his brow as Berma left. Got away safely lad "Yeah, I thought she was tell me I couldn't keep it" Kevin laughed looking the van. Looks comfortable. Kevin thought. What's the plan bairn? "Take it easy for a while, nothing to do here anymore." Aye. Kevin sat down at the back of the vehicle. His back on the wall, while his eyes staring at the ceiling. Get some kip. You've barely got more than 4 hours this week. Kevin simply nodded in response. Tam slowly faded away as the boy stared off with empty eyes. He lifted his arms looking at them. Faint white scars, intense at his hands but fading is it climbed higher. He couldn't see the dots, but he knew they meant something. He never thought about his own power, the idea that what he could do wasn't all he was able engulfed his attention. I don't think I'll be sleeping much. He zoned out, fading from everything around him.
Raiden sat quiet for a moment, reflecting on the information he was given as he ponders his next course of action. He shrugs, knowing what he needed to d. Why the hell wasn't i aware of this!?!?!?!?! Raiden bows his slightly, leaning back on his chair. Before closing his eyes, thinking to himself. "Thank you for your time." Said Raiden looking up the car ceiling.
Raiden & Kai: The inside of the vehicle became silent as no more questions were asked. The trip would seemingly take longer maybe because of that silence. Or at least it would have if not for the sudden change. A beeping noise suddenly began to flare up from the radar. Jacob in the front seat immediately looked at it but by the time he did Misha was already calling out to everyone. "Incoming! Brace yourselves!" she screamed out to the others in the vehicle before suddenly turning the steering wheel throwing anyone who didn't have a seat belt on onto the floor. The deafening sound of an explosion could be heard outside the car as it seemed to tilt over but soon found it's way back onto the ground safely. Bartlow looked out of the steel blinds and saw three other vehicles behind them. The one in the center being an armored one and the two on the side being small jeeps mostly used for speed. Bartlow looked over to Kai while reaching for a device on the wall. "Think you can man the minigun on top" he asked as he threw the device to Kai. The device lit up and on the screen was displayed a view you knew was right above the armored van you were in, giving you a visual from the minigun above. There were two gauges on it that represented the heat sink and the ammo as well as a joystick on the side of it to move it and buttons to fire. Jacob and Bartlow had already slid the barrel of their guns through the metal blinds and began returning fire. The radio in the vehicle suddenly turned on as Alfred's voice came over it. "There has been a perimeter breach. Rendezvous at point Delta" Mariko: Alfred simply smiles at Mariko with an expression that would remind you of an old man seeing his grand daughter. "Your father was quite proactive when it came to bragging about his daughter. Always showing photos of you around the camp with a big stupid grin on his face. Because of that I'm sure many here who worked with him knows who you are. He wasn't exactly the best mercenary but he always seemed to have a knack of surviving even in the worst of circumstances. Now tell me what, what is the reason for your sudden and unexpected visit?" It was then that a beeping noise sounded from under his desk. He furrowed his brow as he pulled out some kind of device and then soon stood up as he mumbled to himself about a major perimeter breach. "I apologize for cutting this short but we seem to have more unexpected guests. The unwelcome kind if I might add." he said as he walked past her right outside the tent, "Pack it all up and be on guard. Have everything ready to move out in twenty minutes." she could hear him yell. Afterwards he walked back in and tampered with a communications radio for a little while until he could hear the static clear up. "There has been a perimeter breach. Rendezvous at point Delta." Kevin: Kevin suddenly heard the voice of a man yelling out to pack everything up in twenty minutes and then heard the sound of numerous people rushing around the area. There wasn't any panic as it seemed this was something to be expected but still. You could tell that something big was going to happen soon.
Kai
Aye. I think I can manage that. Fasten your fucking seat belts,"esteemed" guests, cause I think someone saw your arrival coming. Yo drunk, Better keep the damn van steady. *Kai smirks at Misha before positioning himself to man the guns and "testing" if they work by aiming at one of the jeeps and firing.*
Kevin felt is eyelids begin to slowly side down, his conscious fading away as his head descended slightly. Then the yelling snapped him back into reality. Oi, the bloody hell's goin on? Tam said annoyed. "Don't know, but I'll ask around" Kevin told Tam stepping out of the back of the van. He looked around till he found either Berma or someone that seemed like they would tell him what's happening.
U-um what's happening? What about my father? Can you tell me more about him? Like where he is? And what about a perimeter breach? How do you know they are the unwelcome kind? Is it because they came without asking? Mariko kept asking questions as she followed Alfred.
Raiden tenses up, holding on to his fastened seat belt as the vehicle turns. After recomposing himself and rubbing his head he looks up at the driver, more then that looking out the windows. He glances up. "Whats going on? What happened?" Raiden would say after hearing the radio.
Kai & Raiden: "Hah! Who do you think I am? I'll keep her steady as long as you can keep them off my ass!" Misha yelled back with a smile as if she was enjoying herself To Raiden, Krill would raise a brow as Kana was once again the one to explain. "It would seem we were spotted upon landing. Either that or we just happened to come at a bad time. No reason to worry though. Just remain calm. These guys know what they are doing.......probably." she said with a wry smile. The Minigun up top did as commanded with no resistance. The ease at which it moved showed how well maintained the gun was. With only a few seconds of a whirling noise inside of it as it warmed up, it let loose a hail of bullets that first tore through the ground before piercing into the jeep on the left side of the other armored vehicle, killing the driver the moment the hail of bullets tore through it. The jeep buckled before a wheel flew off and it bee lined into the armored truck next to it only to flip forward and ultimately be crushed under it's weight, killing the other two within. The other jeep wouldn't stay still as it drove off so that it had a safe number of trees between the two. There were four people in the jeep all at once. The minigun atop the armored vehicle came to life as it's muzzle began to align with the one you were currently in. Off to the left where the remaining jeep was you could see someone preparing what seemed like a guided missile launcher. "Shit" Bartlow cursed under his breath "Krill" Kana muttered to the young boy "No. You will only make matters worse. Leave it to them........just be ready to defend yourself if worse comes to worse." Mariko: "We can speak more about your father at a later time. For now, I need to focus on what needs to be done right now. As for how I know they are the unwelcomed kind it is because I placed remote laser triggers around our perimeter. They are coming too quickly and to numerous to be anything but." he would stop for a few moments as he turned to her. The lights of the numerous vehicles in the area slightly blinding you for a few seconds as the covering for his tent was abruptly pulled off leaving nothing more than the frame. A frame in which the other mercenaries were collapsing with ease showing how much practice they had in the past at doing so. "Miss Kureji. I ask that you have patience. Right now I need to focus on keeping my men alive. Afterwards I will answer your questions to the best of my abilities. We will be moving to another location soon." pointing to one of the armored vehicles "I will be riding in that one when we head out. It will be safer for you to remain in that with me as well." he said before he walked over to his desk and pulled out a small safe like briefcase from under it. He began to go through the papers putting the useful ones into the briefcase and setting fire to the ones he no longer needed.
Kevin: Kevin would see Berma standing near the bath tent, water still apparent in her hair as she had an expression of quite resignation. When Kevin walked over to ask what was happening she simply sighed before looking out into the surrounding forest. "It would seem they have been found by someone. Who exactly, I don't know. Either way, they are packing up their belongings and getting ready to move out now. They seem to already know what they need to do so all we have to do is tag along inside of one of their vehicles. Most likely the one that was designated as our sleeping arrangements." She didn't look back at Kevin as she continued to look into the darkness of the forest. She seemed to raise a brow for a few seconds before beginning to walk over to the forest. "Leave without me. I have some matters to attend to. Don't do anything stupid." she said back to him as she continued to walk out of the clearing, her dark maid clothes seemingly melding into it's darkness Kevin & Mariko: As they watched the mercenaries running around they would notice the tents around the area all being put down and packed at great speed. They would also notice however, when the top of a tent is pulled off they would see what seemed like a glass cage that had a pure white bottom and top. There were numerous holes in the ceiling of the glass like cage that seemed to be for a different use than air and within it you would notice numerous people inside. Some were teenagers while others were adults and there were even a few children. There were three cages in all and the cages occupants seemed to be separated by age group. The cages were loaded onto large trucks. The people inside seeming to be scared and confused.
Mariko listened to Alfred having more questions but in the end she decided to just be quiet. She was going to the vehicle until she saw the glass cages. She squinted her eyes. She didn't know why but her legs began to move to the trucks without her realizing it until she was there. She looked at the driver awkwardly. O-oh um... Can I also ride in this... truck? Like in the back of it?
Kai
Pincer attack. Heh. Is that all? *Kai would crack his neck, chuckling slightly. Seems Misha wasn't the only one enjoying themselves. Urgent problem goes first. Kai thinks as he turns the gun to the other jeep and opens fire on it, hoping to take it out before it could fire.*

Kevin walked over to the van he almost fell asleep in until he saw his student walking towards the cages. Looks like they're prisoners. But inside cages made of glass? A pit formed in Kevin's stomach when he saw them, the glass almost looked like ice. He sighed and began to walk towards the cages as well. What are you doing lad? "Just checking on my student, it's a teacher's job anyhow." Kevin remarked making Tam chuckle.
Hearing to remain calm from someone like Kana was the last thing he ever wanted to hear to calm himself. He focused a thin layer of circuits around him, coating him in a almost blue glow after he heard Krill's words. "You're the leader here. " Raiden said looking over at Krill.
Mariko: The driver raised a brow at the girl, getting a good look at her before finally recognizing who she is. Still, he shook his head as he pointed his thumb back at the glass cage. "Sorry Missy. No can do. I know how bad this may look but it's a job. That's our cargo and we can't take any risks. I'm sure the other Caiman's have room for you. Most likely safer with the others too." he said as he began to buckle down the glass cage in the back of the truck. A few others rushed over to help him and they were finished in less than five minutes. Another tarp was thrown over the cage and strapped down, most likely to hide the cargo from whoever their unwanted guests were. The man then ran around the truck to do a quick check before finally going back up front and jumping into the drivers seat. Two others jumped onto the back of the truck while holding customized assault rifles as they looked around the area. The other two vehicles had finished preparations soon after and you could hear numerous people over the truck radio responding with a 'preparations complete'. Isla would see Kevin heading towards her. By the time he made it to her they both would realize how a good number of mercenaries were now waiting on standby for the signal to move out. Kevin: Kevin would see numerous people moving around with organized chaos as they carried their belongings and destroyed anything that wasn't worth taking with them. Some of which almost bumped into him on a regular basis. The glass cages were loaded onto the trucks and locked down, a tarp thrown over them to maybe hide them. All in all you would be able to tell just how efficient these people were with their jobs despite the way they acted before. The rough and free spirited attitude they had before was replaced with the practiced movements of professionals who had been in this field of work for innumerable years. Kevin would eventually make it over to Isla but upon arriving before her he would realize a good number of mercenaries had completed the pack up and was now waiting on standby for the signal to move out.
Kai & Raiden: A hail of bullets flew from the mussel of the gun as Kai attempted to shoot the jeep next to them. Most of the shots unfortunately were blocked by the trees and a few hit the jeep itself but didn't cause much damage. They finished loading the missile and set themselves up to fire. Maybe by luck, at the moment it was released from it's firing mechanism the missile was struck by one of the bullets of the turret and blew up killing the two in the back while simultaneously destroying the entire back of the jeep. It stopped only after losing control and slamming into a tree. The turret on the top of the vehicle stopped as the mussel glowed red. You would need to wait about 40 seconds before you can fire it again. Meanwhile Jason had pulled the dufflebag he had leaning against the wall up an began taking parts out of it. Bartlow immediately knew what he was planning and began helping him assemble it. The mussel that sat atop the enemy vehicle began to rain down on yours. Some of the bullets ripped through the back of the van only barely missing anyone inside. "Armor piercing rounds!" Bartlow yelled out to Misha "Got it!" she replied as the vehicle did a swift turn that almost tipped it over. She began to take the armored vehicle behind trees and shrubs to block most of the gunfire. Jason finally finished putting the parts together revealing an anti-material sniper rifle. He leaned the barrel onto Bartlows shoulder. "Mantenla estable." Jason said to Bartlow. "Bring us back around when they stop firing!" Bartlow yelled out once more. A few moments later the firing had finally stopped as the mussel on the enemies guns were now glowing bright red. At that moment Misha pulled the vehicle back in front of the enemy. Pulling a lever that opened the back only slightly. The enemy noticed this and began shooting. You only had 20 seconds before the heat on the turrets dropped low enough for them to start firing it again. 20 seconds to make sure he could take the perfect shot. Another 15 seconds before your own turrets were ready. What will you do?
Mariko looked down before turning to face Kevin. Hey! I was just... trying to ride with them. It's scary being a cage when a bunch of stuff you don't know is happening around you... Mariko walked over to the edge of the cages. Are you ok?
Ain't that a kicker bairn Tam chuckled to Kevin as he tried to rub the tired from his eyes. Kevin looked to the cages and shook his head. "Don't waste your breath. Now isn't the right time or place to be trying to free prisoners. If something strong enough to make these mercenaries fly into work-mode is coming then we'd better start moving too. Though that's if you want to live long enough for me to teach you anything." Kevin said coldly walking to the van. Quite the hypocrite aren't ye laddie? Tam mocked seeing through his facade. He ignored Tam and continued to the van.

Kai
Well, the guns fucked. Still got a few of tricks of my sleeves though. Just need a window and I can send some fire their way. Might not do much, but at least I can buy you some time to line up the shot. Up to you of course. *As he says this, Kai reaches behind his chair for his halberd.*
"Tch." Raiden said looking behind him with scowl. 35 seconds until the turrets were? Hmm i have a better idea. The faint blue glow Raiden had over his body as they focused on his hands, stretching them forward in front of him to the turrets. "Krill can you man the turrets?" With a slight grin Raiden shot a beam at the vehicle, however as it shot the top spread out into 5 beams aiming at each of the points connecting the turret to the enemy vehicle.
