probably the latter but yeah in earlier versions of p5, morgana was supposed to be able to switch between cat and metaverse form regardless of if he's in the real world or not you can still see this in kamoshida's palace escape as it was made before the switch to morgana being metaverse form only in the metaverse and morgana being cat form only in the real world, this occurs in no other palace and no other palace escape and it's never explained

I can't remember if they said this in game but what changed morgana into a cat. Wait, was he even human in the first place? For the life of me I can't remember the scene were they explained it.
