One of my managers tried to ban me from talking about persona to customers.
As I've said before in a previous forum, I work at GameStop. And we have the ability to recommend our favorite games if a customer is just browsing or ask "what would you recommend" If they say they're an RpG fan. I always say persona becaus. It's ja really good game/series with tons of upcoming and preexisting spinoffs. Not to mention the various cameos certain characters make in other games. INCLUDING SMASH. One of my managers didn't like this simply because it annoyed him. (despite him constantly doing the same thing with Yakuza) and on top of that LIED about my other managers saying that they all agreed on it. Not to mention that he's what is essentially the team snitch and I'm not the only one that has bumped heads with him in the past. Including my managers that are higher than him. It's times like these that I wish the Phantom Thieves were real.

That’s dumb. You should be able to share your own recommendations with customers. Especially when that recommendation could easily make someone want to buy the game, and bam! You’ve made a sale. The Phantom Thieves should change your manager’s heart.

The Phantom Thieves should change your manager’s heart. His other issue is that the only copies of P5 right now are sealed PS3 copies. And I shouldn't talk about games that we don't have in stock. But here's the thing. WE DO PRE-ORDERS DO WE NOT!? A W A V E persona content just got announced in less than two weeks. WHAT BETTER TIME TO TALK ABOUT A GAME THAN WHEN A BUNCH OF SPIN OFF CONTENT FOR IT IS ABOUT TO DROP!? (Also. I've seen the P5 Funko pops and God they're cute)

On top of that. WE DO WEB IN STORE So even if we don't have any copies of P5 for the ps4, WE CAN HAVE THEM SHIPPED IN THE STORE FOR THE CUSTOMER. His entire argument is flawed.

I don’t go to GameStop often, but from what I’ve heard they really like to shove preorders down their customers throats. Wouldn’t he want you recommending Persona 5 to people to get them to preorder Persona 5 the Royale? Nonetheless, I’m just glad that you’re a pretty chill GameStop employee. Most encounters I’ve had in the past at GameStop weren’t that great. Most of their employees only care about getting you to spend money, and prioritize that rather than being friendly.

Most encounters I’ve had in the past at GameStop weren’t that great. Most of their employees only care about getting you to spend money, and prioritize that rather than being friendly. Dude trust me. The stories you hear about Gamestop are almost ENTIRELY based on the people working at that specific store. I legitimately tell customers that I know our trade in system is corrupt. GameStop I pretty fun to work at as long as you have chill and honest employees to work with.

It definitely seems like a fun place to work, but the higher ups really don’t care about their customers. The trade in system is all weird, they’ve started selling things that don’t relate to games whatsoever, and probably other things. I’d definitely want to work their with a buddy though. Being able to hangout surrounded by video games. I’m just worried that it’s going to become less of GameStop and more of a place that just sells random figures and plushies from tv shows and comics.

Well that’s because we’ve been partnered with those companies that sell figurines and plushies. Plus if Hottopic is serious about buying GameStop (which I low key don’t mind unlike everyone else) it’ll make a bit more sense.

The other thing is that my store is in a mall so our back room is already small. But because were one of the highest performing stores in our district, we get shipments like the stores that have their own building or location in a plaza. Our bathroom is Pretty much a storage closet with a toilet in it. Do you know how embarrassing it is to put a customer on hold to get a ps4 because someone is taking a shit? Lmao.
