Temple of Knox
In a quiet and secluded place within the busy city of Tokyo would be a dark building. It's exterior would seem to be made from a solid black stone and it's door of a ashen colored wood. A few windows could also be seen in a few places, usually decorated with stained glass displaying different phases of the moon. The full moon even displayed what looked to be raven in front of it. The building would overall give off an ominous feeling to any who saw it, as if their was a presence surrounding it that inspired horror.
A woman with shoulder length red hair and wearing a black leather jacket and pants wanders up to the strange building. Her eyes gleaming like ice crystals as she begins to walk into it. The strange feeling of horror that comes upon walking up just... Causes her to smirk a bit, not to say she doesn't feel it, more like she's grossly sure of her own power while walking into the building. Upon entering, she'd shout out and wave to whoever may or may not be present. "Yo! There anybody in here, I'm gonna guess so given that something's creeping even me out, either that or it's full of Uncreated and I'm about to nearly die! But whatever!" She'd chuckle and keep walking forward with a careless grin.
Upon entering Amaya would actually begin to feel...calm. It was as if all their fears had simply been left outside, as if the temple itself was some kind of Citadel of Courage recognizing Amaya and anyone else who entered as a friend. A girl with short black hair would be standing at an altar at the back of the temple. She almost seemed to be meditating as a flock of Black Currawong would fly around her head singing a ominous melody. What would be notably strange to anyone who had knowledge on species of birds was that the Black Currawong was native to Australia not Japan. What would be strange to anyone else who wasn't obsessed with bird would be the large black wings forming out of the girl's back.

Amaya stares curiously for a moment as the clam washes over her, that's quite strange to say the least, ut it almost makes sense. Hmm hmm, weird that this kid has got birds around her like that though. Is she...? As the melody is heard, the woman taps into the Network for a moment and info rushes through her mind. In a blur, she's easily able to figure out that these strange birds aren't even native to this nation at all. Oh yeah, and bird wings on the girl's back or something that's kinda odd she guesses, but whatever that's not important. She'd walk up with a polite smile on her face and attempt to greet the girl. "Ya know, I hope those things aren't gonna last forever. Introducing new species into an environment can be a bad idea. And your friends there ain't native, Amaya Rose's the name by the way. Yourself?"
The girl almost seemed startled by the sudden voice as she jumped slightly. She took a moment to calm down before getting up and turning to Amaya. "Last forever? N-no, they'll go back soon. I just think they're pretty is all. Shiny black feathers and a beautiful voice. Black Jays are really special birds, just like it's close relative the Pied Currawong. Of course, Pied Currawongs are much louder than Black Currawongs and I didn't want to disturb anyone." The girl suddenly blushed a little with embarrassment, realizing that in her rant about birds she forgot to introduce herself. She'd try to calm herself down before speaking in a formal tone. "I am Faye Knox, the current Goddess of the Order of Knox since the last patron deity was slain. It's very nice to make your acquaintance, Ms. Rose. "
She laughs a bit upon seeing the girl jump up, she nods at the bird facts absently. She could learn more, but why bother using her powers for that right now? "Heh, I see. That's fine then, not like I can judge ya for toying around with things a bit sometimes... If anything I've done much the same kinda stuff at times." She pauses at the formal tone, now ain't that a thing. Well if they're doing formal titles, guess she can bring out something at least. "Oh, we doing that? Alright, if you wanted a bit more details I'm Amaya Rose... Free Divinity of Winter, Endurance, and Networks. I'm no patron of anybody..." The woman raises a hand to her chin for a second, the last patron was... Killed huh. "Slain, who pulled off something like that? And why for that matter? Can't say I've heard of them before, must not be a Bright Republic based group."
The girl would nod before answering with a solemn tone. It was clearly a tender topic for her but she knew it was a question that needed to be addressed. "Yes, I'm originally from the Thousand Gods. I'm sure you heard that there's several religious factions in that region that are usually broken up into tribes. Knox was the god of one of the larger tribes within the land but of course that might be easily overlooked based on the large quantity that exist there. Well...One of the more prominent rival factions sent a Godslayer to murder our patron god...that god...was my Father, Knox. As their only daughter and one born with divine blood I thought it right to try to rebuild his order but since I had to flee the Thousand Gods or risk being the Godslayer's next target I thought it might be wise to try building it from the ground up in a location where it might be easier to gain followers."
That is... Oh fucking hell, the Thousand Gods isn't exactly the nicest of places in the world. She just sighs a bit and speaks in a clearly conflicted voice after taking a rather deep breath. "Okay so... How do I put this here. The Thousand Gods is, are you aware of the concept of a Parasite God? If not, how to best explain." She stops for a moment again, pondering the most simple method of getting that across. "Godbound are ultimately basically humans with incredible power. For good or ill, we're humans who can make human choices. Parasite Gods... They can be even more powerful, can draw on worship much more directly and easily, but. They crave it, endlessly, they gain their powers from wounds in reality itself." She'd sigh heavily, this is hardly a fun subject but it needs to be said. "So here's the thing, the vast majority of gods in that area are well, Parasite Gods. You see where I'm going?"
Faye just seemed oblivious to Amaya's point. Her words seemed to click with her but she wasn't quite sure what she was trying to say. Suddenly, she'd have an idea and speak up excitedly. "Ah, I see! So the Godslayer who killed my father must have been under the influence of a Parasite God. Yes, that's the only explanation for why they would have killed my father. He was a very benevolent god after all. Always looking after our tribe before everything else." She'd consider her other point about Godbounds but that seemed to confuse her even more. "Humans with incredible power? No, I don't think that description matches my father at all. He was far more powerful than just a human and of course, since I was his child that would make me a demi-goddess but I hope I can reach the level of a Goddess one day."
Amaya sighs and shakes her head, that's... She's completely missing the point, isn't she? As the woman listens to this rant, she'd suffer quietly for quite some time through all this clear idolization of what she's almost sure is a frigging existential threat to the universe. Albeit a dead one. "Listen, kid you uh... You kinda got the wrong take from my point here. The thing is if he was that powerful... Your dad wasn't one of us Faye, by my guess I'd say he was a Parasite God. They can be nice, they can be good, for a while anyway. But eventually, their power catches up with em. And then, well nobody wants to be around when they inviability go off the deep end." She winces a bit at the end of that speech, she honestly hates having to say this. But it just... Doesn't sit right with her to let this kid think the wrong thing. "I am sorry to say this, truly. But it just, it's the only thing that makes logical sense."

Faye would listen for a moment but her eyes just seemed to go blank. Amaya might feel the effects of the **Citadel of Courage** fade away as the girl before her seemed to grow more horrifying. "That's...N-no, that can't be true. I...you didn't know my father. They were a loving and caring deity. They'd never let their power corrupt them, I...remember..." She'd think back on the moments when her father presented her to the rest of the tribe. She remembered her being told to show off her wings as proof of his divine status. "I don't think I want to talk about this anymore..."
She sighs a bit and pauses, there really isn't any good way to dispell this notion is there... Moreover, who exactly is it hurting? "That's... Yeah maybe you're right kid, I didn't know him at all. I'm just basing it on conjuncture anyways right? Logic's great and all, but it can't exactly fill me on the details or anything. So I'll go ahead and trust ya here. Sorry for throwing it out there." That's partly a lie on her part really, she's still fairly sure of her guess. But there is a chance it's wrong, but the truth is that she can't think of any good reason why convincing this young woman would even be needed. The man's dead and dead Parasite Gods are as dangerous as any other dead people. "And yeah, yeah I get why you wouldn't... Moving on then, I'm curious what ya got besides Birds. Judging by the effects of this place, something mental maybe? It's kinda cool either way though, don't think my power would do much good defending against it either if I'm honest." She knows when to change the subject, and this is clearly not the time to linger. Pointing out a weakness might be fool hardy, but frankly, she's not expecting to fight this girl anyways. She'd just smile a bit and lean back against a wall.
The effects of the Citadel of Courage would once more wash over Amaya as Faye seemed to calm down. She breathed for a moment as her eyes filled with the girl's usual nervousness. "Well...I don't want any potential new followers knowing but I actually also can control fear. Though if I'm being honest it as a side effect of people believing me to be more terrifying than I am. I don't want to scare people away but it's just...happens." She seemed to be hiding the reason why her word of fear seemed to trigger in such a way but in truth she actually knew the reason. "But, you said endurance...right? In that case, yeah. If I wanted to I could hurt people's psyche directly but...I don't really like using fear as much. Aside from that I also am a Goddess of the night. I usually use that word if I want to defend myself."
Hmm, that's a strange thing for a God of Fear to say but alright. She'd take note of the calming effect taking hold over her again as well, seems like that's one issue avoided at least. "Huh, controling fear sounds interesting I guess. Never been one for the more ephemeral stuff though, even Network is a pretty solid thing when you think about it." She can't begin to imagine why this girl isn't a fan of Fear, but that's not really a problem to solve from her viewpoint. "Hmm, fair enough. One of these days, maybe we should find out who'd actually win... Not today though, it's been cool meeting you, but I think I'll head out for now. Got things to do." Mostly, she has things to try and figure out about this madhouse she's found herself in. Things on the Network that she could in fact do from here, but she doesn't feel like it. And thus the woman departs and offers the strange younger Godbound a wave. Seems nice enough, hopefully, if she gets a cult she'll keep being nice enough to them too.
