Armor Time: Futuring Another Woz
Rumor had been circulating of mysterious lights flashing in the wharf located near the Rainbow Bridge. Reports of arcing green bolts of lightning and an ominous white light flying to and from had become commonplace. There was almost a mysterious compulsion that screamed 'Stay away!'; however, it seemed a gap in that mindset had formed, allowing brave souls to venture in and discover the cause of these phenomena. Of course, if you felt worthy.
“Guess I’m likely not getting paid for this am I?” A tall woman with firey red hair mutters to herself as she takes a smoke from her cigarette. It was a general policy not to do charity work, but then again it’s not charity if no one’s asking is it? “All right, lets consider is curiosity then.” Again, she says to herself. She didn’t like the look of these lights, but if anything that’s why she wished to check it out. To see if it meant something needs to be killed. As the woman thinks to herself, she heads towards the bridge, one arm hidden under her long, leather coat just to be safe.
Woz
In a flash of white, it appears that a tunnel opens in reality itself, the inside of which seemed to be comprised of blue cables interlocked into golden numbers. A glowing orb exits from this gateway, and it shuts. The orb floats down to the docks opposite the bridge, it stops and a shadow emerges from it, unable to be identified in the shroud of light. The orb suddenly vanishes and all light from the wharf goes along with it. Only further investigation could reveal what exactly was occurring.
A young woman wearing what appears to be a military uniform of some sort wanders up to the scene, eyes staring out curiously while she walks forward. By her judgement whatever is going appears to be magic of some kind, though hopefully not connected to the general instablity this whole dimension seems to exhibit. No way to be sure on that except further looking though. She'd greet the red-headed woman in a calm and non-threatening voice. "Huh, you some paranormal investigator type or something? Well, the name's Nanoha Takamachi. You could say that I'm doing a bit of investigaton into this place myself." Which is rather strange considering she's a training officer in theory, but oh well. Here she is, looking at vanished light and walking forward while pulling a small red gem from a necklace. "Anyway, I suppose if you plan to take a look at this stuff then we have the same goal for now. A bit strange to work with random people, but this entire mission is strange for me anyway so I'll try and roll with it." Her tone practically oozes professionalism as she goes on, regardless of her apparent young age this woman's clearly been doing such work for a good while.
Kali was never fond of military types, tend to think they’re better than everyone, and this girl gave no different impression. Kali would puff out a ring of smoke as she heads towards the wharf. “Name’s Kali, gun for hire. Long as you can take care of yourself we shouldn’t have a problem.” The older woman gives off a cold, no-nonsense demeanor, no reason to try making friends on a job, especially with people you’ve just met. Now that the coast is clear, she'd go ahead and pull out her rifle, a one with a long, sleek black barrel with a stripe down the side that glows a light red. Given how dark it is, she'd go ahead and turn on its built-in flashlight, pointing the gun ahead of her and Nanoha “Have a real bad issue with kids running into stuff way over their heads.”
(edited by Kali)
Lucky Chloe wanders her way around to where these two girls are, looking at the tunnel with a bit of a curious glance. While doing something like this would be totally stupid, the normal looking teenage girl would gladly take the risks. She goes up to the two and introduces herself. "Hai! What'cha two doing?" She spoke in a horribly enthusiastic tone, broken English and thick Japanese accent in all. Her mannerisms were also fit to be similar to a child appealing to an audience, which would've easily been assumed by her pop-star vibe. "I was taking a midnight stroll. That's how I got here, tee-hee!"
"I knew I shouldn't have opened my mouth." Kali mutters to herself as a random kid runs up to join the group. She's only just seen them and they're already making an even worse impression than the military kid. Kali would try to pretend she isn't there for a bit before growling at Chloe "We're investigating a disturbance, if you haven't noticed, this is a serious military operation which children really have no reason to be anywhere near." she half considers shooting Chloe in the leg and being done with it, considering the unfortunate streak of teenagers who completely disregard her orders, but holds herself back
Pff, kids running into things they can't handle. There's an understandable issue. "Gun for hire huh... I see then. And right back at you, Kali." The stone in her hand briefly lights up, her Device using its telepathy to inform the woman of an utter lack of any useable Mana under Kali's command. That's... Worrying, but maybe people here just do things differently. As Chloe appears, and Raising Heart once again confirms a lack of magic Nanoha just sighs and shakes her head. "I don't know who you are, but this would be a good time to leave. If my instincts are even remotely on point, then this place is gonna become a warzone sooner or later." If this girl is as average as she appears, then it'd be simple enough to just knock her the heck out with a bit of magic. But for now the solider's magic is held back. Best to see how the girl reacts to their order first.
As Lucky Chloe listens to the two girls as they immediately go and reprimand her for even being in the presence of something that's clearly dangerous, Chloe herself nods with an "attentive" look on her face. Really, she was spacing out, but they wouldn't know that. She gives a bright smile and laughs out loud as a response to their worries. "Pffft, hahaha! That's pretty cool of you. Really. Thanks. Lucky Chloe will keep that in mind!" She snaps her fingers and gives them a finger-gun gesture, as an obvious sign of not really caring. Her tone of voice isn't really making her light-hearted outlook any better, but the girl seems to really want to join, if not to do much. "Alrighty, so where are we heading? I wanna be prepared, y'know!"
Woz
The group would be met with a large humanoid figure, which seemed to be metallic in construct. It was covered in black lines which pulsed with green energy. It was much too large to be covered b a single beam from any source of light, and following its humanoid structure, it appeared to be facing away from the group. A sole figure stood in front of it, clad in all silver. He was facing away from the group, and appeared to be writing feverishly in a book he carried. He appeared to be unfazed from his work even if he was struck by the light.
"WE, are investigating, YOU, are going home." Kali points a finger at Chloe to try giving her the hint as they approach the source of the light. Kali would sweep her beam up and down the metallic humanoid, it was like some sort of collossus, inactive for now, but still possibly dangerous. Her companions were an annoying kid, and an obnoxious, but at least competent military brat. One to work with, and one to try to keep out of it. Once she brings her light down to the other, much smaller person, probably the one who built it, she'd speak up in a rough voice. "Hands up, we're on an official investigation here. I'd like you to back away from the machine slowly, and tell us what you're doing so late at night." Of course, she was hoping the officer, and only one with any theoretical jurisdiction, would back her up on this, but even if not she can just claim to be working for someone.
The woman stares at Chloe for several moments. She mutters several words and points a finger at this girl, glowing pink orbs of energy taking shape around Nanoha's head and hovering around while inching toward the pop star. They vanish soon enough though. "I do have your safety in mind miss, so I'm gonna strongly suggest you leave. And if you do anything stupid, I'm removing you for your own good. Stay behind us, follow orders, and don't touch anything. Or better yet go home." Having a clearly untrained and young civilian involved is far from ideal, to say the least. But there isn't much she can do about it without applying brute force to the girl for removal, unless reason somehow works. As they reach the figure, she absently wonders if it might be hostile before deciding to be safer rather than sorry. N: "Boot up please, and gimme a basic scan on that thing Raising Heart." R: "Of course master! Mana detection beginning." Light shines around her, outfit shifting into a far more striking form with blue and gold bracers, a large red ribbon at her neck, and a silver staff tipped by gold holding a red gem in its center. Light emits from the Device, shining onto both figures present and for now simply trying to detect any magic within either of them. As Kali speaks, she'd quickly catch onto the merc's intent and nod while speaking up. Her voice comes out loud and clearly, obviously accustomed to needing to be heard properly. "That's correct, Captain Nanoha Takamachi with the Time-Space Administration Bureau and some questions are raised by the strangeness of you working on what I can't even begin to guess the purpose of. If you wouldn't mind informing us of the details behind that, it'd be great. I don't mean any harm though unless you want to force my hand."
Lucky Chloe gives both of their efforts in getting her to go home some thought, but it seems it was all for naught. After all, Nanoha already gave her instructions for the trip, why waste it? She jumps in the air for joy before pointing a finger at Kali. "No thanks! The other lady here gave me an order! Time to follow it, tee-hee!" She stuck her tongue out before blowing a raspberry, looking back at their new arrival with a very curious glance. From the back of the group, she extended her arms out and waved at them, once again speaking very loudly and with enthusiasm. "Haaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Lucky, Chloe here!!!" It seems as if she's probably the only one not taking it seriously, despite everyone around her knowing full and well that the girl has no powers. Nevertheless, she keeps the positive mental attitude up, projecting an aura that's very...annoying, but eccentric at least.

Woz
The man would scribble something down quickly before closing his book, it seemed thin, unnaturally thin. The green energy from the mechanical giant seemed to vanish, as did the machine itself. Once gone, only the man remained. He laughed, and it was a voice Kali might recognize as the prophet she had met in the GYM. "You have my permission to pull the trigger, officer. It will not fire, in fact every bullet you load into that gun for the next fifteen minutes will cause a jam." He laughs once more, the reflective silver of his clothes almost blinding those present. "If doing the right thing is to be considered a crime, perhaps it is best you arrest me, "Captain". Your jurisdiction holds no power over my actions, so I encourage you to attempt to confine me. The future darkens if you do..." He seemed to ignore the third member, only opening his book and writing once more.
"You seriously wanna try me?" Kali would point her rifle at the air and pull the trigger, intending to show that she meant business, only to find an annoying click sound. It wasn't a dangerous malfunction, but it still takes Kali by surprise. "The hell? I didn't even know these things could jam." with an irritated sigh, Kali casts Chloe a quick glare as she stashes her rifle away back in her coat, replacing it with a small, red magnum, not that she was expecting it to mean anything, but it made her feel better to have a weapon that might work in hand. "Alright then, have it your way. This is our second meeting, and I'm willing to guess you don't believe in coincidences. So I'll ask again, what are you doing here?"
Nanoha raises an eyebrow at Woz, confine him? Never said anything of the sort. "I didn't say I was planning to try and arrest you Sir. I was just hoping you'd explain the situation to me in fact." She pauses for a moment, leaning against her staff with an absent look on her face. "I don't consider doing the right thing a crime, but I am curious how you define the right thing. Moreover, you haven't done anything else I'd call a crime to my knowledge. So confining you isn't within my plan today at all." There's a brief smile aimed at the man, shaking her head for a moment as the woman realizes how that into likely came across. "Hah, I guess that did come off a bit... Possibly aggressive. But really, it's a simple request to explain things. And if you refuse, I've got no grounds to do anything about it." A brief shrug is all that's offered by this point, he isn't wrong about the jurisdiction thing either. Whole place is outside the TSAB's jurisdiction if she's honest, this also isn't what she was sent to investigate, so pressing the issue would be foolhardy at best. Not to mention unneeded by current info.
Lucky Chloe watched from behind the group, gritting her teeth a bit when Woz had ignored her. To her, it looked like she was slightly used to it, but it still annoyed her a little. "Woah, that's cool, heh." No anxiety filled her voice, but at the very least, her excitement was genuine, and so was the sarcasm that had snuck it's way inside her tone. It was as if nothing was wrong at all to her. "Miss whatever your name is, here's a pro-gamer tip! Don't think pulling out another gun will make it look like that one actually works." She giggles once more, winking at Kali. She stuck her tongue out and hid behind what seemed to be the space-cop lady. What looked like her weapon talking was a bit weird to her, but it wasn't like it mattered or anything, right?
Woz
The man would turn to face the group, revealing he was indeed the Woz Kali knew, but his attire is significantly different, as is his book. "Second? I'm afraid you're mistaken, though it could be we may have... I don't make it a habit to remember the face of every brute that deems it necessary to point a weapon at me. " As Nanoha explained herself, Woz would chuckle. "Yes, I suppose that is how I interpreted it... Though I cannot state the purpose of my presence here other than saying that I bear gifts from the future, and as it must seem, another world. Whether or not I deem this time and place fit to receive them is entirely to be determined. Today I bear three, tomorrow? Maybe none. Perhaps I leave today with three gifts not given, no doubt there will be many more opportunities for my work to be done."
Huh... That's a bit worrying, almost sounds like something Jail might... Well, maybe not. No sense in being paranoid when nothing he's done says the man is a danger. "I see then, that sounds like something quite interesting. But it isn't really what I'm here looking into anyways." No, that's connected to the fact this entire place is insofar as anyone can tell. A mishmash of various dimensions that really shouldn't be able to exist at all. Mentioning that little fact though seems like a terrible idea, at best it'd cause panic, at worst someone tries to exploit it. Either way is bad from her viewpoint. These gifts sound like something to look into, but with any luck, he's actually trying to do something good. "Well, I don't think I need any gifts myself. I've got more than enough things to call my own." Something tells her that idiot girl in the back might jump at the chance to get something though, which would be best to simply stop... On the other hand, if one wants to know what something does then seeing it in action is the best method. However, using someone like that as a test doesn't quite sit right with Nanoha. In the end she'd settle upon trying to keep Chloe away if possible. Kali can make her own decisions though.
“Oddly enough last time you seemed more upset that I WASN’T pointing a gun at you.” Whatever’s going on there obviously wasn’t a threat at the moment, so Kali would hold her firearm down at her side rather than pointing it at anyone. The man was talking about gifts from the future, which almost sounded like something one of the Heads might say when they’re wanting to look charitable. Kali’s worked for such people before, so she doesn’t let it bother her, instead she takes another breath of smoke before going along with the presentation “Alright then, what are these ‘gifts’ you’re offering, and more importantly what’s the catch?”
"Woah, you two met each other? That's pretty cool, y'know!" As always, she spoke as if the situation occurring right at this moment actually applied to her, even though it really didn't. All she knew was that this strange man was handing out gifts, and Lucky Chloe wanted a piece of it. Or rather, all of it. "Gifts? I'd be happy to take some, tee-hee!" While she did feel a strange familiarity with Woz, it didn't affect how she behaved at all. Even so, the normal teenage girl isn't leaving anytime soon, and the people around her knew that. Despite the fact that she spent most of the encounter hiding behind space lady, her decisions weren't going to be swayed merely because the girl is protecting her.
Woz
Woz places his book into his jacket, this time pulling out three purple disks. He would point his finger upward in warning. Then he'd point it at Kali. "My gifts aren't to be taken lightly. Nor do I give them out freely." He directs his point toward Chloe this time. "I need not suffer indignant users of the power I offer, therefore I suggest you leave, as I have already found someone whom I have deemed worthy." He'd hold the disks up one by one, showing the face of what appeared to be a stopwatch to Kali. "Today I offer a choice, as you shall be inheriting the powers of legendary heroes who have not yet been awakened. I offer to you, the warrior whose heart is eternally under the blade, Shinobi! The man whose answer to life's question is to save the world, Quiz! And the fearsome warrior whose heart is ablaze, yet his body is eternally chilled, Kikai!" Each watch would hold a face that was very monstrous in nature, of course, this wasn't some kids show, power could be taken by sacrificing an aesthetic. "The catch? Quite simple, there will come a time when you must fight a man with power similar to mine own, I ask that you defeat him and then you are free to use the power as you wish."
“I’ve gotta say.” Kali takes another breath of smoke, letting it billow out in a cloud as she thinks on her answer “The other day I saw a couple of kids running through the park. They were playing hero, fighting some imaginary monster, heedless of reality. Every day the sky is blue and it’s rare to see a kid left homeless. Compared to where I grew up, this place is a paradise.” As she speaks, Kali maintains a calm distant tone, as if merely observing rather than taking part in the matter. As she does, her eyes briefly glance over Chloe, yet another one of those clueless kids she mentioned “If this man you speak of really is a threat, then I’ll help, if only to keep things that way. If this turns out to be a trick.” Kali removes the magazine from her pistol, letting a single bullet drop out of it. This one has a faint, pale-blue glow about it and gives off an unearthly chill “I’ll make sure this finds its way into your heart. If these terms are alright.” Kali returns the bullet to its magazine, before reloading it into her pistol and storing the gun beneath her coat “Then I’ll take Kikai, I’ve always been told I was a cold person anyways. Why not make it a little more literal.” Kali actually shows a bit of a grin, as if laughing at her own idea of a joke.
When Woz points at her, Lucky Chloe points at herself, her mouth being agape as a result of "shock", at least, pretend shock. She really wanted to reach some new lows as a result of recieving the gift, but it seems as if that's not happening. Her words were spoken like a child that was lost in a park. "Hmmm? Me? Awwww..." She slumped in defeat, taking the loss a bit too well considering who she is. Upon seeing Kali's eyes glance towards hers, she responds to her with an annoyingly clueless wave, a quiet little "hi" being whispered as well. Inside, she was having the time of her life, as disappointing as life gets. "Congratulations, whatever your name is! I hope you get to have fun with that, tee-hee!" Her little message seemed to be a parting gift, something that would be said when someone leaves, but the girl isn't doing that. After "pouring her heart and soul" into that little memento, she stayed exactly where she was, looking around as clueless as ever. "Is what I would say if I knew where to go. So, I'm still sticking with you guys! Yay!"
She stares blankly at the faces, these are heroes? Can't judge a book by its cover... Sometimes, there's no shaking the feeling that these things could be dangerous however. Still, she isn't going to interfere with Kali's choice. And what Woz said about fighting someone... "So this person with powers like yours, what's his deal exactly? You seem pretty intent on taking him down, so I'm sure you must have a reason for that." If it's a good reason, then helping out might even be in order. On the other hand, if those watches are as bad as they look then that's another problem. Not one she's obligated to handle, but just writing it off seems more than a bit terrible. Chloe just gets an eye twitch as the woman's grip upon Raising Heart tightens. Arms crossed and staff aimed vaguely towards the girl. "You should probably go home, call it woman's intuition but I have a feeling this isn't gonna be any place for a civilian soon enough." Finally Kali is addressed, a curious tone coming towards her. "You planning to test that thing? Or just gonna wait and see later?"
Woz
Woz would press the button atop the watch, and a monstrous voice would utter aloud. [KIKAI!] Woz would approach Kali, watch in one hand, book in the other. "Congratulations, from this day forth Kikai is no longer an awaited legend, for you have taken his place!" He then lunges his arm into Kali herself, no amount of training could prepare her for the feeling of assuming the identity of someone yet to be. The pain was at first excruciating, as one would expect from having an arm lodged in your gut, but then it turned to an icy cold. The cold was quickly replaced with a feeling of power, as her skin was covered in strange tendrils that would eventually fade to reveal a wicker-man standing where Kali had stood mere moments before. "If you ask why I am doing what I have just done, the answer is simple. Without my influence, a great overlord will rise to power. He is to be the lord of time, as well as the most evil and reviled king known to human history. My duty is to find and awaken the savior who is capable of defeating him. For that purpose, I must bestow powers of other heroes upon those who have the ability to become 'Il Salvatore'." After this monologue, Kali would finally regain control over her body, though it was quite restricted. After all, a new body needs to be broken in before its full spectrum of functions was available. She'd find her speech restricted to grunts and short phrases for a while, give or take a few days, or until she had found the will to suppress the power of Kikai.
"Gaaaah..." it was about as painful as one'd expect to find their body forcefully transformed into something else. Which is to say very. She'd barely be able to hear Woz. Beyond that, it feels like there's another presence in there, something part of the medallion, and now part of her. The other thing is wild, more like a real monster. It surprises her at first, but the rage isn't entirely new to her. She stands there for a few seconds, her breathing heavy and pained. But she doesn't give in. I fact, its almost like she was born for this, she faces the other being she merged with, acknowledging it, and starting to rein it in. After a long, painful moment, Kali stands straight, her body covered in this strange, wood-like material. Their breathing starts to calm, and they turn back, first nodding to Woz, before turning to Nanoha, and stiffly, painfully extending one arm towards Nanoha as Kali gets down into a fighting stands, and forces out two words. "Try me."
Though Kali obviously meant to say that for Nanoha, Lucky Chloe immediately prepped herself up, slapping her cheecks before giving Kali a wink. She stuck her tongue out as she held out a piece sign. "Tee-hee, ok!" She said in a voice so confident it was condescending, the normal girl at this point looking extremely stupid. Rushing towards Kali, she made the first move before Nanoha could reply, getting into motion. "Kyaa!" She got onto the ground, moving her body with one arm and doing a scoot motion to stay at a low profile, performing a kick targeted at the chest that made her dainty little figure spin and left her back towards Kali. Then, she used her one hand to lift her body and go upside down, using both of her legs to perform a backflip kick. "Finish!" Finally, she finished off with one more backflip, kicking with one foot instead of two, leaving her off the ground and standing upright again. While this set of motions was unusual and out of place, knowing how...normal she is, it'd probably be intercepted easily.
Woz's speech leaves the woman staring at him blankly. That's all good well and fine, stopping tyrants is a pretty noble goal even. But is turning people into these crimes against nature really the best way to find a hero? "I see then, if what you say is true then I suppose that to an extent it's something I'd like to help with. But are these watches really the best method of finding someone to take this man down? Surely other options exist..." Not that she's entirely sure about volunteering to try and do it. Her thoughts are quickly cut short though by seeing Chloe rushing forward to perform a blatantly ineffective combo upon Kali's new form. The military mage would raise her staff up as the sound of a bullet clicking within it rings through their surroundings. N: "What the hell is wrong with you kid!? Raising Heart now!" R: "Yes master, protection powered!" Chloe would find herself encased in an absurdly tough glowing pink bubble shield that's firmly anchored to the ground, Nanoha having moved in front of her with inhuman speed. N: "You stay there, and don't try to break it won't work. As for you Kali, I can't say I'm going to recommend this... But I'll oblige your desire anyways!" R: "Divine Shooter!" Six glowing orbs of raw magic burst out from Nanoha's staff. 2 of them simply rush at Kali from the front, slamming down from above as their caster has begun to take off. 2 more would rush at her foe from the left and right sides, all flying faster than any bullet could hope to. And the last simply remain floating above the now airborne mage, Nanoha herself having taken off about fifteen feet above ground level for now.
Kali was still being slowed a bit by the pain and her unfamiliarity with her current form, as such, it takes her a moment to react. The two coming directly at her manage to strike Kali directly, sending off a burst of sparks as Kali stumbles backwards. Now that she's brought back to us, the other two one on each side, would seem to strike her at first, however, rather than see a satisfying series of sparks, Nanoha would likely notice the wood-like armor having grown on Kali's arms, expanding to act as shields from the other two blasts. Kali wouldn't take a break, though she's still unfamiliar with the powers, she's started to work with the wood one already, and so she swings her arm in front of her, launching a burst of wood-like shards towards Nanoha, roughly a dozen go towards Nanoha herself while the others simply spread out into empty space. Some of which would likely strike the shield covering Chloe and bounce off.
Woz
With the combat beginning, a smirk crossed Woz's face. His work was done for now. "If, for any reason, you lose that power, you shall find me! There is much more potential to you than simply this!" With that, the pulsing green lines formed the shape of the mechanical giant once more, and a flash of light would emerge as Woz entered the beast. With that, the door closed, and the machine flew off, whether to the past, or the future, nobody could say...
Nanoha smiles a bit, it wouldn't be any fun if this were too easy after all. The flier is able to dodge a few of these shots, eight to be exact. The remaining four just... Slam into her, they don't seem to do much damage, but the mage is stunned for a moment and left slightly reeling while energy collects in Raising Heart. N: "Not bad, but it will take a good deal more than this to bring me down Kali. Raising Heart, chamber another." R: "Load cartridge, Axel Shooter!" Kali would notice... No visual change with the new dozen shots bursting out from the Device. However they seem to move far faster, and moreover be much easier to maneuver compared to her prior attack. Indeed, the point of this attack seems to be sending it rushing around very near her foe. Encircling Kali but not actually hitting the woman yet, unless she moved forward or tried to attack. There's also a large pink glowing emitting from Raising Heart, but that can't be important right?
At first Kali braces her arms to protect herself, only to find the bullets circling around her instead like a minefield. Obviously just standing there wasn't a good idea, so instead Kali focuses on the wood forming her armor once more, stretching part of her right arm into a vine, which she uses to lash out at the orbs circling her. Of course, any orbs Kali manages to hit would likely burst on her newly developed limb. Once she's dealt with as many of the orbs as seem practical, Kali'd swing her new arm at Nanoha directly, letting it expand to chase affter the mage in hopes of catching them while they're charging.
Kali would quickly be able to take out about half the orbs... Or at least be able to hit them, but as she makes contact the things explode in large bursts of magical power which might at least sting her arm some. As her attack begins rushing at the mage directly though, she would notice the remaining shots both from Nanoha's "mines" and the two above her head rushing into the way. All eight orbs quickly come to meet and merge into one large construct of mana that's goal for the moment is standing between Kali and its caster. The thing is very solid, and would move rather quickly as well in an effort to keep the mage safe. But she isn't exactly moving very fast right now, only about 25 feet up in the air and slowly drifting back, still charging as well, if the Another Rider found a way to get past this repurposed attack then it's unlikely her foe could do much to evade.
Some light sparks would fly from her arm, but most of the damage would be taken by the vines which, once destroyed, are easily replaced. It’s then that Kali learns the real purpose of the orbs. The remaining eight orbs move to block Kali’s vines. Thus, instead of wrapping around Nanoha, the vines would attempt to wrap around the magic construct instead. The vines would continue to grow in an attempt to simply cover the solid construct. If successful, the far end of the vines would harden before bursting out into a set of 6 shards aimed at Nanoha once more. If the vines can’t grow there’s little Kali can do but begin making another, thicker growth of bark in preparation
(edited by Kali)
Nanoha smirks wickedly upon realizing that her plan has worked about as she was hoping, the shards bursting out at her are an issue slightly but... This distraction did exactly what it needed to, the orbs were a shield of course. It vanishes as soon as Kali's vines get all over it. N: "Full power, full throttle!" R: "Cartridge loading, engaging Excelion Mode! Barrel Shot!" The woman's staff shifts around quickly, whirring and changing form in less than a second to reveal a wide tipped spear which begins by clicking with the expulsion of another 'bullet' before blasting out with a quick burst of pink energy that fires rapidly. It wouldn't do a ton of damage, but it would go straight through the shards and blow them off course more than likely. Moreover though, the quick weak beam would also leave Kali bound and immobile for a few seconds if it hit. N: "And now, I think it's about time we get a good strike in!" R: "Of course master, Divine Buster firing!" This is what she was actually charging up, and that point would quickly be proven as a massive beam of Nanoha's magic rushes straight across the field in a blur. The binding upon Kali would as said, break in a few seconds... But a few seconds are all it takes for the vast magical bombardment that's been prepped to slam directly into her. It would engulf the ground around the woman and tear apart vast swathes of the earth if allowed to hit, but even a direct strike wouldn't kill. Merely leaving the target knocked out at worst. And frankly, its caster doesn't except that much.
most of the shards would get blown off course, leaving Nanoha with little more than grazing shots from them. However, rather than strike Kali herself, the small laser would instead run into a wood-like shield that rapidly expands from a point roughly halfway down the vine its going beside. Kali can't really compete with an attack like Divine Buster directly yes, but she's not going to back down either, so instead she simply focuses on building her shield and gives Nanoha two last words. "Try me." before her shield is blasted by the laser. For the most part its split, cuting up large portions of the earth around Kali, but it wouldn't be long before her makeshift shield is burned through, with the remaining part of the blast bringing a series of satisfying sparks as it collides with Kali. The older woman would take a knee, still conscious enough to fight, but there's no need for that. She has the basics for now, and knows enough about Nanoha that they can at least handle themselves. So for now, she'd simply remain there, giving a little thumbs up, though Nanoha might have a hard time making it out given their distance.
"Tee-hee, ok!" The girl said from inside the bubble, getting herself ready before realizing...she's in a bubble. She can't do shit in a bubble, what is she going to do, punch the bubble? Yeah, that's totally going to work. "Ya!" Lucky Chloe punches the bubble. As expected, the bubble doesn't really break, probably doesn't even react to what she did. From inside the bubble, Lucky Chloe saying "awwww" could be faintly heard. "I hope they have service here." She took out her phone and started to play games on it, not caring anymore about what's happening outside her own little bubble shield. Maybe she can do some kind of live vlog from inside.
The woman begins preparing more magic with a gleam in her eyes, not just anyone could still stay conscious after taking a Divine Buster head on. While the younger of them's got more than enough mana and power to keep going, she doesn't really see any point given that Kali is clearly willing to call it quits. Her Device however... R: "Shall I prepare our next barrage master!? Just say the word and I'll gladly turn this place into dust!" N: "No need Raising Heart, we're done with that match for now. It's a simple draw, and I see zero point in going any further than that. Power down please." Raising Heart sighs in her usual digital tone, clearly far more entertained by combat than her master is. Even so, the woman would float back down to the ground as her Barrier Jacket is replaced with the normal military uniform again. Staring over at Chloe's latest outburst while the shield around that fool of a girl vanishes as well. "That was pretty good miss Kali, if you can keep that power from going out of control then it might just be pretty useful... I don't think most people could do that though, which worries me. But it isn't really my mission here, I'm just trying to figure out why this place is such a dimensional mess really." Her voice is fairly calm and even, the sound of someone who's speaking to a person they consider equally. As she looks over at Chloe though, that voice would become far sharper, arms crossed and giving the girl a dead serious look in what is best called 'lecture mode'. "As for you miss Chloe, I've met some foolhardy people when I worked as a combat instructor. But even they had the sense to ask for orders before rushing into possibly deadly events. What if that device had made her go berserk? What if I weren't here to keep you from being hit by the crossfire? Would you still have just rushed in like that? I don't know what you've learned so far, but generally speaking when you're told to follow orders you don't rush off without asking first. If you wanna play around like this kid, next time I'm knocking you out and just sending you away by force. Anyways, I think I'm going home now." There's a pause as her eyes watch Chloe, very closely. And with one finger aimed at the pop star almost like a gun.
Lucky Chloe finally notices that the bubble is gone, falling down on her rear. She gets up and dusts herself off, ready to take a midnight stroll back home until she is intercepted by Nanoha. Chloe points at herself as she takes on a confused expression. "Hmm, me?" She listens "intently" to Nanoha's lecture, nodding at some parts while gasping in shock for some others. Once it finishes, she giggles once more, giving the girl a wholehearted smile so happy and carefree it's supremely annoying. "Tee-hee, thanks!" The girl takes her phone out, snapping a photo of this very moment. She holds up a piece sign while Nanoha points her finger at her, a selfie that Chloe will probably forget as soon as she gets home. Just like all the advice that she has gotten. "Alrighty, I'm gonna go home now! Lucky Chloe, out!" She skipped down to...wherever, a hop in her step as she texts some more on her phone, presumably editing the photo that had both Chloe and Nanoha in it, probably Kali in the background as well.
Nanoha's seen this look before, it's the look of an idiot who isn't listening at all to the words of someone who's trying to keep them from ending up a corpse later. She nods as her staff and barrier jacket reform. N: "I understand, you don't learn by listening to people. A lot of kids are like that, the only way to teach a lesson sometimes is by beating it through your skull right?" R: "Flash Move!" If one had inhuman reflexes than reacting to this woman's blinding rush would be possible, if not... Good luck. R: "Divine Shooter!" Magic rushes out of Raising Heart in a quick burst, half a dozen shots flying straight towards Chloe from both her front and back as the mage now blocks her path. "You act like this is a game, or like you can get through anything and come out alive... But that's not life, go ahead, show me I'm wrong about you." If the attacks made contact, they wouldn't really inflict much damage. But they would hurt a good bit, which is the point.
"Woooowww!" Somehow, and I repeat, somehow, Lucky Chloe dodges the shots that seem to go straight her way, with style, grace, and a whole lot of unintentionality. Though as a result, her phone breaks. Sad. She looks back at Nanoha, the same stupid and uncaring smile was plastered on her face, but her words seem to be holding back something. "You wanted to fight? Well, why didn't you say so, tee-hee!" She kept her back turned, giggling a schoolgirl laugh, when suddenly, she rolls backwards with...normal speed considering that she's just a normal girl. Albeit, what wasn't expected was the scissor kick that was followed up after the rolling motion. Again, like the series of backflips that was used against Kali, the set of motions was weird, and it'd work...but considering that she's a normal girl, it wouldn't be effective. "Pfft, ha!" Instead of kicking up like she usually does, she does a little handstand, her legs freezing in place horizontally like a chair, eerily similar to what breakdancers do. Then, she gets back up on her feet, standing up straight, and gives Nanoha a thumbs up. It seems that even with the situation at hand, the girl was still playing around.
The girl's attacks just... Slam into Nanoha useless, a glowing pink shield made of ruins coming into being and blocking each and every one of the girl's blows with ease. The thing doesn't even really shake or shimmer, and there's no visable damage which gets through to the caster. The results of a normal human attacking a powerful mage. N: "No, I don't want to fight. I want to make a point, this place is dangerous Chloe. And the next person you decide to try and pick a fight with might not be nearly as nice as I am. Raising Heart, make sure we don't miss this time." R: "Axel Shooter, full spread!" Another bullet clicks from the Device, Nanoha rushes up about twenty feet into the air before suddenly sending her next attack at the kid. It's very much like the 'minefield' she used on Kali, but rather than floating near her to try and box the girl in these would just rush forward at her from every possible angle, even seeking the girl out some more if she dodged. 32 shots in total fly straight for Lucky Chloe each set to merely inflict pain and possibly knockout rather than truly damage. "You might be playing around here, but I'm not anymore. I really hope you take this lesson to heart, because if not... It might be the death of you."
Upon seeing the girl go into the air, Lucky Chloe does the most logical thing she could think of. Even with all the advice she's been heeding, as well as the warnings sprinkled in, she straight up starts to cheer for the girl. At this point it was clear that the girl was completely ignoring everything, not really caring about it anymore. "Wow, that was so cooolll!" She said excitedly, the smile plastered on her face as to give Nanoha a message of her own. Knowing how well the girl's been doing so far, she could probably guess what it was exactly. When met with the 32 blasts coming straight for her, a smirk forms on Chloe's face, though she doubts anyone could actually see it. "Heh, thanks for speeding things up!" Lucky Chloe proceeded to turn around and run. While one could easily assume she's trying to run away, that isn't happening. Instead, she actually seems to put effort in, dodging the shots that come her way without any need to try and hide the fact that it wasn't on accident. Seeing as they wouldn't let up, the girl runs over to her phone, the only thing being broken being the screen. "Smile, tee-hee!" On the cracked screen, Chloe then made her phone go to the camera, snapping one last selfie with her winking at the camera as she gave it a wave. Right after, all the blasts hit her, from every angle imaginable. A very overdramatic scream of "pain" was heard when they did hit, and the girl was on the ground, unconscious. As she laid on the ground, a trademark shit-eating grin was on her face, her eyes closed. It was probably one of the only time that anyone ever got to see her out of character.
"He could've warned me." With both Kali and Kikai weakened from the blast, the woman would find it easier to revert back to herself, the woody vines retreating for now, hiding themselves beneath her jacket before disappearing completely. Of course, she still possesses the ridewatch, but after some practice she's gotten to the point of basic usage. "Learning there's some kinda monster in it isn't a pleasant surprise. But it seems like everyone fights with 'em these days." With her piece said, Kali would just stand back and watch Nanoha discipline Chloe with a grin. Kali was never really fond of military types, but this one seemed like they might be alright. If nothing else they have their priorities in order "You kids about done? I'd like to go home soon, if that's an option."
Nanoha nods in agreement towards Kali, he could have done that yes. But he didn't, and that worries her a bit... "I find it somewhat suspect that he failed to mention those side-effects, personally." Her head shakes for a moment as the device begins glowing, a small beam of light blasts into Chloe that would... Not really heal her, but infuse the girl's body with enough energy to wake up in a few minutes vs a few hours. As she begins speaking about the said girl, the woman's voice would take on a very annoyed tone. "Anyways, yeah I'm done. That kid is... Well, if this doesn't teach her just how easily some people can end her life on a whim then frankly I'm not sure anything will. I'll be seeing you around I think Kali, might even request your help sometime. But for now, goodbye." With that, she simply begins walking away from the scene. She'll go back home soon enough, but before that, a brief walk and discussion with her Device is in order. Either way, neither Kali nor Chloe would catch heads or tails of the soldier anytime in the immediate future. The End: Unless someone else adds anything
