Sun Mall: Lazy Afternoon
A pair of young women wander through a crowded mall, not that they seem to be paying much attention to those around them. One's got blonde hair and is wearing a black t-shirt, along with a pair of dark blue slacks. The second is wearing a white sweater and skirt, each of them holding onto their opposite's hand. The sun shines down into the mall through a large window above, the entire celling showing it even, perhaps that's the namesake? N: "Still black, huh? I'm gonna get you to pick something else that isn't a uniform, one day." F: "Heh, maybe. I like it though, not as if there's anything wrong with that." Nanoha shrugs slightly, just giggling at her partner's taste. It's more a tradition to bug her than anything, really. The brunette stares around the area curiously for a few moments. Fate's eyebrows quirk upwards. F: "Something wrong? You seem distracted, and I don't think it's just because it's the usual." N: "Nah, it isn't. Just this place I guess, the whole place is one mess of mixed-up worlds right? And nobody even bats an eye at that. They just keep going on, I don't get it." The blonde nods at that, this world is rather strange to her. The people just keep on trudging despite this madness around them, it's almost impressive to her. But she gets the discomfort too all things considered. F: "Well, nothing much to do about it I guess. Let's just try to have fun for now, yeah?" Nanoha nods at that and starts walking a bit faster, despite that though, there's a gleam from a red gem around her neck. Scanning for magic, or anything else out of place. Fate sighs slightly while noticing that, but now they simply walk towards... For now, a rather large fountain full of coins that the pair leans back against.
Underneath the floorboard in front of the duo was an undetectable prescence, purely because they had not used their magic yet. In a start, they pop out head first. The first thing the two would see would be a head of long dark red hair and a cute red dress and eyes obscured by dark sunglasses. She stands in front of the pair and points their fingers at Nanoha as if they were a gun. "What do you know about this dimension? Who are you working for? What size bra do you wear? Wanna go out for dinner, your treat?"
Another girl wearing a simple, dark-red uniform walks the mall alone. She doesn't seem to mind, and even manages to strike up a quick conversation with a few passerby as she goes on her trip. She spends much of her time talking with a Florist, carefully selecting each and every flower before thanking them and continuing on her way. Soon enough she'd pass by the fountain, a somewhat familiar face for most of those there.
The pair stares blankly at Kyoko, they are both clearly very confused by this barrage of questions. But Nanoha steps forward and answers... Some of them. Even while Fate just looks on in shock. N: " Okay, one by one. First off, Not much, it's some kinda... Mosaic of words one might say, a tangled mess of things which have meshed in strange ways. Secondly, we work for the Time-Space Administration Bureau, a thing judging by that odd magic filled ring on your finger I kinda think you should know about miss. Third, maybe kid. You look a bit out of sorts. So perhaps." She then pauses, taking a deep breath as the blonde begins to blush. Kyoko would find herself being glared at by both parties for a moment. N: "And finally, to address your third question. I'm not answering that, and it'd be very wise to stop asking along those lines. You're way too young for us both, and we're married. Not to mention how amazingly rude that is. Also, name's Nanoha Takamchi, and I'm unsure if it's nice meeting you or not. F: "What she said, pretty much. Just... Word of advice, if you actually want to have any chance. Maybe don't walk up to random girls like that, could help matters." The pair then turns to Nanaka, though Fate doesn't know who she is. Nanoha still recalls the girl, even if she only saw her untransformed briefly. She's greeted by a wave and smile. N: "Ah hello again, Nanaka-chan right? Unless I'm remembering wrong. Oh and this is Fate, my wife." The other woman simply waves and stares casually, briefly asking a few unheard questions of Nanoha before greeting the magical girl. And staring down at her ring. F: "Mmm, Fate T. Harlaown, don't ask about the names it's a boring reason, work-related honestly. Nice meeting you though, I hear your first meeting with Nanoha was a strange one. But at least its quiet now."
Nanaka looks up briefly at the mention of her name, to find the.. They called themselves a Mage, yes? From earlier with a friend of their own, and another girl she had not seen before. Not wanting to be rude, Nanaka waves back with a cheerful smile "A pleasure to meet you again Takamichi-san. And your friend too." Nanaka shifts the flowers over to her left arm, cradling them safely as she gets the space to adjust her glasses while obscuring her silver ring. The young girl adjusts her glasses before continuing "It was most certainly an... Interesting encounter, I apologize for being of little assistance. I'm afraid I'm not the greatest of fighters."
Nanoha shrugs a bit, the girl clearly isn't the most used to fighting, and that's fine. Fate just giggles slightly as she gives a reply. F: "Haha, not much help... What, did you just do everything yourself Nanoha? Sounds like you." N: "Eh, not exactly. There was another woman, Miriam I think. She was pretty strong. And don't worry Nanaka-chan, you'll get better I'm sure. If you plan to. Actually I was kinda wondering if I could ask some questions, about that weird magic you use. Not Belkan, or Midchildan for that matter." The blonde eyes Nanaka a bit more curiously at that, quickly taking the lead in the conversation for a moment as Nanoha just leans back again for now. F: "No magic circles either, huh. I'm curious myself if you don't mind us asking. Who the heck taught you how to be a mage?"
Kyoko does the Sans shrug thing, making eye contact with the nearby food court and speaking to the side so that the others would barely hear. "Kyoko Sakura. I'm investigating this... network of worlds as a favor to an old friend. Unfortunately, the trip must've stunted my growth. I'm much older than I look in actuality." She then coughs and turns to the group once again, sitting down and leaning back on the water fountain. "But you should be careful about who this information gets out to. Incidents have been reported of individuals who have suffered permenant psychological damage due to the discovery of the nature of this world. Others have been gone missing or in rare cases found dead after leading investigations into the subject. This is no place for amateurs, kiddo."
Kiddo... Nanoha's eyes twitch a bit, is this girl actually gonna try and act like she knows what she's doing? Fate sighs slightly, she's torn between trying to call Kyoko out, and taking her seriously just to see how long the girl can keep it up. N: "I'm a grown woman, please don't call me kiddo. Moving on though, yes we're sure that it isn't any place for amateurs. No need to worry about us. I'm a bit surprised to hear about the damage though, people going missing..." F: "Isn't all that shocking, really. This place is a bit dangerous if one doesn't take care. At any rate, I'm rather curious about this friend of yours. But we didn't actually come here to work, not really. And I'm kinda hungry, you want anything?" The pair would begin walking off towards the food court, it isn't the greatest food in the world. But that also isn't the point of it, they're waiting in line for a bit before reaching the front. Giving Kyoko ample time to respond if she actually wants food.
"Ah, yes, food. I will require ample energy to continue my investigations." Kyoko follows them up to the food court, relaying to Fate her order. "In that case, get me a... Pounder, large fries and an orange vanilla coke."
They both chuckle a bit upon hearing that, but given a few minutes Kyoko's got her order. Along with a far smaller burger and chicken sandwhich that the other two would begin muching on as they start eating. They do speak between bites though. F: "Alright so, call it curiosity I guess. But how is this... Investigation going Kyoko-san? Seems to me that nobody really knows much, but maybe we've just been looking in the wrong places?" N: "Mmm, it does appear to me as well that there's a lack of info. No lack of weird things going on though, that's to be sure. Ever been to that GYM place? Just full of all kinds of magical energies, so many people come through." Fate chuckles upon hearing that, recalling a match she'd fought not too long ago at all. F: "Hah, yeah I went by there too. Had a fun sword fight. But yeah, how much magic is around, how different it all is. Kinda interesting, in a weird and vaguely concerning way. Don't you think?"
Kyoko sits down and.begins chomping into her meal, stealing glances at the other girls while chewing. "Well, all i've got is a theory on how it developed. I doubt anyone else has fared much better, but if I can somehow reverse engineer its creation then it'd be easier to test out several theories. The biggest cause for concern would be its ability to interact outside its scope. That part doesn't particularly interest me and it's near impossible to tell when and how any other worlds have been affected."
Because I fall asleep too easily I'm just gonna pretend this was posted in decent time. Nanaka looks off to the side for a bit, as though searching for something, but whatever it was she doesn't seem to find, as she goes right back to smiling "Its no problem at all. I suppose its only fair enough for me to answer your questions." The girl closes her eyes, her usual smile dropping for a moment before nodding "I'm self-taught, for the most part. The one who gave me these abilities is a small, white creature by the name of Kyubey. However, as I'm far from the only Mage in this city and we've only the one Kyubey, he doesn't really hang around much. I'm guessing you two had a different mentor, no?" Nanaka looks up to the other two inquisitively, expecting some sort of answer
I will also pretend this was posted in decent time, damn work. Nanoha looks curiously at Nanaka for a moment, what an answer. Kyubey, the hell is a Kyubey. Fate's just as clueless, but either of them can give out a response to her question at least. The blonde sighs while going into that, her own training is quite a mess to say the least. But putting it in understandable terms isn't impossible. Even if she frowns a bit while speaking on that. F: "Self-taught huh... Explains why Nanoha couldn't place any of the formulas you use, what kinda math did you come up with anyway? As for who taught us, I was mostly trained by... Long story, I can sum up by saying an employee of my mother though. In a sense." Nanoha's reaction to considering her start is far more cheerful, lips curving upwards as she looks towards Nanaka's eyes. N: "Mmm, I was taught how to do magic by a friend. He's also a mage, you could say we just happened to meet and well, he needed help, I had potential. In the end, a chance encounter with that boy changed my life forever. Without him, I'd have never met Fate... I'm curious though, who's this Kyubey?" She chuckles while finishing off the last of her food, absently leaning against the other woman's shoulder while said woman blushes slightly. Though both seem to grimace a bit upon hearing Kyoko go on. F: "Mmm, the affecting beyond its scope issue is our main concern. The rest, not so much..." N: "Aye aye, ideally something could be done to prevent it in the future. But there's no telling for now."
“Neither of you have met it?” Nanaka raises an eyebrow, if nothing else this definitely confirms their abilities are different, but there’s no reason not to continue explaining it in the other pair’s terms anyways. “I suppose my situation would be closest to Takamachi-san’s. You can think of Kyubey as like a manager for the Magical Girls here. It hires us, brings out our potential, and informs us of our objectives, but does little to actually help out.” Nanaka adjusts her glasses, before letting out a sigh. “I’m afraid I don’t have much free time today, however if you’d like I can inform Kyubey of your desire to meet it next time I see them.”
A reddish-brown haired boy is seen quickly devouring a mound of fries in massive bites. He looks rather distant, but there is definitely a playful aura about him. He glances down at his layered jacket mid-bite to acknowledge a loose button “Damn. Again? Paid a ton for this one, too.” he continues to mutter incoherently while resuming his feast of fries
Kyoko frantically spits out her drink and rises from the table, glaring between the three. "Listen, you two." She stares intently at Nanoha and Fate "You're no amateurs, so i'll tell you this much: those who accept what Kyubey has to say, no matter how good their deal may seem..." She pauses to stuff her face with a handful of fries. "...are as good as dead." She then stares motherfuckerly at Nanaka "Consider this a warning."
Nanoha raises an eyebrow at the girl's reply, does little to help out? The heck kinda magic teacher is that, even a weakened Yunno was far from useless in a pinch after all. All in all, it indicates a strangely user friendly system to her if just about anyone can pick it up without much formal teaching. N: "Sure, we've got... Questions about this thing I think. Might be worth looking into." F: "Yeah, call it curiosity but I can't shake the feeling this Kyubey is something strange." As for Kyoko's words, those bring forth a sigh from the blonde while her partner seems to smile. And clench a fist under the table N: "I see, I kind of take that as a challenge Kyoko-san. If you tell me something like that... No choice but to look into it more, and try to figure out a way that I can help if it's really so dangerous." F: "Mmm, I guess that it's another case. More work we aren't even being asked to do. That's fine though."
He glances down at his ketchup smeared plate in disappointment. “There goes my paycheck...” He begins fidgeting with the black rings around his ears and runs his fingers through his hair. “It’s fine. Isn’t that game store open?”
Nanaka meets Kyoko's gaze with an equally icy glare. She takes a deep breath before calmly noting "One ought to be careful making such baseless accusations. Without proof you're simply comparing your word to theirs." As a fellow Magical Girl, Nanaka would make use of their little telepathy trick to add I'm not sure how much you know, but its best to bide one's time. Lashing out gets you nowhere. With her own part given, Nanaka clears her throat before nodding to Nanoha and Fate "Strange is a nice word for it, I suppose I'll let them know. For now I have to be heading back." Nanaka takes her bundle of flowers and heads out the mall. She briefly looks over at the brown-haired boy, but with no reason to take note of him she simply keeps going.
"So be it." Kyoko, having nearly finished her ginormous burger, stuffs the rest of it in her mouth and licks her fingers. Carrying the bag of fries and drink in one hand, she then gets up from the table and looks around the nearby stores. "I'm heading into Game Store. Let me know if 30-50 feral hogs happen to attack the mall." The girl would then nonchalantly walk toward the Game Store, entering in and immediately considers buying a dozen different amiibos before realizing she doesn't have any cash on her. "Huh..."
He looks down in disappointment at the seemingly shrinking array of DS games. “This is crap.” He then notices a particular figure out of the corner of his eye and proceeds to make a beeline in that direction. “Limited Edition Voltron model? Sweet!” His smile begins to falter as he realizes how expensive it is. Still, he pauses for a bit and seems to be negotiating with himself.
