Mission Mode: Fend Off The Corruption!
Through no will of your own, you were given a mission. Whether it be transmissioned on youe cell phone (which it would be should you have one one hand), broadcasted to your television or sent to you through a fax machine, a virtual halogram would intrude in the same space as you. The man being projected stood in a gentlemenly manner with his hands behind his back, maintaining an intimidating posture. He furrowed his brow, the round spectacles on his face somehow intensifying his glare. He spoke in a serious, direct way, making no visible movement save that of his lips. "This message will not repeat, so listen closely. You have been selected for a vital mission, along with a few other candidates assuming they may answer the call. Should you succeed, you will be rewarded with a base compensation of ten million yen. Of course, the transaction will be private, so it will be subject to federal taxation. In addition to this, you may be rewarded based on your efficiency. As for the actual summary of the mission, you will be required to travel to the Zarutora private institution in the Zeekai district of Cyberhama, the city neighboring Tokyo. All expenses for this trip will be paid, as well as the one back. Your mission will be to defend the school at costs. Should whatever equipment you have not suffice, we will be willing to supply you with whatever you deem necessary at no additional charge. If I have successfully piqued your interested, you may board the flight at (coordinates) at 5 am tommorrow morning. You may also go just for further inquiries. Forgive the haste, for time us of the essence. This concludes this message." Should one go to the location disclosed, they will find themselves in the parking lot of an extravagent airport seemingly owned by someone affluent enough to use it exclusively privately, since it had no patrons nor evidence that it ever did, save that of a threatening stranger garbed in a military grade assault jacket showing off the darkest shade of black. Heavy shades obscured his brow, but his solemn lips gave off an air of professionalism. He stood by the entrance, motioning for you to discreetly approach.
'As you are!' - I pulled my Iai sword out of my umbrella, waiting for the plane.-

The thuggish man headed inward, pointing to an arrangement of sofas and chairs meant to seat a sizable party. He would pour a cup of coffee on the counter behind the seats, sitting it down on the coffee table in front of one of the couches as he sat on the right side of it. "So, I see you are already steeled. Punctual as well, seeing that you are the only one here. My boss must've chosen you for a reason, but he trusts my judgement as well as his own. How about you discuss your capabilities while we wait, consider it an interview albeit of a more informal kind." @eihara-shiomi join this discord server for help with or planning rp: https://discord.gg/2D8jz3s

' Ok then. My skills, although, weak, can pack a punch when used correctly. I can dodge attack at light speed, and I am the top of my class in Shujin Academy.' -I would pull my P.A.D. out of my sweater pocket, and would start playing with it.-

"You are at the top of your class?," the man repeated laconically, "You mean to say you think yourself befitting of the responsibility this mission begets, while yet still a dependent and allowing thyself to be distracted in discussions of great import?" His lips fell to frown as he spoke, his brows furrowing close together as to display his displeasement "Perhaps some formality is necessary, as you have made yourself out to be a liability. Instead, why don't you discuss what qualifications you do have? You are well equiped, but the fighting will not be one-sided, so how do you intend to win?"
"Somewhere like this? Seriously?" Kali lets out a sigh as she approaches the airport. boarding a plane seemed like overkill for somewhere relatively close by, but a job's a job, she's not going to complain about one with such a high payout. The woman lights up a cigarette as she approaches the airport, one hand on the gun beneath her long black coat as she looks around and approaches the military man "I take it this is the place? I've worked on this kind of mess before so go ahead and brief me."
Scuse me. Sorry. I'm, um, going this way. Thanks. *Quickly behind Kali stumbles in a girl with strange coloured eyes and a cheerful smile. She breathes a sigh of relief.* Phew. Made it in time. Thought I was gonna be late. Hee hee hee. *She waves at everyone already in the area.* Hiya!
"Wow, you mean to tell me that people wanted to be in time for this?" The teenage girl said, walking forwards with her heel boots clicking everytime she took a step. In her left hand was her phone, and the other, a lollipop. If the look on her face was to tell anything, she was a bit annoyed. She put the lollipop in her mouth and side-eyed her phone as she spoke again, texting for no apparent reason. "I saw that stupid advertisement everywhere. Might as well show up and deal with it so it won't annoy me, but..." She put her phone...away. Wherever it went. It was clear that she had actual place to store it other than down her skirt, but the cellular device is now missing in some action. "At least I have others who can do most of the work."
"Dear god why are they all teenagers?" Kali whispers to herself, having had far too many experiences with the youth of this city. None of whom made her jobs any easier in the past. Hopefully she can simply wash her hands of what's about to happen and focus on the mission at hand. Kali lets out an irritated sigh before looking back at her companions "Alright, you kids seem pretty new to this kind of thing, so just listen up, follow orders and you should make it out ok."
*Tana raises her hand.* I'll have you know that I think I'm at least 20.
"What do you mean you THINK?" Kali snaps back at Tana, breathing out a puff of smoke before throwing aside her cigarette "If you can't even remember how old you are why are you running off on dangerous missions?"
Cause I was invited. And if someone invited me, they must know who I am. *Tana gasps* Oh. Hey. Maybe they know how old I really am.

"Well, this is turning out well." The man waves at the newcomers, sighing at Kali's concerns as well as looking over at Tana personally. "I am afraid that corporate policy prevents me from disclosing personal details, even to whom they belong. ... Beforehand, I would like to make it clear that you are only temporary employees --replacable units-- and will be henceforth addressed solely as "Mercenaries". Your mission is to prevent evil spirits from gaining influence over the physical world. Now, once you are ready to begin merely walk through that door and be prepared to cross over." The agent points at the wall adjacent to the door through which each person entered, and as they look over green wires intersect to make the shape of a door frame, eventually forming a solid steel exit. Anyone who walks through this door would notice that they are on the outside of the same airport, but in a different location. For one, as opposed to being in a desolate location the parking lot now lead into am active highway. Second, they would find gray intersecting lines stretched across the atmosphere, as if they held within them the boundaries of the world itself.
That's a shame. Ah well. Can't be helped. *Tana smiles simply, putting her hands behind her head and listening. She tips her head at being called "Replacable".* I only really came to find out stuff about who I was, but this sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I always wanted to be a mercenaries Well, I think I have at least. It sounds cool, so I'm sure I always wanted to be a mercenaries. *With a giggle, Tana skips forward through the door.*
"Yeah yeah, I get that mercenary talk all the time. 'Disposable' is my job description after all." Kali adds a confident smirk as she pulls out her primary weapon, a slick black rifle with a glowing red stripe along its side. The girl goes ahead and switches out the ammo, changing its red glow to a slick black as she asks one last question "You called them spirits, I take it that means physical attacks probably won't be very effective, right? Not a problem, decaying rounds should do the job just fine." once her question is answered, Kali would give the other man a nod before heading through the door herself
"Wow, mercenaries. Sounds crude. I only came to have fun." The girl looks at her two other supposed companions with an eyebrow raised. The nice girl that's most likely easy to bully and the gruff and tough bitch that's experienced and will probably get on her back. Fun composition. "What-fucking-ever, let's get this party started." With that exposition dealt with, she twirled her hair as she took a selfie, heading through the door with a few clicks of her heels.

Suddenly, the screen on Aubrie's phone goes black, a cyan omega symbol popping up and spreading over the width of the screen. A 3D holgraphic image projects from the screen, manefesting at torso level and showing an aquamarine map of the city. A yellow sphere pops up at the group's location with a red line protruding from it, extending through the roads of the map. It ends at a small, secluded building. Itachi's voice emits from the phone, loud enough for everyone near by to hear. "As a precautionary measure, i've taken seizure of your electronical appliances. This will allow great ease in your misson." Following the given trail, the party would arrive at the quaint school, but would find no signs or labels to ascertain it's background. Standing in front of the glass doors was a barely middle-aged man dressed in a gray cardigan and brown cargo pants, his gray hair all but non-existent. "Ah, you must be the agents we sent for. Come on, i'll lead you in." Itachi tried to transmit a message, but it came out muffled and indeciperable. "A shame, that might've been important. Would we but had the budget, upgrading the wifi would be a high priority. But, we can talk about that later." The man would go ahead of you and enter the building, leading you through the wide halls.
Aubrie simply gazed blankly as her phone gets demoted to Pocket Itachi in less than .5 parsecs. Her eyes eyes are as dead as the phone, if she were to actually kill it right now, which she feels extremely tempted to. "Well, the best part of this mission has now been deceased. I feel obligated to break this and buy a new one with dad's credit card." As she met with the old man, the girl played with her hair, brushing one of her platinum twintails with her fingertips. Her eyes looked up and down at the old man to examine him, and then at her hair. Sizing up people despite being short is a natural talent. Under her breath, she complained a bit with a quiet and bored undertone. "Someone else talk to him please..." Afterwards, she followed along like she ought to, humming and taking out a brush to brush her hair, revealing her blue strands at the end. Her phone's back in her pocket so the message might be even more muffled now.
“Heh, poor kids. Being forced to watch what they’re doing.” Kali follows the path to the school, keeping an active eye out for any trouble along the way. Once they arrive Kali nods to the older gentleman “That would be me, Red Mist hand for hire.” Kali steps to the front of the group, gun out and at her side as she follows the middle-aged man “Stuck babysitting again but as long as you can point me at the target everything’ll work out just fine.”
I already told you. I'm not a kid. I'm at least 20. I think. Seems I'm not the only one with memory problems. How old are you, lady? *Tana pouts at being called a kid again, following far to closely behind her.* And what kind of name is Red Mist? Where did you get it? And how? It sounds cool. I want a name like that. Like "Tana, Star Rebel Saviour of the Seven Millennium Galaxies.". That might be too long. Was it too long? Oh right. Guy we're here to help. Duh. * Tana leans to the side and waves at the man cheerfully.* Hi there. I'm Tana. I'm here to help. This is a grouchy older woman and the other girl is Miss Phone Addict. We're team Awesome. No. Wait. Too generic. *Tana looks back to Kali* What's our team name?
“Until you’ve been in a real fight you’re a kid. Age has nothing to do with it.” Kali gives a curt reply before passing her steely gaze onto Tana “Red Mist is a codename I got from my first few missions where all I left of my targets was a fine red mist. Giving out your real one when on a job with a bunch of strangers is poor form. And one more tip.” Kali lets out a sigh and points the gun back at Tana “Never ask a woman her age. Especially if she’s armed.” With that the girl returns her aim and her gaze to the mission ahead
*Tana listens intently to Kali's advice. Even as she points her gun, Tana doesn't flinch, simply staring Kali down with a bright eyed look and a smile never leaving her face.* I see. OK, Miss...erm... Mist. I'll keep that in mind when I become a Mercenaries like you. Thanks. Hee hee hee.
“Uh.. Yeah, sure kid.” I’ll give her maybe two missions, and only because I’m here for the first. Hopefully this one’s had enough to scare her off
As she kept brushing her hair, she eventually closed her eyes and started humming the iCarly theme, harmonizing the actual lyrics in her head. Mostly because she's extremely bored and also because she has no faith in the one that supposedly has the most experience here. "...leave it all to me..." The teenage girl said extremely quietly before she ended up falling asleep while standing up. She's still walking though, her heels clicking like always. While the brush would have fallen to the ground, the twintail she was brushing had actually wrapped around the brush so it'd stay afloat.

"Ah, well, I appreciate the service, 'Red Mist'." The man leads the party further in, on the way they can spot various unlabeled rooms, but could tell from the contents within as well as from background knowledge and context that they would be various offices. Eventually, he would lead you down steps to the bottom floor of the atrium, an octogonal ground with large steps to sit or stand on in each intercardinal direction and small steps to climb guarded by rails on each cardinal direction. The man waited until everyone stepped in around the middle and then climbed up a step in front of them, turning around and smirking. Suddenly, black walls arose behind each large step extending through the steps adjacent to form a full enclosure, trapping the party within. The man pulled out a revolver and held it to his chest. To make matters worse, an ominous shade rose up behind everyone, taking the shape of a man. As the features revealed themselves, his casual tropical dyed buttoned up shirt would stick out, as well as his somewhat unsual for the occasion blue jeans. A nightblack jacket materialized behind him, which he put his arms through and left unzipped, allowing his hawaiian shirt to show through. He spoke impatiently "Alright, let's cut to the chase. You don't know what kind of job you've undertaken, so i'll let you out of it. You go see a movie, I withdraw my troops, I slip ten billion yen into each of your pockets, you tell you employer the threat was badly defeated and no one's the wiser. Now, what will it be?" He pulls a cigerette and lighter out of one of the pockets of his jacket and blows a puff of smoke, snorting and flashing a smile at Kali.
"You know, mercenary work's about more than just the money." Kali doesn't allow herself to be intimidated, rather she gives off a casual air as she stares down the other man and takes a breath of her own cigarette "Reputation matters too. If it gets out that I failed to fulfill a contract my reputation'll be shot. Soon enough I'd have a hard time landing any sort of work. And I trust you know how bad that'd be." Kali tosses her cigarette on the ground, though its true she doesn't really know what this mission is, that hasn't stopped her before "So how about your goons move before I have to move you? Unless you've got a real good reason to the contrary."
The girl quickly woke up, not from the sudden conversation, but from all the cigarette involvement what with the smoke and one of them being thrown on the ground. Were there no signs that could have told anyone that this was a no smoking zone or something? 15 years is way too early to be taking in cancer smoke. "I-erm, uh..." She lightly tapped her other...partner in crime, Tana, with her useless phone, giving off an extremely cranky look with her glare. Of course, her twintails were also tangled a bit as the stray strands were sticking out sometimes. Whipser yelling so the adults can have their fun is a nice talent to have because nobody likes loud asses. "What the fuck is happening again?"
