GYM: A Typical Day To Brawl
A girl wanders the city streets, absently passing through a rundown back alley of Tokyo without a second thought before coming to a large building. There's a slight pause at the door, but she'd enter soon enough with a shrug of her shoulders and a dull look on her face with hands buried in jacket pockets. After the lights flicker on she would simply stand next to a wooden training dummy and draw a simple wood sword from seemingly nowhere. Slamming away at the training dummy with startling strength and speed for a sixteen-year-old girl, it borders the line between merely impressive and inhuman at several moments even. Shadows flickering around her body in strange ways as the girl smiles a bit. "Well, I certainly feel different after... That, better all told. Hmm, I need to put myself through some actual challenge though. With any luck, someone will drop by who can help there." Homura shrugs a bit and looks around while musing to herself, not having much else to do but warm up some more given the place is still currently empty.
Another girl walks by the GYM this late afternoon, as she had taken to doing since her first encounter, better to learn about the place by meeting its stranger denizens. The magenta-haired girl adjusts her glasses as she takes note of another person who seemed to have the same idea. Nanaka follows Homura into the building, setting her school bag down by the counter before bowing to the other girl "Ah, pardon me. Do you know where this is? I've moved to the city rather recently so I haven't collected my bearings yet."
The girl would slam her training weapon against the target's 'head' one last time, shattering the wooden sword with a sigh before she turns to Nanaka. "Dangit... Those things cost money to replace, but I guess it's bound to happen when I've gotten stronger and all. Anyways yeah I do, if you mean this building in general than it's uh... I guess you could call it a fight club of sorts, can only guess how we get away with it. I just assume nobody wants to tell us to stop." She can't imagine that annoying the supernatural weirdos who are often mildly unhinged is a favored passtime of anyone after all. Homura would then pause before going on. "And if you mean what part of the city itself, Ikebukuro, kind of a rundown part of it but it's one of the big shopping and entertainment districts. Oh and I'm Homura Akemi, nice meeting ya I guess." She'd stop after realizing that she'd entirely forgotten to introduce herself while offering that explanation.
"I suppose rather few have the courage for it. After all you seem rather impressive." Nanaka gives the other girl a bit of a childish giggle to go with the compliment. The slightly younger girl brings up her left hand to adjust her glasses, giving Homura easy view of the signature silver ring with a magenta gem around her middle finger. "Tokiwa Nanaka, as in the flower-arrangement school. Its always a pleasure miss Akemi."
The girl nods a bit at that, staring at the ring curiously. "Yeah... And I'm not the most frightening person to walk in these doors by any means..." She can't help but ponder upon that ring while absently drawing a gleaming black katana that's got runes carved into it. "Something tells me you aren't quite the average person though hmm, Nanaka? And just call me Homura, not like I have much care for formality these days. Anyway, I know what that ring means, wanna go a round?" She'd smirk a little while walking over to what looks like a fighting area, a mystic circle enscribed on the ground around it.
"Hmmm? I suppose I can't get anything past you can I?" Nanaka gives the other girl a friendly smile as she brings her ring close to her chest, her outfit changing from her ordinary school uniform to a vibrant magenta samurai's kimono with a single sheathe hiding two blades by her side. "This is a good chance to see the quality of this city's residents. Though I suppose its only fair to warn you that us Kamihama girls are a bit tougher than the variety you might be used to." With that Nanaka would head for one side of the arena, taking a relaxed stance with her eyes closed.
Homura would stand at the opposite side, pondering simply unleasing bullet hell upon the other girl to see hpw she reacts but... Nah. "Hah, I just keep an eye out is all." She's got no fancy transformation any longer, just a blue card which floats in the air while Homura's blade rises up. "I'm not a magical girl myself, not anymore. And I'd say we're... Varied a good deal, hope you're right though. Cause I won't hold back after hearing something like that Nanaka." The card shatters upon her weapon as blue flames burn up in a dazzling blaze, a woman with inhumanly pale skin wearing a black dress would take shape in front of Homura. The outfit seemingly made more from flowing solid shadows with an image of a clock on its back. "Now Lilith, lets start off simple. The girl's idea of simple seems to be the shadows around Nanaka rapidly forming into a web of spikes that encircle her, dodging away from Homura as she rushes forward to let forth a powerful overhead swing with her sword designed to force Nanaka back into the spikes formed by her magic.
"Anymore you say? Interesting... since she had already admitted to being strong there was no reason to hold back entirely. For now she simply focuses, sensing the shift of magic behind her and using it as an excuse to initiate her first move. "Blossom Storm." Nanaka loudly announces her first move, the girl draws her weapon to slash through the air at her feet, sending a wave of magic-laced petals into the ground, which then kick up as if blown by a powerful breeze and circle around her, not only shredding through Homura's spikes, but also providing a barrier of razor-sharp petals between Nanaka and her opponent. Though her form is somewhat obscured by the flowers Nanaka can be seen opening her eyes as she continues. "A good effort, but you can't expect a simple trick like that to work."
Homura would chuckle a bit in reply to that, judging by the look on her face she clearly didn't expect it to work all that well in the least... Though, if Nanaka were watching them she might notice the shredded up shadows not exactly fading. Instead flowing around formlessly like a goop for a moment. "Nah, I didn't at all. Woulda been a disappointment if it worked too well, I was more curious how you'd react." Blocking isn't the move she expected, but magical girls who can use shields and such do exist. Considering Homura's general focus in combat upon raw speed, such a trick might be painful to get around for her. "Lilith, Mother of Monsters!" The shadows that had been cut up would congeal into a single form, Lilith clearly focusing upon them for the moment as Homura leaps a bit back with her blade ready. Soon enough, the persona's spell becomes apparent as a shadowy figure of a girl with a long ponytail holding a spear takes shape upon Nanaka's other side. "... Huh, that one kind of reminds me of... Nevermind actually, just hadn't tried this trick before so I wasn't quite sure how it'd work out. Makes sense she can create things to fight for us though, given some myths." They'd mostly stay in a defensive position for the moment, though Homura and her new creation clearly getting ready to do something shortly.
"Interesting, an ability to create your own familiars. I'm afraid I've nothing that impressive." familiar is what she'd call the creature, for lack of a better term. The breeze around Nanaka would dissipate soon, leaving the other girl seemingly open. But of course, there was no reason to wait. While ending the fight is something she'd normally do against a Witch, there's little point to trying for it here, instead she'd simply focus on the minion for now, let Homura show what she can do. And so, Nanaka tests the waters, ducking low as she rushes the creature spawned behind her in order to get below the reach of their spear before drawing her blade once more to vertically bisect the figure
The 'familliar' seems rather skilled, but its fighting style is... Well, the shadowy spear in its hands breaks apart into several chains each one holding a different bit of the shaft, aiming to tangle up Nanaka's blade by digging the sharp bit into the ground behind her while another of its parts move upward and place part of the 'chain' between them. On the other hand, if that move did fail then it would indeed be split in half by the sword. Clearly not having much in the way of superhuman toughness. "Just like she used to..." The sight is clearly nostalgic for Homura, but she isn't about to let up simply because of that. Nanaka would find herself one getting much slower as Lilith waves her hands and a dark green light covers her body, and two the sound of a gun firing would ring out through the air. An automatic rifle blasting off a dozen shots towards the magical girl's center mass, though if they impacted Nanaka would notice they're 'only' bone shattering thick rubber bullets rather than heart-stopping lead.
"Oh, miss Sakura?" she hadn't expected the familiar to fight like another Magical Girl, but that's what her second blade is for. In a flash Nanaka draws out the second weapon, a short katana like the first, and uses it to slash through the spear's chain before finishing the familiar off with her original blade. "Now that's fascinating. Even if its just a shadow of them..." her talk is interrupted by the sound of gunfire, though Nanaka can feel herself getting slower its clear for now that she has somewhat of an advantage in raw power, something she can leverage at the very least. As soon as the gunshot rings out the girl spins around and slashes, however she brings her blade up a moment too slow, and ends up getting her arm struck rather than turning the bullet aside as planned. Though Nanaka winces a bit, it doesn't stop her from following through with her plan and slashing through the air to send a wave of her razor-sharp petals out at Homura "Any more tricks up your sleeve or would you rather I take the offensive?"
The famillar doesn't go down without a fight, tearing her weapon's blade from the ground and shooting it straight towards Nanaka's left leg with rapid speed. She'd be finished off soon after that though, vanishing back into the shadows she was made from due to being cut apart so thoroughly. "How do you know Kyoko? As for if I have more tricks? A few in mind, I gotta go faster for one!" The black-haired girl grins a little bit as the clock image on Lilith's back begins moving, several times faster than a normal clock should at that... Which meshes rather well with the fact Homura and her persona are moving several times faster than anyone should be able to, an almost invisible flurry of blades flying at Nanaka from several directions nearly at once while Lilith sends off a pair of absurdly quick tornadoes from each hand, which together absorb the petals into themselves before rushing straight back at Nanaka while the persona user rushes away after her flurry. Panting a little bit while the clock returns to stillness. "That one is... A little bit exhausting though I'll admit... Not as much as the first time I used it though, practice makes perfect I think."
the dying attack from the familiar doesn't surprise Nanaka, who avoids it by swiveling on her right leg to go around to its side before finishing it off. "How is it that any two Magical Girls become acquainted? Kamihama's become quite the hub as of late. Ever since those Magius girls started their work." Nanaka looks at Lillith for a moment, the creature very much resembled something she was familiar with, though miss Akemi's degree of control over it was unusual. Once she notices Homura speeding up, there's no way for her to keep up with that, so instead... "Blossom Storm!" as before, Nanaka slashes the ground at her feet to create a barrier of her razor-sharp petals. This gust of hers clashes with Lillith's tornadoes, letting the two cancel each other out. Of course, without her shield Nanaka is left desperately attempting to fend off blows, though she may manage to ward off a few it wouldn't stop the majority, leaving Nanaka fairly wounded herself. Though her injuries begin to heal, Homura would likely notice the gem in her flower-shaped hairpin growing a bit darker. Nanaka keeps her friendly grin up despite her apparent hardships "you really ought to come up with a name for something like that. Really there's no harm if they can't react to it anyways and perhaps you'll find yourself having a bit of fun, don't you agree?"
The girl smiles back a bit at all of Nanaka's replies, only speaking up again after Lilith returns to her side given the end of their blinding assault. "I guess... But I've never really sought to have fun with these sorts of things honestly, a fight isn't a hobby. And I don't engage in violence because I enjoy it, I do it when somebody gives me a reason and I get it over with. Even this isn't for fun, it's just because I need to know my new limits." Her blade would twirl around at that, vanishing from sight and being replaced by a shotgun that she aims towards the magical girl as her persona causes deep shadows to form near the pair, ready to form into a shield at a moment's notice. "Anyways, I'm curious to see what you can do on the offense, so go ahead now if you want. I can't evade everything, so it's good to practice defending too sometimes."
"I can respect someone with goals." Nanaka lets out a sigh, closing her eyes as she continues, even if just for a moment she has found someone she can speak to, after all if miss Akemi were to share something personal it is fitting to do the same. "I suppose one could say I've become simple-minded. You see, the Tokiwa family was long known as the progenitors of the Kashinryuu, a well-known and respected style of flower arrangement. That is, until a pest came along and ruined it all. The family school falling into the hands of some corrupted and overeager apprentices who brought it to ruin." Nanaka opens her eyes as she raises her blades once more. "This is why I fight, to bring vengeance upon the one who brought my family to ruin and restore our name to its former glory. I wonder.. Just how strong is your conviction?" Nanaka begins with a low dash towards Homura, before slashing towards the ground between her and Homura. This time her flower petals raise up like a curtain, obscuring Nanaka from vision as she dodges off to the side to aim another slash at Homura's gun. Since she can't exactly change to non-lethal weaponry she'll focus on disarming her opponent instead.
The girl smiles slightly, that's a motive she can't understand much. But it's intresting to hear about something regardless. Fighting for one's family name is all told strange idea to a girl who's never once cared for her family all that much after all. "Heh... I can respect a goal too, I don't understand the desire to do something like that. But I've got well... My own reasons and I guess I can talk about it." She'd stare at the girl, merely taking a wild stab in the dark past the veil of flowers. A shotgun is the right weapon here though, blasting forth with a wide spray that's likely to score a partial hit against Nanaka. Though only firing bone-shattering beanbag rounds. The weapon flying toward it would be caught by Lilith though, in the form of a shadowy net taking shape and aiming to not only grab on but pull their foe forward with inhuman strength. Of course there is the matter of the girl's other weapon, they're really just banking upon her being stunned by the jarring pull forward for that. If not, there's likely to be pain for it. "I'll tell you why I fight though, in very short it's to protect the people I care about. That's what it's always been about really, at first it was just the one but I guess my list expanded a little bit after coming here. Regardless of how few or many though, I won't ever give up on it." Her face is a stone cold mask while speaking that, but there's an obvious and burning passion in the girl's voice as she goes on. The kind of feeling that drives people to either amazing heights or ruin. Or both.
Homura would find her pellets to be blocked by Nanaka's wall of petals, each imbued with magic to slice through most ordinary weapons and leaving Nanaka untouched by the fire. "A desire to protect.." Nanaka is lost in thought for a moment, but is snapped out of it by Lillith's net. Nanaka aims her second blade, not at the net but rather at the ground between them, stopping her lunge and craeting another flowery veil between them. However, this time Nanaka has had enough. The girl next appears sheathing her weapons outside of the arena "Reminds me a bit of Akira, in a way. That girl was never very good at minding her own business. Still, she made a steadfast and dependable ally, if a somewhat foolish one."
The girl smiles a bit and stows her own weapon away as Lilith vanishes back into Homura's soul once more. She'd place her hands back into the coat's pockets with a grin on her face while walking over. "Akira huh... Well, I can guess why you'd make the connection if she's like that. Geez though, is she another magical girl too? It sounds like your city was packed full of them Nanaka. How the heck did that even last without a war breaking out or something?" She sounds a bit confused by this point, the thought of so many getting along while competing over grief sounds... Very unlikely, but the idea of magical girls openly going to war is also plain surreal. Normally they'd simply move on for greener places, at least to have heard Kyoko or Mami tell it back in the day.
"There were easily dozens, though no one ever got to make a proper headcount to my knowledge." now completely finished, Nanaka returns to her usual maroon school outfit and picks up her schoolbag as she continues telling her little story "Magical Girls from all over were attracted to our abnormally high concentration of Witches. One could hardly go a day without finding one. They tended to be rather powerful too, so it seemed more practical to work in groups. I myself lead a well-respected quartet." Nanaka sighs, adjusting her glasses and allowing her friendly smile to drop for a moment "Of course, there were some more troublesome groups, but for the most part anyone who sought to push others out was seen as a fool at best, or an enemy at worst."
The girl whistles a bit as Nanaka finishes up, sounds like one hell of a strange city to say the least. "Jeez... Where I was from the most we ever had at one time was five, and that... Didn't last long before the numbers dropped a bit." She'd grimace slightly while thinking about that little fact, it's been two years since the madness ended but she doesn't exactly enjoy pondering. "Well, those were kind of dark times but no need to dwell on it. Suffice to say things have changed... A whole lot has changed since all that happened after all. And nobody can change the past so why worry about it right?" She can't help internally cackling at that little joke, but outwardly there's no reason to laugh at all of course as she begins heading out. "Anyway, it was nice meeting you Nanaka. You should drop by my place sometime, my cafe that is to say not my apartment obviously. But I'm gonna head home for now, see you around." If she expressed interest in actually visting, Homura would offer up some directions to the other girl before setting out with a slight smile on her face. She does have places to be today after all, and they're frankly far more fun than this. Even if Nanaka had turned out to be fairly nice, on the surface of it.
"I would be delighted." Nanaka smiles at Homura, bringing out her phone to note down the directions before bowing to the other girl once more "I'm glad I was able to make a few connections here, if you're ever in need of me don't hesitate to call alright?" as Homura had with her cafe, Nanaka would offer HOmura her phone number before heading home herself. It was started to get late and she didd have a guest to entertain.
