It’s edgy, it’s vulgar, and at times borderline trashy, but if you can deal with that, then what you have is an astounding feat of independent animation. This 30 minute pilot is the proof this field has needed for decades that you don’t need a major studio to succeed in the animation industry. One of the most beautiful, ambitious, and all-around interesting pilots I’ve seen in ages came from a group of amateurs online who wanted to prove they could do it their way. Hazbin Hotel is one of the most exciting projects I’ve seen in years, and even if you don’t personally find it entertaining, it’s difficult, if not impossible to deny the passion, time, creativity, and talent that was put into this pilot. Never in my life have I seen such a professional pilot come out of a group of independent talent.
