Tokyo Café Seiren: #Phansite
Itsuki Aoi, ordinary teenager, uses his mirage's carnage form to slice through the door of the cafe and completely obliterate it. Upon entering, he notices the cafe was completely vacant. Chrom: "Itsuki, there was a powerful foe here, but they must have fled." Itsuki: "That's odd. Oh well, might as well make the most of it and get a cup." Itsuki walks over to the coffee machine
Sen Megumiba, ordinary teenager, can hardly believe what she sees when a boy about her age suddenly obliterates a cafe door before casually walking in with the intent to steal coffee. The girl takes a deep breath before following after Itsuki “You... Know this counts as breaking and entering right? And you’re just going to casually use the place while the owners are away?”
Itsuki completes ignores the concerned human "Huh, did Tsubasa forget where we're supposed to meet again? I better check in with her on Topic." Itsuki pulls up his phone and texts his friend
“I’m... Pretty sure you’re in the wrong place.” Sen crosses her arms with a sigh as the girl taps her foot impatiently “Seeing as this cafe isn’t open at the moment.”
"Wouldn't that mean you're breaking and entering? That's a crime, you know."
"Actually since I haven't broken anything it would be trespassing upon private property at worst." The girl corrects Itsuki without a hint of a smile on her face. Yet she seems to have come to her own realization upon saying it "Which is why we really ought to get out of here and perhaps discuss somewhere where you don't have to break the door down."
"No, I don't think I will."
“Very well, have it your way.” Sen brings out her phone from within her schoolbag and begins typing on it “If we cannot resolve the issue among ourselves then I will have no choice but to do my civic duty and report this incident to the authorities.”
"I doubt they'll show up. There haven't been any police since around 2017."
“You really have no idea how the justice system works so you?” With that Sen brings her phone up to her ear, waiting for a moment before beginning her report “Yes, hello. I’m here to report a criminal incident. I sighted A high-school age boy with blue hair and a blue jacket breaking down the door of Cafe Seiren on [Redacted]..... Of course.... Wait you’re serious?” The girl’s brow furrows in confusion before she repeats “You are serious. Alright. Just doing my civic duty, keep up the good work.” After putting down her phone the girl comments “Father told me the crime rate had gone up recently but I never thought it would be this bad.”
"Yeah, good thing there are people like me around to protect all the civilians from those dastardly mirages."
Mirages? Don’t even ask, you’ll just get another nonsensical answer. Sen Narrows her eyes at Itsuki before stating “That wasn’t a very good joke. Self-centered delinquents who only need the feeblest self-justification like you are the problem, not the solution.” Sen brings her phone out to do a quick calculation as she continues “That last call was the 27th incident report they received in the past fifteen minutes. That’s about one incident every thirty-four seconds. That’s absurd.”
A floating red hood phases through the wall behind the counter, covering a ghost like presence "Crap, they're here! Tsubasa? Touma? ...Darn, i'll have to handle this myself!" Itsuki, dressed like a feudal lord and wielding a sword shaped like the Falcion from Fire Emblem, jumps in front of the other boy to protect them and points their sword at the ghost-like being
[Kazuo makes his way in after witnessing everything go to crap in about a single second or close enough.] What are you two even doing here? I have no idea from which weirdo hole you erupted but you better stop. Before any of the goodie-two-shoes show up. Talking to you in particular, pretty boy. [He was not amazed by whatever that ghost thing was. He had seen enough powerful ghost-like things to simply accept it as normal.]
The girl looks at the cloak in a moment of recognition. Paramecia? What would one of those be doing here? She thinks. A case of mistaken identity, but one that works in Itsuki's favor, as Sen would stop nagging him for now. "Our conversation isn't over, but I suppose this comes first." As an ordinary high-school girl, Sen backs away from the Mirage, ending up nearer to Kazuo and the door. "That's... What I was asking, but he doesn't seem to be willing to cooperate."
You're new around here, aren't you. [Kazuo casually says after putting his hands inside his jacket's pockets. He seemed somewhat bored, deciding to go to the point.] If so, you'll get used to this... kind of behavior. Though more often than not, some other guy or girl with weird powers shows up to stop whatever it is it's going on. Kind of how I just showed up as things got more complicated. You'll find that bizarre attracts weird. [He would wave his right hand as he brings it out of his pocket to make a polite greeting.] I'm Kazuo by the way, sorry if you really aren't new and I just said obvious.

"This isn't... My first encounter... I stopped by a place called GYM earlier...." The girl averts her eyes, looking across her right shoulder, distracted. "But I've been living in this city for over a year now and everything seemed perfectly normal until recently." The girl looks back up at Kazuo, straightening up before introducing herself "Sen Megumiba, age 16. My father Seishiro works as a criminal prosecutor, and I aim to follow his example."

Hah, that means I'm your senpai still, junior. I'm 18 and a 3rd year. And... [He crosses his arms to wonder how much he should really say.] My mom is a surgeon and my dad works designing computer hardware. That's about it. [He would look back at the scene, scratching his left cheek.] Can you fight, Sen? Because if you don't, you really should fix that at some point. If you know GYM, then that's the best place you can go to find anyone that'll teach you.
"I see.. Thank you for the consideration Kazuo-senpai." Sen awkwardly looks off to the side, tugging on her sleeve before answering "I haven't really had a reason to learn. After all I'm still an ordinary high school girl." Sen's attempt to grin seems somewhat pained, but there's nothing to be done about it. Though she supposes at this point they probably wouldn't consider her a lunatic, going into detail wouldn't help at all "So I never saw the need to be able to fight here."
Y'know, saying you're an ordinary high school girls just make your more suspicious. It'll set off someone's danger alarms so do consider that. [He was tired of standing around so he took the nearest place to sit on, letting himself go as he speaks.] Let's hope you don't really have a reason to do it then, but you never know. There's always some lunatic... [He points at Itsuki.] ...pulling off something strange and getting anyone near them involved.
Itsuki defeats the mirage and it explodes for some reason. He then is taken aback by Kazuo's accusation. "I-is it somehow my fault that mirage attacked?"
"Probably." Eito speaks out of turn, walking into the place casually with his hands tucked into his coat's pockets. "Been here for a while, seen plenty of stuff. Most of the people here have their own weird monster-nemesis thing that shows up to start trouble every now and again." "Always happens when they're there to deal with it personally, though. I'm no scholar, but all those situations can't be just a series of coincidences, right?" He shrugs lazily, his flat gaze idly moving between the three other individuals before him.
"I.. Never thought of it like that. I suppose I must seem suspicious. But really... No that won't help either." Sen lets out a sigh, trying to release the tension she'd unknowingly built up. But with the incident over she's glad to take the chance to focus on Itsuki again and avoid the question "Even if it isn't your fault that's no reason to go breaking into businesses. You ought to be more careful." Sen's attention is taken by the newcomer. He was right, it wouldn't make sense for everything to be a coincidence.. And considering recent events.. Does that make this her fault? Still, she must hold her feelings close, if only for the moment. After all, there's no reason for anyone to suspect her... That sounds suspicious, doesn't it?

"...Duly noted." Itsuki nods
He's got it. Guy in red is totally in the right. It is fact that that's exactly how it usually goes, and the more people of weird backgrounds get together, the crazier it goes. [He says laughing at Eito's sudden appearance and taking from him what he was about to say. He wondered if they had similar minds then. Before saying anything else, however, he would turn his attention back to Itsuki.] Oh, so the place isn't even your own. I guess that's why Miss Prosecutor got involved.
Eito briefly nods at Kazuo's agreement, then swiftly turns to look at Sen, raising an eyebrow and looking at her with an incredulous expression, apparently amused. "Are you new here, per chance? I mean, not really looking to encourage 'criminal' activites and all, even if I couldn't care less, but it really doesn't matter." He shakes his head, his expression turning flat once more. "The Nexus may look like a pleasant cityscape that just so happens to kidnap random people from throughout the multiverse, but it's really more of a magical shithole that's only kept together by eldritch forces beyond our recognition and the fact most of those kidnapped people keep each other in check." This brings back a grin onto the tired man's face as he cocks his head towards Itsuki. "Stuff like breaking and entering? That's common etiquette for most of us involuntary interdimensional travellers."
"Yeah, that's true, I did break in here. However, a mirage attack would certainly cause far more damage than a broken door. You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs." Itsuki's feudal lord armor and sword disappear, leaving him in his regular attire.
"I've been living here for almost a year." Sen gives Eito the same short answer she'd given Kazuo. Two sentences in and she could already tell they weren't likely to get along well. Though his explanation was obviously that of a lunatic, with the things she'd seen over the past few weeks she couldn't simply deny it either. So instead the girl avoids the question entirely. "Laws exist for a reason. They act as a guideline to set boundaries on our actions since us humans can't always be relied upon to make the best choices." Sen gets a serious look in her eye as she glares at Eito, having seemingly forgotten her current position as a powerless nobody here "Would you seriously set yourself above the rest of humanity? Like some sort of god?"

Suddenly, the roof starts floating off into the sky before going out of sight. The sun then forms a spotlight in the middle of the cafe. A balding man in a lab coat descends from the light's source, T-Posing as he slowly falls to the ground right in the center of it. "Yo, did someone say god?"
Okay, first of all. Red guy over there is doing crazy talk, this place is just Tokyo and people of all types end up here for random reasons. We don't really know why and those who did would rather forget about it or are dead. Second of all, I've been around for at least two years longer than you, girl. I can tell you law is more a deterrant than an actual guideline, because some laws I've seen encourage doing some awful things. Third of all, red guy does have a point. This are random and sudden. So if there is a tiny bit of weirdness or out of the ordinary in you, you're bound to be dragged into some weird shenanigans, and I swear I've seen the police about, two times in two years. [Kazuo shrugs. Then the new thing appears.] ....and I don't blame the police or most of the legal system. But man, do they try.
"Depends entirely upon your definition of what humanity is here." He says to Sen, as casually as discussing the weather. "You ever notice all the rando's around us? The ones not dressing in absurd outfits with absurd weapons going on absurd adventures? Do they ever have an effect on the events around us that actually matter?" Eito answers his own question with a chuckle and a shake of his head. "Of course they don't. Because they're nothing more than scenery. Background characters that only exist to flesh out this world. The only ones that are important here are people like you and me." The clearly somewhat insane man extends his pale hand towards his counterpart, then swings it wildly towards both Itsuki and Kazuo. "People like that guy that just broke into a store and murdered a weird monster, people like this other guy that actually noticed and casually came in to talk about it. We're the only ones here that can truthfully say we're alive. We are humanity. I place myself firmly above the trash that fills out the background, same as you would place yourself above the furniture in your house. It's really just that simple." He puts his hand back in his pocket, staring Sen down with his empty eyes.

Guy, I will seriously kick your ass if you keep talking like a 13 year old who just found out Nirvana exists. [He places his hat on the table, closing his eyes, pressing both index fingers on his temple as if he just had some sort of migraine.] It better is an age thing... geez, what a joke.
Sen doesn't really have much of a choice but to take these lectures... Even if one of them is the raving of a lunatic. The one in red infuriates her, but as before without the ability to act upon it she has no choice but to simply argue back "With all due respect Kazuo-Senpai. I simply cannot agree with that. A law is unjust only so long as it no longer represents the will of the people it serves. In such a case it is our duty to alter it to fit the needs of the future. Not to act outside of it. Those who enforce the law, like my father, are still working hard to maintain some semblance of order, even if its a fruitless endeavor. To commit your all to something. That is justice. As for you." Sen glares back at Eito with a fierce light in her eyes. She's much like a cat staring down a much larger predator, though she's aware she could likely be crushed, she still has to stand for something "Then you really have gone mad. If you're willing to simply throw aside everyone's wills for your own convenience, then you're just as bad as these monsters, maybe even worse."
Eito spares Kazuo a look, only giving him an amused grin, as if inviting him to try, before turning to his primary focus. "Never said I wasn't, kid. I don't much mind being called a monster, in truth. I could give you some more of my philosophy on how the term 'monster' has no worth in any case, but I see you wouldn't care to listen much." He shrugs idly. "Still, if you want to act like some sort of hero of justice and call people monsters, I suppose you ought to act on your words, right? Strike down the evil-doer and such." The madman grins again, his hand falling down to one of the sheathed swords tied to his hips, grasping it's silver hilt. "Of course, I'm not really one to lay down and take some punishment." He draws the silver blade completely, a wave of heat immediately bursting forth from it's exposed presence. He lazily points it at Sen. "Make your prayers and all that, this'll be quick." He raises the deadly weapon as it sets itself aflame and begins to swing it down in an inhumanly quick and lethal arc, only to stop right before it strikes true. He pauses idly. "Then again, I'd feel pretty bad for killing a defenseless kid, even if I am a 'monster' by your words..." Casually, he throws it into the air, allowing it to spin once before grabbing it by the blade, the searing heat failing to even affect his hand. He calmly points the hilt towards Sen. "It's called Tyrfing, got it off some fairy goddess for completing one of her challenges and murdering a reflection of myself. Wild stuff, would love to tell the tale, but now's evidently not the time." "Don't have much of a use for it considering what my little Persona can do, so I figure it might as well find it's place in the hands of an owner who actually believes she's on the side of justice."

It's opinions and all, but law only works in the context of everyday, clear and obvious type of society. Think of the amount of countries that exists within the world and how cultures, with their own values and also laws built within their context cannot ever get along with others that represent thing that to them are "wrong" or even and "evil" that must be punished. Law is serviceable but begins to lose traction the higher the scope, in particular when you realize you have to make general rules, and then more specific rules that may or may not be just under a different number of factors. Point is, law is there but it means nothing in particular as soon as the context for what it was made falls apart, kind of like a lot of the things that happen around here. [He would show her both hands open.] What do we do with sentient species? Do human rights apply to them? What about self-aware machines? How do we prove killings with methods and tools never before seen and impossible to imagine or recreate? How will the police stop a demon that can eat anything you throw at it unless it's fire magic? Are acts of vigilantism illegal despite those being the only thing standing between everyone living normal lives and the complete destruction of the city or worse? Should the government hold control over such individuals and treat them like another force, despite being effective due to the individuals working as they do? Should all species follow our laws? How about citizenship and nationality? How do we prosecute a deity? [He would lower his hands after proposing a set number of examples.] All of these are a reality, as crazy as it sounds. In such a weird, chaotic world, you need to figure out where you truly stand as an individual in a world tha- [He would stand up as soon as he could and draw a hidden rapier the moment he saw Eito even attempt to strike. He managed to get in the way but he stopped the attack himself. Kazuo sighs and hides his weapon yet again, glad that nothing happened.] Alright, I've been talking about this the entire time and I hate to repeat it. But weird attracts weird. This is not the kind of place you belong in, Sen. For your own good, you should probably turn around and forget any of this ever happened. ... At the very least I can promise not all are as bad as this one, he seems especially..."Edgy".
"Wow guys that's really interesting but I wonder what is taking Tsubasa so long" Takes a sip of coffee
With Eito's now direct threatening, Sen reflexively steps back, but there's really not much she can do about it, only for her senpai to have to save her. The girl stares at Tyrfing for a moment, before simply closing her eyes once more. As humiliating as it is, and as much as she might hate the situation, she really doesn't have much of a choice. "My apologies for wasting your time." Although frustrated, Sen remains polite enough to bow to her senpai, Kazuo, before running off to continue her day. It was foolish, really. There's no point in asserting one's Ego without a way to defend it.
[He rubs the back of his head as Sen runs off somewhere. He wonder if he'll ever see her again but really, it was probably for the best if that didn't happen.] Real charmer, aren't you. [He sits again and puts on his hat, somewhat annoyed by the almost comical behavior of Eito.]
{Tsubasa steps in to the cafe, reflexively stepping past Sen in order to hold the door open for her, being a bit concerned as to where she ran off to. Otherwise, she just waved over towards Itsuki and sat across from him.} "Aw, geez. Hi Itsuki-kun! I-erm got the time mixed up, sorry about that!"
Eito completely ignores Kazuo, still looking towards Sen as she beats a hasty retreat. "Or you could just ignore the offer, that's also a pretty good option." He shrugs and places the weapon back in it's sheath, patting it lovingly. "You'll find yourself a new home eventually, pal. Just you wait." With that, Eito simply turns around, giving Itsuki and Kazuo a lazy salute before beginning to walk off. "Pleasant meeting you, gentlemen, let's hope we see each other again in the future. If you need me, I'll most likely be lazing around the GYM. Always ready for a practice fight if you need one." He starts to leave, only to pause and look back once more. "Oh, and if either of you meet with our little hero of justice again, tell her the sword's always waiting for her in case she wants to start on her path to actually mattering in this place. Anyways, ciao." And with that, the lunatic casually walks away, humming a pleasant tune all the while.
Itsuki simply shrugs "Haha, you really haven't changed a bit."
[Kazuo decides to ignore Eito, for he is far too much of a crazy dickhead for him to take seriously beyond his abilities. That said, he would clap his hands together.] Since you two know each other, I'll leave you be. Have fun, and apologize to the owner. [Kazuo leaves the place cooly.]
"Oh, that's fine sir, have a nice day!" {Tsubasa says to Kazuo before looking back at Itsuki, pouting just a little bit as a joke.} "Hey, I could say the same for you, you know."
Itsuki chuckles briefly "Yeah, I think it's great how we can still be like this, despite everything that's happened."
{Tsubasa giggles at the thought.} "I think it's great too. Really. It's always nice when some certain things never change."
