Faba Magi Capulus Magicus: A Dreary Afternoon
Within the streets of Tokyo's Shibuya area a small building sits, a sign above its doors written in dark purple reading Faba Magi Capulus Magicus and a smaller one in the window which says open. The entire place is in a word, calm. Quiet and softly lit with an atmosphere that at the moment one could easily fall asleep to without even trying, a fact that's rather aided by the rain pouring down onto the city from above and making gentle sounds beating overhead. A small fireplace burns as well, given the rather chilly weather outside a young girl with black hair sits next to it looking rather worn out while she just leans back in a chair. "Geez, slow day for now but I guess it's to be expected. The morning's over and nobody really wants to come out here on a dull day like this... Already had to send everyone else home early though, not wasting my payroll on no business..." Homura would absently look over a stack of papers while sitting at the table pondering aloud, not as though anyone else is here right now after all. And Madoka apparently had something else to do today so here she sits... That and Madoka may or may not still be in school, only just leaving at most Homura always does lose track of time a bit when she's this bored. Rummaging through figures while listening for the chime of her door's bell. Just hoping to get someone at least a bit interesting here soon isn't a favored hobby, but it's about all she can do for the moment... Also behold what I was listening to while writing this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uq7kyf1T_lk
{Dressed in different outfits, two teens walk through Shibuya, holding hands as they silently listen to music together. The male drearily window shops while the girl happily moves her head from side to side. As soon as the male sees the small building, he doesn't bother trying to warn the girl as his hand holding hers tightens the grip a little.} S: "Hmm, what's wr- woah!" {He drags the girl towards the cafe with him, the girl's earphones almost falling out of ear from the sudden yanking. The boy pushes open the door and both wave to Homura who occupies the cafe by herself. With only one single glance, it wasn't hard to tell who these two were.} S: "Oh, hi, Homura-chan! Where's Madoka?" A: "We came on a whim. Mostly. I said it was a date but we just walked outside."
Homura would laugh a bit at Sonomi's question, where's Madoka. As if the two are never apart. "She's hanging out with someone else, we do have lives outside each other you know. You two want anything right now or just stopped by to chat?" She'd absently begin walking towards the counter, picking up the stack of papers And setting them down behind it while smiling over at both present. "Kind of a strange time for a date though, but I guess I of all people won't judge your taste there. I sorta like this weather honestly, it's calming."
A: "...I guess. It was also a strange time to wear a skirt during this cool and calming weather too." {Asena says, immediately looking at Sonomi wearing her skirts and boots that she could have easily slipped with. There wasn't really much room to talk though since all Asena used to protect himself against the rain was a hood. Sonomi pouted at him as she put her umbrella away.} S: "Hey! All you said before we left was to bring an umbrella. I didn't know it was going to rain!" A: "It's fine, it's fine. But yeah, we didn't want much but to just chat. Was going to walk around more but it's hard to window shop and walk around in pouring rain. Hope that doesn't bother you."
Homura shakes her head and chuckles a bit. "Ah, that's fine Asena yeah. And heh, you could always just try and dodge the rain. I bet it's easy, no need to worry about those ill suited clothes. Not that mine are uh... Much better right now." The girl is actually wearing a small black dress with a dark blue ribbon at it's back, along with a fairly short pair of dark green heels. She actually looks very girlish for a change compared to her generally more combat suited style of dress. "How have you two been doing though?" She'd quickly ask in a attempt to avoid being asked about why exactly she's wearing this outfit.
Though it was a rainy day, that never changed how much work there was to do for the 21 year old with silvery-blue hair that walks through the streets, holding a black umbrella to ward off the water. It was one of her days off, so she had little to occupy herself but some paperwork she had just finished delivering. The woman happens to glance into the cafe where the cutest waitress worked and was blessed to find that, not only were they still there, but the place was practically empty. She silently blesses her luck before closing and bagging her umbrella at the entrance and stepping inside. The woman waits up front for a step before takin’ a seat herself near the middle of the cafe, somewhere very easy to notice.
S: "Woah, is it possible to do that?" {She asked with sparkles in her eyes, while Asena sighs initially before thinking on it by himself. He decides to disregard it as just a joking suggestion and continues on.} A: "We're doing fine, actually. It may be raining today, but other than that we've been refining ourselves in secret every other day." S: "Yep, I kind of have a bit more of a grasp on my powers now! And don't worry, the dress looks really pretty on you." {They both glance behind them at the new arrival, before deciding to sit down as well at some other table. Sonomi in particular strolls by Homura while Asena just picks a random spot and plops down on a chair.} S: "Say, you still have to work, right? Do you think your schedule is open anytime soon?"

Homura would wave to the two as someone else enters her building, though she doesn't depart before saying a few words... And blushing slightly. "I was only joking Sonomi. And that's good, but let's keep em on the down low... Also I know that, I just. Don't normally wear stuff like this so it feels weird... Anyway gotta go!" With that she'd quickly approach the newcomer, smiling at her and speaking in a kind tone while bowing a bit before going on. "Ah, hello and welcome~ What can I start you off with on this fine day Miss?" She'd manage to seem bright and cheery while greeting them despite herself, and why not? At least she's hopefully getting some actual business now right? "And really you picked a great time to come, not hard to see as aren't busy right now so I was getting kinda bored anyways. So thanks!" Homura would giggle a bit at that point, it's kind of nice to be able to consider mere boredom her biggest problem rather than... Anything far more dangerous.
"Ya don't have to be so formal with me. Name's Kokoro Fudoji, but you can call me big sis Kokoro. I'm glad I can keep ya entertained." Kokoro wastes no time starting with a cheery smile and playful introduction, leaning on the table with her head resting on her laced fingers looking at Homura. So far so good "I'll start with an iced caramel latte and a blueberry muffin. But don't leave me lonely for too long ok?"
Homura would blush a bit at that, really? She's pretty informal usually but this is... Like something out of some anime. "Big... Sis? Ummmm if you say so. And I'll take care of that right away for you of course!" She'd dart off to the kitchen in a hurry. Trying rather hard not to ponder too much why the woman is acting like... That. After a few minutes and perhaps abusing just a bit of time magic to speed things along the girl would return with both a very cold caramel latte in one hand and a nearly fresh baked warm blueberry muffin which causes it's delicious scent to drift through the building as Homura places it down with a smile. "Alright there you go m- big sis Kokoro. I hope you enjoy! And um anything else I can help you with?"
Kokoro thanks her lucky stars, no one had actually called her "big sis" before, so her success in that matter came as a pleasant surprise. And made trying all the more worthwhile. "Oooh, cute and handy. I bet you'd make a perfect little wife." Kokoro takes a sip of her latte, observing Homura's reaction before continuing "Cute dress too. You headin' out on a date tonight?" Of course, it was a reasonable response to the attire, especially when one's working in a busy environment like this one where the dress could get ruined any moment, and also a roundabout way to ask if the younger girl was single.
Homura would blush heavily, of course there is... The slight fact that yes she is heading out on a date later actually. This girl is frankly very pretty, and not single or no Homura does actually "I... Actually am yes. I-I'll be honest I'm flattered Kokoro and you're pretty cute too but I've got a girlfriend so um..." She actually sounds intensely awkward while saying that, actually feeling a bit bad about shooting the woman down but at the same time. She isn't really interested in anyone else at the moment so it's best not to lead this woman on any further. "Uh... Sorry if I gave the wrong impression honestly, and even more sorry if I'm reading you completely wrong but this. This really feels like flirting to me and I don't wanna lead you on or anything." She'd stare down at her feet at that point, clearly very not used to much of anyone actually doing this kind of thing about her.
"Oh my god you are too precious." Kokoro crosses her arms as she lets out a hearty laugh. it takes the girl a few seconds to quiet down at which point she has to take a breath to speak again. "Its nothin' to worry about I understand. Young love and all. Just make sure to let me know if anythin's botherin' ya'." Despite having been shot down on that front, the older woman wouldn't really care. Kokoro brings out a small piece of paper with her phone number on it to offer Homura "If it means I'll getta hear your cute voice again your Big Sis Kokoro would be glad to handle it."
The girl still blushes a bit, but at least she... Sort of knows the flirting isn't too serious now, the thought that wouldn't entirely mind it being more so is quickly banished no matter how good looking this woman is. "Haha, thanks. You seem pretty cool I guess so I'll keep that in mind... That and I probably actually would have said yes if I were single." Which is a strange though to ponder, and likely never going to be relevant but she can't deny that it's accurate. Though Homura would after a bit start to head back towards the other two. "Anyways see you... Well pretty soon most likely and feel free to lemme know if you need anything else~" With a slight wink she'd return to the other pair's table and just stare at them slightly before speaking in a quiet voice. "Huh, strange day now. Not bad at all, just strange."
S: "Oooo, I overheard you talking about a date! That's so cute." A: "And also a bit of a wrench in our plans, Sonomi." {Asena sighed out as he tapped the table for a second. He put his hand on his chin and pondered as he looked up at the ceiling before Sonomi covered Asena from Homura's view in nervous reflex.} S: "Right, we were supposed to ask if you and Madoka would be free at all to do something." {When Sonomi sat back down in her seat, Asena would now be female, smiling at Homura. At least, not before looking around for a bit being slightly confused with where she ended up. Sonomi had to tap her on the shoulder and whisper something to her before she could get it.} A: "Yup! We were going to go to an airport and were about to ask if you would come?...can you? Well, you have a date so..."
“I’ll be sure ya call for ya’ cutie. May think about bein’ a regular.” Kokoro grins as Homura walks off. This was honestly the longest any of these exchanges had gone on in a while. ‘Course they may have just been polite but she’d probably find out pretty soon if the other girl actually called her. For now, Kokoro remains seated, listening to the others as she works on eating her order
I refuse to use more than one account in a thread, but have always meant to have some of my other characters in here sometime. besides Madoka, so here goes I guess. Homura would just sigh a bit at the pair and frown slightly, shaking her head a bit at that. "I can't say we planned on that no, we were actually gonna go over to Destinyland tonight. Kind of been a while since we've been there... Just be careful okay you two. But I don't want to cancel this on Madoka." As Homura chats someone else would evetually wander into the cafe, a young woman who judging by her look is both entirely too capable of looking good while banged up from a fight. And very banged up from a fight, shockingly dry though, somehow. The black-haired girl just sighs a bit and stares at her for a moment, not even asking what this one wants before going off to fetch it. ?: "Aw geez, am I really coming in here so much that she's started to know my usual...? Eh that's fine, not like I can't afford it." She appears to have straight brown hair down to her shoulders, with soft facial features and dressed in a pair of tight jeans and a slightly lowcut pink t-shirt. She'd also absently wave to Asena having met them before, but as for the others present... Eh what the hell, she'd walk up to Kokoro with a wave. A:"Yo! You come here often like I've started, or just now finding the place? Name's Akia Sato by the way, nice meeting ya maybe. Though lemme know if you don't feel like talking or anything, I just like meeting people so why not try right?" Homura herself would absently come by and hand the woman a mug full of piping hot black coffee that Akia just slugs down a bit of without a second thought. H: "... Still don't know how you drink that stuff so hot but it's kind of impressive, anyways good afternoon Akia. Please don't bug anyone." Judging by the teasing tone Homura speaks in with that remark, it's fairly obvious she doesn't actually expect the apparently regular patron to be a bother. A: "Pff, I'm totally not bothersome. Unless someone wants to be bothered~" She'd direct that at Kokoro with a slight wink.
OOC: eh, I’ve done similar with the twins so it’s not a big deal. “I’ve walked by a few times before but this is my first time actually comin’ in.” Kokoro holds a more business-like attitude with one of her peers than when flirting with the younger girl. This Akia looks like she’s used to a tussle though so Kokoro can be a little more casual “Name’s Kokoro Fudoji, but just call me Kokoro. Not that I think there’ll be a problem. Ya seem like the more casual type.” The girl carefully watches Homura and Akia exchange. It was pretty clear the two were friends, but probably not much more. Still, she straightens up a bit noticing Akia’s own attempt to flirt “I don’t think we’ve gotta worry about that. Yer hardly a bother at all.” Simply brushing off the other girl’s efforts. After all she knew from experience that what they’re wanting was a reaction.
Akia laughs a bit at that, well could be worse... Though, the coffee does need a bit of something. And she doesn't care enough to try and hide it so meh. The woman would smirk slightly while what smells like a bit of bourbon absently forms in her hand and mixes into the drink. "Hah, yeah casual about sums me up unless I gotta do serious work Kokoro. And this is my offtime so I ain't about to waste time on that. Well, you aren't wanted dead or alive by the state are you?" She'd snicker slightly at that, as if any outlaw would answer honestly to such a question anyway. No Akia's clearly joking and not expecting a serious response.
S: "Pft, don't worry about it Homura-chan! It's alright, we all have our lives to live. I wish I could live mine in Destinyland to be honest. Nevertheless, you have fun at Destinyland, this airport probably doesn't have anything important at all!...Asena why are we going again?" A: "Beats me. I just got interested. You did too. Maybe we're getting high off something. Speaking of getting high..." {Asena waves back to Akia and than snickering a bit when she seemingly gets turned down by the older girl a bit. She looks at everyone else with her eyes closed and smirking so as to analyze everyone. Even Homura, but just to appreciate how pretty she looked.} A: "I actually know the girl over there. She can come join us. I'd be satisfied with just her but I want to see what that other girl might have. Though I doubt she'd show anything in a cafe of all places."
... A: "Ok, I'm bored. Might as well start now." S: "Yeah I kind of agree, let's go." {They both got up from their seat and each headed over towards two different people. One would head over towards Akia and get her best happy go lucky voice ready, even going starry-eyed at the mere sight of her despite not knowing the woman at all. Sonomi skips over to the lady drinking coffee.} S: "Excuse me miss, we're going to an airport, don't ask why! Would you like to come with us?" {Meanwhile Asena, almost snickering as she goes by Sonomi and listens to her inquiring with Akia, goes over to Homura and looks at her with a slightly dreary gaze. She clears her throat before casually speaking out towards the other older girl running the cafe.} A: "...Do you know about finances? How do you turn net worth into real money? Sonomi wanted to know."
Homura would sigh a little bit and stare at Asena blankly. H: "I... Kind of do actually, someone had to figure it out between Madoka and I so here we are. I don't have time to go over all that right now but call me later and I'll help you out with some things. Sonomi has my number." Akia would stare at the kid with a confused look for a moment, before absently shotgunning the rest of her coffee and burbon without skipping another beat. A: "I won't ask why, but I will ask what I'm being offered as payment for this girly. I mean I assume this is a job right, otherwise why are you talking to someone like me? Also I am gonna have some questions but not right now." It's a shame, she almost wanted to see how things would go here but ah well. Maybe this'll be a chance to really cut loose...
{Asena's voice instantly raises a bit in volume, so as to show her satisfaction even more. Though her eyes barely change, her smile grows. The girl pulls out her phone by the mention of Sonomi having Homura's phone number.} A: "Wow, That's great! While you're at it, can I have it too? Considering how your patron is already asking money from us, we might as well learn it while we go on this expedition to the airport." {Once Akia starts to talk business with her, Sonomi's eyes dim down a little and her expression changes to disappointed. Though, overhearing how Asena's talk is going, she shakes her head and keeps up her act.} S: "Have you ever heard of this wonderful thing called internet worth? Me and my girlfriend have a bunch of it, we can pay you in that once we figure out how to convert it to cash. That's fine, right?"
Casual indeed. Can’t really imagine someone showing off some witchcraft like that. Not that it really matters anyways. She’s fine just ignoring it and answering Akia’s question. “Nothin’ excitin’ like that. I just work as a department manager while I’m takin’ a break from college. Gettin’ my life sorted and all.” Kokoro notices the... Other cute girl walking up to talk to Akia and chuckles “Really popular with the cute ones aren’t ya’?” She wasn’t gonna go offering herself, but Kokoro’s always had a bit of a weakness for younger girls.
S: "O-oh, thanks, I-erm, uhm I appreciate the compliment, miss, I-" {Sonomi was about to stammer on while being red like a velvet carpet but instead she felt a tug at her sleeve. Asena instantly dragged her back and sat her on the chair she was previously on next to Homura.} A: "...you going or not?"
Akia would tilt her head a bit at that. A: "Hmm... Cuteness isn't really my main interest, I'm a drunken fool much of the time no doubt about it but no not really into that too much." She isn't going to imply anything more than she already has, but it's not exactly hard to see what the woman is batting at either. That being said, she has things to do she guesses. A: "Yeah speaking of going, I need ta know if this is a paying job or not before I agree ta go anywhere. Just business to me kids." Homura would stare up at the Inscribed a bit curiously, she's well aware of... Okay not well, but she knows Akia isn't quite as harmless as one might think at first glance. That should do fine enough. H: "Just go with them, if anything that actually needs you to work comes up talk to me about it later. Akia just smirks a bit and nods at that, absently walking over towards the door while waving at Homura. And waiting on the kids she guesses. As for Homura, she'd speak to the two in a curious tone. H: "Somehow I think I'm gonna end up having to pay her... I wonder though if it could have anything to do with those ruins from a while back? Ah well, just get on with it I guess if you want, I don't think Akia is a lover of waiting." Judging by the way she seems to be tapping her foot while the black-haired girl gestures towards the door, that guess looks fairly apt as well.
A: "I wouldn't really know myself. It's just some premonition that came to us randomly. See you around though." {Asena casually waves to Homura and leaves the cafe, putting on her hood to protect herself against the rain. As she did so, she changed to a male and looked back at Sonomi with a bit of a tired glare just to persuade her faster.} S: "Oh, thank you so much, Homura-chan! I promise that we won't do anything reckless. If anything, I hope none of us get hurt at the very least!" {Sonomi would hug her friend, but instead she leaves a tip on the table and giggles, waving back towards her. It was approximately 40 dollars in japanese yen, even though the two never paid for anything.} S: "Hope you have fun on your date, bye for now!" {Sonomi leaves out the doorway and takes her umbrella, opening it quickly and going out the rain, somehow not slipping as she grabbed Asena by the hand and went to the airport.}
"Aww, is that really what ya think of me? I just love their adorable lil' reactions is all." Kokoro giggles as Sonomi is brought away, stuttering and blushing. A perfect example of what she meant. Still, she'd look back to Akia "Well I reckon' ya should get goin' now. Was nice meetin' ya Akia. yer an.. Interestin' one to say the least."
Akia would shrug a bit, absently reaching into her pockets and pulling out a slightly wet umbrella kept in a plastic bag, she just smiles sernely at Kokoro at this point. A: "Hmm, I mean that's fair to some extent I gues... Not for me but eh whatever, I'm not one to worry about what people do unless someone's getting hurt and I don't got any reason ta think quite that yet. Anyway, this night is gonna be long I think. So come on kids, if ya need anything drowned in booze I'm your girl." Speaking of drowning in booze, the girl smiles as magical energy builds up in her free hand, taking shape as a full bottle of whiskey that the bounty hunter would take an absent swig from. Homura would shake her head while watching them leave. H: "... If I hadn't seen her fight, I'd think Akia's just crazy honestly. She is crazy though, just also capable of backing herself up to some extent." The cafe's owner would just lean against the counter at that point, absently pondering something with closed eyes while she listens for Kokoro's voice.
"Honestly, I think you've gotta be crazy ta look for a fight like that. Or at least crazy mad." Kokoro lets out a sigh watching the other three go. Wasn't really her problem anyways. Still, the woman almost seems a little disappointed. At least they let out an uncharacteristically somber sigh "Guess ya could say the whole world's gone crazy though. No one to blame for it either. Still, as long as they're followin' their ego, they're doin' the right thing. 'Least that's how I feel."
Homura would shrug at that, speaking a bit wistfully to the slightly older woman. "The world's gone crazy? Nah, world was always crazy it just... Used to be better hidden I think. Now the crazy keeps on getting more visible and easier to spot. Now people who can run around summoning false images of gods and demons are an everyday thing, guys pull out video game cartridges and use them to summon forth hyper powerful weapons and armor yada yada right?" She'd chuckle a bit before taking a sip from a cup of her own coffee, something which seems to have cream and sugar in it. Along with going on in an even more downbeat tone... "But heck, even before all this my life was a madhouse. And the worst part is despite not really liking it, I can't say I'd be better off without it. Probably am a lot better off here than I would be back home..."
"I see.." Kokoro takes a moment to drink her own iced coffee, taking a bite out of her muffin that'd long gone cold. There's a brief, awkward silence before Kokoro adds her own sentiments "It doesn't really make a difference to me. I mean, my life's hardly changed anyways. So long as you've got something to move towards, the tears you've shed are not in vain." Kokoro gives a self-satisfied chuckle before explaining "I'm paraphrasin' there. Anyways, I think you're doin' just fine kid. Just try not to pressure yerself too much. I get the idea ya've probably got a lot goin' on yerself. But that just makes it more important to love yerself."
The girl would chuckle a little bit at that and crack a slight smile. "Well, I guess I do have that at least. At the end of the day I'm for all intents a teenage runaway who somehow managed to make a living too, so I'm pretty dang lucky when I really think about it." She'd glance at the time, not much longer before closing really but eh Homura won't kick anyone out till then. Least of all when she's sort of enjoying their presence. "I do try not to pressure myself too much, but it's not like anyone else is gonna take care of us either. So it is what it is, but you're right about loving oneself. I always have been better at loving someone else though, but I get what you mean too. And hey, at least I don't gotta go to catholic school anymore, lemme tell ya that did a number on the whole loving myself thing for a while." It's obvious that the joke isn't... Entirely just a joke, there's pain there but from what can be seen anyways pain that the girl really is better off just making light of with a slight smirk as she's done now.
"No parents around eh? Well, it might not be much but if ya ever do need help don't be afraid to call yer big sis. Though it looks like yer doin' better than me right now." Kokoro grins as she finishes her muffin, looking at the time it seemed she wasn't gonna be lookin' fer much else, but that was fine too. Was nice just gettin' to know someone. Though when Homura talks about loving someone else its like a lightbulb goes off "Ah right, you're goin' on a date tonight aren't ya? I shouldn't keep ya here too long then. Just try to take what I said to heart. I may not have had to deal with catholics but I was still yer age not too long ago. You look like you'll do fine, and whoever the lucky guy is will treat ya well. And if not well." Kokoro strikes her open palm with a fist before cracking her knuckles. "Ya can call yer big sis for that too hehe."
The girl would chuckle a bit, guy. Hah. "Heh, yeah it is worth pondering I think. Please drop by again sometime, I honestly have enjoyed speaking with you... Oh and uh, lucky girl actually. We've been together for... Almost three years now? I wouldn't worry at all about her doing anything wrong to me." They're long gone by now, god only knows what brought her thoughts towards those two she barely interacted with much to begin with. After taking a bit to get everything ready, she'd absently walk outside and wait for Kokoro to head out before locking the door. "Anyways, that's enough of my musing for the moment. I do indeed have places to be tonight after all. See ya around sometime 'big sis'" With the store properly closed for the moment, Homura would simply wait a few moments before absent walk off down the streets to her meeting.
"Oh really? Well if they're even half as cute as you ya've gotta introduce me some time." Kokoro chuckles as she heads out the door, nodding to Homura as she takes her own umbrella back out to guard from the rain. Regardless of Homura's answer to Kokoro's little proposal the older girl would give her a friendly wave as she heads back home. "Good luck on your date!"
