Tokyo's Central Metropolitan Library
[There is a massive public library somewhere around the neighboring ward of of Shibuya, Minato. Kazuo had spent his evening there, studying all types of books. He had been researching mythology and urban legends saved in written form. Even if those were fictional, that which seemed to be fantasy could also come into reality or be based in something bigger. As such, he liked looking into it. However, at the moment he seemed to have shifted into romance novels.] "These writers...none of this dialogue seems realistic somehow. Who even says this kind of stuff...?" [He couldn't understand. He wanted some more insight into "love" and romance, but this wasn't doing it for him.] "Maybe... if I tried looking into the science of it...?" [He would keep reading another "romance" novel, something about a princess and a bride.] "...This one is weird, but the dialogue is fantastic."
A shadow passes over Kazuo as the grey-haired woman sneaks atop the bookshelves, scoping out the facility. The building was rather large, and filled with strange blocks Red had seen some of her compatriats holding, but she didn't understand what they were for. Only that many people seemed interested in them. For now, Red watches the library-goers below, her tail slowly shifting as she does.
"Ah." [He would notice the shadow pass him by, but would take a bit before properly reacting to it. He would look around, finding nothing at first. He would close the book and try looking up. He would recognize the weird one fast.] "Is that you, Wolfy?"
{The girl hums to herself a happy tone...up until she walks into the library where all the people she doesn't know how to communicate with walks around, making her feel uncomfortable around the atmosphere. As always, her glasses cover up her eyes, anyone seeing her face would only met with opaque swirls where the eyes were supposed to be seen.} "Eeeee...too many people..." {She shuffles around, tugging at her short black dress and messing with her braids a bit. When she sees that familiar face, she sighs in relief and relaxes her posture, walking up to the man reading the book as she covers her face with that one book she always carries around.} "O-oh, hello there...I d-didn't really expect to see y-you."
"Lupus. Not wolf." Comes the reply as Red silently drops beside Kazuo, one hand hidden beneath her coat, little more than a precaution, though the younger man might remember how quickly she could draw those daggers of hers "Is this your facility?" Red had noticed Kazuo seeming safe, if somewhat uncomfortable in the facility, so they were likely aware of its purpose. That's when Red notices another individual, one they had never met before but seemed to know Kazuo? They apparently weren't armed, so red doesn't draw her weapon yet. however, the Lupus is still noticably on edge

[Kazuo would rub the back of his head while nodding at her reply.] "Lupus, not wolf. Sorry to say but this place isn't mine. As far as I know, it belongs to the government." [Kazuo would cross his arms, thinking of something to ask, such as why she would infiltrate, but then he would see a girl he hadn't seen in a long time. He would smile and make a short, gentle wave.] "Novella, right? Yeah, it's been quite some time. What brings you here?"
{She put the book down and meekly waved back, inserting her way in beside him and looking at Red. Being near her made her posture tense up slightly more, but she still spoke as hesitantly as she always did.} "Mhmm. W-what brought me here? I g-guess that I just um, wanted to look into more sources of literature and all. L-like the one you're reading right now. I h-haven't actually seen any of those in a long time..." {Novella would give a bunch of worried side-glances as she peaks at Kazuo's book about a princess and a bride. Kazuo would usually take this as how she normally acted, but Red would actually see a teal gleam in the girl's eyes as she gave a deadpan glare through the seemingly opaque lenses of her glasses.} "Hey, miss...are you also a friend of Kazuo's? It's nice to meet you..."
"government? Right... There are a lot of those." Red pauses momentarily, as if even that simple idea was enough to get her stuck, only to shake her head once more, as if just getting over the concept. The woman seems to relax a little, before noticing Novella's glare out of the corner of her eye. "Friend?" The wolf-girl asks as her hand finally comes out of her coat, a simple signal towards feeling safe. Still, the concept almost seems foreign to her. "Red hunts alone. Doesn't have friends. Is it important to have friends?"
"Some people may say friends are important to have. I'm neutral on that idea." [Kazuo shrugs, not putting too much weight on the idea anymore, at least for the moment.] "Besides, we just met. You can never call someone you just met a friend. Friends...trust each other and stay together when you want to relax but also when things get bad." [Kazuo would point at one pile of books he had near him.] "That's what they keep saying in those though. Even so, the romance novels aren't really...the best places to learn from when it comes to understanding people."
"O-oh, it's fine, I don't really...uhm...go outside much, so I-I'm not too experienced on the subject..." {Of course the wolf girl would say some shit like that...the girl sighs feeling a bit gloomy. Novella shot another glare through her glasses before adjusting them to make her eyes hidden once more.} "I'm sorry, I didn't know you t-two, just met. I-it was stupid of me to ask..." {Instantly she started to settling back into her usual self, where she doesn't have any backbone to speak of. At the mention of novels, she instantly turns her head towards the pile of books near him and scanned through most of them.} "Oh, you're trying to read romance novels now? I-if you don't mind me asking, a-are you reading them because you...uhm...met somebody y-you want to understand...more i-intimately?..."
(edited by Pers31)
"I see. Friends aren't important then. Red has worked without friends." Comes the wolf's reply. She can't help but shudder a little, feeling something strange when Pers glares at her, but she can't quite seem to identify it, which only makes her more nervous. Red takes a few steps away before adding "I will continue the mission." and climbing up the shelves in a flash, leaving not a single book disturbed as the hunter goes back to prowling the library, seeking the purpose of this bizarre government construct. at least until she's inevitably caught
[Kazuo would blush and rub the back of his head, trying to look anywhere else if possible.] "Something like that. I don't really have any experience with this so... I wouldn't know if I just care a lot about her as a friend or if I have, you know, feelings. I couldn't tell." [It could also be just getting too close with a girl. He wasn't used to such experiences, so he wouldn't know how to react, and he already doesn't know how to react. Besides, he can't just go and ask Yuriko about all this. He would then see Lupus move away as quickly as Novella came closer. He felt confused but then again, she was weirder than normal.] "Uh... see ya Lupus. In a few days I suppose!" [He would sigh before looking back at the girl with the glasses.] "You wouldn't know anything about romance, right? You don't look like the type that dates a lot."
{The girl's glasses flashed another shade of teal, revealing her uncharacteristically blue eyes for a small fraction of a second before she waves at the wolf girl.} "B-bye, have a great time." {The girl says to Lupus as she leaves. Instantly she acts more coy towards the situation, smiling the tiniest bit when she sees Kazuo blush when asked about the subject. Novella even almost felt the small urge to giggle when seeing him act this way, but she saves it for another day as she fidgets around with her book.} "O-oh, n-no, I've never actually...dated. I-I don't know, I-I just feel a bit...young for that type of stuff." She walks by Kazuo and now physically checks the books he was reading, skimming all over it. The pages flipped swiftly, and she almost dropped her glasses as if wind blew on her face. FInally, she sets the last one down and looks back at Kazuo.} "Though I will say, most of these novels always follow some type of formula. An abundance of tropes, from what I could see from reading a bit over it. Slight variations that make it different from the rest, but many similarities can still be spotted. With books, it comes down to preference, but this is real life. What can you tell about this girl's...personality?"
Asami arrives freshly on the scene, glancing pensively as the lupus retreats, only catching the last few of her remarks. "Geez, Kazuo, what'd you tell her to give her that idea?" She plays with her hair, giggling a little before facing between the two, a confidant smirk replacing her serene smile as the topic of romance was brought. "Romance, huh? I happen to be an expert myself."
[He would patiently wait for Novella to finish the books and then would listen to her before replying. He would start to get embarrassed again as he fidgets with his hat.] "You see, she's...a bit-" [He would then notice Asami of all people approaching him. Not that he was surprised, she was always around, just like Apollo. He would cross his arms and curiously look down at her.] "...Are you? You seem a bit too young for it."
{The girl looks at Kazuo, nodding her head up and down as if she was really expecting very valuable information from him.} "Mhmm, mhmm! Go on, you're doing gr-" {The girl side glances at Asami. Past her glasses, she gives a straight deadpan glare, her dull, indigo eyes piercing through the lenses of her glasses. Without a moment's hesitation, she tilts her head, putting her hand under her chin as she now focuses all her attention on Asami, expecting something from her this time.} "Ah, you two seem to have met. Tell us, what do you know about romance?"
"Well, uh..." Asami awkwardly scratches her chin, blushing slightly in response to Kazuo's question. "No, not exactly. I just watch a lot of television." Her evanscent smile would make Novella feel more at ease, the overwhelming honesty evident in her tone. "The most important thing about romance is... never giving up! And always believing in yourself!" Determination flares up in her eyes as she pounds a fist into the air, the aeshops touching the hearts of listeners despite whether they think the words cliche or nonsensical, perhaps as a mental side effect of the speaker's aluring glow.
"..." [Kazuo would be... unimpressed with what Asami would bring to the table. She was young indeed, or the TV was still being as it always is when it comes to romance. There is no point if they were already destined to be together.] "Thank you Asami. At the very least, I appreciate your enthusiasm." [He would try to smile as he pats her head.]
{Novella smiles blankly as she listens to the girl put in her own efforts, nodding her head as she speaks.} "Ah, pure and wholesome. You did your best, Asami..." {She laughs to herself and tilts her head to the other side. In fact, she tilts it to the side so much so she goes on the verge of breaking her own neck. But she doesn't really seem to care as she makes it pop back into place in an instant. Novella looks back at the two with very different gazes. One would be nervous, for Kazuo. The other for Asami, would simply be, bored.} "S-so, Kazuo, since...Asami, gave us w-wonderful a-advice, would y-you like her to be involved in our erm...conversation?"
"Huh? Yeah, I don't see why not." [Kazuo managed to pick up in her sudden shifts at that moment. He didn't know if it was normal for her, but he just assumed it may be a quirk. Before saying anything else however, he figured he should go forward with his question.] "Novella, may I have your phone number? I don't think I asked back then."
Asami would appear offended, taking an aggressive step towards Novella. "You're making fun of me, aren't you!?" She would bear a much more intimidating attitude, despite her young age.
"O-oh, sure Kazuo. I-I don't really see why no-" {The girl was about to take her pocket phone out before her gaze met Asami's. She stopped dead in her tracks, breathing out a sigh. It didn't take long before she turned her head and looked at the young girl with an equally intimidating stare. What was unnerving weren't really the eyes piercing through the glasses, but the fact that the girl's head was turned a complete 180 that was perfectly calculated for Kazuo to see the back of Novella's head.} "Hmm? Why would I make fun of a friend? You're funny..." {Her body turns slowly by itself, as if it lagged behind to readjust with where her head was positioned. She started to speak even more deadpan, as if a second voice trailed behind Novella's own, an echo, so to speak.} "I love making friends...Wouldn't you want to be friends with me, Miss Asami?" {Fact of the matter was that even though Kazuo was standing right in front of Novella, and Asami could clearly see him staring at Novella contort her body to look at her, Kazuo himself wouldn't really see anything out of the ordinary with the girl anymore. Kazuo's eyes would only percieve this as the girl normally turning around, tilting her head at the girl to show confusion.}
[Kazuo would suddenly sneeze and feel his body getting colder. At that time, his red flags were all going up. The problem was, of course, he didn't know why.] "Geez, did it suddenly get colder here or..." [It couldn't be, Asami was there after all.] "You girls okay? I'm worried I may have caught something on my way here."
Gad would arrive in the library looking perfectly passive for once. It seems that for once this was where he intended to go. "Seems it's letting me go where I want today. Ok, shouldn't waste too much time...Really though, he spends a lot of time in libraries." He'd look around for a while until finally stumbling upon where Kazuo was. He thought to approach him but could see he was busy right now. Also, it seemed he was a bit conflicted. For once his expression was tense, something unusual for the usually lax teenager. He seemed to be thinking hard about something, so hard he would just awkwardly stand a few feet away from the group in plain view for anyone who noticed him.
Asami would tense up for a little before simply sighing, backing away and craning her neck to notice Gad. She turns to face him and approaches. "Ah, and what's a cute boy like yourself doing somewhere like this?" She would wink, her girlish charm almost as evanescent as her bright glow, the divine aura obvious to Gad.
{The girl's eyes travel and follow Asami as she leaves, nodding and giving herself satisfaction as she nods and looks back at Kazuo, her glasses covering her eyes and stuttering voice coming back to her.} "Y-y-you know what, Kazuo? I feel like it's erm, getting a bit late, you know? I might not know what this girl even is like, b-but I can p-promise you this!" {She takes out a book from a random shelf, not even bothering to look at it, as if it was there the whole time. It'd be a visual novel in the form of a manga. The cover would show 5 schoolgirls near some steps. The title would be, School Days. Novella gives it to Kazuo in an instant, taking his arm and putting the book in his hands for him.} "H-hey, it may not look like much, b-but t-trust me, it will h-help out a lot! Give it a read! My phone number is even inside one of the pages, but you have to find it..."" {With that, the girl turns around, merely glancing at Kaz as she starts to head for the exit door, but turns around and walks back up to him, giving him the same glare she'd been giving everyone else.} "And maybe you'll learn not to be such a bitch about your feelings next time, fucking pussy-ass wanker." {The girl says to him as her voice starts changing. She holds the book close to her chest, and purple rings surround the girl. Her short black dress was replaced by an oversized coat, being held with a disembodied eye making it look vaguely like a cape. Her hair transformed from two black braids to long, messy blue hair. And finally, the girl looked at him from her glasses so he could clearly see that Novella was in fact Sana, who gave him the most agitated glare she could muster.} "Don't worry about what happened today. Novella probably would've acted the same way if she met you here. So long, cunt." {With that, she finally leaves, almost waving the boy goodbye before she just settled with a middle finger.}
[Kazuo, at this point, feels extremely annoyed. He knew what School Days was, and he also knew that he had no interest in getting the phone number of this weirdo. Even so, a chill runs down his spine.] "Sana, I swear to-" [It hits him. She has been stalking him.] "STOP STALKING ME YOU-!" [He was flustered indeed, but the people from the library would tell him to shut up right away. Kazuo would sigh and sit down, hiding his face with his hat.] "You creeper." [He would then hit his head against the table, frustrated.] "How am I going to figure out how I feel about Sen now...?"
Gad would be caught off guard by the girl's sudden aura...and her sudden approach. He would mutter under his breath for a moment, almost just asking why his luck was suddenly doing this if it was. He'd try to calm down before speaking once more. "Sorry, but I need to speak with Kazuo actually. I just, wasn't sure how to aproach the topic of what I wanted to say..."
"Hmm..." Asami's mouth would fall open for awhile, her eyes wide open as if she was processing something. "Well, if it's something you're unsure of, you should just let me tell him for you. If you get him to be any wierder than he already is, I may just have to punish you!" She would smile sadistically, a light chuckle following suit.
Sen had been trying to study in peace, mostly looking into the library's massive collection of legal books and cases, when she suddenly heard a loud shout. Slightly annoyed and ever the strict one, Sen sat at her table for a few moments, considering whether or not to investigate, before finally shutting her book with a sigh and bringing the thick, black, leather tome with her. And when the girl finally arrives, she finds a scene she hadn't quite expected, with Kazuo and Gad, the two she'd gone treasure hunting with earlier, talking to Asami as well. Sen wasn't really sure how to react at first, but eventually she'd speak up "Excuse me.. Am I, interrupting something? I thought I heard a shout..."
"You're divine I guess so maybe you'd know..." Gad would hesitate for a moment, as if he wasn't sure if he should really ask her. "Let's just say I can smell conflict from a mile away. On top of that I can actually tell what someone's chances are just from looking at them... Kazuo is involved in something dangerous...At least that's what I think. Mortals really shouldn't poke too many bears with sticks. Maybe I'm not one to talk but..." He'd stop himself from rambling any further, just looking towards Asami now. He knew the girl was trying to mess with him but the golden glow in his own eyes were starting to turn to crimson flames. "So, is it true? Has Kazuo been messing with forces that stretch beyond mortal-kind?"
[Kazuo would hear the familiar voice. He would slowly lift his head from the table and look up to find Sen of all people, right there. He would almost believe Gad was near if this was luck's doing.] "H-Hey Sen, uh. No shouting! None at all, so don't worry!" [He would laugh as he tries to turn the romance novels he had be reading around, putting the occult and mythology books on top of them. After that, he would cross his arms and look elsewhere.] "You uh, didn't hear anything of what I said, right?"
"That's actually exactly why I'm here." Sen crosses her arms, holding her large, dark text close to her chest, and narrows her eyes. She knew she heard something from a fair distance across the library, and Kazuo just denying it even happened only makes him seem more suspicious. "I thought I heard someone shouting and wanted to be sure the situation was under control. You're sure you didn't hear anything?"
"I..." Asami had appeared nervous and baffled, being unsure how to respond to Gad. "I don't know. I know there's some bad stuff going on, but, I don't think I can do anything about that. It's really scary." She looks to the ground, a depressed air about the way she anxiously glances over patterns in the floor. "Hey, can I ask you something?" Her head tilts up so that her eyes meet Gad's "You don't think i'm weird, do you?"
Gad would take a moment to calm down for now. It seemed despite her divine aura she was still young. He wanted to be careful but maybe he was a little too tense. "Compared to some people I've worked with you don't seem that weird. Ever met a dragon whose also a CEO of a company? I knew they were greedy but-" He wouldn't even bother finishing that though, otherwise he felt he might start rambling again. "Nevermind, point is I'm probably the weirdest one here even though I don't want to admit it."
[Kazuo would take off his hat and look everywhere else. Making sure there was no one watching, he would actually try to get closer to the girl, already way more self-aware of what he did before.] "Y-You see, there is this girl, Sana. She's 17, blue hair, always wears this oversized jacket, kinda cute... thing is, she's stalking me." [He would cover his mouth with the hat.] "So she disguised herself as this other girl I know named Novella and kept scaring away anyone that got near me, so when she revealed herself as, well, Sana, she told me to get my feelings in place and went away." [He would uncover his mouth and make a gesture with his arm while holding his hat, almost like he was throwing it.] "And I got a bit, shocked and taken aback so I just shouted uhm...stop stalking me." [He would leave the hat on the table and rub his nose with his left thumb.] "...So yeah."
"Wait, so you think your stalker is cute?" Sen raises an eyebrow, its a bit of a mixed message being sent, for sure, but for now.. Sen would rather give him the benefit of the doubt. The girl shifts her book to hold it beneath her right arm before advising her.. Senior "If she's going so far as to mess with other people you can try getting a restraining order. This is the exact sort of situation they're meant for and if nothing else it gives you an excuse to get away."
Asami giggles, her prior dismal expression fading. "Y-you're really silly, mister. Thank you, I feel at least a little better know." She becomes more comfortable, glancing over at any interesting nearby book tiles while moving to Gad's side, stopping to make sure he was alright with her getting closer.
"She's traditionally attractive, I just don't feel like describing her face, because she also creeps me out." [He would sigh and quietly consider Sen's idea to get a restraining order. But, although in theory it could work, this is not a normal person he's dealing, and clearly not someone sane.] "That's...the thing. She has powers, you see? Even if I did that, she would ignore it and even if I called the cops, chances are she would take them out or outright escape." [He anxiously taps the table with his index finger.] "Y-You know, the usual issue."
Gad wouldn't protest with much aside from sighing. What was he going to do, reel back? No reason to seem like a bigger weirdo than he already admitted to being. That being said he wasn't sure what to do next, he needed to talk to Kazuo still but he didn't want to seem rude either. "A lot of people in the library today..."
"Right, of course..." Sen looks down with a sigh. Truth was she was out of her element, had been for a while, and it seemed as if there was nothing she could do about it. Still, the girl had simply wanted to help, in any way she could. Still, it was a bit concerning that he didn't want to consider doing something the right way for once. "I just don't think it can hurt. Surely they have to have some sense of....." Sen stops herself once more. There wasn't really any point in talking about them like that anyways. And in the end it was going to have to be Kazuo's decision. At this point Sen didn't really know how or what she would do with it anyways. "Nevermind. Just.. Try to control yourself." with her business done, Sen would finally head on her way, No need to waste further time, anyhow.
"Hu-Wait, already...?" [He would shake his head and stand straight.] "I forgot to ask you something last time we talked."
Sen briefly turns around letting out an irritated sigh "First you grab my arm and now this? Am I just not allowed to turn around?" Still, the girl pauses in the middle of the aisle and asks "What is it this time?"
"Is there someone you like?" [He would cross his arms as he asks. His expression outright serious.] "You told me not to trust her, but Kokoro threatened me about not breaking your heart or something. She seemed very genuine."
"Sounds like someone needs another lecture. Kokoro's definitely not getting away with this one." Sen gives a cold glance off to her side, careful to avoid looking directly at Kazuya, instead seeing her imagined foe off in the distance. Denying it clearly wasn't going to make the question go away so she gives a quick stock answer instead. "I love and respect my father for everything he does, but I wouldn't say I have particularly strong feelings for anyone else. No matter what my senior may tell you." Sen wasn't really ready to pursue any kind of relationship yet, between everything she had busying herself after school and her great involvement within. For the time being, she simply preferred to avoid those kind of questions, silencing her heart whenever necessary to move forward. In pursuit of justice, in their own way. "Now, if that's all I think I'll be leaving now." This time Sen doesn't give Kazuo a chance to reply before she's gone, heading home for yet another long night.
Kazuya?? [Kazuo would take a deep breath as he returns the hat to his head.] "That probably would've gone way better. Ah, well." [He can't always allow himself to be casual, he loses focus too easily and then ends up in embarrassing situations such as this. Regardless, he had gotten his answer, and as such, he begins to make his way out of the place.] "Now I can stop thinking about the possibility." [In the end, it meant less stress for when he had to face off against gods alone.]
Kazuo = surprise or disapointment Kazuya = agreement "Ah, really? In that case, I better make sure Kazzie doesn't get lost." The girl would attempt to hold Gad's hand and casually walk in Kazuo's direction
