Serene Inokashira
In the midst of the park next to a tree stood a young man wearing a brown fedora, coat, gray loafers and a pair of business casual light brown pants. He had an alluring air about him, possessing facial features of a somewhat handsome englishman and a moderate stature. Those who came into earshot of him would instantly mellow out regardless of whatever they were feeling before or currently saying. They may not attribute this cause to him, but whenever they talked to him they would take an appreciative tone anyway. Looking up at the sky, he smiles.
"Hehehe.. Man, the people here sure are relaxed." A shorter young woman comments as she passes through the park. Despite their cheerful manner and wide smile, they have an almost crazed look in their eyes. The woman wears a long, black coat that goes past her far too short black shorts, a simple outfit whose sense of order contrasts with the woman's long, wild, hairstyle. The woman doesn't seem to be hiding anything, leaving wolf-like ears and a tail visible for anyone who looks closely enough. For now, they breathe out a sigh of relief as they walk through the park, passing by the young man without a care in the world.
The man briefly glances over the young woman, noticing her ears out of the corner of his eye. He approaches her and briefly taking a look at her tail, smirking. As he makes this observation, he whispers to himself. "Lupine features? Alright, I suppose now's the time to suspend my disbelief." Rather than interrogate the woman, he would instead take off his fedora and hold it near his chest as he bowed slightly. "Good day, 'madam'. Don't suppose you'd know the city well enough to enlighten a gent such as myself? That is, if it's not too much to ask."
"Hmm?" The woman turns to look at the man who talked to her, the woman blinks for a moment before an almost unstable grin crosses her face once more. "I guess ya could say I've seen a thing or two, yeah. Near as I can tell there're none of the major actors here. City stays in one place too so you'll always be able to find it." Lappland can't help but notice the man's lack of any special features when he removes his hat, but it wasn't really her style to pester people. About that anyways. "I take it ya got lost? Look like it happens to ya alot."
"Lost?" The man chuckled slightly "Dismiss the notion, i'm merely here to explore. That is my trade, after all." He then put his hat back on and extend his right hand in a courteous manner. "Detective Philip Bennington, ace pathomancer, at your service."
"ooh, so you're one of those canaries they let find the mine eh?" Lappland chuckles to herself while carefully observing Phillip's reaction to her little joke. The woman briefly glances at his hand, but doesn't seem willing to accept "You should really be more careful around strangers. Ya wouldn't want to catch any fatal diseases after all." Once again, the woman pauses to observe his reaction before giving her own title in return "Lappland's what everyone calls me. Just here on a little mission of sorts. Nothing for an explorer like you to lose your head over."
He smiles, taking a single step back. "Gosh darn my overly polite nature. Anyways, I wouldn't say I look for mines. Not after they're laid, at any rate. In actuality, I solve cases before they happen. Many influential figures have come to me in the past, concerned they may be assassinated. My job is to find out who would have been the perpetrator and stop them beforehand. I also moonlight as a therapist. My reason for asking about the city was so that I may learn where I may most easily find employment. Of course, i'd never pass up the chance to chat with a fine lady such as yourself, either." His flirtatious comment would have an enchanting feeling to it, making it unlikely to offend the one it was directed towards.
"Sounds boring. Can't ya just work as a bodyguard or somethin' and deal with them directly? Sound way more interesting than snooping around." Lappland crosses her arms with a sigh, before giving Phillip a wide, almost maddened grin "Oh? You really think you can handle a girl like me? Think carefully now, there could be grave consequences" Lappland laughs for a few seconds, once again satisfied with her own jokes, but it only takes a moment for her to calm down and give Phillip a sly, sideways glance. "I am a mercenary y'know, so we've got a similar field. Sure would suck to have to kill ya though."
"Boring? And standing around all day waiting for something to happen isn't?" He gives off an inquisitive look. "Oh? Are you challenging me, now? You should know I never shirk from danger, sure beats wallowing around in my comfort zone all the time." He then chuckles at the Lappland's insinuation that she could kill him. "Well, it's not like I have many hits at the moment. My stances tend to earn me very little enemies."
"True ya have to wait a bit, but whenever they get there you can have a real, straight-up fight. And THAT'S when the fun starts. Even if nothing happens, there's bound to be plenty of people to toy with." Lappland giggles to herself, apparently lost in thought all of her own. Still, the woman never breaks eye contact with him. Soon, the woman stops laughing and simply smiles "Oh you are fun! Maybe I will drag you around a bit." Lappland lets out a sigh, tilting her head curiously before letting out another laugh "Give it a little time. If I haven't scared ya off yet you're bound to end up in the right crowd. Or wrong, I guess. Its a matter of perspective really."
