I prefer Adachi because it was less obvious. Akechi's twist was partly there to lull you into a false sense of security before the Igor reveal.

I think they're very similar in many ways, but I think a LOT more thought went into Akechi. It's like they gave Adachi a backstory and character motivation instead of "uhhh.... I hate women..... they're whores...... which is why I'm killing people I guess"

Adachi was frustrated at his lot in life, and what he did was out of spite towards how everybody else seems to have it better than him.

I'd have to agree that Akechi seems like a more fleshed out Adachi.

Mm, I like them both for different reasons.

Adachi is just an entertaining asshole and he's loads of fun to watch when he does his thing. He's not really all that "deep" of a character in my opinion, at least by Persona standards, but that's okay because he doesn't /need/ to be.

Akechi on the other hand is far more complex of a character, IMO. He works much better as a rival and foil to the MC than Adachi was to P4's MC.

He and the P5 MC have a tense relationship for many reasons. At first it just seems like Akechi's detective role is the source of tension.

But eventually (and in hindsight) it becomes clear that Akechi desperately wants what the MC has. He just sees no feasible way to obtain it. So, it's nice for his character that he gets extended a sympathetic hand despite his actions.

I do have to say Akechi could use a few pointers from Adachi on his villain theatrics, though. Adachi is a lot more sinister.

I prefer Adachi simply because i feel he was more relatable, but i agree that akechi was more fleshed out. PS Adachi was funny at too

I enjoyed how similar Akechi was to the player without being too on the nose about it...

Plus, having another Wild Card present opens up a bunch of cool things. One being that maybe we'll get a DLC where we play as Akechi. Pretty doubtful that'd happen, but it'd be HYPE AF!!
