Persona 5 royal boss fighty review thing except not really
NOTE THAT THIS THREAD WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR ROYAL, BUT ALSO DONT SPOIL THINGS FOR OTHER PEOPLE BECAUSE THATS NOT COOL so for a late birthday present, i recently got Persona 5 royal, and as someone who loves boss fights, especially in RPGs, i was way too excited to finally get to experience the boss fights. Of course the story is great but the fighting is what im focused on here. Now note that as of this thread going up, I've only beaten up to Kaneshiro. I'll be updating this as ive been playing the game pretty often, but so far im only going over the first 3 bosses. All will be tagged with spoilers so the mods dont yell at me, so review begins in the next post
One thing i forgot to sya for context is that im playing on normal, i might switch to hard later but for now im sticking with normal. First up, Kamoshida. This boss... Just... This boss... I felt so much emotion in this boss fight, seriously. Kamoshida, in a game filled with wacky villains with silly plans, Kamoshida is strangely scary and real. I've been lucky enough not to experience this kind of abuse in real life, but i know that people have and probably will for a long time. So getting to finally kick his face in was so cathartic. I liked the idea of the chained slaves doing his dirty work while he just stands there, chowing down so you can't hurt him, and taking it away feels so satisfying. Then he brings out Mishima to give him a volleyball, and then he brings out Shiho in a bunny oufiit, which made me want to ram his face into whatever i could. Even if the shiho is just cognitive, it still felt kinda bad beating her up, and then i got to take him out, ironically Ann actually got the final hit. Overall an amazing boss that just felt absolutely amazing to beat, and this is only the first one! A solid 9/10, without a doubt.

You missed the part where Shiho is weak to physical attacks. Cause, you know. Kamoshida.
I DID NOT KNOW THAT THAT HURTS EVEN MORE Anyways next is Maderame. Maderame was honestly an interesting fight. Not great, not awful. But interesting. Having to hit all 4 of the painting because if you dont finish them off all at the same time, they revive. That kinda sucks. However the 2nd half of the fight spices it up sooooooo much. Essentially he creates 4 typed clones of himself, and you need to keep taking them down until Maderame gets worn out and starts making counterfiets. Its a really neat concept, and its almost like a puzzle fight. Its really unique, and i certainly like it. Not more than Kamoshida, but still. 7/10.
Finally, for now, Kaneshiro this fight was.... Eh? I dont see why people think this fight is hard... The piggytron part was kinda bleh, not super hard but not super easy. And then the 2nd phase was like in the middle. On one hand, the fact that he can PUT EVERYONE TO SLEEP AND THEN TECHNICAL/CRIT ALL OF THEM is extremely annoying. But on the other hand, the bodyguards werent as hard as people think they are? No joke, i used dormin rush once and they were out for the rest of the fight. To me, the fight is just kinda... There. Not great, not awful. 5/10
