So, we're a bit under a month out from doomsday, clock's ticking folks. Been a pretty interesting ride, I'll give it that. Figured I should take a look back at the past nearly four years of my life and give this the little send-off it deserves. Might have something a little more proper in mind for when that day comes, but we'll save that. This should do for now.
Taking a look back, it's kinda funny to think that I first came to the site purely to shitpost and be obnoxious. Not unlike most users back then, really. Pretty sure I found the link through an iFunny post of all things, which is a rabbit hole in itself. Still, I got my laughs and most of my buddies skedaddled pretty quickly. I kept myself around though, something about the chaos back then was pretty entertaining.
The next several months from there were pretty wild, the site developed and I eventually landed the mod title through uh, nepotism, mostly. Gotta love that. Either way, things were probably at their funniest back then. For me anyway, I get my kicks from seeing some dumbass post some thread that probably took less than half a braincell to think up. Come to think of it, maybe I wasn't the best choice for a moderator. Then again, that's almost a joke in itself. All works out in the end, doesn't it?
Gotta say though, the people here have been something else. Some great, some a lot less great, and a whole lot more being relatively fine in my limited interactions with them. The perfect little mixed bag, we got it all. What's an online community without someone who desperately needs their teeth knocked out, right? Still, I've made some really great friends here, the list is pretty long but you know who you are. Some of the people on that list will probably never read this, but that's fine too. The memories are what count, in the end.
That's my big point here, I guess. Lot of us will probably not see each other much once this old dog is put down, but I don't see that as a bad thing really. We've made some memories, good or bad, and those are what I really cherish. One day I might be halfway down a bottle of cheap grocery store wine and remember that time the site became the Mario Site for a day. That memory literally just resurfaced from the bottom of my gut, and I suddenly just gave myself whiplash. Fun.
So all things said, gonna miss this place. I don't think I was a particularly great or effective moderator, especially nowadays, but I had a good time mostly. Met some people I hope will be friends far after December 1st, but if not that isn't really the end of the world. There will be plenty of time, plenty of forums and communities, but there will only ever be one Phansite. Except for the guy who used the name on social media I guess, but he's a tool anyway. He doesn't count.
It's been good, seeya around.
