Not sure, but whenever his Confidant rank got to like 6-7, I thought everyone would love him. His story is tragic and he is trying to find somewhere he is needed, however this turns to list for fame. His story is one of my favorites, and the first time I met him (blind as a bat), I was so excited to see him join the team! Granted he did so in a different way, but without him then the Thieves would've been horribly unknown and the main story would've been much different.

He just seems so bullyable lol. But the Phantom Thieves would be nothing without him.

I haven't done his confidant stuff yet so I don't know his back story. I'll get on that in my new game plus and then I'll give my opinions

Frankly I always liked Mishima. I liked his story and his transformation from the sad beaten student to becoming more confident . Right from the outside in the beginning of the game you can tell how the beatings had been affecting him and his personality. He acted very much like a person would in that situation , a learned helplessness sort of personality. So sad and defeated , I loved seeing his transformation back into a happy person , it seemed to me like one of the more fulfilling points of the game. You actually see the effects of your actions on Mishima and how it really changes his life for the better. If you had never stepped in he seemed to be right on the road to suicide ........

The game sort of frames him as pathetic. It's sad you almost never get to say anything nice to him either as the protag...should've let the PT to rot at that last battle lol instead of inspiring support from everybody

I feel like he's the butt monkey of the story, and that tends to translate to the people who make memes making him the butt of jokes. I think he's an interesting character, and will probably appreciate him more on playthroughs where I can pay attention to the confidants more than the beats of the story like I did on my first one. Plus, for me, his story seemed really spread out. I had to do a crapton of mementos requests that were really spread out to get his ranks to trigger, whereas I could rush through others and not forget what was going on in his story.
