Kanda church
*The Kanda district is home to many shrines and churches, making it a spiritual center of sorts. There's no service being held today, but like always the church remains open for any passerby. A young woman can be seen kneeling by the altar, staff laid across her knees*
*A little brown-haired girl walk in, staring at the large (for her) interior in awe. A black humanoid follows her at a steady pace. He's much taller than her, yet despite his odd appearance, he has an almost fatherly aura*
*Walks in, looking at the girl*
*The young woman stands, using her staff for support, she turns arounud and smiles at the pair. There's something elegant about her movements as she walks over to the pair and smiles at the two* Greetings lambs, what is it that brings you here? Its rare to get visitors outside of a service. *She turns and smiles at Hisato* You as well? Have you come to ease some of your burdens? After all, this church is a haven for everyone.
I would like to know more about this place, if you don't mind.
*The young woman continues smiling and gestures to the cathedral around her* There's really not much to say about it. This is a church, a haven for all who are lost and seeking. Here you can search for something deeper in reality, or ease the guilt of any wrongdoings. Its a wonderful place where you can lay your burdens down
Um... We were just looking around, and thought we'd check this place out! Right, Deemo? *The humanoid nods, not speaking a word. Can he even speak...?*
Sounds good. *Looks around in the church*
*The young woman smiles at the three, before bending down to pat the little girl on the head* That's very good, for all of you. Well, a haven is always open. If you ever feel the need to talk about something, I'm always here. *The young woman turns and walks back to the altar. As she passes, you can see a few small amulets on her staff. She returns to the altar, and kneels once more*
That staff....
Talk about something...? *Something nags at her mind, but she's not sure what. She shakes her head and begins wandering around, humming a familiar song. Deemo looks at her for a moment, then gazes up at the altar.*
*The young woman remains kneeling, but looks back at Hisato, holding her staff a little more tightly* Its a reminder of my home. and a status symbol of sorts. *The young woman looks at the amulets on her staff* I was quite important in the church there. So it serves to both remind me of home, and in a way to show who I am.
Interesting...
Of home... *The little girl looks down at her feet for a moment, then smiles at the woman.* You must have been really good at your job there!
*The woman glances back at the little girl, then begins toying with a small falcon amulet hanging off her staff* It was nothing special, really. All my brothers and sisters in the church were too kind. All I ever did was help out when I could. *The young woman looks down at the foot of the altar* I could never bear to watch people suffer.
You do a great thing... *Smiles at the woman*
*The girl nods. This is a really nice person...* What's your name, by the way? I'm Alice, and I think I already mentioned Deemo's name. *At the sound of his name, Deemo walks up to Alice's side*
*The young woman continues looking at the foot of the altar, then suddenly stands up and turns around, as if snapping out of a daze, left hand over her heart and right holding her staff* I... I'm sorry, I should have introduced myself earlier. My name is Eris, Eris Anthule. *Eris smiles at the three* I'm really nothing special though. Just another humble servant of our lord. I'm sure anyone could do just as well.
Nice too meet you, Miss Anthule! *Alice then looks up at the various designs around the church. They seem familiar. Perhaps she had visited churches in the past? Probably. People went to churches all the time.*
*Eris notices Alice's curious look, and smiles* Yes, it is quite a nice place, isn't it? Nothing huge, but there's a certain... tranquility about it. Almost makes me jealous. Its something I never got to appreciate until I came here.
Mhm. It feels nice, kinda like the place I was in before I came to this Nexus place! I wonder if there's a piano here... *Deemo shakes his head. Alice frowns.* No? It's called something else... an organ, right? They're like pianos but really big!
*Eris looks around the church, and laughs, quickly attempting to cover her mouth as she does so* I'm afraid this quaint place is too small for such a thing. Here the people worship with their voice. *giggle* Of course, not everyone can sing, but its wonderful to watch them try regardless. After all, its the thought that matters most.
I guess so! Your voice is an instrument, too! Like, I can't play the piano like Deemo can, but I can still sing! I'm not the best, but it's fun. *Alice's eyes seem to gleam as she speaks*
*Eris smiles, and looks up at the ceiling above the alter* Of course, seeing a crowd lift their voices to the heavens, its one of the greatest joys I've gotten to experience. In some ways, its truly amazing. I'm glad to have found this place.
Wow... we'll have to visit again sometime, then! *Alice walks over to the door and waves* It was nice seeing you, miss! *Both the girl and her companion leave. Faint singing can be heard soon after, but it fades as they wander off...*
*The young woman returns to the altar and kneels, she focuses on one of her amulets and waits*
*Alaina walks in and stares around with awe* So this is what a church looks like from the inside. Looks like I have to take some notes on this. *She pulls out a blue ink pink and begins jotting a few words on her left arm* *She fails to notice the young woman in front of her as she writes*
*Slowly opens door and walks in* Ummm, hey? *Notices fancy dressed woman* Hey, where am I again?
*Eris continues to pray for a few minutes, before hearing Pika and slowly standing. She turns to the other two with a smile and bows* Forgive my negligence, it seems I didn't notice my visitors. *Eris straightens herself back up and walks closer to the others* This is nothing special, a small church in what they call the "Kanda" district. It is a wonderful place where our lord's flock can gather. It is also a shrine of peace, where you can share your sorrows with no regrets.
Yeah lady, I'm not much of a religious person, but this place is lookin' pretty nice. *Looks around*
*Alaina stops writing for a moment and contemplates the words of the young lady* So this is a place that gives people some form of direction?
*Hol Horse jumps through one of the windows* Hello people I don't know.
*Eris gives Pika a patient smile and gestures to the area around her* Of course, this place isn't just for believers. Anyone can come and join us, even if just for a moment. *Eris takes a small amulet, resembling a falcon off her staff and holds it close to her chest* If I can ease even the lightest of sorrows, then my work will be complete. *Eris then looks at Alaina with a smile* You could say that. While not everyone is "into it", there are many people, such as myself, who find value in showing such reference. *Finally, Eris turns to Hol Horse and bows, ignoring the broken window behind him* I see another lamb has joined us. You may call me Eris, Eris Anthule.
Lamb? Who are you calling a lamb?
This place looks peaceful enough. *Gets into cardboard box and starts drinking whiskey inside*
*Eris attempts to hide a giggle with her hand* We're all lambs under the Great Shepard. Well, I could go on, but I get the feeling you're here for another reason. After all, there are no sermons today.
*Hol sighs* Whatever, I have a question for you.
*Eris gives a short bow to Hol before looking back up with a smile* Go ahead and ask, after all, I'm here for anyone in need.
Alright, have you seen five guys and a dog with them around these parts?
*Eris looks down and shakes her head* I'm afraid no such group had come by. At least not recently. Though I did see an interesting dog earlier, I do not believe it's related.
*Pops out of cardboard box* Hey! Are you on an important mission? Can I join?
Oh, okay. *Hol mumbles to himself* Those damn Joestars, always trying to get away from me.
*Hol turns to Pika* Uhh, sure I guess.
*Eris turns to Pika with a smile* I suppose you could say that. Though I never imagined you to be a missionary.
I was talking to Hol. And Hol, I've decided I got bigger things in mind.
*Once again the church opens its doors. This time there's no one near the alter. Instead the young woman is standing off to the side, looking at the charms around her staff*
OOC: alright, looks like I'll have to find another angle..... Seems a bit difficult to introduce a somewhat.... Static character.
*Enters the church*
*Eris looks up and smiles at Hisato. The area feels graceful, almost serene* Hello again little lamb. I'm glad you decided to come back. What is it that brings you this far out of the way?
Well, i like this place.
It is quite nice, isn't it? Its usually quiet here, and a bit small, but if you look up front *Eris turns towards the alter and looks out the stainglass windows* Well, its quite a work of art.
Yes, it's great.. *Sits down on a bench*
*Eris looks at the sall amulets on her staff, before speaking* How would you like to hear a story about these? There are all sorts of them from back home. Each charm has its own legend associated with it. *Eris smiles* Of course, its impossible to tell how true it is. But I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe in miracles.
I'm all ears.. *Looks at Eris*
*Eris separates her amulets, and looks back at Hisato with a smile* Very well, I have four, one of a falcon, another of a tiger, one of a suit of blessed armor, and lastly a talisman of the Seraph Lapis. Which story would you like to hear?
Start with the talisman.
*Eris holds up all four of her amulets, one in the shape of a small, armored bird, another in the shape of a tiger shrouded in flame, a third, larger than the others, shows a towering suit of armor, and the last one shows a winged woman in armor, kneeling with her sword. Eris smiles patiently* These are all talismans in their own ways, each with their own stories to tell. Would you prefer me to choose?
Yes, if you don't mind...
*Eris attaches three of the amulets back onto her staff, and holds out the amulet depicting an angel* This is the story of the Seraph Lapis, angel of hope. It begins in a small town, far far away. This was a peaceful little town, full of kind, faithful people. Though there were no preachers, and no churches nearby, still they felt the desire to worship. And so, they hired a master sculpter to build them a statue. After many years it was finished, and stood alone in the town square. Supposedly it looked alot like the charm here. Eventually, the town grew into a wonderful little city. The citizens never ended up building a proper sanctuary, instead they worshipped around their little statue. *Eris grips the angel tightly, and looks up at the window* One day a great darkness befell their land. The town became set-upon by demons, and was too far from the kingdom to receive help. Can you guess what happened next?
Not really. Please continue.
*Eris smiles and holds the amulet towards the sky* The people did their best to stand against the darkness, every day praying for salvation. Weeks, maybe months passed. Unbeknownst to the people, the statue heard their prayers. Slowly, their faith transformed the statue. It slowly turned from stone, to something more. Until one day, a great light burst forth, and the Seraph Lapis was born. *Eris smiles as she holds the amulet more closely, as though it were precious* She took to the sky, and in mere moments struck down the forces of darkness. This is the first and so far only legend of an angel being brought into existence by the power of faith. But of course, its only a legend, isn't it?
You might be right. *Smiles at Eris*
*Eris hangs the angel amulet with the others, all the while she smiles knowingly* I wish I could have been there to see it. I wonder, what would you think if you saw a miracle, something completely incredible?
I would be surprised, and amazed too.
*Eris looks at her amulets for a moment, before glancing around the empty church, and smiling* Well, it seems there aren't many people around. I could show you a little something if you want. Of course, I haven't done it in a while, but I hope you can keep the secret.
Sure, what is it? *Stands up then looks at Eris*
It would be easiest to show. *Eris continues smiling and slowly takes the bird amulet off of her staff, clutching it tightly, she closes her eyes and chants* The prayers of the people send their hopes to the heavens. *The amulet begins to glow in her hands as she continues* The guardian of the skies hears their plea, and comes to bring hope to the righteous *The amulet glows brightly as Eris lets go of it. A great light flashes, and once it clears, a large falcon, with armor on its plumes and claws can be seen perched on Eris's shoulder* As you can see, miracles do exist, in some ways. Of course, a favor such as this is not to be asked for lightly, but there's no harm in such a short time.
Amazing... *Smiles at Eris*
*Sighs then walks to the door* I should get going.
*Eris waves to Hisato as he leaves* If you ever need to be relieved of your burdens, or want to hear more stories, I can usually be found here
I will. Farewell. *Leaves the church*
*Geralt enters the church then looks around* Hm. Where am i....
*Eris smiles at Geralt and gestures to the altar* This is a small church in the Kanda district, a wonderful little place to let go of your burdens. You seem troubled, would you like to share your woes?
No, i'm not troubled. Just looking for a place to stay for tonight. *Geralt walks to Eris*
No, i'm not troubled. Just looking for a place to stay for tonight. *Geralt walks to Eris*
*Eris steps a little bit back from Geralt, and shakes her head* I'm afraid I can't help you there. After all, the church is not mine, I've simply come to an agreement with the owner. I help maintain the place and guide any lambs who end up here, and in exchange I can use it as much as I want.
I have to try the inn then...
*Eris toys with a few of the amulets on her staff and looks at the floor* I'm afraid I'm rather new to this place, so I don't know the area very well. However, I'm sure there are some more... Experienced people around who can direct you to a good place.
You moved here? *Geralt crosses his arms*
You could say that. Well, its more like I just... Found myself here one day. *Eris smiles and looks to the altar* Fortunately the people here were very nice, they took me in and helped me get back on my feet. I'm nothing much really, but I'll always be indebted to them.
That staff... Are you a sorceress?
*Eris laughs and shakes her head* No no, nothing of the sort. I am, or at least, I was a high priestess. Its a status symbol, showing me as a shepherd of our Lord's flock. Of course, it doesn't mean much of anything now.
*Well after the services have been completed the church doors remain open for any who may wander in. The church is largely empty, with the only living thing in sight being a young, blonde-haired woman kneeling at the altar*
*he enters in, his cloak moving freely* This are reminds me of home...
*Upon hearing Nightstalker the young woman slowly stands and turns around with a smile* It is quite wonderful, isn't it? For everyone I've seen something about this place reminds them of their pasts.
*he takes off his helmet and gazes around* Maybe it is the architecture that rekindled my forgotten memories.
And I ask, why do we make memories even though it will fade away from the winds of time?
Why make memories you ask? It's a simple answer really. Even if an event is dragged away, that doesn't mean it didn't happen. It still holds some relevance in our lives after all.
*he walks around as his ghost, glowing emerges, glowing black while white lights softly ripples out* I've made memories and did my hardest to cherish them. But every time my ghost revives me from the dead in order to protect, my mind gets jumbled and becomes more harder. I even can't even recall how I died and became a Guardian.
*he sighs and takes a seat* And it makes me feel alone... and I can feel it chocking me.
OOC: my sincerest apologies, it seems that I fell asleep. I need to stop doing that. IC: *The young woman tilts her at Nightstalker head in concern* I can see you've been in many conflicts, it's a shame to have to lose something as precious as memory, part of yourself. But surely you don't have to fight? *the young woman smiles at Nightstalker* Perhaps you can learn to solve your problems another way, one better for everyone.
OOC: It's alright. I also fell asleep as well. IC: *he removes his gloves to show the priest an arm that is insect and glows a sickly green under the cracks* I tried my best but my home... the Tower is never safe, every day I defend it for others to live for another day.
*The young woman looks at his arm, sorrow in her eyes. She attempts to hold it for a moment* You poor thing. Is fighting and despair all you know? I've never been able to bear watching people suffer.... But it seems conflict is simply fated to be, even here.
*the clink of chain against steel plate rattles, an immaculate blade slightly bumping its sheath. a knight enters the church, and kneels to pray befoore the altar, as if swearing fealty*
To be fair... yes. But despite the hopelessness of war, I goal is stead fast even my body is ruined. Defend my home.
*The young woman nods to Nightstalker* Such things are unfortunately necessary. For it is a shepherd's duty to defend their Lord's flock. I wish there was more I could do to help, but know that if you ever need to talk, I am here. *The young woman smiles as she watches the knight kneel* I see another lamb has joined us.
*he smiles to the priest* Thank you very much ma'am. It seems I must take my leave. I will see you later. *he rises up and leaves the church feeling almost renewed*
*the Knight stands up, and notices the churches caretaker pass a remark about him.* in my homeland, churches and temples are a place of shelter....paying respects to the gods is also respect to the church....and is said to grant a boon
*The arcstrider hunter looks around traveling and taking scans with ghost* Anything new? Ghost: Negative
*The Avalon strolls into the church.* Jake: Scanning for signs of XADA lifeforms...
*Eris attempts to hide a giggle as she looks at the Knight* I'm glad to hear some things remain the same, wherever you are. For me the church has always been s place to gather and let go of one's burdens, even if only for a short time. And a place of reassurance, that no matter the struggles, things will turn out wonderful.
for the undead, hope is the only thing that is yours, priestess. *the knight speaks in a highborn manner*
*The young woman smiles and shakes her head* Strange subject to bring up, the undead. Poor creatures, couldn't be allowed to rest. An undead has no hope anymore. If they did, they would be something more, something truly alive.
aye, but the soul speaks, and even though it decays, even though i decay....i still have a journey to finish. and only my faith, and the steel at my hip guides me. *the knight clenches his fists as he speaks dutifully*
*the young woman continues smiling and puts on hand on the Knight's shoulder* I see you're determined. I may never be able to know what you've been through, but ifI can make your burden any lighter, I would be glad to do so. Though for now, I must return to my vigil. *The young woman turns and walks back to the altar, she takes a small amulet off of her staff and grips it tightly as she kneels*
*the knight sets himself in a pew, and continues his prayers*
*Enters the church* Hello, anyone here?
*Eris remains at the foot of the altar in deep concentration. It seems like she will be busy for some time*
Maybe i come back later. *Walks out*
*Enters the church then looks around* Empty..
*Eris walks out of one of the side-halls. She pauses upon seeing Hisato and smiles* Hello again little lamb, it seems you caught me away from the main hall. Did you need anything?
*A certain knight clad in red and white crashes into the church! It appears that hes riding atop 2 floating swords? I don't know really, at any rate it looks like he has crashed into a wall Wo-o-ah! Ooof!
I came to hear more stories. *Sits down on the nearest bench*
*Eris hears a crash coming from just outside the church and turns to Hisato* My apologies, but it seems like you'll have to wait a moment. It sounds like someone could use help. *Eris calmly walks outside the church and sees PK against the wall. She chuckles* I've never seen someone so eager to enter a church before. Are you alright?
Yep! I'm fine! *PK then jumps up and picks up the swords he was riding on, he then concentrates as they become engulfed in blue energy, forming into 2 Jack Frosts, one with a P and one with an S on each head as the trio bow Hello there! Pancake Knight at your service! And that's Pancake and Syrup! I was simply passing by when I lost control! This place looks interesting though! Whats your name Lady?
*Eris smiles at the knight and bows* My name is Eris, Eris Anthule. The church has been allowing me to stay here these past few weeks as I get used to the area. Though it seems you caught me at a bad time. I was just about to begin my evening prayers. Still, know this place is always open. *Eris walks inside and bows apologetically to Hisato as she passes* It seems this was a bad time. Though I would be happy to tell a few stories another time, I'm afraid it's about time for my evening prayers, I will likely be busy for a while. *Eris walks to the foot of the altar and kneels, grasping a few of her amulets as she prays* OOC: sorry for being so short, but school calls, you know how it is.
*PK then waves and brushes off the dirt on his clothing, Mmm! I shall return another time then Lady Eris! I shall see you again soon! Now then! Fusion: Breakfast Swords! *PK then concentrates, summoning blue energy from his hands as P+S become engulfed in it, morphing and changing shape until they form swords as PK jumps onto them, flying away into the sky, hopefully not crashing into another building (Rip, school sucks!)
