Kinda Church: A Serene World
*the Kanda district is a small part of Tokyo, well-known for the churches and shrines that dot the streets. One small church in particular has become a frequent haunt of a young woman. Inside the church is mostly standard, with long pews leading up to an altar. The altar, however, is far from standard. Upon the altar is a life-sized stone statue of an elegant woman, with a long, flowing white dress, and spears pointed up behind her. Near this statue, the young priestess can be seen, she seems to be preparing something*
OOC: *Kanda. I hate autocorrect so much
A silver-haired person hesitates as they approach the church. Their kind wasn't one that visited shrines or churches. They were creatures that rejected holy things... But that didn't matter, they told themselves. That didn't apply to everyone, and something in their heart brought them here. They sigh and flatten their ears, then enter.
*The young woman near the alter hears the door open. She slowly gets to her feet and turns around to greet the newcomer* I see this place isn't quite to your liking, but I'm glad you came. Have you any burdens I can help ease? Or perhaps you would like to aid me instead?
"Well..." The person rubs the back of their head. It was kind of odd to speak to a complete stranger about stuff like this, but she was the only one they knew they could turn to... "I... I'm kind of at a loss. It's just... the people in this Nexus are..." They shake their head and sit down on a bench. "Maybe I should start from the beginning."
*The young woman smiles and walks over to sit by the silver-hairedman* That's fine. We have all the time in the world. Take as long as you like. Rest assured, I'll listen. *she smiles and tilts her head* It's one of my joys, getting to hear all about travelers.
Sam
*Sam stops infront of the church while walking by. He looks at it.* How can such great architecture be attached to a building celebrating a fairy tale?
*as the door was left open, Sam is able to see the other two conversing on a pew, as well as the peculiar statue on the altar*
ooc: Sorry, had to answer the phone ic: "It started when I- no, it was before I came here. I used to live in Russia with my mother, father, and two brothers. My mom was a nekomata, hence my current appearance. She always told us humans were bad, but I never believed her... but when Markov, the older brother, died, I realized that certain humans weren't exactly kind." They take a deep breath and continue, quickly moving on from that last sentence. "Since then, I've been trying to stop humans like that, and it was going well... At least, until I came to the Nexus. Just last night, someone came into Leblanc with a human heart. He said he'd killed someone, and I tried to bring him to justice, but I was powerless to do anything... And got some innocents killed with my miscalculation..." They close their eyes, and their nails dig into the seat of the pew. "But the worst part was... nobody did anything. They just let a murderer like that stay. Why? Why is that?"
Sam
*Sam walks* I know that it's rude of my to be interrupting you, but mind if I make a stab at answering your question?
"What...?" The person wipes their eyes with their arm, and gives Sam a sideways glance.
Sam
People here are too used to death and murder. It's unfortunate, but it's a fact. I think the reason no-one helped was simply because no-one cares anymore. It's just my theory, but if that's true, it's sad. *Sam takes a screwdriver out of his lab coat pocket and unscrews something on his metal arm* People are losing their morality.
OOC: only if you can forgive my driving. IC: *Eris smiles understandingly and nods to the man* Unfortunately it's not so uncommon. Most people value the life of one, such as the murderer, over the life of another, such as his victim. This leads to some crimes going unpunished, and the spread of hatred and sorrow. *Eris looks back to the statue, her eyes resting on its face* As for the murderer himself. Some people find themselves unable to stop, they wind up spreading their sorrow to others, and making the world worse for wear. *Eris lowers her head and looks at the feet of the statu * It is a terrible truth, but one that must not always be. I believe there is a way to bring peace, serenity, to all.
"I... see..." The person opens their icy eyes, and looks up at the statue in front of them. "I guess not everyone has the same values here... but I can't exactly give up on mind. But out of curiosity, what would that 'way' you mentioned be, miss?"
Sam
*Sam replaced the screw in his arm.* Yes, pease share with us your wisdom, oh maiden of the church. Should be good to hear. *Sam smirked.*
*Eris stands and returns to the statue* There is a ritual, from my home, that is said to be able to grant the desires of all those who partake. *Eris smiles and walks around the statue, setting bowls of incense near the corners* Would either of you like to aid me in preparations? There is no requirement, but the more participants, the greater it should be.
"To grant desires..." It's a little suspicious, but they feel like they can trust this woman. Besides, they had nothing to lose. They nod and stand up. "I'd like to help."
Sam
*Sam looks over at Yuri then to Eris before sighing* As long as I'm not selling my soul to Atua or whatever god you worship, I might as well give you a hand. *Sam puts his screwdriver away before cracking his neck.*
*Eris smiles at the two, chuckling at what she takes as Sam's joke* No no, it's quite simple really. Most of the preparations are already done. Really, now we just need to light the burners, and perform the prayer. Then the ritual will be finished
"That shouldn't be too hard. Is there a lighter or candle around?" the cat-person asks. They could light them with their fire powers, but the flames of a demon cat wouldn't exactly be the best option in a holy place...
Sam
Lightning the burners eh? If you insist. *Sam snaps his fingers, calling small electrical bolts to hit the burners, igniting them.* It's surprising how versatile electricity is.
It's a church. Kinda.
*Eris moves to grab an igniter, but stops after hearing Sam light them* It does seem quite useful, doesn't it? Well, there's little more to do now. Simply recite the words, and then wait for a miracle. *Eris giggles for a moment* Almost forgot, there's no chance for you two to know. Here, I brought a few copies. Memorize them quickly, as our eyes should be closed during the prayer *Eris hands them both a few sheets of paper. The paper reads "From sorrow comes sorrow, and so despair is brought to the world. From light comes light, and the people's prayers gives form to that light. For the sake of the people's light, we call forth the name of the almighty _______"*
The cat person takes the sheet, and reads over it, repeating them over and over in their head. After a while, they fold it up and nod, ready to start.
Sam
*Sam skims the passage once before pocketing the prayer.* I like having a photographic memory. Summoning God almighty, huh? Feel like I'm joining a cult.
Very well. *Eris walks around the burning incense and drops some small powder into each burner. The incense becomes thicker, and seems to sting the eyes* Now, we can begin. Just follow my lead *Eris kneels by the altar, touching the foot of the statue, and recites* From sorrow comes sorrow, and so despair is brought to the world. From light comes light, and the people's prayers gives form to that light. For the sake of the people's light, we call forth the name of the almighty OOC: oh yeah, and you totally did Sam.
Yuri closes their eyes and joins in the prayer. It shakes them to the core, performing this holy ritual. It was both exciting and terrifying... The temptation to open their eyes is great, but that would mess everything up.
Sam
Why did I agree to this? *Sam reluctantly joins in and recites the prayer. His arm sparks slightly.*
..... Nexus *Eris finishes the prayer, and the statue briefly glows with a warm light. You hear the sound of Eris collapsing, and what might be footsteps?*
"Miss-" The cat person falls silent as the strange sound reaches their pointed ears. The ears swivel around, trying to hear the source of the footsteps. At this point, they decide to open their eyes, which almost seem to glow.
Sam
Now what? *Sam sighs. He presses a few buttons on his arm, causing it to stop sparking*
*Yuri opens their eyes to see.... Eris? There seems to be two, one of whom is standing, and the other, collapsed next to them. There's a strange, blue glow, in the standing Eris's eyes. She regards the two, blankly, and speaks* Those who struggle in sorrow, seek out the Morning Star. There, Serenity shall take shape. *A brief, blue flash lights around Eris? And it is soon as though she were never there* *In the distance outside, a new star formation has formed. Eight stars are spaced evenly in a diamond pattern, with lights pointing inward. It is distant, but visible, even in the daylight*
Sam
Well, that was cryptic. The Morning Star, eh? Tch. *Sam stands up and leans on his cane.* And I was right. Joined a cult. God Damn it.
ooc: Damn Internal Server Errors, I'll sue! ...also, gonna nom a thing quickly. ic: The person knows that wasn't Eris. Probably an entity taking her form. Yet now they have a direction, a thing to find. The Morning star... probably in the new constellation. They pick up the collapsed Eris and set her on a pew to rest, then step outside to follow the stars.
OOC: I just wanted to take this chance to say, I love you Sam. Also, this is set-up for an event I'll probably do something minor most days of the week then finale most of the 6th and whatever time is best the 7th. *When Yuri picks up Eris, she begins to stir. She soon opens her eyes and looks around the room* I.... I'm sorry. Who are you? Where are we now?
Sam
Names Sam, he's Yuri, I think it was. We're members of your cu- I mean, friends... hopefully. Sorry, but I've gotta run. I promised someone I'd go star gazing. *With that, Sam walks off, sighing deeply and wondering what the hell he's gotten himself involved with this time*
"I must go as well... But I'm Yuri Nosneko, and we're still in the church. Some stars appeared, so I'm going to check them out. Take care, miss." Yuri bows, then steps out the door after making sure Eris would be fine physically.
*Eris sighs and grips her head for a moment, before sitting up* I.. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this must be. Take care... Yuri... Sam. I hope to see you again sometime.
OOC: I'm good at this, extremely skilled. Yeah. Totally. That's it.
Aincrad walks in stretching and intrigued. "We had a church? This whole time? Damn I really got to pay more attention." He smiles to himself them sees Eris. "Oh hey Eris!" He waves and walks over. "How are you doing?"
(Screenshot red btw)
(Screenshoted btw)
*Eris turns around to see Aincrad, she looks at him briefly, before slowly standing up* H.. Hello little lamb. How is it that you know my name? I can't remember having met before. *Eris shakes her head and attempts to smile* Nevermind, that's not important. I.. Is there anything I can help you with?
(Yes let's ignore my fuck up.) Aincrad raises his eyebrow. "We met a while ago, at the gym, when you were up against Em, I believe. You had those medals that summoned beings... Ahh never mind. I guess it's not really important. Like you said." He shakes his head and looks around. "As for why I'm here, I'm exploring. And investigating. A little of both." He rubs at his temples and yawns. "For the exploring, I just like looking around. So many places I have yet to see and explore. As for the investigating... I've been having lapses in my memory and I 'woke' from a lapse in a whole new area. I was just hoping you might have seen me or something."
*Eris blinks for a moment and holds her head* I don't see why I would be competing with someone. I hate conflict. *Eris smiles at Aincrad, eyes closed* My apologies, I seem to be having memory problems as well. I'm having trouble remembering past..... an hour ago? *Eris quickly bows to Aincrad* My apologies, I'm afraid there is little I can do to help. But if you ever have need of anything, I'll do my best.
*Crashes through the roof* OOF! Where am I?
He raises an eyebrow. "Huh... Alright let's try this, what do you remember Eris? Seems someone has struck you with a hard case of amnesia. At least from where I'm sitting." He shakes his head and sits across from her. "Let me help at least, you've probably helped lots of people so let me return the favor." He then nods at Pika. "Heya. And a church. Kinda. I think."
Huh... *Looks around and pulls out whiskey*
*Eris sighs and sits back down* Well, I suppose we should start with what I remember. I know who I am, Eris Anthule. I know this is a church, though I feel it is not the one I am used to. There are two other people, a cat-man by the name of Yuri, and a blonde by the name of Sam. *Eris looks closely at her amulets* I know these are important to me. And feel as though there's a deeper meaning to them.... Perhaps that's what you meant by summoning? *Eris looks over to Pika patiently* I know that you are not supposed to drink in a church. As that is disrespectful
*Finishes bottle and throws it out of the hole in the ceiling* So, whatcha guys doin' here?
Aincrad nods. "Yeah so far that all sounds about right. From what I can remember you were a spiritualist and these medals summoned guardians, all of which were close to you. I may not know much about you, but I think I can help with finding a way to jog your memory." He signals to the medals. "One of these brought forth a mostly human figure, and I would be willing to guess that you made contracts with all of them or the beings that control them. Bringing out that angel figure might allow her to shed light upon yourself. May I go through and see if I can find it?" He then turns a little to Pika. "This now. Otherwise just talking." (Sorry was having dinner.)
*Eris looks at her four medals, one depicting a bird, another a fox, the third a towering suit of armor, and lastly, a kneeling angelic figure. She holds all four of them out for Aincrad* I don't really understand how this would help, but you may look through them if you wish. I'm afraid I don't have too many, its tradition to bring no more than five with you on a journey. I guess I only brought four.
Aincrad looks at them studying the pictures and points to the Angel. "Do you remember how to summon this one? I have a feeling that it'll be the best candidate for solving your current predicta- wait what journey are you talking about?" He immediately turns back to her. "Is something coming to you?" (My other account seems to not be working so I'll just use this for now)
*Eris looks back down at her amulets for a moment, and concentrates* I'm.... Not sure. I seem to remember most of the rules and writings. If I tried, I could probably perform the right chant. Though, anything about myself, beyond who I am, seems to be gone. *Eris shakes her head once more* I'm sorry. I know I'm not of much help. Honestly, I don't seem to be getting more than impressions or feelings. There's really no need to worry about me so much. OOC: Server errors are fun. Thanks Poland
(YES IM NOT THE ONLY ONE! THANK LORD I WAS ABOUT TO GO INSANE!) Aincrad nods and leans back. "Well if you need something just call. I would be happy to help in any way I can." With that he gets up and stetches. "Time for me to continue, bye Eris." (And I'm gonna conk out for an hour or two. See ya then.)
*Eris nods to Aincrad and waves goodbye* Farewell traveller, I will do my best. If you ever need someone to talk to, I am usually here. OOC: Or not, really, I didn't expect this to drag out honestly. Lets just say the lore I'm working with is..... Confusing to say the least.
*he enters in looking around the architecture* Hello?
