Sayaka awkwardly scratches the back of her head once the healing's done. This is kinda a weird situation even discounting the blue hedgehog. The young girl beams with pride as she rolls off of him, Easily getting to her feet. Sayaka listens to Kotori's rant, apparently uninterested in continuing any fight anymore. After waiting for the other girl to finish, she proceeds to march over there, picking up one of her swords in the process
The whole POINT of this competition is to be better prepared for when something DOES happen, something you'll NEED to be able to fight. Fighting's not fun, its serious, its something we do because SOMEONE has to.
Sayaka takes a deep breath, Kotori might feel kinda useless, but....
I DID work with you, and it was going great while we could. But you just risked hurting, not just me, not just our opponent, but yourself too. I've always told you, I'll be fine, you don't have to worry about me, but you just keep on throwing yourself in danger. And whose job is it to keep you and everyone else safe? MINE.
If you can't do something then you can't do it, that's fine!! You think I've always been like this? You think I've always been able to conjure swords out of nowhere or flash across the arena? You think I WANT to? Sure, that stuff might be cool, but its so much more than that.
By the time she reaches Kotori, Sayaka is fuming, Sayaka sheathes her sword to avoid doing anything rash and continues.
Fact is, I haven't always been like this. I probably would have been able to live a normal life, I'd probably still be home with my friends and family.
But no, instead I made friends with this amazing girl who taught me everything about her, what it meant to be a hero. I did everything I could to help, but I knew when to let the stronger person take care of it. Because if I didn't her job'd just be harder.
Sayaka's eyes begin to tear up as she points her finger, poking at Kotori's chest
And so, I got to sit back and watch, when she finally found one of those monsters she couldn't beat. All I could do was stand there, helpless, when she was killed and eaten. And then to make matters worse, Immediately afterwards, you know who showed up? Homura. Homura Akemi. I don't know what the hell happened to her, but in my world, she just stood there and let Mami, my teacher, one of my best friends get killed so that SHE could get the rewards.
That's who I am. THAT'S why I do this, not because I want to, not because its "fun" But because if I didn't I'd be leaving the lives of my friends, my family, everyone I cared about in the hands of some psychopath who would gladly let people die. THIS, THIS IS NOTHING.
