Java the Hutt: Rebrew of the Cup
Evening has come, the sky lit up by the setting sun. Around now most people would be on their way home, bracing themselves to walk through the cold winter winds. Its not at all uncommon for these people to dip into a nearby building for a brief respite, perhaps find some nice conversation and a warm drink to take with them. One such commonly visited building is a cafe located just along the city streets. On top of the small building is a sign featuring some kind of odd, alien slug pouring coffee down its throat. Inside, the cafe has a slight space theme, metallic grey chairs and tables in addition to whitewashes walls and laminated floors. The owner, a young, lavender-haired man, stands behind the counter, leaning against a nearby wall and waiting. The owner speaks to himself Been a while since I've opened shop. Probably the last time for a while too. *sigh* Still, its kinda what I signed up for buying the place
[Kazuya would walk in rather hastily. His cheek seem a bit red, and also looks a bit tired. It would seem he was either running or walking very, very fast. He would then, with both eyes closed, walk towards the counter and sit down, lying his head against the counter.] Man... Can I get a glass of water? [He would look up and see Gamma. Kazuya stays quiet for a moment before speaking again.] ... Please?
Gamma sighs and steps off the wall, grabbing an average glass along the way, probably holds about ten ounces, and over to the sink, he fills the cup with water, forming a few ice cubes to keep it cool, before setting it in front of Kazuya, in a few swift movements. You look kinda dead. Heard there was a bit of a flue going around. Don't tell me you've got it too now. Having handed the other a glass, Gamma sighs and leans back a little, both arms behind his head, like nothing had ever even happened.
[Kazuya takes the glass of water and chugs it down. His cheeks go back to their usual pale tone as he lets out a big sigh.] I don't, well, I don't think I have it anyway. Just got out of some time travel shenanigans and people were thanking me. [Kazuya keeps looking at the empty glass as he speaks.] I got embarrassed and looked for a place to stay. Luckily I found the cafe out of pure chance.
Gamma shrugs, back in his spot against the wall, there's starting to be a bit of an imprint from how much he waits there, not that it really matters. Of course, I don't mind anyone resting here to talk. Plus, you actually have somewhere to go when we close. I remember there used to be some kinda tradition about sleeping in these places. The young man sighs, glancing outside into the city streets. Not too many people around now, business might be better if he chose busier times, but well, he's not much of a businessman anyways If anything I'm surprised its just you. Normally I'd expect some kinda small party coming back. I suppose you just split up afterwards
Why, I agree. I much prefer things to be quiet, though. So, no skin off my nose. The man appears from thin air, leaning against the counter with a smile. How are you two gentlemen doing this fine evening, hm?
Yeah, I kind of went on my own. Not that I hate company of course, but I do enjoy some more alone, personal times. [Kazuya waves at the newly arrival, keeping his smile.] Oh, nothing really. Just taking a break after work and the like.
Gamma glances over at the green-haired man from the magic shop, this would be their second meeting, and again Gamma failed to notice him enter.... The young man shrugs, its far from the weirdest thing And on my part, well, this is my job. Bit slow perhaps, but it is what it is. With that, Gamma looks back and Kazuya, they are indeed mostly alone here, just them and the newer, green-haired guy. Gamma begins catching and tossing a small shard of ice Well, if you want quiet you've definitely come to the right place. I won't interrupt you if that's what you'd prefer. Just ask if you need anything.
No it's fine, I've been going from place to place and talking to a lot of people as well the past few days. It's a nice change of pace, you know? Being more active, just spending more time...having fun. [Kazuya fiddle with his hair a bit before turning to Gamma.] Why don't you tell me about life? I've said enough about me, even if it's not specific.
The man simply smiles at the both of them, Gamma in particular seems to pique his interests. Ah, to forge ahead in the cut throat world of business, independently even. Tell me, do you ever get truly fearful for this place's future?
(edited by -F-H-)
*A... well if not for how familiar she looks, she'd probably be a suspicious looking girl enters the cafe.* Ah the city. There's as many cafes as there are masked rider seasons.
Gamma sighs and closes his eyes for a moment, he never really bothered thinking about his situation too much. He catches the shard again, this time keeping hold of it in his hand as he speaks Afraid there's not much to talk about. For the most part I've simply been killing time. Visited a magic shop the other day, that's where I first met that guy. Gamma gestures over to the green-haired man, not that there could have been any confusion anyways, since there's only three people there. Overall my life's pretty unremarkable. Probably the closest thing to normal you'll find here. Speaking of the green-haired man, rather odd question for him to be asking, but its something at least. Gamma glances over to the man Not particularly no. I never really trouble myself to worry about it. The cafe gets along fine enough, especially when Quintus is here. If you were referring to the rest of the place, everything's fine regardless of whether or not I help out. However, it just occurred to me Gamma lightly tosses his ice shard toward the green-haired man, the ice is a bit colder than one might expect, but overall nothing spectacular We've still never actually introduced ourselves. You can call me Gamma, at least, that's what I ask people to do. Would you care to tell me your name? Gamma waves to the magic shop owner, hardly sparing her a glance as the others have most of his attention Hello, welcome to Java the Hutt and all that, don't hesitate to ask if you need anything. I'll get on it as soon as I can.

The man places a hand to his chin, covering a smile with it. Ah, at least you aren't fearful in that regard. It's respectable, but unfortunately not what I'm after. I've been introducing myself as the simple letters F.H. No need to remember it, there won't be anything left to remember soon. With that, he fades away, as if from existence itself.
Er.... Did that guy just disappear....?
So...what an interesting guy. You think he will try to pull something? [He asks Gamma in a very casual way. He had been checking some stuff in his COMP for a bit.]
Gamma sighs and shakes his head, the other two's acknowledgement confirming it wasn't a hallucination. So, the man shrugs and walks over to where F.H. was, picking his ice up off the floor Yes, yes he did miss Izumi. I know someone who could do the same sort of thing. He called it warping. Dunno if its related. Having picked up the shard, Gamma heads back to his place along the wall and begins casually tossing and catching it Honestly I don't really care if he does. I'm sure you and the others will be able to handle whatever comes up just fine. Guess that's a nice part of knowing about all this magic stuff. Someone always takes care of it.
[Kazuya lets out a loud sigh and lets his head hit the counter.] You know that's true, but thankfully nothing is happening right now. It's a bit of a hassle to go after some dangerous guy and after the next dangerous guy. [Kazuya's voice is muffled, and because of this he laughs very lazily.] Maybe this is new, and he just want to open a...birthday party service or something like that. Would be nice, actually.
Well that's weird. She'd take a moment to check her watch. Never be so sure nothing is happening. That could change at a moment's notice.
Pinky!!! Hey Hey! How are ya Radio Wave? Out of nowhere jumps out Aitome from the door, jumping into the Cafe with limitless energy and bright white eyes, shining with the brightness of the sun. She then turns towards the others and waves to them as well, before taking a seat So! What's with the somber mood? We should be happy! Come on!
I'm not somber, I'm happy But also lazy and tired. [Kazuya yawns as he raises his head to look at Aitome. He was tired now and his face showed this too much.] Don't be so loud, Aitome.
Gamma simply shrugs, yeah, fighting constantly would be a hassle for sure. Though, he looks at the ceiling when Kaz makes his joke Speaking of birthdays, mine's actually rather soon. Or well, dunno how we count it now. I kinda skipped over a month when I got here, so... Birthday's coming up, and I'm not even a year older. Gamma faintly chuckles, weird the minor inconveniences that come with the place... And then Aitome bursts in, he thought they were done with "Pinky". No matter, he keeps a straight face when adressing her My apologies, I'm no good at lightening a mood. Just pretend I'm hardly here. Unless you need anything of course. Serving people's kinda my job here. Gamma continues catching and tossing his ice from his spot behind the counter, occasionally glancing at the door just in case anything happens
(A 7'3 man kicks the Door open, hitting his head on the ceiling) ow....me head
Gahhh! This is no good! I suppose I'll try to calm down as well then! Hnng! Aitome then closes her eyes and they revert back to a dull color, scratching her head and taking a seat for good Geez, I suppose I got a little too excitable! Heh, I'll try to tone it down! Still though! Doing good always makes me a little over the top! Aitome then turns back to Gamma and gets an idea, forming a small amount of fire in her hands as she tries to zap the ice crystal he throws up and down So it's your birthday soon? That's neat! You should start letting people know! You never know when everything might end, so make the most of it! Aitome then turns to the freakishly tall man and gives them a small wave Hello there! I think I've seen you around? Not sure though! Good to see you here though!
Ay mate, I'm fine, and I'm pretty sure I accidentally drop kick ya one time (he says as he rubs his head and sits by aitome)
(edited by Reperzel)
Oh boy, the giant is here.... This place has been pretty quiet so far. I haven't even seen any.... contract peddlers around.
Huh? I thought I would have remembered that... Oh well! It's nothing important! Contract peddlers? Why would we have those? I don't ever remember needing to sign one of those. Are you sure you aren't getting yourself into something shady?
Yeah, after helping all those people I had a really nice feeling, warm and all. But it was also a bit heavy on the emotions. And I even confused Makoto with my mom after I...woke up. [Kazuya blushes for a moment before turning to Gamma once more.] Hey, you have ice cream or anything cold around here? It works for me when I feel embarrassed. [The young man would then fix his own hair as he sits straight up.]
(He then pulls out his banjo and plays it https://youtu.be/Sd1VJy--bEo
Sure enough Aitome hits, dissolving both the small feats into a bit of steam in Gamma's face. His eyes go wide with surprise, though he regains his composure in a moment, looking back through the steam with a sigh Its not like its anything special. Just another day for me really. With that, Gamma turns his attention to Zane, casting the taller boy a cold glare as he explains You might have seen him if you watch news. Zane here has a bit of a criminal record. Mind you, so long as you don't try to pull anything I won't care about that. Just be careful. Next, Gamma raises an eyebrow, turning to Izumi Contract peddlers? Afraid I haven't seen anything like that for months. But based on your tone I guess its a recent trend? Long as they don't do anything dramatic in here I don't really care. Finally, Gamma shrugs and walks over to the refrigerator, though he doesn't remember adding much, and surely enough he doesn't find anything frozen, just various ingredients and creamers. Having checked, he looks back at Kaz I serve chilled versions of any item on the menu, but I'm afraid I don't have anything cold specifically. Or of course we could always try the direct approach, I don't mind something mundane like that
Mate, I'm trying ta change, I have no fuckin' clue where ta start...but ya know..
Well they exist back home, but... the kind here are actually dangerous. And... someone I know might have gotten wrapped up in them. And if you're trying to change, Mr. Giant, then keep at it. It'll eventually work out. Or not.
Well of course! Everyone was kinda exhausted from what we went through! But despair and I aren't pals! I rather befriend hope! I mean that literally! Honestly though if its a bit much you should take a break! Try not to feel too bad! *Aitome smiles as she hits the target, this might be something she has to keep up if she can get reactions like that out of the stoical icelord Come on! It only comes once a year! You gotta break out of your shell! Even if it's just a small thing, if it's from you it means a lot! Some of us won't get to see another year... I know er.. Lux didn't... *Aitome then seems to soften up around the subject of Lux, getting quieter and more serious. However, she tries to keep up a cheerful attitude around the others You just have to change! Start doing good deeds and the rest will come will naturally! Eh? You'll have to go more in depth! But don't worry! If it comes down to it I! Aitome Korichi will change your fate! You can count on it!

With my luck, it ain't gonna work probably, also names Zane, Zane Thomas Mayhew, but most people call me rep
(edited by Reperzel)
In that case just give me the usual. I still need to think about stuff. [Kazuya chuckles.] You know, girls complicate stuff a lot for me these days.
Gamma sighs and briefly brings out another shard of ice. He thinks better of tossing it again and instead focuses on Izumi. Nothing but trouble if you ask me. The man shrugs But still, it is their choice to make. If they think they can handle it, who am I to..... Gamma freezes up at the mention of Lux, He pauses for a good ten seconds before actually doing anything, he takes a deep breath, and clenches his fist around the small shard from earlier. Of course, he's not an idiot. He hasn't seen Lux in months, its no surprise if something happened, but its best to be sure... I'm sorry, what did you say about Lux? Gamma gazes out the window, he doesn't seem to have heard Kaz at the moment. If nothing else he can wait a little bit. Not that its anything new after all.
C'mon mate, we all now ya gonna break down like a baby....did I say something?
[Kazuya blinks for a couple of seconds at the reaction Gamma had. Indeed, it happened long ago but how couldn't he have heard about it. Kazuya then turns to look at Aitome once more before turning to Gamma. He would then rubs the back of his head awkwardly at what might occur.]
I suppose so. Still, I'm trying my best to keep her safe. It's the one future I care about ensuring happens. She blinks at Gamma's sudden stoppage of... well, everything. Are... you okay?
Nnngh... D-do you have to make me spell it out... You know that I was close to him as well... He's dead Gamma... For good... During Christmas on that tower, he basically sacrificed his own soul to save us from death. Even before that he used up everything he had to prevent Pride from burning the Nexus... Aitome tries to stay strong but it still hurts a little, especially seeing her friend in such disarray, thinking of anything she could try to do. But knowing it would fall on deaf ears, taking a look at Kaz and gulping, she brought this upon herself. This was something she had to fix, and by the look of it, Kaz and Gamma weren't exactly buddy-buddy. All three of us tried to help him right? Me, you and Tatsu. We tried our best, but it didn't amount to anything. But that doesn't mean you can wallow here Gamma! Don't push us away! Even if it's not for us, do it for Lux. I don't wanna see you hurt. You are my friend after all.
Well...here comes the serious part's.... Woo
Gamma immediately glares at Zane following his remark. With a frustrated sigh, he practically spits out the words, a hint of actual anger in his words I'm not some petulant child. Unlike you, I actually have some concept of self-control. Its really not hard to avoid being a criminal, most call it being a decent human being. That's all there is to it. He takes a deep breath and listens to Aitome, keeping a tight grip on the shard in his hand. Towards the end, a slight cracking sound can be heard, followed by a crunch as his fist closes around the piece. Finally, after Aitome says her piece, Gamma looks over to her, cold eyes looking staring into her own Are you making fun of me? I'm well aware of how much we tried to help. I'm well aware that it all turned out to be useless, like you just finished telling me. I've never pushed you or anyone else away, not even sure where you got that idea. But I'm fine. Gamma sighs and opens his hand, to reveal a the crushes shard, a few of its shattered pieces dug into his skin, leaving a faint coating of red over his palm After all, its just another failure.
Listen, mate, just cuz someone died, don't moan bout it for for god knows how long, last summer a family member of mine died, but do you see me whine bout it?, no.
(edited by Reperzel)
Gr... Aitome feels a metaphorical knife being jabbed into her as Gamma speaks the hard truth, digging it in deeper and deeper as he twists it into her. Aitome's face having a pained expression. Struggling to find the right words before snapping back with fire burning in her eyes to meet Gamma's cold ones I-I'M NOT! You just worry me! Whenever I see you, you always seem so distant and cold! I can never tell what your thinking! You always say your fine! But that's never the case is it?!? It's not a failure unless you look at it that way! He saved us in exchange for his life! Don't you forget that! Aitome then notices how she's yelling and backs off, losing the ferocity in her eyes as she looks to the ground. ... Why do you do this Gamma... Why does it always have to be this way? All this fighting and arguing...
ooc: BTW the family member dieing actually happened last summer
(edited by Reperzel)
Gamma lets Aitome shout, she deserves that much at least. However, his expression never changes. He keeps a mostly straight fact, his opinions to himself. Once her outburst is over... The young man sighs, picking the last shards out of his hand and letting them shatter against the ground I don't fight. I've never argued. All I do is be honest. I say exactly what I mean, and how I see it. No more, no less. But no one ever understands that. I guess they just don't want to think about it. I mean, surely not everyone's that blind, right? Gamma looks back up at Aitome, eyes empty and unwavering.... If this weren't his establishment he'd have probably walked away by now, alas, he is at least more responsible than that. That's really all there is to it I'm afraid. We wanted to help Lux. Now he's dead. That's what I call failing overall. Of course, you can still see it however you want, but to me, well, that's what happened. We failed.
Aitome retreats even more back into her own world. It hurt because it was true. Maybe it was just her fault. But still. She had a obligation to answer back Even if it is true.. Can't you at least... Try to help the other person? You make it out like it was all our fault... You don't have to rub salt into the wound.. Nobody wants to understand as it hurts too much... You say these things like your a soulless beast. Everyone wants to stay blind if it hides the grim reality we truly live in. Nobody wants to remember that we fight gods on a daily basis. That we could all die without a second to spare. There's a reason why I won't look at it as a failure. Because nothing we could have done would have changed it. If it was going to end like that, then at least we can try to have a somewhat good ending... Aitome then goes silent as she braces mentally, Gamma was harsh. No way around it. But maybe, just maybe she can make him budge even if its just a little before leaving
At that moment a familiar young man would enter the cafe. His expression would be passive and blank as he seems to be distracted by thought. He would look up as he enters as if unsure of what was going on. "Uh, am I interrupting something? I could maybe come back later..."
Gamma pauses for a moment, its obvious how much it bothers Aitome, if nothing else. The ice largely melted, Gamma steps off the wall and walks out from behind the counter Maybe you're right. Maybe I am a soulless beast. Or some other sort of monster. Gamma looks sideways at Aitome as he steps by, heedless of the others around I know full well that there was nothing I could do. Its nothing new. Like I've said before, everything gets along just fine, regardless of what I do. That's part of why I try not to be bothered by it. Those who look closely might notice his right eye begin to water up before he turns away, opening the door with one final remark. Just one thing. Monsters like me don't get good endings. That's a luxury for the likes of Kazuya and you. Oh, and do be polite and avoid crashing here. Would be awkward for Quintus to.... Gamma passes by Quintus, tears in his eyes. His timing couldn't have been better, Gamma takes the keys to the place out of his pocket, and tosses them to Quintus You're right on time. The place is yours now, sell it, keep it, no matter to me. I did leave instructions for all of the items on the menu, since your phone is rather old, so I think you'll catch on quick. Without further ado, the young man exits the cafe, and walks onto the city streets
Quintus would watch Gamma as he leaves while catching the keys. "What...? Gamma-" He would be interrupted by him exiting the cafe as he just looks around confused. "Is he ok? What happened?" He would continue looking to the door unsure of what to do next. He had never seen Gamma cry at anything before even when he was faced with possible death. He barely thought anything could even phase him yet he was far more upset then he even thought possible.
No! J-just hang on! I'm not done ye- Aitome grunts and tries to follow Gamma, but realises it's too late, sitting back down into her chair before slamming her fist onto the counter, red with anger, determination, and something else. Leaving drops of blood from how hard she's squeezing D-damn it... I'll find some way to fix this... I thought I changed your fate already Gamma but it looks like there is still work to be done... I haven't given up on you yet... Even monsters can change. I know I did. So why can't you? ... Aitome then gets up and looks to Quin, giving him a look of... Nothing, before leaving the cafe to go her own way
[Kazuya just sits there, having heard all of it and leaning against the counter. He really wished he hadn't but there he was. Now Gamma left in a rush and for some reason there was a debate there. He had his opinions regarding what was said but he kept them to himself for the moment.] Must be hard. Being a teenager. [Kazuya sighs as he covers his face with the palms of his hand. Aitome didn't think what she was saying and Gamma, contrary to what he was saying, was a bit too disconnected from reality, especially when it came to "everyone else's" faults to him. He wanted to relax, not get annoyed at petty arguments.] I should cut his some slack, he just found out his friend died... [Kazuya would then stand up and leave the cafe.] See ya Aitome, hey Quin, also bye Quin.
