A Paradoxical Enigma
It's GYM. The very same establishment that all come to in order to vent frustrations, practice skills, or simply have a chat while training. The distinct difference is found upon opening the door. A strange figure stands before you in a blue themed suit, and there seems to be a lack of any other personnel. Odd. Behind him is a elevator. There's nothing heinous about his demeanor, simply an air of anticipation. "Took you long enough, I was getting bored here waiting for someone to show up. Now that you're here, how about a little game? You solve a puzzle, with me, and I have some fun! Not a bad deal, eh?" The words ring in your ears for a moment and it seems as though there really isn't any ill will in their words. You feel a tremendous amount of pressure however. Should you play their game, it would be with their rules and no exceptions. What do you do? The nature of this thread, and that of the sister thread, is to have separate groups take on different challenges. With this in mind, please choose which thread you would like to partake in and remain solely in that thread. Thank you.
Luard had been hoping to find another pair of.... Interesting individuals practicing, yet this was somehow far stranger a result. The cloaked man opens the door with a sigh, before stepping up to the blue-suited figure I suppose I can assist you, so long as you can make it worth my while. I had not the highest hopes for my time anyways. That being said, Luard would soon draw a tablet out from under his cloak and begin typing on it, likely to take some sort of notes, or at least in preparation of such
The figure in blue seems to shrug his shoulders. "Man, that's it? I was told this place was real active at this time... Say... You wait there a minute, and once you've got a buddy buddy to make this thing nice 'n' fun, we'll head out. OK?" The suited person taps their foot impatiently.
The blue figure lets out an exasperated sigh. "Come on! I really don't have all day to wait around. Bring on the challengers! And here I thought this place was supposed to be interesting." The azure clad man idly begins making subtle hand motions in anticipation.
OOC: I know that feel bro
aye, tis a bad feel
A man in a blue shirt with a green cloak wanders into the area, he'd glance around for a moment before walking up toward the blue-suited fellow with a curious expression on his face. "I hear this is going to be some stripe of challenge yes? I'm not sure on the details, but I am rather bored at the moment... I do believe I shall take part in whatever game you have planned." With that, he'd absently pull out a game system of some kind and stare down at it. Who knows what this is, but he plans to be ready for whatever comes. Now and then he'd look up to the door, then Para-DX, he's clearly not liking the standing around. But what's there to do about it?
Luard briefly glances up from his tablet, for some reason it feels like he's been waiting almost a week. Nevertheless, the dark cloaked figure sighs and returns his attention to the device, as though he's still waiting
Parad sighs a long and drawn out sigh. "You all took your sweet time getting here. This place is supposed to be full to the brim of idiotic pugilists lusting for a fight, and all I get is two people! Tsk tsk!" Parad wiggles his finger in a disapproving manner. "Oi, make sure your pal over there hasn't gone and fallen asleep on us, eh? I figured this puzzle is best for at least two people, so try and live up to my expectations. You do that, and we'll all have a really fun time!"
(edited by Kamen_Rider_Para-DX)
Puzzle hmm? Not what he would expect from GYM, but it should be a nice change of pace from the usual. He'd walk up toward Parad, and shoot Luard a quick look. "Alright then, Color me interested in this idea... Hmm, you still there Coat Man? If so, I do believe it's time to get this show on the road."
Luard sighs and steps off a nearby wall, glancing around at his companions. He briefly glances at Naoya's own device, before ultimately deciding it was of little interest, instead he approaches Parad Been here the whole time. Starting to regret not installing much of anything. Feels like it took forever
Parad shrugs indignantly. He leads the two to the elevator which was positioned behind him. He kicks the wall beside it and the doors shudder open. "It may not look it, but this is a pretty safe ride. If anything, take the time to get yourselves acquainted. Working together is probably the only way you'll get past this puzzle of mine. Probably." He steps in awaiting the two after him. As soon as they board he presses the only other button inside the chamber. Aside from being a tad cleaner than expected, it provides ample room for the three as they descend.
Naoya would walk into the elevator and look at Luard's device... Hmm, is he perhaps a summoner as well? If so, odd make of COMP he's using. "Get acquainted hmm? I'm not much for those sorts of things on short notice. But I can't help being curious about that tablet, is it simply normal tech, or does there happen to be more than meets the eye here?" He'd smirk a bit at his last statement, and look down at his own COMP. One might assume that his device is such a case from the way he acts, and correctly so at that. But, Naoya's just curious on if Luard will pick up such a thing.
Last but not least, Luard finally stores his tablet away within his cloak, offering a brief glint of silver from within as he does so, before following Parad and Naoya into the elevator. Luard leans against one of the elevator walls and looks up at Naoya Its almost entirely ordinary, I altered the programming with my own code to make it almost impossible to decipher, but I haven't made a single modification since. Unfortunately this also rendered it unable to download apps. I hadn't anticipated having to wait, so it didn't seem like a problem Luard briefly follows Naoya's eyes to his own COMP, before shrugging, technology isn't really his specialty, yet it looks like it at the very least uses an ordinary power source, and thus is of little interest
Almost as soon as Luard stepped in, the doors closed. Thus began a rapid descent into the unknown. The elevator seemed to be dropping so fast that the occupants began to float. Abruptly, it began slowing, not violently, but enough to be noticeable. It gently sets down and stops at the destination, which appears to be a large white room with a single button on the opposite end. Parad himself exits first, and stands by the door. "There's your objective. Pretty simple. Push that button, and we'll go on to the next stage! If you get stuck, come to me and if I'm feeling generous I'll give a hint." From... somewhere... he retrieves a small portable gaming console, and squats to play it beside the elevator.
Naoya would slowly walk out the doors and look around the room, he's betting that this whole thing isn't nearly so simple as it first appears. And would carefully examine the entire place for traps, walls, roof, floor, even the button itself. Assuming he's fairly sure nothing looks off, the man would then continue onward closer to their goal. "For some reason, I don't expect things to be as simple as they appear, you did say it's a puzzle after all... And that we would likely need to work with each other, hmm. I wonder."
As Naoya approaches the button, it seems to grow twice the distance he'd traveled toward it. The room itself extending. Parad simply chuckles. "Yeah, you're right on that part. Like I said, you'll PROBABLY need to work together, pool your knowledge and all that. Though it'd be just as easy for one of you to solve it and complete it if your partner is incompetent." As the sound of an obvious level clear, Parad lets out a quiet exclamation of joy.
(edited by Kamen_Rider_Para-DX)
Luard just barely steps out of the elevator after Naoya, before stepping to the left to get just out of the doorway. Assuming nothing happens, Luard would begin drawing a pair of circles, with various runic symbols between them. Once finished, Luard would thrust his palm into the middle and send out a faint sonic pulse. Much like sonar, it would go throughout the room and bounce off any potential invisible objects, or simply the walls, before returning to Luard with a vague idea of their location Its probably a trap, or a joke, we'll see soon enough.
All Luard receives is the vague outline of the button, everything else is as it seems. "Seriously, me? Joke? That's when it'd be a trap!"
So the thing moves away from them if they get closer to it? How strange, and oh my the man in a coat has magic of some kind. Perhaps Naoya will deign to use his own spells, but this hardly seems like the thing they're good for. "Yes, the thought had crossed my mind as well. Though it moving away from us is... Quite the puzzle. Doubtful to be a simple trick of the light, though perhaps some sort of illusion? Or maybe the space before us really is stretching out as I attempt to get closer?" Naoya would begin walking away from the button and looking over his shoulder, such a thing seems too obvious to be the answer. But if moving forward only takes him further, then there's no reason he shouldn't try the reverse and see what happens.
Luard sighs and steps away from the wall, his first thought had been invisible maze, its somewhat of a relief to be proven wrong there. Watching Naoya's attempts, Luard has some idea he said it was likely to require both of us, so for now, I believe this would be a worthwhile experiment While Naoya walks away from the button, Luard would begin to walk towards it, simply to see what happens
As Naoya walks back, indeed the button reverts to its original space, only as far as he walked back. Upon reaching the wall, the button simply stops at its space of origin. However, as soon as Naoya reached the wall, the button changes colors from its original blank grey, to a bright red. "Oho! Looks like one of you has capable motor functions! I should have accounted for that!" As Luard walks toward the button, it stays in place. Not moving at all, a quick walk would let him arrive at it.
(edited by Kamen_Rider_Para-DX)
Luard briefly glances back to his companion, looks like their idea worked, to some extent, regardless, as he's already at the button, Luard goes ahead and presses it Very well, I suppose it is time to move on to the next one then.
Parad laughs, quite loudly. "WRONG! I didn't tell you to press THAT button! Get back to work! Next time call me when you actually figure it out."
"I see, so with me at the wall it becomes something else entirely, let us see what happens if I move forward a bit then?" The man would do just that, walking toward the button, but stopping as soon as he sees it shift color once more... He's also curious what will happen to Luard, but it can't be anything too awful. Not would he care much if it were.
(edited by Naoya-)
Nothing happens upon the button being pressed, save for the color of the entire room shifting to a red hue, the button itself seems to slide along the wall, all the way around the room, arriving shortly above Parad's head. It becomes gray. "For me? Sorry, but I'm not gonna press it for you guys!" Even given Naoya's proximity to Parad, any motion would slide the button, and Parad, farther away.
As Luard is already by the far wall, he wouldn't really have the option of moving any further, instead, Luard puts his hand along the wall, tracing along the wall where he saw the button moving while walking silently towards the button's current position
Naoya simply watches and waits for now, observing Luard as the man attempts to walk along the wall... There's clearly some trick here, but he's not quite sure what yet.
The moment Luard reaches an alternate wall, the button changes shades to green, and movement is once more possible toward the button. The trail the button followed lights up green, and the far wall from the elevator becomes green, contrasting the red that fills the rest of the walls. "Getting warmer! Come on! Put those brain cells you should have to work!"
"Green? We need grey though... I just wonder." Naoya would look toward the far wall from the elevator, perhaps if he attempts to move along that wall it would cause another shift? "Only one of the walls is green, I suscept that interacting with it might do something. Seems a worthwhile experiment to me, if nothing else."
Luard looks over at the walls, the one he was previously on changed color, interesting. Their host said "push that button", but he never actually said what the button was or where, they merely assumed it was the one against the far wall, he's been making vague.... Encouragement? Sort of anyways. Regardless, Luard walks across the room to the one wall that hasn't been touched yet, and reaches out for it There's obviously some trick here, we have already interacted with the green wall, though something may have changed. i would rather see about the unknown
As Luard touches the other wall, the trail seems to be coated in a thin icy substance, which bursts to change the color to a blue streak. The back wall has now shifted to become blue, as has the button. "Y'know, blue is my favorite color."
Hmm, true enough. And that shifts it to blue? Hmm, is it also possible to reverse the effect by touching the same wall? Or maybe another wall would undo things... Naoya attempts to move closer to the button once again. "Hmm, perhaps it's possible to reset things to grey by using them again? I'm not entirely sure, but it seems like one person staying near it and the other trying to set it back to the one we need might be worth trying." Assuming he got close, Naoya would take his place right in front of the button, this plan also seems too simple. But there's no reason it must be overly complex.
OOC: One question about the button, is it raised out of the wall in any way, or impressed into the wall so no part of the button comes over the boundary
Naoya arrives promptly at the button, Parad's mask hides whatever emotion he's displaying, but he certainly seems pretty nonchalant about whatever he's doing. "Come on, I haven't got all day! Well, I do, but I'm impatient y'know?"
The button sticks out of the wall, roughly three inches.
Considering that the button became grey once more when the far wall was touched, it is likely that was part of the puzzle, however, this also made the room untraversable. For now, Luard decides to shout over to Naoya Stand over right next to our host and the button, make sure you're almost pushing it. In fact, you can go ahead and push once as an experiment if you wish. The important thing is to be touching it, preferably along the side, just as a safety precaution. his order given, Luard walks towards the back wall, he wouldn't touch it yet, instead waiting for Naoya to follow his instruction before doing so. After all, no need to try it if there's any space to stretch
Naoya would do just that, it does seem like a decent idea... And while it's possible it could have some adverse effect, he's betting it won't get him killed for cheating or something of the like, given how no rules were mentioned that would be rather in poor taste. "Of course, I see no reason not to attempt this. All about getting our options figured out after all."
Even grazing the button sends it sliding along to the wall it hadn't yet touched, where it sits, gray. This time it leaves an icy trail, almost indicating which color it desires. However, that wall that triggered said color is the one that the button lay on. "This part's a doozy let me tell you! Here, may as well give you a hint. Don't try and get it all at once. Some of the greatest things in life require many actions."
For now, Luard watches the button for a moment, they cannot approach the blue wall for now, so instead he will simply have to try all of the others. Initially he pauses, our colors are red, green, grey, and an unreachable blue. Unfortunately none of the other colors combine to make blue, but for the sake of experiment, Luard walks over to the wall that turned part of the room green I would like to see what happens if we touch two different walls at the same time, so if you would count down from three. Luard prepares to reach out and touch the wall on the count of three, perhaps if they touch different walls at the same time something interesting will happen, it can't hurt to try
Naoya walks toward the wall which had made the room red. "One, two, three!" At the count, the man would reach out and touch the wall. He's not too sure what this will do, but it does indeed seem worth looking into as of right now.
Since it is quite impossible to press both at the same time, given human error, sound travel times, etc. whoever touched the wall the longest would change the button to said color, be it red or green. The button is now approachable.
It was an experiment worth trying, though it may not have succeeded, such is science. Once his silent mourning is over, Luard would walk over to the blue wall, careful to touch the wall itself before attempting to hit the button again
The button changes to blue, and remains approachable. Parad looks up from his game, taking note of the situation.
Naoya simply watches for now, not much to be done at the moment from what he can see... Hmm, perhaps there's something of an order that things must be done in? The man did say that it might take many steps.
With that final change, Luard sighs and finally tries to push the button. Should be simple, right?
As Luard presses the button, the wall changes to blue, matching the other two. The button travels to the final red wall. It is gray.
"Hmm, do we think that this is it? I guess we might as well find out now..." The man walks toward the button and attempts to press it, he's not getting his hopes up. But it's at least worth a shot if nothing else.
Naturally, the button seems to move away at a pace unable to be matched. "Really? This late into the game and you think the rules would change?"
There's a glint in the man's eyes as he looks down toward his COMP, part of him wants to simply kill the blue-suited one and be done with it. But then again, that's admitting defeat. Even so, he's not bothering to respond to Parad. "Hmm, that seems to have gotten us nowhere so far. Well, I'm rather short on ideas for this at the moment, yourself?"
(Suddenly, a 7'3 snake centipede hybrid is behind naoya) ...you. (He says in a violent, aggressive way, hissing violently)
(edited by Reperzel)
Luard sighs and simply touches the blue wall again, it seems like they merely needed to color it before progression would be allowed
As Luard touches the wall, the button becomes blue once more. It is approachable.
"Oh my, How on did you get in here? Well, given the tone in your voice I'm assuming our last meeting taught you nothing Rep. Very well, I guess that I can teach you once again." In a blur of motion, the man would tap a few buttons on his COMP and swivel around to face Rep, as he looks into the beast's eyes, it would be met with the magic of '"Stone Eyes". Naoya's spell would quickly take effect, and shift the snake-centipede being into a statue. With that, he dusts his hands off and walks toward the wall that the button stands on, he'd tap that one and then look around again. "Hmm, there's something we're missing here. But I'll be damned if I'm aware of exactly what that is right now."
I REMEMBER WHAT YA DID AND I. WILL.KILL.Y- (but, he immidnatly stops when he's turned into stone)
Parad claps his hands together, somewhat mockingly. "I hope you know there aren't any bonus points for pest extermination, right?"
now that the button is blue again, Luard silently walks over to push it, sounds like they need to make the whole room one color, at least from what he can tell
As the last wall shatters into an icy blue, the center-points of each wall emit a beam of blue light, which the button travels along. The beams meet in the center, forming an icy pillar. The button arrives atop it, and becomes gray, as does the pillar. It would seem that it has nowhere to go. "For the record, I always believed in you! Your ability to walk to and from places astounds me!"
Luard briefly looks up at the pillar, looks like they're at the simplest part, but not necessarily one he would wish to do. He is far from the most physically fit being, climbing a pillar doesn't seem like the most enjoyable way to spend half an hour, instead he shouts over to his companion Naoya Make yourself useful and push that will you? I think you ought to do something after all
"Hmm, I guess I can do that... Behold, my demons." With a few presses upon his COMP, a flash of light would appear and a giant fly forms in front of the man. He hops onto it's back and attempts to fly toward the button, assuming it works, he'd press the damn thing finally.
As the button is pressed, the pillar shatters, and the button flies to Parad. He takes it in his hand, and briefly surveys it. "You all went quite a ways to get this damn thing, so I guess you must be wanting to vent those frustrations, right? No need to answer, I can tell by your eyes. Welp!" He crushes the button in his hand, and cracks his knuckles. From his belt a plethora of various coins, or medals, emerge to rest inside the now deep blue room. "I'm the next stage! ... that sounded better in my head, but whatever! My heart's dancing!" Brace for battle. He looks serious.
(Suddenly, the stone begins to crack, and rep jumps out, alive again) AHAH!, YOU THINK I DONT KNOW YA TRICKS, THIS TIME, I WILL DEFEAT YOU!
The man smirks and taps a few more buttons on his COMP, at this point, a large bird-like creature would appear behind him and take one glance at Rep, the being quickly rushes above Rep and fires a huge blast of Almighty energy down at the fool. Meanwhile, Naoya would leap off his demon and fire a quick wave of flames toward Parad. "Alright then, I guess we can start this dance... From what I've seen so far, it won't be as simple as a normal fight! But I guess I'll figure things out as I go from here." The giant fly would attempt to take a point in front of Parad. It glares at the man in blue, and as Naoya's wave of flames rushes toward him, the fly would send a huge wave of wind behind them that mixes in with the man's attack. By the time it reaches Parad, it'd be a towering whirlwind of flames.
Luard sighs and takes a few steps back, if there's going to be a fight, he'll want to end it quickly. Glancing around, it seems his companion has beings of considerable energy with him. Good, that'll relieve some of the effort. For now, Luard begins drawing a pair of magic circles, much larger than the ones used for sonar earlier, these circles would cover most of the air in front of Luard, and glow a faint red. Most of the runes between them would be seemingly meaningless, however, there is one that unmistakably resembles a wildfire, and a few more seeming to form the links of some chain I do hope you know what you're doing. Fighting humans is so wasteful
Parad begins to raise his hand toward the heavens, but he is struck by the whirlwind of flames. It creates a large cloud that blocks most vision, but when it clears, Parad is revealed standing unharmed. The area above him is formed into a grid of the tokens that came out of his belt. He swaps several around, and draws two to him. [MUSCLE UP!] [SPEED UP!] "Come on! I know you guys have more than THAT!" Parad leaps forward with inhuman speed, becoming a blur, he rushes to punch Luard directly in the stomach.
Oh sh- (The blast sends him flying. But quickly recovers) OHOH, THIS IS GONNA GET FUN! (With that, he then drills underground, and bursts underground right under the bird, and spinning incredibly fast, allowing to drill right through the bird)
Parad would rush straight at Luard in an attempt to strike his stomach, of course, with the circles' positioning between them, he would have to get through them first. Though Parad likely tried striking the open space in the middle, he would come upon a barrier as he strikes the magic circles, only for them to shatter and disintegrate into dust. However, this gives Luard the chance to draw out a long, silver blade from beneath his cloak, Luard simply slashes horizontally with the blade, swinging at Parad in hopes of at least making him back up I would suggest guarding the support. I'm a researcher by trade, not a fighter. I'd rather avoid this whole mess if I could
Considering that the bird is a damn bird, in the air, with demonic powers, it's not quite as easily hit as Rep would hope for. It is, however, able to take the fact that Rep is now in the air after it's dodge as a chance for free reign, it would quickly grab hold of the thing in its talons and begin crushing Rep. "Crap... So then, these icons can be used to enhance yourself hmm? I wonder if we might be able to partake of their aid!?" Naoya's fly would attempt to hold Parad back, namely by shooting a quick spear of Almighty magic in between him and Luard. There's no telling if the attack will hit, but it'll hopefully slow him down a bit. The man himself would stare at the icons, they appear to be something from a video game, and he'd look for ones that seem as if they're likely to be buffs. Assuming he found some, he'd grab one and see what it does. "Aye, I'm more of a long-range attacker than anything though. Still, my demons should be able to keep the heat off you to an extent." It's shot at Parad made, the thing would rush down toward the ground and attempt to slam it's body into the man in blue, it's hoping to get between them at the moment. No telling how that goes though... Not with what those little power ups were.
OWOWOWOWOW, FUCK (he then bites the birds legs with neurotoxin, allowing him to and use the non-curshing part of his body, a.k.a, his tail, to smack the bird, which feels like if a whip where made of steel)
(edited by Reperzel)
None of the tokens seem to do Naoya any good. They seem entirely independent of anything he's likely dealt with. As for his spear, Parad dodges out of the way with his enhanced speed, leaving the spear traveling headlong toward nothing. Luard's sword has similarly no effect, essentially bouncing off of Parad. "I'll give you some more time to figure this out, before I go all out!" Parad rushes to the opposite side of the room, and simply begins toying with his grid once more. Dragging tokens away from the corners, he snaps his fingers, and another pair falls to him, as the light given to him by the others fades. [JUMP UP!] [RUBBERIZE!]
(edited by Kamen_Rider_Para-DX)
OOC: Sorry, it seems to be getting rather late for me, is there any chance we could finish later? EDIT: Very well, lets hear Naoya's suggestion first then, as my schedule can be flexible at times. If nothing else I have a break coming up next week
(edited by Luard)
Perhaps. Confirm a time with your ally, as I will likely meet it.
"Hmm, well that's of no use... I see that you are quite powerful Parad, but let's see how these ideas go." In contrast to the brute force attacks of before, Naoya would send a wave of magical agression toward Parad, he'd feel a compelling desire to rush and focus his attacks upon Naoya at this point. The fly lord on the other hand, waves its limbs about and a slight shimmer would cover Naoya's skin. Tetrakarn to be exact, if Parad struck the man physically, it'd be sent flying back at him, once. "Garuda! Deal with that idiot snake quickly please!" The bird is somehow unaffected by Rep's toxins, it's nulling of "Mystic" effects extends to venoms and poisons after all. The rushing tail, however, does hurt a good deal, and the beast would roar with rage before attempting to fly right at Rep's head in a blur of speed and bite it off, devouring the thing with a happy gulp if it did so. I'm good with Monday if it needs to be started early, I'll have work till then, however. Soonest I can start when working is 10 CST on Friday or Saturday, otherwise, it's... Right about the time, it is now, would be when I get off.
OOC: I can do late Saturday, or starting about 2PM Mountain Time on Monday. whichever is more convenient for our host
monday it is
Alright fellas let get back to work, of course once you're both here.
I'm ready whenever.
OOC: sorry, minor family emergency, getting a car started. Will be back in like 30
When you return write up your post, then I'll take over.
Luard pauses for a moment and takes a deep breath, earlier he wanted them to change the walls from red to blue, if this fight is another puzzle, the obvious solution... Well, its worth trying anyways. Luard shouts his words of encouragement Continue serving as a distraction if you would, I believe it would be easier to solve without someone breathing down my neck. With that, Luard edges his way around the room, attempting to get to the original wall near the elevator, which originally turned the room red.
Parad begins to wind up a left hook, which actually wraps around him in a spin top fashion. He lets it loose and thus launches himself in a whirlwind at Naoya. This would indeed send him flying back, but with the rubberization still in effect, he flies back at Naoya once again with just as much force. "I don't get why you bother taking aggro, it just give me more time to wail on you!" Even if Luard makes it to the previous wall, nothing seems to happen.
Tfw you lose a post because the site goes down as you try to make it. Had to rewrite. Naoya would mutter a curse as the reflected attack simply rushes toward him again thanks to being rubber, it crashes into the man's chest and sends him flying back into a wall... But there's still a slight smirk on his face. "Well, now that our intruder who wanted me dead is gone, I guess I can focus a bit better. Bufudyne." A large chunk of ice would take shape in the man's hands, and for a moment it seems to fly toward Parad as a simple projectile attack, instead, however, a blast of flames fired by Beelzebub quickly slams into it. The two things would clash for a moment before fire melts ice, and leaves behind a large could of hot steam that would cover Parad, hopefully leaving the man unable to see. At that moment, Garuda would aim its path toward the Rider, hoping to fly around to his back and quickly dart down into the steam. It would rush at him from behind, darting toward the last place it had seen Parad and trying to grab hold of him in its talons. If it succeeded, the bird demon would begin trying to crush the Rider with all its might and fly toward Naoya. If it missed, the being would instead flap its wings at Parad, a large gust of force flying toward the man and clearing away the cloud of steam.
Luard sighs, he hadn't expected much, yet somehow he's still disappointed, regardless, its clear that Parad won't give him the time for one of his bigger spells. So, for now Luard simply channels a smaller circle in front of his right arm, a set of jagged runes running along the side
It seems the bird demon itself had not the desired effect, as Parad simply allows himself to be caught. As the bird begins to crush Parad, he lets loose a large burst of some unknown energy, which should allow him to be free from the bird demon, but if the bird uses a force attack on him, it would leave him slightly worse for wear than the other attacks thus far. "This is so exciting, you've really got my heart dancing!" He begins to shuffle the tokens about once more, this time at a much faster pace. [REFLECT! EMISSION!] Mere seconds after he takes the tokens into himself, a small shimmer is noticed about him, before he completely is consumed in a blinding light.
Naoya would fiddle about with his COMP some, swapping his skills out to... Tetrakarn, Zandyne, and finally Debilitate. That's all he's got time for however. The giant fly would simply toss another reflective barrier, this time onto Luard, just in case. Finally, the bird demon flaps up into the air once more, it would screech loudly as a dark green light covers Parad, Sukunda's power would hopefully leave the Rider feeling slower and less accurate.
For now, Luard closes his eyes, continuing his work from memory, a voice announced "reflect" which means he might be prepared to turn incoming attacks against their owner, with that in mind, Luard overwrites some of the jagged runes with a roaring flame before thrusting his palm in the center and announcing Voltic Blaze. His spell complete, Luard sends a single bolt of lightning into the ground at the foot of where he last saw Parad. After striking, the lightning bolt would leave a spot of fire, which burns in spite of the lack of any fuel in the area. Depending on if the floor is conductive or not, the electricity might travel through the area
The lightning strikes him, but is sent directly back toward Luard, along with the residual fire, which as the fire spreads about Parad, he laughs quite loudly. He begins to step toward it willingly. "Honestly, what was your goal there? I don't know what the word "Reflect" means to you, but obviously it doesn't make you think to not attack me!" Parad shuffles more tokens, almost at a breakneck pace. He pulls down three this time. SPEED UP! INVISIBLE! SEPARATION! The original Parad fades into oblivion, as five more take his place. Three charge Naoya directly, two of which have a sparking foot to each of them. The foot seems a point of extra danger. Two charge Luard, one going for a headlong tackle, the other winding up a left hook. From some unknown place, as his voice echoes about the room, Parad talks in a condescending voice. "You guys aren't very bright, so survive this and I'll concede defeat. I've got a partner y'see, and he's been done for quite some time, and the boredom HAS to be killing him! Do your best, you might very well need it!"

"Reflect" means don't send an attack..... Luard's circle remains active as his own attack arcs towards him, Luard shifts the circle, expanding it slightly so that his lightning strikes the center of his spell Unless you're prepared to use it. The lightning bolt disappears into Luard's circle, changing its color from a blazing red to an electric yellow. With a grin, Luard twists his hand and announces Voltic Pulse Now, a wave of electric energy emanates from the circle, much as Luard's scanning pulses had earlier, forming a near-solid wave of electricity, not only at the two Parad's charging him, but soon to wash over the entire room
He can deal with a barrage like this, not easily, but he can to be sure. The giant fly tosses the last of its magic onto Naoya, one final shield to block a single blow. It would also charge one of the Parads with a sparking foot, aiming to slam its body into the man and pin him down with no regard for its own health. Shortly after, it would have taken enough damage to fade into the COMP if Parad is focusing on it. "Don't let too many get close to me, Guarda!" The demon complies, it would rush downward into the path of the other sparking Parad, a blast of force flying from the demon's mouth as it charges into its foe with reckless abandon, the demon would output a great deal of power as it aims to keep slamming magic into the Rider's body, while blocking his path with its own. And again, if Parad focused on it the demon would fade into the COMP. "I'm not really the best up close, but I'm not utterly helpless either." Naoya smirk as the non sparking Parad reaches him, he's not as fast as the Rider, but he'd still aim a palm thrust toward the man and send a blast of Force from his palm. Of course, that would likely let Parad strike at him, which would of course set off the man's tetrakarn if he's struck. Finally, Naoya aims a quick kick from his left leg at Parad's left shin, followed with an incredibly strong punch aimed right at the man's face that would send another Zandyne blast toward the Rider as it flies. From there, Naoya simply observes and breathes heavily, this has been quite the workout for him after all.
Luard's electric wave causes one Parad to disappear into a cloud of smoke, while the other charges through unaffected. It maintains course, and lets loose his hook, which now flies at full power. The punch rushes toward Luard's face, a certain air of smugness about it. ------------------------------------------------------------- One sparking Parad jumps up, and kicks straight into the fly demon, a burst of energy pounding throughout the room. Assuming the fly fell too, one sparking Parad fades into a cloud of smoke. The other sparking Parad, chooses a more nuanced approach, and tosses up a token from about him, inflicting Garuda with confusion, with that distraction presumably out of the way, the sparking Parad jumps onto the closest wall, and uses it as a bounce board to grant him additional force in his kick toward Naoya. The tackling Parad dodges two of Naoya's attacks, landing his own punch, but is taken down by both the tetrakarn and the Zandyne. Parad's voice echoes once more. "You have strategy, but no sense! That's like, the worst combo!"
Luard closes his eyes, taking a deep breath as he prepares to take the blow, sure enough, Luard leans back to reduce the impact, but is still easily floored. For the time being, Luard doesn't seem to stir, his eyes remain closed as the cloaked young man focuses
The demon isn't so easily removed, despite its confusion the thing has a vague sense of where Parad still is, and would beat its wings wildly while pouring out even more magic from them in the form of Zandyne blasts that rush through the air toward the falling Parad's general area. They'd be aimed to send the man flying off course. The fly, of course, is gone with the Parad that had attacked it. Naoya himself would leap backward, tapping a few buttons on his COMP and calling forth a demon to replace the Lord of the Flies, this time a large elephant man would with a long curved blade, and some bits of golden armor that has a ruby set in the center of the helm would stand in front of the man. If Garuda's wild and poorly aimed attacks didn't set Parad off course, he'd crash into the beefy demon instead of Naoya. The thing would reel for a moment from the power of Parad's blow, before quickly aiming to counter with a sword stab right at the center of the man's chest. Along with a powerful stomp of its right leg that would send bits of the ground flying up toward the Rider.
The Parad over Luard simply vanishes into a puff of smoke. Seems playing dead qualified as defeat to the clone. The final clone manages to avoid all of Garuda's attacks, and as he kicks into the beefy elephant, he jumps off of it before it has a chance to strike. Continuing his rebound strategy, he bounces off the wall once more, but as he makes contact with the elephant for his final strike, he vanishes into a cloud of smoke. Finally the real Parad appears by the elevator, leaning confidently against the wall, playing a handheld console. "Congratulations, or something... Honestly, the only one of you that did something himself ended up playing dead, and the other one relied on some summoning device. Is everyone here so booooooring? Whatever, I said it'd count so it counts. I'll let my partner know about this. Despite what you may think the elevator still works, so take that up to leave. Come back around Wednesday or Thursday if you want the REAL challenge!" Parad simply continues to play his game in silence, allowing the two a moment to breath, maybe chat between themselves.
