The Dream We Shared
If what’s important has been lost, And sadness overwhelms. One may retrieve it for a cost, Once one takes the helm. It may be found in the Common Dream, But there’s a price for this. For the struggle's quite extreme, To escape from the Abyss. ‘Genie’ from ‘Poems of the Collective Dream’ by Wake It happened while you’re dreaming, a beckoning light, a faint, lingering call. You know not where it comes from, yet you know this now, feels much more awake than ever, even more real than waking. From this light emerges a... Creature, it’s form cloaked in shadow, one can hardly tell what it is. The figure stops well away from you, a shadow amongst the light, the bring simply watches for a time, as though wondering where you have been for so long?
The girl feels weightless. Where was she...? She can barely remember anything. A familiar dark hand- a shadowy person, Deemo's- anchors her to whatever reality she's in. What's going on...? The little girl tries walking forward, with Deemo falling into step beside her.
Naoya felt a little light headed when he saw the figure...was he unconsious? Was he asleep? Or was he dead? Who knew about what happened to him, not even himself. All he knows is that he already new about how a realm like this feels, only, it wasn't the Velvet Room nor Philemon's Chambers. "Where...am I?" was the only question he was able to muster from himself as he surveyed his surroundings. He touched his face a little, thinking and remembering how it used to feel when he was in a realm like this. Knowing there's one thing for him to do, he decides to walk to the shadowy figure
(edited by Naoya_Toudou)
No matter how much they walk, the shadowy figure never seems to get closer, yet the light, whether it glows brighter or gets closer, it’s impossible to tell. Soon, the shadowy figure waves a hand, urging you onward before vanishing into the white glow itself Those who follow still find that they too, end up covered in the light, turning their vision into pure white. By the time they can see again, they appear to be in an old-fashioned, rundown village, a garbage fire burning untended in a nearby corner, with only an old cat stretching in its warmth. There’s a well nearby, a broken one no less, it’s bucket having long since dropped into the abyss inside of it. Next to the well sits a man, his two eyes beads of white against a pure black backdrop Man: New arrivals I take it? Hope you find the place to your liking, you’ll be seeing it a lot
New arrivals...? The girl keeps her hand in that of the black humanoid beside her, but takes a cautious step forward. Who are you, mister? Last thing I remembered, I was... In a tree... with crows...
OOC: Two things, too late to jump in? And are there bugs in this madhouse.
OOC: No and.... Very few, most of them are trying to kill you
OOC: Ah, might be best to use someone other than Taylor than for me, her thing is kinda controlling bugs.
OOC: Its fine, most of these enemies can be beaten by anyone anyways, besides, this series will have no lasting consequences
As Naoya appears in the village, he surveys his surroundings once more...not particularly too shabby, he'd thought to himself, as he then looks at the man. "Where are we exactly?" he asked, "Is this a dream, or somewhere more complex than that?" He mused
The man looks back up at Alice, sighing and shaking his head Man: I'm just another dreamer, like you. Most of us don't have names here. Only exceptions are a few with titles, like the Prophet, or the Two Pillars. Not that you'll ever meet them anyways. And about that tree of yours, you can forget it. The Dream's your home now. Quaint, isn't it? The man gestures to the decrepit buildings around him, the place seems almost entirely abandoned, at least for the moment, before he looks up to Naoya Man: There's a smart one. This is a little bit of both, the Common Dream here's sort of a dream world where everyone's dreams can mix. Heard it was a nice place once, now its all one big madhouse. Course, this is only a small part of it. But its the part you're gonna be most familiar with. All dreamers end up here. Over and Over again.
Dreamers...? I don't get it... But there has to be some way home. Deemo and I are searching for it... well, we were before we got taken here. The black humanoid nods. He seems oddly at ease here.
A young man still dressed in a thick gray cloak would soon become aware of his surroundings as he woke in this strange place. He wasn't sure where he was or if where he was or how he ended up here but he was oddly used to such a sensation. The way this world felt almost reminded him of something else. Regardless he'd be blinded by such light trying desperately to peer through it and find some meaning in this place. "Where...am I now? This isn't normal or...is it?"
Group conscienceless! I love the idea! Not that hard to grasp either. *Galio emerges from the light, his red eye darting around, observing everything* Nice place you've got here. Bit of a dump, but so is everything else on this stupid planet. Ha ha ha ha! I love madhouses. They are GREAT! Ha ha ha ha!
"Over and...over again?" Naoya was baffled at this. These...dreamers, like him, came here over and over again. Therefore, this was just him being unconscious or asleep for sure. "Well, this situation is...a little familiar to me already..." he said
OOC: Well then, I shall just do my thing. She does have some other tricks anyway. A young woman in black armor and a bug-like mask would wake up in the village, she's not quite sure how she got here. Nor is she clear on what "here" is. Skitter would sigh to herself and send out a burst of power, detecting any insects and such in about a 1/3rd of a mile, if there are any. Of course, there's a few jars attached to her belt, namely wasps, black widows, and fire ants... She'd walk over toward the gathered group with a curious look on her, well they can't see, but she looks curious under the mask. COmmon Dream? Dreamers? This is their home? Hahaha, no. "This isn't my home, and I don't intend to stay here longer than needed. Call me Skitter, and I'll be taking my leave of your "Dream" soon enough."
The man sighs and looks up at Alice, poor kid, well, no reason to crush their hopes, at least, no more than is needed. Man: There is one way, through the Fields of Limbo. Problem is only person who knows where that is is the First Dreamer, you probably saw him just before coming here. And he spends all his time there. So good luck asking him. The man glances between the three new arrivals, oh well, he's going to be seeing them a lot, so may as well try to be cordial. At least it gives him a bit of a purpose Man: I'll let the girl and that other kid explain the where, I just went over it with the others. As for normal, well, it'll become normal for you. Used to be quite a bit nicer, but its all sort of crumbled apart in these last few centuries. Used to be an actual town here. Now its me and a few people who just happen to wander in. The man looks over to "Skitter" they look a little young, but not nearly so much as Alice, the man shrugs before pointing well behind him, to what seems to be a dock leading into nothingness Man: If you really insist, there might be another way. Down that way's the Abyss, they say you can find anything there, anything you've lost anyways. Who knows, if you want it hard enough it might be able to show you to the Fields. Not that it matters. No one makes it to the Abyss anyways
So if we go to this Abyss, we can find a way home? The little girl's eyes light up. If anything can be found there, maybe we'll find our memories too, Deemo! Come on, let's go! Satisfied with this dream logic, the little girl practically drags Deemo towards the dock.
Quintus would simply give a more or less passive look at the others. He then looked around as if trying to discern things for himself. He wouldn't be able to tell what this world really was but in his mind, it wouldn't matter too much. The first thing for him to figure out is exactly why he was here and if this place was dangerous or not. "I suppose that question doesn't matter for now. The important thing is that I wasn't brought here for no reason, uh, at least I think. For that matter nobody probably was. I suppose the more important question would be a simple one often asked by people. Why?"
Naoya sighs, before turning to the rest of the group to explain their situation. "We're in a dream world where everyones dreams combine to make a shared dreamland, or something like that." After which, he decides to follow the little girl, "Maybe we could see what happens too." he said, as he followed along with her

*Galio looks around at the others, scratching his back with one of his long, black, pointed tails.* Don't care who any of you are, but I'm sure you'll give a bit of entertainment one way or another. Heh heh heh. Well anyway, the Abyss, huh? Sounds friendly. Ha ha ha ha! Still, if I can FIND a good fight there, all the more reason to drop in and say hi. Might even find something more interesting there. A weapon of mass destruction someone lost perhaps? Ha ha ha ha! What fun. What fun. *Galio chuckles to himself as he heads to the dock after Deemo and his ward.*
Quin, Hookworm host. He's at least got a clue what he's doing. The kid spooks her though, that one is gonna do something she shouldn't... And the others, she's unsure on them. "Quin might have a point, but on the other hand? Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Not everything has a purpose or anything, and sometimes all you can do is just try not to die. Either way, let's focus on getting through this abyss thing, sounds like a good bet." Skitter looks over toward the docks, they almost seem to lead to nothing... What a weird place, but after everything she doubts it's truly just a dream.
One might imagine a smile crossing the man's face as he watches Alice run forward so eagerly. Children can be such fun to watch, regardless of whose they are. Yet he is snapped back to reality, shaking his head before looking back at Quintus Man: You'd have to ask one of the two Pillars about that, they know everything about the dream. After all, they're the ones who made it. Best I can guess is that the First Dreamer's doing it to keep his brother entertained. Or maybe he just finds it funny. Finally, the man looks over to those gathered at the dock, a tense few seconds pass as...... Nothing happens. He seems to finally realize what they're doing to note Man: You're supposed to jump off. Don't worry about doing dangerous stuff too much. Can't die in a dream, worst that'll happen is you end up here again.
Jump off... Now that she's actually here, the darkness looks really really far down. But she can't die in a dream, as he said, so it'll just be a nightmare. Deemo looks at her for a moment, then gently picks her up. Are you going to- ...a-alright, I'm ready. She squeezes her eyes shut as Deemo leaps off. A faint white light glows on his back for a brief moment as they fall.
Quintus would walk over to the dock almost immediately before walking off the edge almost casually. If what he was told to be believed, this was a dream anyway so it didn't matter. It was almost funny to him. He thought the world they came from was a dream in the beginning as well and would do a number of both dangerous and stupid things as a result. He almost drowned early on because of that belief and lost his mind once in the process. Compared to the consequences of his carelessness in the past this was nothing and he could always catch himself if he made a bad call.
Can't die in a dream? Isn't there a human video film whatever series of a guy with a claw killing people in a dream? I wanna run into him. I'll shove that claw right up his ass. Ha ha ha! *Galio leaps off into the darkness below. As he falls, laughter echoes up to the docks.* Nyah ha. Ya Ha! WA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!! HA HA HA HA!!!
Naoya looks at the man with a confused expression on his face, "back here again? Just like in a video game?" he said to himself as he faced forward and look down at the Abyss. Whatever he finds down there is something he needs to be prepared for, though, no Velvet room this time though. "um, Mister?" Naoya asks the man one more time, "Do you at least have any weapons for me that I can have, preferably, a sub machine gun and a katana."
Skitter just sighs and stares down for a moment... That's quite the drop, her armor won't save her from that. Her demon beasts could, but not fast enough... Who's to say that this can't die thing is true? But, there's nowhere else to go. "To hell with it all, let's just do this and hope we really can't die right? Besides, tail guy is right about one thing... Hopefully we'll find a decent fight, not like I can turn those down anymore." Termite wouldn't want to after all, and there's something exciting about seeing how far you can take things. Either way, the young woman would leap off the edge of the docks with a slight smirk under her mask.
Those who leapt off the dock would find themselves falling... Falling.... It almost feels endless, yet the fall lasts only a few short seconds before they see the ground coming up fast beneath them. Looking around, one sees... A vague shadow, arched doorways supported by pillars, were the realm not covered in black it might have been a church, as it is the building could be anyone's guess. Off in the distance, one can see the top of a mountain, eternally burning, whether it is to be a volcano or not, is anyone's guess. In front of the building is a group of 6 humanoids, white eyes darting amongst each other, their shadowy cloaks obscuring much of their forms from view, yet when the new dreamers land, the figure immediately leap to attention, turning towards them and muttering, the figures speak up, from left to right Figure 1: No cloak. Figure 2:Not a member... Figure 3:What is that? Figure 4:I dunno... Figure 5:Probably dangerous Figure 6: Have we seen them before? As for Naoya, the man shrugs, he tosses a small, shiny object into the air, possibly a coin, before shaking his head Man: You should have anything you brought with you. Or if there's something you have that's important to you. Those usually carry over.
Naoya thought about this for a bit, before noticing that he now actually has his weapons by his side, "Oh, sorry about that. I guess I'll be on my way." With that, he takes a deep breath, and then takes a leap. A leap of faith, Naoya would have said in his own words as he quickly descended down to the Abyss... As soon as he landed, he spotted everyone else along with the strange figures. He instinctively took out his katana as he stays on guard, "I'm not in the mood for fighting right now, so how about you all skedadle?"
(edited by Naoya_Toudou)
Deemo sets the girl on the ground, and she immediately hides behind her apparent guardian. She peeks out at them and speaks, although a little shakily. Um, hello... I'm Alice, and this here is Deemo. Are you... in a special club or something? We can leave if you want.
Quintus would just seem to stare at each of the figures with tired eyes. He didn't seem necessary interest in them but more so wary but he wouldn't let his caution show. Instead, he'd attempt to seem calm to anyone who observed him. This place was definitely stranger than even he gave it credit for but it would be better to be safe than sorry. For now, he thought perhaps it'd be better to let the others speak while he observed the situation from afar.
Ooh. mysterious buggers aren't you? Hee Hee. You'll do. *Galio takes two black swords off his back and connects them at the handles into a twinblade* So, boys and girls? You friendly or am I gonna have to cut you to ribbons with my Alabaster Twinblade? Please, choose the latter. Ha ha ha!
Skitter looks up at them for a moment, she's curious about these people... Like Quin.. Oh fucks sake, do these people have any idea what diplomacy is? Black hair and tail guy both just begging to start something, even Termite isn't this damm eager to piss people off when he's got no clue what they can do or if they're even threats. "I'm Skitter, and I apologize on behalf of the two aiming weapons toward you. We mean no harm, just trying to get back to our own world actually... So, really we'd like to get out of your way for good, seems best for all involved right?"
The figures watch Alice for a moment, strange child hiding behind... A large, shadowy man? Something about him almost seems familiar, the figures turn to talk amongst themselves 1: They don't seem to know anything 2: New arrival maybe? 3: Probably a dreamer 4: dreamers don't have names 5: Who cares? People only ever come here for one reason. 6: You mean the Abyss? Not like they'll ever make it there. Seeing Galio and Naoya's weapons makes the fifth one more confident as he steps out in front of the others 5: Doesn't mean they won't wreck the whole place trying. Remember the Saint? 3: Who was he again? 6: Killed me eight times he did, I'll never forget that hat of his. By now, the group would seem to ignore Skitter, with the fifth egging them all on. His confidence peaked, the fifth figure steps in front of the others and announces 5: Are we just going to stand here and let them defile Sataniel's shrine? All: NO!! With that cry, numbers 2, 4, 5, and 1 draw out a sickle-shaped blade, its white gleam a stark contrast against their entirely black forms. Meanwhile, 3 and 6 take a few steps back, bringing out some sort of long, dark sillhouette, it almost looks like part of a log. 5 and 2 seem to dissapate, their forms wavering and shifting before vanishing into thin air
Deemo stands protectively in front of Alice. The two of them slowly back away, with Deemo searching for the two who vanished. They can't die, but that doesn't mean they want to die... Oddly enough, he's completely calm. This is just a dream, as usual.
Naoya was about to sheath his sword at the moment Skitter mentioned an apology and peace, but then once the 5th figure aggregated the others to combat, he had no choice but to fight. "God damn it..." he said to himself as he prepared himself for battle...maybe his battle instincts were right, or maybe he should have been more...calm for a moment. Whatever it was, there was no time to think about what he should have done, only what he should do NOW. "PERSONA!" he screams, as blue flames encircle him, and behind him, is a black, demon like figure with a red cape flying about behind him, Vishnu, the preserver, has come. "Megidolaon!" he yells, as the demon pushes his fist into the air and all of the figures, are dealt with increasingly high almighty damage. Unless they are so powerful, they will feel very weakened by the attack, though not die necessarily.
(edited by Naoya_Toudou)
Quintus would simply attempt to step away from the others. His goal here wasn't to get into pointless fights protecting others, yet still. He supposed he's have to get involved if Shiki needed help. Stranger or not she was one of the more competent hosts he'd met and it'd be a nuisance to lose her or termite. For now He'd remain on stand-by and try to side step past the figures. He hoped he hadn't caught their attention as of yet.
If it helps, apparently we can't die in this dream. And if we're facing foes who are so willing to try, we should meet them with the ends of our own weapons, don't ya think? *With that, Galio leapt into the air with a flip before coming down towards 4 with his large, beast-like foot on 4's head in an attempt to literally crush them underfoot. His two, scorpion-like tails comedown towards his victim as well.*
(edited by Galio_Handasma)
Termite wants to fight... Taylor doesn't really care too much, but she guesses she'll bother to deal with this crap anyway. She'd unscrew a jar on her waist, about 40 wasps rushing out of it and aiming to fly toward 3, assuming they can reach the man, they'd quickly begin stinging at his eyes and trying to crawl into his ears, even hoping to rip through the skin leading up to his brain and sting there directly if possible. "I'd have rather avoided such pointless violence, but a good friend of mine is at least happy with these events!" Skitter rushes forward, a black hammer with beady red eyes taking shape in her hands as she rushes toward 1. She'd try to slam the weapon into his sickle, acid dripping off it as she swings and if it made contact, hopefully melting the metal blade down.
Naoya does some very flashy things. We'll get more on this in a moment, but for now, LENGTHY PERSONA SUMMONING SEQUENCE GO 4 doesn't seem very ready for combat, looking up to Galio and meeting his foot with the edge of their sickle. The sickle cuts well into Galio's foot, but doesn't stop the man from putting most of his weight on 4, pinning them to the ground in order to stab them further. Alarmed, 3 wouldn't notice the wasps at first, instead leveling his log-like item at Galio, before pulling the trigger, seems the item is actually a shotgun, a flak of pellets firing at Galio from a few feet away before 3 finally takes note of the wasps, trying to swat them with his arm 1 blinks for a moment, before simply vanishing like 5 and 2 did, however, unlike them he immediately appears behind Skitter, somewhat satisfied with himself. This is when Naoya's Megidolaon finally goes through, the blast is centered near 3 and 1, the ones with shotguns, and sends them flying. Of course, the blast would go far enough to reach the other two, 4 and 6, rapidly expanding and threatening to hit Skitter and Galio as it does. Quintus decides to go around the fight, getting more of a look at the area. He checks one side of the building, only to find no entrance aside from the front, simply an endless expanse of temple covering the side. At least until the explosion occurs and sends 3 flying through the air in front of him, only to dissapate into a mist. Deemo remains vigilant, checking all around him. Soon enough, 2 would form in the air behind Deemo, falling down and aiming to slash at him as he goes. Similarly, 5 appears behind Naoya, though it seems he didn't take the same classes in stealth as 2 did, 5 shouts while he descends in an attempt to slice Naoya 5: For the prophets! Sataniel's will is against you, and none can escape her rage.
Thinking quickly, Deemo tackles Alice aside, although this causes him to take a lot of the slash. He clutches his side and thrusts his free arm at 2, releasing... white music notes? Whatever they are, they fly towards the cultist, bursting upon contact into damaging light magic. Deemo...? He nods to the little girl, shakily standing up. There's a gash in his side, but it's all up to the narrator to say if pain is in this dream or not.
Naoya is quick to notice 5 behind him and quickly parries the attack, his sword being encircled with red and blue flames, "Wouldn't take it that easily, wannabe warrior!" he said as he pushes 5 off of him and yells, "I told you, I'm not in the mood for fighting, and for certain, I'm not the type of person you really want to deal with." he said as he summoned Vishnu once more, "Magnadyne!" he said as his persona uses the earth itself to crush 5, and possibly deal heavy damage to him
(edited by Naoya_Toudou)
Command. *Galio lazily opens his hand as the pellets approach, stopping them dead in the air. He then points back at 3, returning the pellets to sender at equal speed as it was fired.. He then turns his attention to the foe pinned under foot and grins at him* Good luck making that weapon do anything. The skin under the fur of mine is pretty much how humans would say hard as iron. It can't be pierced by normal methods. So sad for you. Now, pull! *Galio throws 4 in the air with his foot, before spinning his twin-blade around, laughing all the while. As he spins it, small bullets start firing at 4, threatening to shred 4 to pieces. He looks over his shoulder at the incoming Megidolan.* Huh? Wazzat?
Seeing the way cleared Quintus would attempt to make his way into the temple through the front entrance. Surely the others would be fine without his aid this time around. The man before had said they couldn't die in this world after all.he's try to remain out of enemy attention while doing this and even put his hood up to try to make himself less noticeable.
OOC: hope no one minds me speeding up the mook fight a bit IC:Unfortunately for Deemo, the pain would feel very real, in fact, in some ways its more intense than might have been in reality. But of course, no one can die in a dream. Right? Regardless, 2 advances towards him, only to be caught of surprise by the flurry of notes, 2 attempts to swat them away, only for them to burst upon his hand again, with a pained cry, they fade away, like smoke in the wind similarly, 5 opens his eyes wide, it almost looks like he's never fought before, perhaps he was overeager. Whatever it is, looks like it hardly matters now, they hardly have time to react before being crushed by Naoya's earth, fading away much as the other 5 had before him. Galio manages to confirm the kill on 4 before Naoya's Megidolaon reaches him, and is promptly struck by a searing wave of almighty energy. That's gotta hurt Quintus, on the other hand, uses this chance to sneak in the temple doors. Looking around, it is much as one might expect of a cathedral for the most part, perhaps a bit simpler than one might imagine. Leading into the sanctuary is one, long corridor, flanked by pillars. Every now and then one might imagine movement in the shadows, yet that only seems to be a figment of his imagination. Finally, moving into the sanctuary itself, Quintus sees one wall painted with pentagrams, its difficult to tell exactly what they're made of, as it all appears a dark gray. The walls are lined with tall candelabra, casting a faint light over the entire room. At the far end is an altar, above which another humanoid figure, this one much larger and with better clothing is suspended in chains by both hands. Below him is a cultist, much like the six before, slowly opening a book and tearing out individual pages, before throwing them into the wind. No matter how many he removes, the book never seems to get smaller Finally, off to the altar's sides are two archways, much like the ones he entered into. From here Quintus could tell there's some kind of garden past it, though the lack of real color makes it difficult to tell flowers apart, what does it matter anyways?
(edited by Dreamer)
Deemo doesn't make any noise from the pain, even as he limps over to Alice. He probably can't speak in the first place, though. The duo seem to have a silent agreement to follow everyone at a distance, just so they don't get hurt again... Time for sleep.
The church was quite strange with its lack of color. It reminded him a lot of the cloak he always wore. It was full of the memories of who he once was and how the color would often drain from his clothing in the past. Quintus would try to approach the ritual site. He didn't want to alert the cultist to his existance or interrupt...whatever it was he was doing. Instead he'd simply to try to sneak of to the side as quietly as possible in an attempt to reach the garden.
*Galio eventually walks out of the Megidolaon explosion, smoke rising off his cloak, his eye closed and him laughing.* That... hurt. Can't... command that. Ha ha ha. I LOVE IT!!! *He starts approaching the temple, staggering slightly as he walks.* Let's see what this is. Wonder if those cowards fled here. Can't stand cowards. No white flags. No fleeing. That's the rules of true warfare. *He grins and chuckles to himself as he keeps walking.*
OOC: It seems like many people are beginning to need their rest, it might be best to continue tomorrow once people are available. It would be convenient if you would tell me when that is, with timezones attached so I can convert of course, but unfortunately we seem to be down at least two, so I would rather not proceed much further
OOC: I can start again anytime tomorrow, I don't have work so it's kinda whatever.
OOC: Sorry for disappearing mid RP, but yea, I’ll be here tmmw
Here I am. I shall be available at around 1:30 EST, although will have to go somewhere at 7 EST
