Interviewing Potential Teammates
This is a sort-of audition thread for an upcoming RP series I drafted and plan on GMing. Expect me to bump the thread from time to time. A Google Form has been made to coincide with this RP and it'll stay up until this Saturday evening EST. I strongly advise you participate in the questionnaire as it will contain the rules of the thread after your responses are submitted: https://goo.gl/forms/ysg4PgIadBXwnxwi2 If you choose to participate, just put your name and desired position down in the actual thread, and act like you had already completed the form. You're strolling through the park when you see a flyer posted on a lamp post.
NOW HIRING: Front-line fighters and/or Persona-user with navigation skills. All skill levels accepted, but moderate experience required. Open house interviews TODAY ONLY! First come, first serve. Come out and prove yourself!
Below the job description is the name of the employer and the location of the open house. It seems a woman named Rosie is looking for teammates, and she rented out an empty complex for these interviews. You decide to go to the interviews. When you arrive at the complex, you see a long line of other applicants waiting patiently to speak with Rosie. After receiving a wristband, you reach a kiosk that asks you to fill out your name and answer several questions. Then, you have a seat in a large waiting area.
A man in a black coat and hat with various belts on notices the flyer and picks it up, reading the directions and heading to the place in question, taking a seat there and fidgeting. Mumbling to himself. Don't like sitting around.. Beasts are lurking about...
A cat curls up, purring as he awaits more news. Perhaps this will gain him the recognition he deserves.
[A young man in a grey longcoat and carrying a wooden sword picks up the flyer and reads it.] "The fuck? Okay, I guess I'll apply."
After reading the flyer, arriving at the complex and signing the form, he takes a seat. "Let's hope I get accepted... And let's hope nothing goes wrong..." He puts his headphones on and listens to music.
Emerson yawns after filling out his questionnaire, slowly falling backwards before forming a small chair of light behind himself rather than a regular one. "It'd be nice to get out and do something every once in a while, and to navigate for once. So this should be fun!"
Suddenly The Red haired Dual sword Weilding teenager appears through a wall like from Hellsing ultimate abridged "HEY KIDS WANNA SEE A DEAD BODY?" and laughs doing something to scare the shit out of people. "So what's the little justice league doing here instead of doing better things then letting me hunt you down like a predator waiting to score my next trophy?! C'mon tell me! I won't tell a Soul! Oh wait. I might take it!"
The cat opens an eye and meows. Any Persona-users would understand this as "Shut up and go bother someone else, you toothpick-wielding imbecile."
A young, black haired girl walks towards the line. She seems very enthusiastic about the project. Just getting to be a persona user, seems so exciting to her. She even planned it's name and potential skills. Finally, it is her turn to fill out the questionnaire. She looks at the paper, and feels pretty confidant that she will get in.

Niko looks over to the strange cat, it looks familiar in some way but he brushes it off. "Goddamn, this person takes forever to check these questionnaires, am I right?"
Meow... Is what Niko hears. It's universal agreement, though, so no translation needed.
The young girl looks over to her side, to see a familiar black cat with a yellow bandana. She caught herself staring at it in awe. She is a huge cat person, even though she never owned pets, and she decided to walk over to it. "~Hello little guy! You are so cute with that bandana!~" She gave the adorable thing a nice headpat.

A grumpy huff, but he can't help but enjoy the headpats... Cat... Instinct... too... strong...
She heard the cat start to get aggressive as her hand reached down, but when it was too late, Morgana couldn't resist her almost cinnamon-roll like headpats. She found herself doing this for 5 minutes. "~It was so much fun playing with you! I hope we see eachother again!~" She stood up and went back to answering questions for the audition.

Niko does enjoy cats, because he understands that his race probably evolved from them or something. He finds the headpatting disgusting, but eh. "Welp, I guess I'll be here for awhile soooo..." He starts browsing some things on his phone like websites and such.

I'm gonna have to ask you to leave No ifs, ands, or buts about it!

The giant "man" came here because he saw the word "fighters" in the description of the flyer he saw. Despite his low intelligence, he barely managed to finish the questionnaire. He came to the place that he was suppose to meet. Looking at everyone, he simply ignored them so he dropped his giant sword and shield on the ground and took a nap right next to his weapons, waiting for his name to come up.
[A long haired man wearing a getup that resembles what a typical cowboy would wear walks into the room, taking a seat on one of the chairs with he legs crossed. Taking the questionnaire was a cakewalk for him, even though it took him more than a few minutes to complete.] [Taking a cigarette and a lighter out of his pocket, the man would raise the lighter up to the end of the cigarette and ignite it. After doing so, the man would put the cigarette in his mouth and begin to smoke it while leaning back in his chair.]
A random piece of paper crawls through the door, its a drawing of a very bad stickman, it stands up, sitting on a seat.
OOC: Well, I've said nothing for quite a while Rosie but I'm gonna toss out some free advice here. Setting up a plot is fine and all, but to be blunt the questionnaire is taking planning things out way too far. We're a pretty spontaneous bunch by and large, most plots that plan things out too much just don't get off the ground. And setting roles ahead of time seems super overkill. Besides that, the whole "3 strikes from the GM and you die" idea is absurd, the concept shows a desire to have a frankly insane degree of control over everything going on. And yes a GM is in control of things, except the players that is, I don't GM a ton, but I can say that when I do? I've always aimed to give the players something to well, play in. That means to no small extent, letting them do their own thing without trying to make sure everything goes one way. That's what all the best threads I've been in have done too, on the whole this thing seems to scream of wanting to be in control not just of yourself or your plot, but everyone around you. And beyond all of that, you seem to have a habit of wanting to be in control of things in other threads. Bumping threads that aren't your own, and even pulling info on plots which you aren't running out. On the whole, your whole bit comes off very much as god moding at times. Most people I wouldn't bother to offer my thoughts, but honestly your writing itself actually is pretty alright. You have potential, but you need to let others run their own characters.
OOC: Well this method of GMing is mainlybullshit... As Tatsuya said before, you can't dictate what a player does or wants to do exactly. Except if they break some rules that you laid out in the beginning, in which case you can do that, but beyond that, its over the line. The players, despite them joining, are NOT your puppets. While I don't have as much GMing experience as Tatsuya or some other people on the phansite does,I can assure you that this went out of control when you do stuff on other threads and so...But I'm not saying that you're bad, its just that you need to lessen your grip on the players and be patient a so to let them come instead of you forcing them into it. Just be patient. and don't make me echo this again
You could have put it less aggressively, Heero. However, there's nothing wrong with a stricter style. I did it once, but still left room for freedom. Even Tatsuya followed along with it, which is surprising. Still, at the end of the day, just set some ground rules. If they break them, you can act accordingly or just kick them out, but allow the players to stretch their wings a little. Give them freedom to do whatever, but still have enough control to gently guide them.
A teenager wearing a red jacket enters the building, taking only a moment to stare at everyone else before sitting down and falling asleep.
Not sure if you did or not, but I suggest you read the advice given... although you're free to take Heero's with a grain of salt since he basically said all Tatsu's points in a more hostile way.
You're right. I'm just gonna let the site bury this thread and try again over the summer with your advice in mind.
You're right. I'm just gonna let the site bury this thread and try again over the summer with your advice in mind. That isn't strictly necessary, if you wish to continue you can. However I would recommend lurking here in RP threads or even asking for advice. We aren't a hostile group and the few that are, are here nor there. Try reading some previous threads and learn what others do!
Not saying that you should bury this thing, but you do you I guess. PK over here's right, just pick up what's going on and go from there. However, waiting till summer is completely fine due to exams murdering everyone.
