A hatty day (2)
Hat Kid was walking around the streets, eating a hot dog as she walking around aimlessly since she was bored and wanted to see what the rest of the city was (Yeah short, could not think of anything)
*On the corner of one street, Jack has set up shop. A bunch of people, all of whom are between angry and amused, are gathered around. On the table is three cards and a wierd glowing hourglass.* Ladies and Gentlemen. Please, try your hand at my game. Simply find the Joker on the tabel and win the pot. And, exclusive to the first winner of my little game, this beautiful little ornamental shinin hour glass, perfect for a gift for the missus. Current pot $100, if ya ain't interested in the relic, a course.
In a nearby building you would see a couple walk out of it holding a large portrait of them in their arms. The woman would hug the portrait while the man would shake the hand of the person whom can be assumed to have painted it causing you to catch a glimpse of 13. She would then lean outside of her shop with a splatter of paint on her left cheek and a satisfied look on her face. On the store you would see the words Royal Ink. She would then take out a cigarette, light it, then take a puff of it. After noticing hat kid she would think to herself how weird it was for a girl her age to be out this time an hour on a school night.
Hat Kid would look at the corner and sees up the shop and instantly saw the hourglass, she needed to win that or else someone else might get hit and use the power of that timepiece for evil or do something idiotic with it Hat Kid soon walks over to the shop that people were around
*Around Jack's stall, Hat Kid could hear a number of people angrily muttering to themselves* Man #1: Gah. This game must be rigged. Man #2: How is this guy so lucky? Woman #1: I want that hourglass, but I'm running out of money. Woman #2: That's what you get. All these street games are rigged. *Jack just leans on his table smirking.* Anyone else stepping up? First times free. One free try at winning this ornamental Hourglass and $125. Are there no challenegers?
13 would look over at this Jack guy. He had set up shop near her store a couple times in the past and despite what people said he was quite popular. She never really played the game but since she just finished with a client she didn't have anything else to do. No use thinking about it right. She put a sign on her door that said she would be back in 15 minutes and walked over to the crowd. A few people backing away from her because of her naturally intimidating face. Something she still was self-conscience about. She stopped in front of his stall and looked at Jack. "Sure, one game sounds like fun. Mind if I give it a shot?" She wasn't really expecting anything to happen. She personally didn't think he was a scam artist and even if he was it was the thing that caused people to keep playing and enjoy themselves.
Of course. SImple game. Just keep your eye on the Joker. *Jack flips up his three cards, revealing a Queen of Hearts, a Joker and an Ace of Spades. He flips them face down and starts shuffling passing them between his hands slowly at first before picking up the pace and adding some cards tricks, flipping a card into the air from time to time. Eventually, Jack sets the cards back to their original positions.* So, my friend. Which card do you think is the Joker? Right, left or middle.
Hat Kid looks at 13 then at the jack player... from what the people said, either he is just very lucky or a scam... luckily her hats will find if that's the truth or not
13 would ponder only for a few seconds before choosing the card in the middle. The jokers original position. She didn't really put any thought into it and simply chose one at random.
Ah ha ha. *Jack flips up the middle card revealing... the Queen of Hearts. He flips the other two cards, the Joker being on the right.* So sorry, my girl. You were so close though. Mind, if you want to try again, it's $5 a shot. Not to pricey, especially with $125 up for grabs. Not to mention this lovely ornamental hourglass.

"Nah. I just wanted to try for the kicks. By the way." she would take out one of her cards, handing it to him and pointing at the shop behind her with the glowing sign that said Royal Ink"Why don't you come by sometimes. Maybe a Tattoo or a portrait." Afterwards she would walk back to her shop while thanking him for the game and begin smoking again as she waited for her next customer.
Hat Kid walks up "May I play" Hat Kid said, determined to get the time piece
Well, if your ever in need of another game, I'll be around. Now then? Anyone else fancy a game? *Jack looked around the crowd expectantly. He raises an eyebrow at Hat Kid* Little young, but I suppose I can give you a game. First time's free. You overhear the rules?
(edited by Jack_King)
Hat Kid nods at jack, and makes her hat is on correctly
Alright then. Keep your eyes on the Joker. *Jack begins his usual shuffling of his cards, starting slowly but getting faster and adding tricks. He eventually returns the cards back to their original position.* Now then. Which card is the Joker? Right, left or middle.
Hat Kid took a moment to look at the cards before picking the left card
Ooh. *Jack flips up the left card. Ace of Spades. He flips up the other cards, revealing the Joker in the centre.* Close, but no cigar, kid. Sorry bout that. Though, if ya parents are around, another game is $5.
"I dont have parents... I live myself" She gives Jack 5 dollars
Heh. Alright then. *Once again, Jack shuffles the cards before returning them to a normal condition.* Right, left or middle?
Hat Kid puts her hand over the middle cards before quickly going to the right card then to the left card, and picks the left card up
Queen of Hearts. *Sure enough, Jack's right. The card Hat Kid picked up is the Queen of Hearts. Jack picks up the middle card, showing the girl the Joker.* You done or you playing again?
She puts another 5 dollars on the table "another game, from what I can see, the joker card is always seemling on the right on the card. So if the person picks the left card it would be in the middle. if the person picks the middle the joker would be in the right, if you person picks the right the joker would be in the left"
Hey, everyone needs a strategy, right? *Once again, Jack shuffles the cards and returns them to their original positions.* Let's see if yours works. Right, left or middle.
13 would continue to watch from a distance slowly gaining interest in the game as she watches hat kid play. "She must really want that hour glass. Guess the money's good too" She say as she takes another puff
Hat Kid looks at the cards while also whipsering to Jack "you know, the hourglass is what I know as a time piece since it's glowing and such. It's a dangers thing be bidding... Thats why I want it, to make sure no one uses the power of the time pieces for evil or do something dumb with it" Hat Kid soon picks the right card, knowing she was already going to loses
*Jack whispers back.* And you should know how little I care. I'm a gambler, kid. If you want this, you're gonna have to win it off me. That's how my world works. I don't care for age, wealth, status or sob stories. It's a shame ya can't peak at the cards in anyway because... *Jack flips up a Queen of Hearts, revealing the Joker in the middle.* My luck is unbeatable. You give up?
She puts down 5 more dollars on the table "Nope" She smirks
$140 *Jack reshuffles the three cards.* I like your guts, but guts won't help when you wallet runs dry. Left, Right or Middle.
Hat Kid uses her hat's power (Which she only can sees) to see which card the joker was before picking the joker card (which was the middle one... of course she first move her hand to the left card and almost picked it but she moves her hand to the middle one and choices that one)
*With a smirk, Jack picks up the middle card revealing... the Queen of Hearts? Jack flips the left card revealing the Joker. Jack chuckles.* You seem agitated? Expecting a different result? You gonna play again? *Jack smirks at Hat Kid. He scratches a tattoo of the roman numeral "XVII" on the back of his right wrist.*
13 would notice a small change in the energy around hat. She wouldn't really know what it was though. "Guess the kids going to try to cheat the cheater huh?" She would think to herself still watching as this unfolds. Her cigarette beginning to reach the filter.
Hat Kid would notice the XVII on the man's right wrist... noticing that it was the number 17. that might be a clue or something else Hat Kid stays calm and gets up "Have fun with your little game... besides you use magic to put the victory in your hands.... so you kind cheat in a way" Hat Kid soon walks away from the game and looks around... she will find another way to get the time piece
Heh. Only when people try to cheat me, little girl. Only people try to cheat me. Well, I'm sorry folks, but that's all I have time for today. *The crowd grumbles in disapointment.* I'll see you all again some other time. Maybe someone can beat my luck one of these days. *Jack puts his money in a jar and walks off. However, the table and the time piece remain out in the open, even as the people walk off.*
Hat Kid knew that no matter where jack goes, as long as he had that time piece with him. Hat Kid will know where it is... and besides, jack is putting himself at risk of monsters trying to attack him Hat Kid sighs as she goes to a street corner and sits down
