Portobello Road: Trick or Treat
A cold wind blows into the darkened court at the bottom of Portobello Road. The cloths that still lay on the empty stalls blow in the night air. The light and sound from the street, of the people partying hard and the children running around from door to door asking for sweets, seemed to vanish. Everything is deathly silent. And yet, that should not be. For there had been flyers all over the place. A Halloween party hosted by the King of Portobello Road himself. And yet, as you enter this place, there is only darkness and the echoes of civilisation. And the sense you're being watched from the dark.
Portobello Road: Imitations of Reality
*The sun never rises on Portobello Road. It's nestled in the shade, surrounded on all sides by shops and apartment. Even so, That also meant that the sun never set on the place. No matter how many people called the police on the number of stall owners in the big square, they could never prove foul play and thus, couldn't be stopped from selling their wares. As such, some people sent mercenaries to deal with crooked stall owners. Something that never went down well with Portobello Road's regular patrons. In his usual corner, Jack smirked as another player of his game lost.*
Ooh. You were close again, Elijah. That's your regular three games, yeah?
Elijah: Unfortunately. I'll beat you some point Jack. Just you wait and see.
I'm sure you will. Until then, I'll enjoy your money.
Elijah: Ha. I'm sure you will. Until later Jack.
*With that, Elijah pushed through the crowd surrounding Jack's stand and left Portobello Road. Jack smirked before clearing his throat.*
The pot's been raised to $500. Who's next on that line for an easy $500? Simply find the Joker and win big. Come on up, my next challenger. Heh heh heh.
The Gambler of Portobello Road
*Off of side street in Shibuya is a place known by the locals as "Portobello Road". It wasn't the streets actual name, but the people who set up stalls there called it that. Here, people could find various stalls selling various things, from jewellery and clothes that were said to be owned by royals and items said to be used by celebrities of ages past. In reality, however, they were nothing but cheap knockoffs or things given extravagant stories to sound important. At the end of the street, tucked away in a corner, is a stall surrounded b patrons, hoping to try their luck at winning big. Jack smirked as another hapless fool lost to him.*
Ooh. You were close though. Want to play again, my friend?
Man: Ha. Not a chance. I'll run out of money soon. Maybe tomorrow though Jack.
Alright. Catch you around, Elijah. Don't forget to say hi to the missus.
Elijah: And admit where I was when I'm supposed to be working? Not a chance.
*Elijah, walks off laughing. Jack waves at him, chuckling before turning to the rest of the crowd.*
Anyway, roll up. Roll up. Try your luck at my simple card game and win the pot of $300. First game is always free.
