Worst Stages in Video Games?
I've done bosses and enemies, so let's stages or levels. You should know I make these to rant, so let's get too it. So Mega man 11 came out a few days ago and, due to it being a short game, I'm pretty close to beating it. Probably will later. But I just beat Bounce Man's stage and hoo boy is that stage obnoxious. It's based around, what else, bouncing on rubber balls that act as bounce pads. Press X (on PS4) at the right time, you bounce higher. When the game feels like it. Only two screens of this stage have bottomless pits, although both have an endlessly re-spawning mother fucker who comes out of the pits randomly to interrupt your jumps and knock you right into them. The stage is however filled with rooms with all walls lined with these bouncy balls and send you around the room. You WILL bounce off some of these at the most inopportune times, like when trying to get across several floating platforms, which then makes you restart the room because you fall all the way back to the bottom of the room your in. The boss and Miniboss are pretty easy. Most of the enemies are easy (though you will bounce into them alot). But the level itself is complete and utter obnoxious BS. And there's an achievement to beat the game in under an hour. Enjoy. I know this stage is probably not as bad to people with better timing (Projared actually enjoyed this level in his LP) though I hate the stage. Well, rant over. Feel free to share your least favourite levels as well.
1): Wait, MM 11 already came out? wow. 2): Fire Emblem Fates Conquest Chapter 10. That's all I need to say.
Gin
1) Yeah, 2 days ago. 2) Yeah. I get that.
The Lost Child, every level in the game. It's just annoying level after annoying level with puzzles and gimmicks that are completely unneeded in a dungeon crawler.
Sonic: Titanic Monarch(Frustration and bad memories), Panic Puppet zone, Lost Jungle in Heroes, Water levels are a fear but their design and music make up for it. Dmc: Being inside that demon for a boring while in 3. Final Fantasy: Last dungeon in 3, crystal tower was fun, the place after the first boss... nah Tales of: Symphonia, Dawn of the new worl, fricking Gladsheim Zelda: Jabbu Jabbus belly I probs have more and forget them
Sonic Lost World 3DS: Frozen Factory Zone 3. HOOOOOOOOOOO BOY I hate this stage so much. The first part isn't too bad, you turn on some switches with some snowballs, it's not terrible. The second part is what gets me riled up. So a snowball is following you through the level and whenever you touch it, it freezes you. You need to use it for platforming and stuff. But this is so annoying. If you go to fast, it respawns almost on top of you. Not only that, but the freezing has knockback too. And it gets bigger as you keep moving And don't even get me started on the hard version of this level.
As someone who rarely has any friends at his house, the true final level of Super Mario 3D World almost made me lose my mind trying to do it alone. I’m not necessarily sure if this could qualify as a bad level but it was absolutely an annoying one.
wait, I completely forgot about FFXV's Costlemark Castle. Level 55 dungeon, and the only way to get the Sword of The Tall (Collecting Royal Arms is apart of the game mainly as post game content). So you go down to the spiral staircase thing, fighting enemies along the way. Some annoying, some not. Then at the staircase, you have to fight a bunch of these super annoying goblin like enemies who stagger you with almost every hit, and you have to kill at least like 20 of them. And then there's the main floor, where you have to do 4 different puzzle things, then when you get to the end of each part, you fight increasingly stronger enemies. First thing is a bunch of normal easy level 14 enemies and a red giant (Giant fuckers with too much health and a giant sword), round two is level 14's, level 28's and 2 red giants. And then after that is 3 red giants and a nagaragi (Nagaragis turn you into toads and can self heal) meanwhile it's all cramped inside of a small room so you can barely dodge the red giants. Then I messed up and left the dungeon, and then found out I had to do it all over again, nearly getting a game over each time I fought those god damned red giants. It took me 6 hours of nonstop play just to get to the boss, who at that point was a pushover because of all the exp. All in all, Costlemark was a mistake and I hate everything about it.
Metal Shark Player's stage from MegamanX 6 The entire stage takes place in a massive trash compactor which kills you instantly is you get crushed. The second half of the stage throws spikes into the mix, requiring you to make unreasonably precise jumps through tiny gaps. The boss fight isn't very difficult, and the weapon you receive is pretty much useless, so you end up feeling cheated.
Dark Souls's Lost Izalith. In the first part, the floor is Lava. Entirely lava, filled with giant demons. Exact copies of the boss you just killed in fact, so even with the ring that lets you walk on lava, you still have to follow a precise route to avoid aggroing these stupidly strong enemies, who will probably cause you to dodge into the aggro range of another one of them if you attract the attention of one. Once you sneak through the giant lava pit of death, there are a few enemies not really worth mentioning and then one of the worst bosses in gaming history, but I believe that's in the worst bosses thread. Lets see next.... Digimon Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory has the K's Server dungeon, its filled with invisible teleporter pads that you have to randomly guess which one leads to where you're trying to go, there's nothing really threatening in there so its not like its challenging, just really annoying, really tedious design, easily the worst stage in the game.
You haven’t experienced true pain until you tried to 100% complete Smash Bros Brawl Subspace Emissary’s Great Maze.
XCOM Enemy Unknown has one map that is basically a big bridge with a lot of cars on it and I really don't like it because most covers are small and easy to flank, and you need to run to get to most of them, meaning you can't overwatch, so if something comes your way for whatever reason, you might get fucked.
