Tabata leaves SquareEnix - FF15 shut down.
https://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-15-dlc-canceled-director-hajime-taba/1100-6463112/ So, Tabata quit SquareEnix. It looks like their games as a service model finally bit them in the ass, and it cost them over $33 million dollars in funds by trying to develop the FF15 DLC. Because of this, all the DLC was shitcanned, except Episode Ardyne, and the FF15 stand alone multiplayer game will be released (Free to FF15 owners, $10 to everyone else) Otherwise, Episode Luna/Noctics have been completely canceled, and all further work on the title was canceled. The legal document that actually tells you why they had the losses. http://www.hd.square-enix.com/eng/news/pdf/20181107_01en.pdf Note: If you are not use to reading legal documents, it'll be confusing as hell.
It was to hard to fix The problem with FFXVs story anyway. But I just hope it doesn't impact Squares other games that much.
I only really played FFXV after it first came out and never really planned to touch and DLC but it still sucks to see all this hard work gone just like that
Mega oof. But seriously what the hell.
I'm actually pissed off about this. I was so looking forward to Episode Luna and Episode Noctis. Mainly because Luna is literally so underdeveloped, Sarah from a collab was a better pair with Noctis than her, and Noctis is also best boy. Also, I thought Comrades was like $20 on DLC for FFXV if you have the original disc and not the special edition or whatever it's called.

It was to hard to fix The problem with FFXVs story anyway. But I just hope it doesn't impact Squares other games that much. On the contrary, I hope this does impact their games. They had gone full "Games as a Service" and stopped developing games as just honest to god games, and were planning on giving us more piecemeal products with repair patches and non-optional DLC. I hope this rights this wrong and Square goes back to making games with non 10+ year dev cycles. I can get that frustration, but with how short the other episodes were, you probably were not going to get any additional character development. Just like with Prompto's episode, you don't actually learn anything new about him. They just extend gameplay with what we already know, using a different play style. Episode Noctis was allegedly going to be an alternate ending for the game. All Episodes are only about 2 hours long on top of that. In December, Comrades is suppose to release for $10 stand alone for people who don't own the game, and apparently it's adding in new bosses, weapons, and costumes. I don't know how much of this will remain true now that they had to file the losses.
I mean, true, but with Luna, at least we would find something out about her non existent character. 2 hours is far better than what the game itself gave her. But I guess thereÅ› no reason to cry over spilled milk. I do really hope that we get comrades for free if we own the game though. I already beat the game, and have done a couple extra playthroughs and need something else to do.
Allegedly Comrades will be free to us who own the game. Not holding my breath on that, mind you. It'll be interesting to see what happens, as my own Comrade character is currently maxed out and can generally end fights in 10 seconds
Also, rip PC players who wanted mods since that also got canceled too.
Also, rip PC players who wanted mods since that also got canceled too. Geeze. I legit forgot about the PC version. Waves are being made. We'll see what destruction it makes.
insert kefka laugh here
Hol up, another alt ending?
Yep. Episode Noctis was suppose to be an alternative ending of some kind.
