Evolution comes... Are you ready?
The established governments have long since attempted to discard the ways once known to them, and now this renunciation of the norms has come to fruition. Once a peaceful nation, now torn asunder, Japan has made it perfectly clear the inexorable path that it must travel. Reunification will come, not with niceties, but with blood. The three ravens have cast the die. The chieftains will not decide this war, but the people. Do you dare interfere? Do you pick a side? Will peace return? Do you accept the fate of conflict, or will you rise above? Others will attempt to stop you. Others will attempt to destroy the path to peace. Have you the ability to build it once again? No time for philosophy it seems... You've training to attend. The fading light of the stars signals the beginning of what promises to be a grueling transition, you've been conscripted. Whatever life you left behind is just that, behind you. The quartermaster sounds his horn, and that is your signal to awaken. The schedule seemed light in the paperwork, the only thing of note was the large time slot allotted to "Evaluation". Schedule Allocation: Breakfast You have roughly an hour to finish you breakfast, maybe now is the time to fraternize before you begin today's assignments?
Joji sat alone, clearly not adjusted to his new sleep schedule. He looks around for anyone who sticks out before bowing his head, appearing to talk to himself
Among those eating breakfast there was one who simply seemed to be chewing on something. It would be hard to tell exactly what it was either as the man was wearing a cloak of sorts over most of his body and had his arms hidden as he brought the substance to his mouth. He had a sharp and cold stare as well that seemed to be permanently fixed on his face. For any who could tell, there was a sinister aura flowing out from under the coat. It seemed to be coming from something he was holding rather than the man himself.
Breakfast was simple, porridge and bacon being the staples. Food wasn't in shortage yet, but conservation efforts were already being employed. The native recruits stuck to each other, not paying any attention to those they didn't recognize. Some officers strolled about, drinking their coffee before the hours of paperwork needs to be filed. Other than that, breakfast continues without any real incident. Some chatter of a bigshot on the premises floats around, but no real concrete names to give away who this officer is.
Joji stands and begins to walk around, trying to wake himself up. As he passes by the cloaked man he feels his malicious aura lash out at him, stopping him dead in his tracks. What the...was that...? He turns and stares, unsure of whether or not to get his attention
The man looks back. His eyes seem to grow especially harsh as he returned the stare. "Can I help you?" His expression was especially intense and his eyes were focused like those of a trained killer. His voice was quiet but could still be heard clearly. "I'm busy eating so is there something you want?"
Joji was slightly unnerved by his tone and stare but kept his composure I..I can feel you. Your energy burns like a hateful fire. What is it? His jacket ripples slightly, like water being disturbed
The fresh recruits begin to leave, but the older troops slowly file in to take their place. It seems mildly apparent that the more experienced members of the military are less worried about the schedule, as their positions are secured. Breakfast has 15 minutes left, the next allocation is a welcoming speech from each units commanding officer.
The man would look Joji up and down as if to asses him. He almost seems on guard but quickly relaxes noticing nothing too out of the ordinary about then, at least enough to cause concern. "So, you felt it. Seems you may have some hidden gift then. Take my advice and forget about it, the less you know about me the better. It's not good to get attached to those who are ill-fated. Seems like it's almost time anyway. I'd like to get this all out of the way so we can return to our search." The man would begin following along with the more experienced soldiers, slowly filing into place. It was almost as if he looked at himself as a veteran as well but perhaps in a different way.
