If I remember correctly the moderators actually do have the ability to delete messages and see who sent them, but it’s kinda like plugging a dam with your thumb, it’s still gonna leak so why bother?

I go in every once in awhile and mute people, then delete messages, but really it's a futile effort. We would have to flat out delete anon chat to really fix it, but it would get rid of an authentic part of the site, so we leave it. It's that dirty little corner we pretend dosn't exist while it gets messier.
