POLL: What is the worst mainline Persona game?
Answer honestly. Don't say that all of them are good. We know that's a lie. https://strawpoll.com/szgyyfwp
Persona 5 and 4 because it's not Persona 3
Persona 5 and 4 because it's not Persona 3 Persona 1 and 2 actually, they just don't seem very interesting at all.
Also, how is P3P the worst? It had a female protagonist and was actually good, where I heard P2's combat system was the definition of shit.
Persona 1 and 2 actually, they just don't seem very interesting at all. Imagine being incapable of appreciating good things
0 votes for Persona 2 IS because rarely anyone beat P2 EP to get to IS.
i played IS before EP? and i liked it too, rather i thought EP was kinda bad in comparison
Just because Persona 1 and 2 play like classic SMT, doesn't make them shit. They are still REALLY good games if you play the remakes.
From what I understand, Persona 1 is just a badly made game in many aspects. Of course, I can't say for sure seeing as how I haven't played it myself.
so pretty much, you can't say anything about it. revelations was rough, and definitely lacking compared to the newer games, but it's still a great game. I don't know who told you that it wasn't good, but you can't really say anything with any certainty if you know nothing about it. Also, how is P3P the worst?it's just not as good as FES or the original. it's lacking a lot, and giving you a choice on gender doesn't really make up for it. They're all great games, but this one is lacking compared to all the others.

I saw it from various posts around the internet. And I know I can't give a solid opinion on it. That's exactly what I said. I was just pointing out the sentiment that I'd seen. I also haven't played P3P or Golden, so I have no opinion on those either. I'd probably give it to P3 FES just because Tartarus is lame and no control over party members.
I'd probably give it to P3 FES just because Tartarus is lame and no control over party members. I don't think P3FES is necessary the worst. It's the best in terms of story.

Both persona 2 games plays like ass. They butchered the previously reasonable demon negotions into a complete dice roll, with lengthy and repetitive dialogue that you have to sit through every time (haha, tatsuya did the funny motorbike impression! for the 200th fucking time!) and you need to do them a stupid amount of times to grind cards for fusion. Wanna fuse jack frost? Better spend an hour hoping you get a few dozen magician cards from the godawful negotiation so you can fuse him USING WORSE FUSION MECHANICS THAN THE FIRST GAME Everything takes an unnecessarily long amount of time because the encounter rate is obnoxiously high, yet the game is so easy even on hard mode that the encounters are no challenge at all and just become tedious busywork; by comparison persona 1 has a way more reasonable encounter rate and they are actually engaging unlike the persona 2's braindead ones. Not to mention you're gonna spend more time running into them because of the awful camera angle (can't see shit, captain) combined with tons of areas being filled with pointless dead ends, I'd take the first person dungeon crawling over this shit any day. Now there are plenty of cool things in these games but actually playing them is just a chore to the point where it isn't even worth it and I'd rather be playing mark and brown's goofball creepypasta adventures featuring nyalathotep from the lovecraft series

Let's start with the first thing, the "complete dice roll". Complete bull. Demons have respective likes and dislikes that will make it easier or harder to get the demon. You have to narrow down what certain demons like so you can get them. Also, the encounter rate. Are you sure you are not talking about Persona 1 here? In the first one, you can't take a few steps without getting attacked. From what I have played of two, it is not worse than Persona 1's encounter rate.
2's demon contact is reasonable, you're just bad The only thing that's a "dice roll" is when the demon ask you a question, in which case you can just think of what answer could work best and there's a tiny chance it'll fuck up and do something else.
in the first game I'd get eager+happy almost every time I'd be trying to get it but in 2 the 'you said the right answer but fuck you anyway' chance seems way higher. I don't know. I don't see why else I could do the same contact to the same demon like 10 times and get eager half the time and scared the other half of the time. Am I crazy? Everything still takes at least twice as long as it should and I hate it

Yes, you're crazy. If you do a specific contact option on a specific demon, it gets a specific reaction. The only things that change are when the demons ask questions after you've made your initial contact- and then, most answers are consistently going to give you a specific reaction unless you happen to be unlucky and get a wrong one.
Also to MakotoIsBestGirl's statements, Maya from P2 is a much better female protag than FeMC as she doesn't clash with P2's themes. And as we were talking about, the gameplay of P2 is still good.
P1 feels like an absolute slog to play through. It's still fun at times, and the characters are charming enough, but I'm very much not eager to ever actually play the video game part of P1 again. It gets my vote for sure. While I really disagree with P3P being the worst in the series, I can kinda get it. FeMC, as nifty as she is, has a lot of issues in terms of writing. Namely the Shinji debacle, and on a personal note I think her personality is a bit unfitting for P3's overall tone. The game's also like, piss easy. They didn't really rebalance the game to account for a fully controllable party, so the bosses end up feeling really easy if you use your party to their fullest. P2, IS anyway, is almost as bad gameplay-wise imo. Mostly because fusion spells are so broken almost every battle feels like an absolute chore. EP feels a fair bit better, but in general I don't believe the gameplay in the older games holds up exceptionally well.

I think some people are confused. I don't hate P3 or even think it's bad. I just think it's the weakest in terms of actual gameplay for the games I've actually played.
