Unpopular game opinions
Thread name explains it all. I actually like Sonic and the Black Knight, it's one of my favorite Sonic games and the motion controls aren't as bad as most people think, it's artstyle is genuinely charming and the music is great. hate the second Black Knight fight and those grind rail missions though I'm not sure how popular this opinion is, but I really love Pokemon Rumble. I've heard from many Pokemon fans that it's not a good game but I whole heatedly disagree, it's simple but fun and the gameplay is great. Yes, that includes Rumble U.
Sonic Forces wasn’t that bad. Gadget (default character for custom avatar) and Infinite were both cool new characters. Most of the popular pokemon like Charizard, Lucario, Mewtwo, etc., I don’t like too much. They’re powerful and make the game boring, while also being overhyped.
Pokemon X and Y are the best games in the series. This probably just my nostalgia as they were my first games but I love these games. The main villain is pretty shit but I still enjoyed the story. Plus the the one scene with AZ at the end of the game made my nine year old self cry. I think if I played it again it probably isn’t as grand of an adventure as I remember it but I still think it’s one of the best games on the 3DS next to Kid Icurus.
Gin
Shadow the Hedgehog is an amazing game. Just because they gave Shadow a gun for the edge doesn't make it bad. The story was decent as far as Sonic games go, the levels were pretty good all things considered and the controls were solid. Just because the Game Grumps suck ass at the game doesn't make it bad.
The Xenoblade Chronicles games have unsatisfying/boring combat systems that prevent the games from being worth sticking through the story. I’m also not a fan of the Gravity Rush games.
inari, you are uncultured
Old games aren’t that good. (Most games at or below the fifth generation of consoles) I agree that there are many timeless classics like Mario 64, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and many others, but when people go praising NES games like they’re the best thing ever, it really pisses me off. I get it, Super Mario Bros. was a huge hit, and helped out the video game market. And the original Legend of Zelda led video games in a new direction, and was the kickstart for one of the greatest series of all time. I respect what the games did and how they have led to what we have today, but when some turd at IGN puts Donkey Kong above Persona 5 and Final Fantasy VII on their top 100 games list, I have to disagree. ( https://m.ign.com/lists/top-100-games ) here’s a link to the list just in case you want to see how delusional the people at IGN are.
I totally agree with you BBBam04
Graphics obsession is only making games worse as so much budget is poured into high def textures, pretty effects and other stuff that looks great in trailers but other important stuff is thrown aside (but hey you can add that in a patch or even better... SELL IT TO YOU AS DLC) so we're still stuck with pretty games that have awful frame rate drops everywhere, are often lacking in content, have shit netcode for online multiplayer, or have weak gameplay often carried by gimmicks that are mostly there to look cool in trailers I could probably go on forever about this honestly. What really gets me is that all the games that are going for a realistic style age very poorly as tech grows so fast that newer games blow them out of the water every time; compare something like the RE2 remake to a last gen game going for psuedo-realism (something like Gears of War, GTA4, or The Witcher) and they obviously look like shit in comparison! Go even further back, and compare popular early 3D games like FF7 and Mario 64 to 2D games like FF6 or the early Sonic games. While early 3D was an amazing new thing at the time, now it's just a blocky shitheap with awful camera controls, while a nice sprite is... still a nice sprite? To conclude my TED talk, please give me more Jet Set Radios, Final Fantasy Tactics, Street Fighter 3s and Ookamis, and less Uncharteds that nobody will care about like a year later but alternatively, if that's too much, at least make your game as fun as DMC5

speaking of ign giving incorrect ratings, remember when they gave pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky a 4.9/10? and then the fact that they tool one whole point/star off of Xenoblade Chronicles because of the graphics. then there was the "too much water" meme from awhile back. they then have the nerve to do A D U L T T H I N G S with any American shooter. effing heckers.

Can I give a shoutout to Sega’s forgotten Fire Emblem like RPG, Shining Force? Because it’s a pretty good series with 3 being the best... I’m still mad that they only translated one third of Shining Force 3

Still upset about the EOS rating, it introduced me to Pokemon which, to this day, is my favorite game series. And the too much water thing is just stupid. It's a tropical area. It has water. Deal with it. Can I give a shoutout to Sega’s forgotten Fire Emblem like RPG, Shining Force? Because it’s a pretty good series with 3 being the best... I’m still mad that they only translated one third of Shining Force 3 I've heard of it, and I've heard it's good too, but I've never been a huge fan of strategy games. Not sure if that's an unpopular opinion or not, just a me thing. And that's also why fan translations exist.

Ugh, I’ll probably get shit for this one, but SoulsBourne games aren’t rewarding enough to be fun. Also, I really fucking hate games where the draw of the game is that it’s difficult. There ARE hard games that I love (Enter the Gungeon and Punch-Out on NES being great examples) but ever since the SoulsBourne style of gameplay became popular, I’ve seen more and more games go out of their way to be bullshittingly hard. I also hate how every good/mildly difficult game is now “Dark Souls, but ___”. I don’t personally connect with a lot of JRPG’s, despite many of my favorite games falling into the genre. I find that more often than not, they rely on the same tired gameplay mechanics without adding enough of a unique spin to stand on their own as games. To end on a positive note though, I think that the Fable series, for all of its flaws, is a great gateway RPG for players who maybe aren’t ready to jump straight into the more complex types of games typically associated with the genre.

Unpopular game opinion: Persona 3 > Persona 5. Persona 3 made me cry, persona 5 made me confused. Also Persona 3 has a dog.
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, while not perfect, matches up just fine with the original in my opinion. They're both playable in short bursts, and can easily be beaten very quickly, unless you're a hunter. In some ways, it's even better, in the length department and especially in the final boss, which I won't talk about but compared to the original, it not only makes more sense in context, but is just really fun.
Persona 3 Portable is entirely valid and the only real complaints are dumb. You think controlling your party makes the bosses too easy? Then just let the AI control them! It's the default fucking setting! You think FeMC clashes with the game's themes? Then play the male protag! Don't complain about new things when nobody forces you to get them!
Sonic Adventure 2 was just pretty okay. People talk it up like the Holy Grail of Sonic games and think more Sonic games should be more like the Adventure games, but SA2 had a whole bunch of problems of its own that kept me from playing it for some time. I absolutely despise the Knuckles stages in particular because they're just too long and tedious. I did really like the version of Chao Garden in that game though, that's actually probably the place I spent the most time in. I'd prefer to play Sonic Colors instead.

There's actually a video out there that explains that FeMC represents the Fool at the end of their journey, which explains the XXII (22) pin in her hair, her cheerful attitude, and other things. Also, would you rather risk Mitsuru using Marin Karin for the 82nd time instead of actually healing you?
P3P lets us date Akihiko so it’s ten times better

Firstly, nice Lemres PFP, he's a good boi Secondly, totally agree. Really, the only good parts are the music, some boss fights, Chao Garden, and the speed segments. Everything else sucks. Thirdly, speaking of Puyo Puyo, the dub of PPT isn't even that bad. Some of the voices are amazing to me (Ringo, Dark Prince, Arle) and they're especially AMAZING compared to the Puyo Pop Fever dub (Arle still haunts me to this day)
Heres a real shocker!...Fortnite is not good.
nibba that's an extremely popular opinion lmao
Toasty, it said unpopular game opinions.

The more you know! Also, yeah the PPT dub is miles better than the PPF dub considering they translated Diacute as Diamondcutie. But it's at least not the translation to the original arcade game... yikes!
Most things about the PPF dub was terrible, tbh. Like I said they made poor Arle sound like.... THAT. https://youtu.be/Zx-ynZSeHgo And Xander always does an amazing job on like, everything he does, which is why I love how he did DP
Peeson 3 was an OK game and don't get me started on The Question that was the worst epilogue in the series

Idk how unpopular or popular this one is, but the FF7 remake just doesn't have the same kind of appeal as the original version did. Honestly, the combat system from the trailer makes it look more like another Kingdom Hearts game, but that's not what it's supposed to be. I wish the new version would have the same kind of fighting mechanics as the original.
