Tragic hero or a egotistical prick?
obligatory 'Guess who's back, back again' Anyways, playing through numerous games and reading their bottomless pits of wiki pages, I've notice certain trends with martyr like protagonists threading on thin ice when it comes to likability. What traits ruin a tragic hero and turns them into an self-righteous dick?

There is a saying like "Everyone is the hero of their own story". I think the self righteous take that a little too seriously. If they suffered tragedy, like say there family was shot dead right in front of them, maybe that person feels more entitled to become a hero for vengeance or some other stupid reason like that. Perhaps after suffering such a fate, they would begin going down the dark path. They may think of themselves as the tragic hero but in reality they just turn into a self righteous dick? Now doesn't that sound like a certain pancake obsessed so called detective you all love so much? But I guess a killer is fine as long as he's good looking.
