Virtual City Casual RP
In the border east of Shibuya, the ground began to expand and contort as if a tectonic plate was being moved, albeit no earthquake resulted from it. The land on both sides of the border rapidly drifted further apart, a mysterious digital yet hyper-realistic mass of ground filled the gap left behind. From this floor a city began to arise instantaneously, filled with various brand name stores and businesses such as Cafe Leblanc, the Sun Mall, Game Cave, McDonald's and Burger Kyubey. In addition, one would find that the regular consequences of reality did not appear here, meaning they would not die, even of starvation or being killed.
A young man in a school uniform would stroll about Shibuya without so much as a care in the world. He just marched forward while absentmindedly fiddling with a bracelet on his right wrist. However, his attention would be pulled away from the bracelet by a sudden change in scenery out of the corner of his eye. "W-What the heck is going on here?" He gawked as the new city sprouted from the ground. "Oh man, Sensei never taught us about this in Civics! I suppose there's no harm in checking this place out... worst case scenario... bah, no need for me to sweat it!" With that he steps onto the new terrain and makes his way towards the mall.
Xix
A man in a labcoat stands atop a skyscraper, looking down at the city.
Kaito peeks into the mall through one of the windows to see if there was anyone else around. "Well, nothing has jumped out and tried to kill me or monologue me to death. I'd say that's a new record for me!"
*Jack watches from a slow day at his card table as the city shifts around him, whistling.* Well now. This is a neat place. Maybe I can rack up some customers in this new atmosphere. *Smirking, Jack looks around his new position. Seems he lucked out. He ends up stationed outside the mall. A lovely place with lots of customers. Jack stops shuffling his deck and stands up.* Ladies and Gents. Boys and Girls. Step right up. Play a simple game and you could be goin home with $100. Once again for the cheap seats. That's 10,625 Yen. Find the lovely lady, the Queen of Hearts, and win big. First try is free and you have no obligation to play again. Come on folks. Let's play.
Kaito's ears perk up at the sound of potential profit. "Now this sounds like it'll be worth my time!" He peels himself away from people watching and walks over to Jack's stand with some pep in his step. He stands before Jack with an exuberant grin. "Hey there pal! What's a guy gotta do around here to make bank? I just pick a card, any card, and hope for the best?"
Simple game is all, sir. *Jack smirks. He flips three cards on the table. One of them is a smiling Queen surrounded by hearts. The other two are jokers, one in red and one in black.* Here's the rules. I'm gonna flip these cards face down and shuffle 'em. Keep your eyes on the lucky lady and you become the lucky guy. Rules sound good to you, chief?
A silver haired teen approaches the mall, wielding a katana and ak47. He then walks up to Jack's stall and speaks monotonely to him. "I am on a quest to eradicate the universe of Yu Narukami, but I will stop to play this game." Yu then sits down on any chairs that would be available and looks at the cards. "Let's go."
Kaito slams his right fist into his left palm, clearly psyching himself up. "You got it! I'll see what I can do!" With that he does his best to stare down the Queen.
One at a time, please. I don't do multiplayer. So sorry, sir. *Jack smiles at Yu. He then turns his attention back to Kaito.* Then I advise you to watch carefully. *Jack flips the cards over and starts shuffling. It starts slow. Then it gets faster. Then Jack smirks. He begins flipping the cards around, performing tricks like throwing them in the air and catching them with his other hand. After a while, he puts the cards back face down.* Now then sir. Find the Queen.
"Ah, yes, of course. I suppose i'm not the best at reading the room, allow me to apologize for that." Yu back-flips and stands away from the stand, analyzing the crowd for any potential targets.
The display was fine at first, Kaito seemed to have it in the bag! Then came the aerial maneuvers. Kaito had trouble keeping up as soon as the cards left the table. As it came down to decide, he was looking a little bit dizzy from trying to keep up. "That was certainly an impressive display! Uh... but let's find that Queen shall we? I choose you!" Kaito points at the leftmost card facing him.
So sorry. *Jack flips the card, revealing the red joker. He then flips the middle card, revealing the queen.* You can play again if you'd like. But it'll cost ya $5. O couse, if ya wanna leave, I won't stop ya. But I#m sure you'll get it on this next one.
Kaito sighs in defeat. "I'll probably give it another go! Ah, but I'll let our... well armed friend over here to have a chance first! Wouldn't want to be on his bad side, y'know?" He bows respectfully to Jack before making some distance between the other fellow and the table.
Right. Right. *Jack looks over at Yu.* You're turn now sir. Course, that's assuming you still want it.
"Ah, yes, of course." Yu goes back to the stand, once more looking at the cards. "I already heard the rules, so let's start."
Of course. Good luck. *Jack would shuffle the cards much the same way as before. Slow then fast then stylish. From his seat, Kaito could see Jack's hand movements more clearly if he wanted to check for any foul play. Finishing up, Jack laughs, placing the cards face down.* Right. Left. Middle. Where do you think the lucky lady is hiding>
A man wearing a black coat and carrying a large brown duffle bag walks up to the group, eyes darting over towards Yu curiously and looking over his weapons of choice. Given they don't seem to be in use though, he'd wave to the three and greet them with a slight smile. "Yo! You all playing a game or something over here?" His gaze turns down towards the cards, ancient history is hardly the man's best subject. But even he can guess they're for entertainment based upon context. There's a brief flash of something around the man while he watches, eyes seeming to dart about faster than a human really should be able to. "So, the objective is just to find the correct card huh? Easy in theory, but in practice I imagine it's harder than one might suspect..."
"Ah, yes, it was quite difficult to keep track of where the cards were. However, if I keep guessing the same thing every time there's a good chance it'll be it eventually. Therefore, I choose the left card."
*Jack smirks. He flips the Red Joker in left. The Queen is once again in the middle.* Unlucky chief. You can try again if ya'd like. *Jack looks over to Malcom.* Unless of course, you wanna have a go first. Gotta warn ya. Takes more than luck or skill alone to beat the house.
Kaito pays close attention to Jack's movements, still a little bit dizzying but more manageable the second time around. "Wow that technique really is something else!" He looks towards the sudden voice and immediately tenses up. "Ah! A shady looking person has appeared! Ah, erm, I mean... hehe..."
The man shrugs slightly, it isn't as though he really has anything better to do. Those with a sense for the supernatural, might notice another surge of power as his reaction time spikes even further. "Depends on the price, and the prize. But I'm bored enough to consider giving it a shot if nothing else." Kaito's reaction would elicit nothing more than a laugh from the said shady looking person. He turns to the young man with a grin and speaks in a casual voice. "Hah, I like you man. I ain't gonna get up in arms bout being called shady, trust me. People have said far worse things about me, some of those were even right."
"Hmpf, very well." Yu takes a step back to allow others a turn, sulking.
Kaito laughs awkwardly at Malcolm's response. "I'm not so sure that's a rave review of yourself, but I think I get the picture!"
$100 prize. First try is free. *Jack smirked at the man.* What ya gotta lose?
He shrugs at that and steps forward. No reason not to give it an attempt, though if superhuman speed and reflexes can let him keep a proper eye on this card. Only time will tell. "Nothing but time, and I'm not running short on that at all." As for Kaito, he gets an absent response given the man is now far too busy focusing upon Jack to try and keep with the queen's movements. "Rave review? Nah not really, I prefer telling it like it is generally. Gotta look at your flaws just as much as anything else to understand yourself, right?"
All right then. Let's play then. *Jack shuffles normally. Slow then fast then stylish. The cards spin in midair, leaving it hard to tell for a normal person which red blur is the Joker and which is the Queen and Jack flips them around. Eventually, he stops, spreading the three cards out face down.* You seem confidant. I hope that's rewarded.
A blonde girl with a few firearms that she doesn't seem to care about walks about looking at her phone. She seems to be muttering a few things to herself as she strolls around. "Alright, so from what Siri had told me, the coordinates should lead me back to-" The girl looks up from her phone, both awed at the sudden appearance of a city...as well as disappointment considering where she really should be right now. "Yeah uh, not America. Wtf Siri. This is why I should get Android next time. Uhm, uh, hey, what's happening right now?"
A normal person would have trouble with telling which is which... Him though, normal doesn't quite apply. That doesn't gurantee his chances by any means, but his inhuman prowess should if nothing else tip the odds to his favor. He reaches out for the card on the right, flipping it over curiously. Regardless of the results, he'd turn towards Ashley to see her muttering something about America. The man sighs while walking over to her and staring at the girl with a blank look of confusion upon his face. "America? You expected to walk... To America? Even I know that's not possible, we're in Japan kid. Island nation, ringing any bells to you? Come on, you can't be saying you expected to walk to America from here, right."
*Jack smiles as Malcolm flips the card, revealing the Red Joker.* Unlucky, chief. Guess confidance isn't king after all. Shame that. * Jack puts his feet up on the table.* Congrats. This ain't America. Though I do have my own little Las Vegas gambling table if ya wanna feel closer to home.
Kaito mutters nervously to himself as his left brow twitches. Jack was fine, but now with the addition of the blonde girl, he didn't quite know how to react. "Oh no. The shady people are multiplying..."
"What about me looks shady..." Yu says as he begins honing his blade.
I resent that. I ain't shady. I'm an upstandin business man.
A young man would walk into the area. He seemed lost but his expression almost seemed used to such things by now. On his back was a massive sword that one wouldn't expect a normal person to be able to carry but its weight didn't even seem to bug him neither did he seem to even pay any attention to the weapon on his back. His eyes seemed to give off a soft golden glow for anyone that bothered looking but other than that he would seem unremarkable in any other way. As he spoke his words almost seemed to come out rhythmically as if making sure that anyone who heard him understood perfectly what he meant. "Just when I thought today was going to be normal I go and get lost again and in a place as creepy as this. It almost feels like Stern's doing but if it is that means he's probably dragging me into more fighting and if it isn't that just means I'm getting pulled into more supernatural bullshit against my will."
Kaito scratches his head and laughs softly. "Yeah. I agree with you being an upstanding businessman, at least for now. But with how everyone else around here looks..." He shoots a glance over at Yu. "Short of you being a card wizard, you're the most normal one around here. And even then, well, at least you dress to impress rather than to place under duress. Heh..."
"Wait, I'm shady? But I'm just a teenage girl looking for the directions back to America. My dad probably thinks I've gone missing...maybe sent a SWAT team or something." Ashley indeed does turn around to look at Gad, squinting her eyes to take a good look at him before deciding that she has indeed met him before, and waved at him. Coincidentally she now gets to unintentionally show off her shotgun and rocket launcher that's strapped to her back. "Oh hey, I've seen you before, haven't I?"
The man sighs slightly while staring down at these cards. Hmm, guess there's no sense in worrying about it though. He lost nothing, after all. And with that Malcolm steps away from Jack's table. The blonde haired man appearing causes him to tilt an eyebrow, most don't generally complain about supernatural bullshit so casually. That gets the Nemessary's attention. "Ah, so you have friends that drag you into nonsense on a regular basis as well? Fun. I can understand that, generally speaking I'm the guy who's gotta clean up messes when someone takes a disliking." Pff, that Kaito guy sure is blunt. All this talk of being shady reminds him of something, his name hasn't even been given out yet. Indeed. He'd address the strange gathering as a whole with a casual smile. "Oh right, name's Malcolm Chambers by the way. Might as well introduce myself I suppose. Oh and blonde girl, you might want to check the nearest airport for directions back to your country. Or a shipyard, one of the two will get you the required transit."
Gad would take a while looking at Ashley's face, unsure of who she was. Regardless, he had absolutely no idea whatsoever. "Uh, maybe? I'm not too good with faces usually. Who are you again?" Despite how some may think his words come off as slightly rude there's be a natural sense of friendliness coming off his voice as if any insult he spouted was actually a generous compliment. Gad would turn to respond to Malcolm as well. "Honestly, I'm starting to think its just my luck to get wrapped into messes like that. Who knows though might be people bringing me along to try to ward off their own bad luck. Oh right, you can call me Gad. No need for anything too fancy."
Kaito shudders at the realization that he too had also been speaking without introducing himself. He begins bowing and profusely apologizing to everyone before standing up with a cheeky grin. "Yo! It's nice to make your acquaintance everyone! I'm Kaito Rikai, second year in high school and champion of IMPACT !"
Though this is usually sarcasm, in her case, she actually felt compelled to let it be genuine, snapping her fingers and pointing at Gad as she chuckles a bit. "Haha, no you're fine. I'm Ashley. I'm an American, if you couldn't tell." She looked back at Malcolm and rubbed her chin to think about the options that were given to her. In the end though, she looks them up on her phone before continuing with him. "Both of those really sound like they'd help. No idea where those are in Tokyo either."
