I wanna play Persona Q I HAVE THE GAME AND EVERYTHING but i promised my bf that i wouldn't play it til i played P4 (even tho i know the basic personalities of all the characters and spoiled myself on the character arcs for two of em... and even tho i spoiled myself on literally the main antagonist of p4 already... so i doubt spoilers would be a big issue...)
What should I do should i play Q

does it even have any spoilers?? is there any reason i SHOULDN'T play it at this point other than maybe it referencing events from 4 that i won't get. do the cute character interactions have a lot more impact if i've gotten to know the characters really well beforehand by playing 4

mm... my bf says there's plenty of stuff i still won't get if i play it now... i wonder if i could play the persona 3 route?? i'm honestly not 100% sure on what the "routes" are like or their differences, other than different party members...
Well, I've got persona 5, and a ps vita with 4Golden coming in the mail, so I guess i've got plenty of persona for now~ i'll just wait

That's such a sweet way to think about it <3 (too bad he already lost a little respect in me for letting myself get spoiled in terms of uh... adachi... IT WASN'T MY FAULT HONEY... ;; anyways)
I can definitely wait a while longer~ I've got plenty of Persona in my future with the last third or so of 5, all of 4, and 3Portable anyways <3 (i'm mostly hungry for some more etrian odyssey god when will EO5's localization finally happen...)

@Hibiki Rude >:C even if it turns out to be easier than actual EO games, i won't mind, i'm just thirsty for some new dungeon crawling (since the dungeons in EO lose their appeal when you've been through them so many times you have some floors memorized), and the lovable Persona characters and aesthetic is just a nice bonus

I just hate it cuz it boils down the Persona characters to memes and shit and the actually gameplay is
okay
The colors and patterns for several of the dungeons the map interface kinds hurts my eyes so its a pain I'd rather just play EO4 again
also the way personas work are just dumb
the only good part about Q tbh is the music

well it's sad that the game might not be GREAT, and disappointing that the characters are kinna dumbed down (my bf did mention that...), but i'm sure i'll enjoy it when i finally do get around to playing it. still, it's lower on my priority list now

i gotta admit the plot is a weird point for me cuz like... how is. door-kun even there??? how is p3's protagonist tehre?????? when does this game take place?? before p3's ending??? i guess i should actually go play the game (not gonna tho)/read about the basic plot before i ask questions like those tho

Well I'll at least say I'm appreciative of Q since I got the fancy boxed set and the themed 3DS XL which is nice.

If you don't wanna know, look away but basically the plot makes some mumbo jumbo up so the protags cannot change personas, but now all characters can attach a second persona
The sub personas just give them extra spells on top of the ones their normal persona gives, and its an interesting idea in theory but i dont think it really work all that well tbh

((Honestly I think the artwork is cute and was gonna buy the premium edition for the tarot set but after watching a few hours it felt like they boiled well developed characters down to single sentence descriptions. Soundtrack is fantastic though!))

If you wanna know where it takes place, the characters from 3 and 4 are removed from their own worlds and pulled into some kinda alternate dimension for the game, and they are returned to their worlds at the end with no memories of the event, hence why i say the plot of Q retcons itself
if you wanna know specifically, it seems the cast of 3 is pulled into Q around that time in 3 where a tropical storm hits i think i forget around 4 i think its near the festival

Honestly it's a spinoff crossover for the sake of being a spinoff crossover so i wasn't TOO concerned with how the plot was gonna play out, but i'm still glad to have the question of "wtf is minato doing here" answered
