7 Wonder's of Tokyo Metropolis: Water's Wonder
It was just a rumor, one that seemed mostly baseless. There was an old waterway wrapping through the city, one that's been around since the Edo period. Nowadays of course, it's left mostly unused especially with how overgrown some of the area of it have become. However, as the rumor goes it's lack of use isn't due to overgrowth but rather because of a curse that was placed on the waterway. Apparently, many people beleived the waterway itself was a portal to the spirit world as they'd often see shadows in the less populated areas swimming through the water. Despite whether such a thing was true or not, a cloaked figure with prominent black horns would be sitting at the edge of the waterway in a less populated area. They'd be staring at the water's surface, a metal mask only showing pale white eyes.
A young woman with blonde hair dressed in a black shirt would wander into the area, mildly curious if these rumors of a curse are in fact true. She somehow doubts that, but checking out while she's in this dimension for a bit is probably a good idea. Upon noticing the figure however she would place a hand on her chin before walking up with a smile on her face. Whoever this is, they certainly don't look like the usual locals. Someone else from another dimension maybe? She'll find out she supposes. "Hello there, mind if I ask what brings you out here today? It isn't often you see people just staring into water at supposedly cursed waterways after all, so I'm a bit curious. If you don't want to talk though that's fine." She'd just shrug while offering those last words, it only seems polite to give them an out since she is appearing out of the blue. This area may be odd, but no excuse for being too rude.
"Waiting. The negative energy in this area is immense. A perfect chance to absorb memories." There wasn't any real enthusiasm behind the voice speaking though it might be hard to tell with the slight distortion and deep tone the voice took. "It's getting closer, but not by much yet. They're looking for human souls. You're presence draws them closer though. They can smell your human soul."
The Enforcer would raise an eyebrow at that. This... Isn't quite a person in the traditional sense, is it. She's only mildly surprised rather than completely stunned however, and would sigh while drawing out a small golden triangle. "I see, so these creatures eat human souls then? I suppose I'll have to get rid of them if that's the case. Fate Testarossa, TSAB Executive Officer. What else can you tell me about these things? And oi Bardiche, get ready. " The small bit of metal would intone out "yes sir" in a dull voice as her normal clothes are replaced by a military uniform with a white coat around it a gleaming yellow beam axe in her hands. She'd look around the area curiously, absently trying to get a read on if any magical energy is getting closer to her at the moment. "I'm also curious exactly who you work for, unless you're here on your own reasons. But something makes me doubt that."
The figure would return with a blank stare. They didn't seem at surprised by anything the girl did. "Clusters of negative energy, stuck together by a focal point. I am unsure how this mechanism triggers within this world. Correction. Identity confirmed. 3 entities approaching. My description only accurately describes one. The other two are similar in biology to the creature of this world known as carcharodon carcharias. Also known as-" Suddenly a rush of water as the tide seemed to raise up to both individuals feet. A large shark around 3 meters in length would seemingly jump out of the waterway from nowhere, trying to take a bite out Fate's upper half. "The Great White Shark."
Most people would likely panic and get themselves chomped in half. Fate isn't most people, the beast would find itself biting down onto empty air as the Enforcer rises into the air and stays there. Flying upwards into the sky with impossible speed before a pair of rushing lighting balls slam downward towards her enemy. Not that she expects energy to work, but it's worth testing out anyway. And if the creature went back into the water then electrical power would of course spread throughout the entire pool of water. "I see, any suggestions on disposing of these creatures? I'd prefer not to leave them around where they can hurt people less equipped for conflict than I am."
While the electricity seemed to have some level of impact on the shark it didn't seem especially vulnerable to it. Instead simply swimming away... Through solid air. It would stay there for a moment as a second shark jumped out of the water and into the air. It would open it's mouth, a burst of liquid shadows stretching across the ground. The first shark would seemingly dive into the newly formed shadow pool and begin swimming in circles waiting for Fate to come down. "I predict that if the negative entity that's likely commanding these two is destroyed or purified they'd likely return to the state of normal carcharodon carcharias." The figure would somehow be right next to fate, even mid-air. A set of battered looking bat wings stretching from their back. The air around and above would also begin to get colder as a figure that still laid beneath the waterways eyes would glow with power. Water droplets would form in the air before rapidly freezing and quickly exploding into razor sharp ice daggers. Surprisingly, the figure who had been ignored by the sharks would be targeted by these daggers as well. Likely their cloak would be torn slightly as a black inky substance leaked from their body. "It seems I'm recognized as a threat despite my lack of a human soul."
The mage sighs heavily, this isn't great but okay. Remove the corruption that... Can maybe be done. Negative energy of some stripe obviously has to have a counter, right? "So, take out their leader and the rest will be gone. Any suggestions on purifying it?" She doubts she's going to get a terribly useful answer, but that's fine. Evading these ice daggers is the more important move right now, so on that note she'd move with the kind of speed even superhumans find impressive and almost seem to vanish before appearing about 10 feet above the one who'd sent the daggers and behind it. It's at this point the figure would also find itself heart up by a barrage of electrical energy rushing through the sky at high speeds and aiming to shock it into submission. Though the magic isn't meant to be lethal in this case.
"The negative entity and the host are nearly inseparable. It would be far more efficient to simply destroy it. There is no reason to purify them. They are simply the result of high concentrations of energy within the waterways giving the waterways themselves a life of their own. There would be no major loss from their destruction." The cloaked figure's wound would already begin sealing back up. Even their tattered cloak would slowly begin repairing itself. The electric attack would seem to trigger a harsh reaction with the figure below. It would cause them to jump up out of the water to reveal a giant fish with blue translucent skin and something dark floating within their body. The fish would quickly look back to Fate and suddenly fate would feel as if their body itself was freezing despite no actual damage being dealt. It was as if simply being too close to the fish had caused this reaction. The shadowy sea of the sharks was beginning to extend towards her as well, one of the sharks seeming to guide it while the other trailed behind. The second shark seemed to dive under the shadowy sea and swallow a large amount of it. It would spit the substance up in the air, forming it into a large round shape. The round condensed liquid would seem to suddenly come down with an immense amount of force, as if gravity itself had become more intense around it. It seemed intent in smashing down on top of fate and she'd find that it seemed to resonant especially strongly with dealing damage to a human.
"And the host part, did this thing take up root inside a human being? If someone would die that's plenty of loss by my standards. But if not I'm fine with killing it." Right, her body growing colder that's... Not great, by nature the woman's outfit provides some magical protection which would hopefully help against such an attack to an extent. But either way it's enough of an issue to get her trying to stay mobile again, getting further away from the fish as the liquid starts forming. Just before impact the mage would blur away, hopefully causing it to smash into the ground below as her device calmly intones "Flash Step", a spell which as the name implies is focused entirely on evasion and enhancing the user's speed for a time. Her focus on staying out of reach for now doesn't leave much time to attack though, and the sharks would find only a pair of energy blades launched from her beam axe flying through the air towards them. One for each target. Neither is especially powerful or anything so at best they'd likely distract the sharks unless they're exceptionally weak to physical harm.
"There is no human, simply a sentient soul born of the natural energy imbued within the waterways. Is this explanation not sufficient for you? I suppose the mental abilities of humans is too spread out." The attack seemed to have little to no effect on the sharks whatsoever, a shiny veil of water formed along their skin. The fish now returned to the water seemed to react a bit to the attack on the sharks but the effects weren't noticeable. The shadowy sea would finally begin spread faster than one could account for, completely forming over the water that the fish was resting in. Both sharks seemed to grow more and more restless now. Each one would jump out of the water a total of 3 times trying to batter Fate now. On top of this one of the sharks would jump out one final time, the shadowy waters leaking from it's mouth before covering it's entire body. It would raise into the air up high before coming down more like a shadowy torpedo than a beast. Gravity itself seemed to suddenly bend around it causing it to fall faster than before. If Fate was struck with this final attack she'd find her own gravity began to go haywire, most likely forcing her into the water. While this all was happening a portion of the shadowy sea was beginning to freeze over, a large pillar of ice beginning to form out from it. The cloaked figure would fly over to the area where the pillar was forming, staring at it with cold eyes. A large scythe began to materialize in their hands revealing a bit of their pale skin as they grasped it. "It seems a proper execution is in order. I appreciate your assistance but you can continue handling the carcharodon carcharias. I will exterminate the soul commanding them."
To say this is confusing to an outsider is an understatement. Even Shadows lurking in the depths of the human mind have more rhyme and reason than this. Only by a bit though. The phantom thief hiding in the shadows observes this combat cautiously. Fighting sharks isn’t his plan but with the distortion so great, he can actually fight at his normal power. The gentleman(?) grins and tries to take some pressure off the lovely lady fighting these overgrown sushi ingredients. A barrage of stones from a slingshot sails towards the sharks to get their attention. The attacker leaps to the next bit of cover he can find in a black blur.
Fate just sighs and nods, not a human huh... Not entirely reassuring to her, but at the end of the day it's enough for her to just let the thing do its work for now. As she aims her weapon forward a gleaming barrier would burst forth, yellow magical energy taking a solid shape for a time and causing the first three blows to simply crash against a quickly and automatically created shield that would break on the final strike. Her device itself creating shields is hardly as good as real focus, and it can only be done so often. But it bought the woman enough time to both get ready to evade the attack, and send her own counter strike towards the sharks. A cartridge of mana clicking-out from Bardiche and hitting the water now emptied. And a trio of massive energy beams would rush forth from her weapon, not unlike the small balls of electrical magic that had flown towards the sharks eariler. Except containing vastly more power and being deilvered in the form of solid beams that would curve towards their foes if the beasts managed to dodge, two aimed at the one which had rushed at her like a missle, one at the other. It isn't a 100% hit chance, but subtle evasve movements would likely fall short of dodging. "Understood, and I suppose we have more assistance of a sort... Not sure why though."
The sharks would grow more restless with each of their failed attacks but that in tern just caused them to swim faster through the murky dark water. The magic once more though seemed to fail as the shark's bodies glistened with fresh water that didn't seem like it was part of their own shadowy sea. The cloaked figure would tear the large ice pillars apart with a single concise slice, not even stopping to hesitate for a moment. The pillar would sink into the shadowy sea now split into 6 separate pieces. This would open up the shadowy sea to reveal the waterway below where the strange fish was writing in even more pain despite not having been attacked much at all. "I'll end this quickly..." The cloaked figure would bring the large blades weapon down on the fish's location with intent to cut it into pieces if not stopped. Meanwhile one of the sharks Fate had been fighting would now break away having been pelted with rocks suddenly. Normally, such a creature would only be interested in those with a human soul but it seemed not to mind if it's target appeared to be an animal. It would lunge at the cat with a shadowy substance leaking from it's mouth. The other shark would simply dive under the shadowy sea. Fate would find the dark waters bubbling before it seemed to extend upwards trying to once again force her into the water.
“Andras!” The bipedal cat leaps into the air, soaring higher with the help of a creature that appeared in a burst of blue flames. The cat, safely tucked in the feathered Persona’s arms, points at the shark. “Let’s wear him down. Garu!” A green whirlwind roars at the shark with a flap of Andras’s wings. A moment later, the cat drops down for a slice with a gleaming blade.
Dark water down trying to pull her in huh... She's already had some luck with blocking before, so she'll try again. This time putting all her effort into defensive magic as another empty mana cartridge clicks out. The water trying to move upwards would find itself hopefully halted by a heavy and powerful barrier gleaming with Fate's magic. In fact the goal is to push downwards with even greater force and hopefully seal off the ocean of darkness below for a bit. With any luck the cat will be fine, so for now she's just going to focus on hopefully creating a distraction that will keep this one in place for a little while. Long enough for her temporary ally to do whatever they're planning to end this, at least that's the hope.
In an instant the entire waterway would begin shifting to a vibrant red. The cloaked figure had cleaved the strange fish-like entity apart. Even the swirl of dark energy within the fish had been cleaved apart. It's form would leak a red cloud as it's body melted away. At the same time the water surrounding the bodies of the sharks would also turn red before melting off of their bodies, leaving them exposed. The wind would slam into the shark which no longer having any defenses would be flung back into the shadowy sea. It' would circle in the water for a moment before sticking just its head out to fire a glob of shadowy water towards the cat. The water seemed to form a perfect ball somehow as gravity distorted around it causing it's speed to fluctuate. The water reaching up towards Fate would quickly subside as the shark from before would jump up, trying to attack her from the side with her defenses focused downwards. Red liquid was still leaking off its body as it jumped.
“PHRPHRGH!” That’s a rough approximation of the garbled noise the cat made from that faceful of water. Wet and absolutely pissed off, he points at the offending shark. “Perish.” Andras sends out another Garu, this time as blade-like gusts of wind rather than just a tornado. He then uses the spell a second time... to dry off his master.

The defense just... Vanihses, and her armor suddenly becomes much thiner as well. Replaced by a rather tight black bodysuit and her weapon becomes a massive glowing blade of pure energy and mana. Bardiche: "Jet Zanber!" Her speed if anything has become even more absurd, its liable everyone here would have issue tracking the woman as her massive blade begins growing longer and longer with energy while sending a powerful blow aimed directly in response to her attacker. The shark would find it's mouth being filled by her weapon, and the weapon, one aimed towards cutting through enemy defenses and leaving a single target dead in moments, rushing directly into its flesh unless it managed to avert the attack with impossible speed. F: "Let's put this to an end now!"
Surprisingly, both sharks would lack the defense they once had and as it turned out, on their own they weren't much more durable than an average shark. Both of them would end up in pieces, one flayed alive by blades of wind and the other cleaved in half by a giant blade. All the would remain of the sharks is a shadowy reptilian scale and one of their tales that on closer inspection was covered in small barbs. The cloaked figure would pick something else up from the remains of the now destroyed fish, a multicolored gem that seemed to hold a strange yet peaceful energy, like a miracle was frozen inside the crystal. "Raw memories. A fragment of all the world's energy. Mission accomplished."
The feline creature bows, giving a sharp-toothed smile to an imaginary audience. With the source of the distortion gone, it’s hard to maintain his form, so he lets Andras disappear and falls back to four legs. The “ordinary” cat trots over to Fate and her odd companion. “I trust you aren’t hurt? Only a monster would attack a lady with such fury.” It’d normally come out as meows, but the two have seen his other self. Enough of a requirement to let them hear him properly in this odd world.
The woman would stare down at the cat, rather curious as to why its returned to a normal seeming form... Conserving its master's mana perhaps? Come to think of it, where is this familiar's master anyways? Can't be the one who killed that creature, they don't seem the type to need or want such a thing. "I'm fine, and not quite as fragile as I might look to some. I'm also kind of curious why a familiar is roaming around without their master... If that's what you are anyways, this place is weird enough I suppose you could be anything really." Fate would then shoot the cloaked figure a slight smile while looking over and responding in a now calm voice. "Ah, interesting... I've never heard of using such a thing as a magical power source. Anyways I'm glad that's over with, would hate to see some civilians wander into a creature like this."
"Perhaps, the life of humans is irrelevant to my mission though." The now crimson waterway would begin to dry up completely. The water would simply vanish as the spirit that once embodied it was now dead. "You posses vast power. I will be monitoring your future usefulness. The same goes for the strange animal that provided later aid. It's quite unusual that something that doesn't appear to be an energy cluster can change forms so freely. That will be data worth presenting once my mission is complete."
“I’m no familiar. I’m just an unusually handsome gentleman thief. Still, I’m glad we got out of this... relatively alright. My poor fur’s all messed up.” The cat sits down and starts licking his fur. That water messed up hours worth of work. Hours! He pauses mid-lick. “Forgive me, I forgot to introduce myself. Morgana, at your service.”
