There's a few other things that help debunk it.
For example, the "Beach scene", in the japanese setting, if Ann had *any* romantic feelings for him, she would have gotten even slightly embarressed (ie: Joker/Ann date scene on the beach), but she just points and launghs at his face, then goes bro status with flaunting herself to him like a buddy.
The boat scene is easily explained too. Not only did she know him the longest, but she's the Lovers arcana, which means she's more intouch with her feelings than any other tarot. So her having the most emotional scene makes sense on that front.
The last nail I had was if you don't date Ann, she never gives Ryuji chocolate. Ever. This was the last thing I needed to deflat any suspision of Ann/Ryuji.
I get why some people want it to be a thing, because the idea of childhood romance is cute, but it's destroyed with the weight of the situation.
Every scene that has her and Joker highlights the intention, from the first time he sees her, he's floored by her and she smiles back gently, to the fact that she's the only person Joker actively chases to calm down and tries to help in a 1v1 basis of a personal level.
The rest of the writing gave me the feelign that there would have been more intimate scenes like this, but time was cut short (like how Hifumi was cut from the PT lineup, and Haru felt horrifically rushed).
Anyway, I'm derailing this topic quite enough lol.
