i personally loved akechi as a character. i really wish that things could have worked out differently, like i wonder would have done had he been friends with the protagonist a couple of years ago (like he said during the final battle with him). i wonder if he would have given up on his plan with shido, and just... stayed with his friend lol i definitely get why people don't like him tho lolol, i just never had the heart to hate him. also i hate that he wasn't even mentioned at the end after he sacrificed himself :/ they shoulda said something about him during their calling card to shido
