Questions about the traitor (spoilers)
Since the character did intrigue me a lot, I wanted to ask a few questions, and your opinion on him. A lot of questions seem more speculative than anything. Maybe I'm just not very good at getting it and kind of dumb, but whatever. I'm sorry if these questions were answered already, whether on the forums or in the game itself. Did you like him? Why or why not? Obviously, if you were Joker or any of the Phantom Thieves, you wouldn't, but I mean in a context outside of the universe. Was he well-written? Was he believable? Sympathetic? Etc. I liked him a lot (never had the heart to tell him to leave LeBlanc), and as someone who never really had friends, and a rough family life... it hit way too close to home for me. Heck, I even made a "fake" self to try to get people to like me. If I had the powers he did, would I do the same? Probably not, but who knows really? I would've loved if he stayed on the party. Also, laser swords and ray guns are so cool! Did Akechi enjoy his brief time with the team? He did say himself he wished he and Joker met years before. This kind of leads into the next question, so I'll end it there. Where did Robin Hood come from, and is Crow a part of the "real" Akechi? It did seem like Personas are part of who you are in the series, however with the Wild Card, this may not be the case. But I mean, come on, he did the cutest little dance with his all-out attack. It doesn't seem like something you fake, really. He seemed like he was having a bit of fun for awhile. And if his "detective" personality was part of who he really was, Robin Hood would be an expected persona for him. How strong was he? I mean, in the story, it looks like he did quite a number on them despite being outnumbered 8 to 1, and having zero social links (except for maybe Joker?). If he survived (or managed to get away), would he have been allowed back on the team, at least until after all of the plot? And would you have liked if he was? For me personally, I loved his persona and skills, and I can definitely sympathize. Obviously, he would need to atone, but still. I was really disappointed when he didn't show up in the Velvet Room cells. What improvements could be made to him in a possible updated version (akin to Persona 4 Golden), and do you think he'll return in a sequel, much like Adachi did? Will he semi-redeem himself like Adachi did? Alright, enough rambling. I feel like I talked too much already. So many seem to hate him, so I wanted to give my own love! But I also love discussion, and would appreciate any comments. Thank you!
I can't say too much about him since I haven't played P5 or watched a full playthrough yet, but from what I've seen, he's tried to redeem himself but it ain't enough. If he was on the team, I'd expect him to turn himself in at the end, rather than get off scot-free. ...I think I went way off the point, but it's 6:30 and I woke up almost 2 hours ago somehow
Haha, no worries. And he did seem to sacrifice himself to help the others. Granted, he kinda put them in that position.
I believe that robin hood as a decoy he created from thin air was to hide his tracks, along with him joining the phantom thieves, robin hood is also a rebel so that might have shown that he wasn't like the others. Also robin hood and his true persona ,Loki, are both tricksters and in some ways evil, so if he was to want to be back in the phantom thieves they would probably not allow him to join cause he was the cause of the mental shutdowns. Although he seems like a cool character I wouldn't like him cause he is self destructive and is a psychopath.
I don't know, they seem to imply they would have allowed him to return to the team, at least for the time being. He was quite powerful, and could've been of good assistance. And he did seem to see his errors after his defeat. He wouldn't have tried to save them if that weren't the case.

I like Akechi as a character but I saw him being the traitor a mile away. Once you realize there was not much promotional stuff for him (at least from what I saw) then it was pretty obvious.
It was kinda obvious that Akechi was going the be traitor but I was hoping he wouldn't since I really liked his character ever since the "Honey I'm home" scene from his level 4 confidant. I really hope he appears in Persona 5 Dancing Star Night.
I think the real twist was that everyone knew he was the traitor. I didn't know, because I ignored all promotional material, only knew about the game itself, and the fact he was on the cover and title screen. And yeah, even though he was the traitor... I kinda wish he came back in the Velvet Room... or returned to take down Shido, in a more morally good way. He was pretty much forgotten after Shido's whole ordeal was over.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure he'll be back...to dance his socks off against some shadows thanks to Persona 5 Dancing Star Night (he will slip in there...probably). In all seriousness though, I hope Atlus does more with him.
Maybe, but the dancing game I heard is just a re-telling. I'd like to see something done similar to Adachi. I wonder if he'll return for PQ2. Or Arena.

i personally loved akechi as a character. i really wish that things could have worked out differently, like i wonder would have done had he been friends with the protagonist a couple of years ago (like he said during the final battle with him). i wonder if he would have given up on his plan with shido, and just... stayed with his friend lol i definitely get why people don't like him tho lolol, i just never had the heart to hate him. also i hate that he wasn't even mentioned at the end after he sacrificed himself :/ they shoulda said something about him during their calling card to shido
Probably, I could see him being fine. Joker was willing to talk to him regardless of his detective status. He just wanted some sort of emotional support. His conversation with the party seemed to indicate he had some feeling there.
Another thing came to mind... why did Akechi have a social link? I assume the bond is mutual. But he was intending on betraying you for awhile.
You can still form a bond with someone on opposite sides of you. Joker and Akechi did have a relationship with one another, despite how it ended. And without it, it'd be even more apparent he was the traitor with that kind of screen time and no social rank.
I mean, I guess, but it came off as quite a different dynamic from pretty much everyone else. It wasn't like Adachi where they seemed to have an actual friendship of sorts. Though he did essentially say he liked Joker.
They tried to give him a standard system, but found they couldn't fit it in naturally or make time for it, but didn't want to cut it, thus it became automatic.
Yeah, I suppose that's why he was at LeBlanc a lot. That would've probably been when it was set. But I couldn't see a different result for the social link. Unless they made it so if you talked to him enough, he could've stuck around.
